Body mass index (BMI) above 25 is referred to as overweight and above 30 as obese. Apollo Endosurgery, Inc., a pioneering company in endoscopy surgeries, is poised to revolutionize patient care with its minimally invasive treatment options. Some product solutions are designed to improve patient outcomes and redefine the future of healthcare. Weight gain post-weight-loss surgery may stem from an enlarged stomach opening, reducing fullness and increasing food intake. Apollo Endosurgery's OverStitch system, a minimally invasive approach, addresses this by using sutures to reduce stomach opening size. This reflects Apollo's commitment to transformative improvements in healing endoscopy, emphasizing a shift towards minimally invasive options. The system's versatility and precision in full-thickness suturing offer treatment alternatives, exemplified in applications like Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty for reshaping obesity management. Apollo’s dedication to pioneering advancements suggests ongoing breakthroughs in minimally invasive surgery, positioning the OverStitch systems as a testament to innovation in patient care. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=apollo%20endosurgery" title="apollo endosurgery">apollo endosurgery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=endoscopic%20sleeve%20gastroplasty" title=" endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty"> endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=weight%20loss%20system" title=" weight loss system"> weight loss system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=overstitch%20endoscopic%20suturing%20system" title=" overstitch endoscopic suturing system"> overstitch endoscopic suturing system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=therapeutic" title=" therapeutic"> therapeutic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perforations" title=" perforations"> perforations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fistula" title=" fistula"> fistula</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184878/the-overstitch-and-overstitch-sx-endoscopic-suturing-system-in-bariatric-surgery-closing-perforations-and-fistulas-and-revision-procedures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184878.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">63</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">32</span> Analysis and Prediction of Netflix Viewing History Using Netflixlatte as an Enriched Real Data Pool</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amir%20Mabhout">Amir Mabhout</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Toktam%20Ghafarian"> Toktam Ghafarian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Farzin"> Amirhossein Farzin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahra%20Makki"> Zahra Makki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sajjad%20Alizadeh"> Sajjad Alizadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Ghavi"> Amirhossein Ghavi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The high number of Netflix subscribers makes it attractive for data scientists to extract valuable knowledge from the viewers' behavioural analyses. In addition to the potential benefits of this useful technology, there are various risks and obstacles to applying it in construction projects. In this study, a decision making approach is presented for risk assessment in BIM adoption in construction projects. Various risk factors of exerting BIM during different phases of the project lifecycle are identified with the help of Delphi method, experts&rsquo; opinions and related literature. Afterward, Shannon&rsquo;s entropy and Fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Situation) are applied to derive priorities of the identified risk factors. Results indicated that lack of knowledge between professional engineers about workflows in BIM and conflict of opinions between different stakeholders are the risk factors with the highest priority. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk" title="risk">risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BIM" title=" BIM"> BIM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20TOPSIS" title=" fuzzy TOPSIS"> fuzzy TOPSIS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=construction%20projects" title=" construction projects"> construction projects</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/115013/risk-assessment-of-building-information-modelling-adoption-in-construction-projects" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/115013.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">229</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28</span> Scheduling Nodes Activity and Data Communication for Target Tracking in Wireless Sensor Networks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AmirHossein%20Mohajerzadeh">AmirHossein Mohajerzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Alishahi"> Mohammad Alishahi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saeed%20Aslishahi"> Saeed Aslishahi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohsen%20Zabihi"> Mohsen Zabihi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we consider sensor nodes with the capability of measuring the bearings (relative angle to the target). We use geometric methods to select a set of observer nodes which are responsible for collecting data from the target. Considering the characteristics of target tracking applications, it is clear that significant numbers of sensor nodes are usually inactive. Therefore, in order to minimize the total network energy consumption, a set of sensor nodes, called sentinel, is periodically selected for monitoring, controlling the environment and transmitting data through the network. The other nodes are inactive. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm provides a joint scheduling and routing algorithm to transmit data between network nodes and the fusion center (FC) in which not only provides an efficient way to estimate the target position but also provides an efficient target tracking. Performance evaluation confirms the superiority of the proposed algorithm. