<p>Le gouvernement de la Colombie-Britannique a salué les jeunes à l’occasion de la Journée de la francophonie en Colombie-Britannique de cette année – un événement annuel en l’honneur des contributions sociales, culturelles et économiques des francophones dans l’ensemble de la province.</p><p>Adrian Dix, ministre de la Santé et ministre responsable des affaires francophones, a accueilli les invités aux édifices du Parlement afin de souligner officiellement la proclamation de la 22e Journée de la francophonie de la Colombie-Britannique et de rendre hommage aux personnes qui promeuvent l’épanouissement et l’identité des jeunes francophones dans la province.</p><p>« La Journée de la francophonie en Colombie-Britannique souligne le rôle précieux des résidents de langue française dans notre province, a déclaré le ministre Dix. Cette année, nous saluons les jeunes et les organisations et personnes qui les aident à devenir des chefs de file de notre francophonie, maintenant et à l’avenir. »</p><p>Pendant cet événement, le ministre Dix a remis le prix de la Journée de la francophonie en Colombie-Britannique de cette année au Conseil jeunesse francophone de la Colombie-Britannique en récompense de ses 35 années au service de l’autonomisation et de la mobilisation des jeunes francophones. Cet organisme dirigé par des jeunes permet notamment à ses membres de participer aux activités annuelles des parlements des jeunes et à des ateliers sur l’identité, l’inclusion et la justice sociale.</p><p>« Je suis fier de remettre le prix francophone provincial de cette année au Conseil jeunesse francophone de la Colombie-Britannique en hommage à son importante contribution à la promotion du sentiment d’appartenance et de l’engagement civique des jeunes », a ajouté le ministre Dix.</p><p>« Nous sommes honorés de cette marque de reconnaissance décernée à notre organisme. Nous sommes très fiers de notre engagement envers l’épanouissement de l’identité des jeunes de langue française et la promotion de milieux propices à la diversité culturelle et à la sécurité linguistique. Ce prix souligne l’importance de donner la parole aux jeunes et de leur permettre de jouer leur rôle essentiel, non seulement en tant que futurs chefs de file, mais aussi en tant que contributeurs actifs à notre communauté aujourd’hui », a affirmé la récipiendaire du prix, Claudya Leclerc, présidente du Conseil jeunesse francophone de la Colombie-Britannique.</p><p>« Je me réjouis que le gouvernement provincial ait choisi de reconnaître la contribution des jeunes à la vitalité de la province et à la viabilité de notre communauté, a déclaré Marie-Nicole Dubois, présidente de La Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique. Je suis ravie de savoir que les jeunes reprennent le flambeau, en assurant l’avenir de leur francophonie avec l’ardeur qu’on leur connaît. »</p><p>Pour marquer cette célébration, la province hissera le drapeau franco-colombien à l’extérieur des édifices du Parlement de la Colombie–Britannique le 14 mars 2024 et, à nouveau, pour la Journée internationale de la Francophonie, le 20 mars 2024.</p><p><strong>Quelques faits :</strong></p><ul> <li>La population de personnes s’exprimant en français et en anglais en Colombie-Britannique est la troisième du Canada par ordre d’importance, environ sept pour cent de la population provinciale pouvant s’exprimer en français.</li> <li>Les écoles francophones sont au nombre de 40 en Colombie-Britannique et environ 9,5 % des élèves de la province sont inscrits en immersion en français. </li> </ul>  <div> </div> </article> </div> </div> <div class="story-copy story-lang primary collapsed"> <div class="story-expander"> <article>  <p>The B.C. government recognized youth as part of this year’s B.C. Francophonie Day, an annual event to celebrate the social, cultural and economic contributions of francophones throughout the province.</p><p>Adrian Dix, Minister of Health and minister responsible for Francophone Affairs, welcomed guests to the Parliament Buildings to officially celebrate the proclamation of B.C.’s 22nd Francophonie Day and to recognize those supporting the development and identity of young francophones in the province.</p><p>“La Journée de la francophonie en Colombie-Britannique recognizes the valuable role French-speaking residents play in our province,” said Dix. “This year, we celebrate youths and the organizations and people who support them in becoming leaders of our Francophonie, now and into the future.”</p><p>As part of the event, Dix presented the annual B.C. Francophonie Day Award to Conseil Jeunesse Francophone de la Colombie-Britannique for a 35-year history of empowering and engaging young francophones. The organization is youth-led and offers its members opportunities such as participating in annual youth parliaments, and workshops on identity, inclusion and social justice.</p><p>“I am proud to provide this year’s provincial francophone award to le Conseil Jeunesse francophone de la Colombie-Britannique to recognize their significant contribution to the development of a sense of belonging and civic engagement among young people,” said Dix.</p><p>“We are honoured by this recognition bestowed upon our organization,” said award recipient Claudya Leclerc, president of the Conseil Jeunesse Francophone de la Colombie-Britannique. “We take great pride in our commitment to nurturing the identity development of French-speaking youth and fostering environments that embrace cultural diversity and linguistic security. This award highlights the significance of empowering youth voices and their pivotal role not just as future leaders, but also as active contributors to our community today.”</p><p>Marie-Nicole Dubois, president of La Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique said: “I am pleased that the provincial government has chosen to recognize the contribution of young people to the vitality of the province, and to the sustainability of our community.