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coverage" title="coverage">coverage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=routing" title=" routing"> routing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scheduling" title=" scheduling"> scheduling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=target%20tracking" title=" target tracking"> target tracking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wireless%20sensor%20networks" title=" wireless sensor networks"> wireless sensor networks</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46939/scheduling-nodes-activity-and-data-communication-for-target-tracking-in-wireless-sensor-networks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46939.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">378</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">27</span> The Effects of Modern Materials on the Moisture Resistance Performance of Architectural Buildings</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leyli%20Hashemi%20Rafsanjani">Leyli Hashemi Rafsanjani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hoda%20Mortazavi%20Alavi"> Hoda Mortazavi Alavi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Habibzadeh"> Amirhossein Habibzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> At present, the atmospheric and environmental factors impose massive damages to buildings. Thus, to reduce these damages, researchers pay more attention on qualitative and quantitative characteristic of buildings materials. Condensation is one of the problems in Contemporary Sustecture Design. It could cause serious damages to the frontage, interior and structural elements of buildings. As a result, taking preventative steps to avoid condensation from occurring in buildings will help prevent avoidable and costly problems in the future. Hence, the aim of this paper is to answer the question: “Does the use of advanced materials cause the reduction of condensation formed on the walls?" In response to those flaws, this paper considered similar articles and selected 20 buildings randomly from contemporary architecture of developing countries which have been built in recent decade from 2002 to 2012, to find out the mutual relation between the usage of advanced materials and level of condensation damages. This consideration shows that by using advanced materials, we will have fewer damages. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=condensation" title="condensation">condensation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=advanced%20materials" title=" advanced materials"> advanced materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contemporary%20sustecture" title=" contemporary sustecture"> contemporary sustecture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moisture" title=" moisture"> moisture</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53472/the-effects-of-modern-materials-on-the-moisture-resistance-performance-of-architectural-buildings" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53472.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">323</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> A Novel Multi-Attribute Green Decision Making Model for Environmental Supply Chain Sustainability </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Mahlouji">Amirhossein Mahlouji</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In current business market, the concept of integrating environmental sustainability into long-term as well as routine operations is becoming a prevailing trend. Sensors and stimulators are usually recognized as smart devices of our environment. Simultaneously, IOT security brings up new issues. Internet connection and possibility of interaction with smart devices cause those devices to involve more in human life. Therefore, safety is a fundamental requirement in designing IOT. IOT has three remarkable features: overall perception, reliable transmission, and intelligent processing. Because of IOT span, security of conveying data is an essential factor for system security. Hybrid encryption technique is a new model that can be used in IOT. This type of encryption generates strong security and low computation. In this paper, we have proposed a hybrid encryption algorithm which has been conducted in order to reduce safety risks and enhancing encryption&#39;s speed and less computational complexity. The purpose of this hybrid algorithm is information integrity, confidentiality, non-repudiation in data exchange for IOT. Eventually, the suggested encryption algorithm has been simulated by MATLAB software, and its speed and safety efficiency were evaluated in comparison with conventional encryption algorithm. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internet%20of%20things" title="internet of things">internet of things</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=security" title=" security"> security</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20algorithm" title=" hybrid algorithm"> hybrid algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=privacy" title=" privacy"> privacy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69919/improving-the-security-of-internet-of-things-using-encryption-algorithms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69919.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">467</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">24</span> Multi Tier Data Collection and Estimation, Utilizing Queue Model in Wireless Sensor Networks </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Mohajerzadeh">Amirhossein Mohajerzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abolghasem%20Mohajerzadeh"> Abolghasem Mohajerzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, target parameter is estimated with desirable precision in hierarchical wireless sensor networks (WSN) while the proposed algorithm also tries to prolong network lifetime as much as possible, using efficient data collecting algorithm. Target parameter distribution function is considered unknown. Sensor nodes sense the environment and send the data to the base station called fusion center (FC) using hierarchical data collecting algorithm. FC builds underlying phenomena based on collected data. Considering the aggregation level, x, the goal is providing the essential infrastructure to find the best value for aggregation level in order to prolong network lifetime as much as possible, while desirable accuracy is guaranteed (required sample size is fully depended on desirable precision). First, the sample size calculation algorithm is discussed, second, the average queue length based on M/M[x]/1/K queue model is determined and it is used for energy consumption calculation. Nodes can decrease transmission cost by aggregating incoming data. Furthermore, the performance of the new algorithm is evaluated in terms of lifetime and estimation accuracy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aggregation" title="aggregation">aggregation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=estimation" title=" estimation"> estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=queuing" title=" queuing"> queuing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wireless%20sensor%20network" title=" wireless sensor network"> wireless sensor network</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92838/multi-tier-data-collection-and-estimation-utilizing-queue-model-in-wireless-sensor-networks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92838.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">186</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">23</span> Synthesize And Physicochemical Characterization Of Biomimetic Scaffold Of Gelatin/zn-incorporated 58s Bioactive Glass</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SeyedMohammad%20Hosseini">SeyedMohammad Hosseini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Moghanian"> Amirhossein Moghanian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main purpose of this research was to design a biomimetic system by freeze-drying method for evaluating the effect of adding 5 and 10 mol. % of zinc (Zn)in 58S bioactive glass and gelatin (5ZnBG/G and 10ZnBG/G) in terms of structural and biological changes. The structural analyses of samples were performed by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Also, 3-(4,5dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazoliumbromide(MTT) and alkaline phosphate (ALP) activity test were carried out for investigation of MC3T3-E1cell behaviors. The SEM results demonstrated the spherical shape of the formed hydroxyapatite (HA) phases, and also HA characteristic peaks were detected by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD)after 3 days of immersion in the simulated body fluid (SBF) solution. Meanwhile, FTIR spectra proved that the intensity of P–O peaks for 5ZnBG/G was more than 10ZnBG/G and control samples. Moreover, the results of alkaline phosphatase activity (ALP) test illustrated that the optimal amount of Zn (5ZnBG/G) caused a considerable enhancement in bone cell growth. Taken together, the scaffold with 5 mol.% Zn was introduced as an optimal sample because of its higher biocompatibility, in vitro bioactivity, and growth of MC3T3-E1cellsin in comparison with other samples in bone tissue engineering. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scaffold" title="scaffold">scaffold</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gelatin" title=" gelatin"> gelatin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modified%20bioactive%20glass" title=" modified bioactive glass"> modified bioactive glass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alp" title=" alp"> alp</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bone%20tissue%20engineering" title=" bone tissue engineering"> bone tissue engineering</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157817/synthesize-and-physicochemical-characterization-of-biomimetic-scaffold-of-gelatinzn-incorporated-58s-bioactive-glass" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157817.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">94</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">22</span> The Effects of Vitamin D Supplementation on Anthropometric Indicators of Adiposity and Fat Distribution in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Simin%20Zarea%20Karizi">Simin Zarea Karizi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Somaye%20Fatahi"> Somaye Fatahi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Hosseni"> Amirhossein Hosseni</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: There are conflicting findings regarding the effect of vitamin D supplementation on obesity-related factors. This study aimed to investigate the effect of vitamin D supplementation on changes in anthropometric indicators of adiposity and fat distribution in children and adolescents. Methods: Original databases were searched using standard keywords to identify all controlled trials investigating the effects of vitamin D supplementation on obesity-related factors in children and adolescents. Pooled weighted mean difference and 95% confidence intervals were achieved by random-effects model analysis. Results: Fourteen treatment arms were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. The quantitative meta-analysis revealed no significant effect of vitamin D supplement on BMI (-0.01 kg/m2; 95% CI: -0.09, 0.12; p= 0.74; I2=0.0%), BMI z score (0.02; 95% CI: -0.04, 0.07; p= 0.53; I2=0.0%) and fat mass (0.07%; 95% CI: -0.09 to 0.24; p= 0.38; I2=31.2%). However, the quantitative meta-analysis displayed a significant effect of vitamin D supplementation on WC compared with the control group (WMD=-1.17 cm, 95% CI: -2.05, -0.29, p=0.009; I2=32.0 %). It seems that this effect was greater in healthy children with duration>12 weeks, dose<=400 IU and baseline less than 50 nmol/l vitamin D than others. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that vitamin D supplementation may be a protective factor of abdominal obesity and should be evaluated on an individual basis in clinical practice. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=weight%20loss" title="weight loss">weight loss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vitamin%20D" title=" vitamin D"> vitamin D</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anthropometry" title=" anthropometry"> anthropometry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=children" title=" children"> children</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adolescent" title=" adolescent"> adolescent</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188366/the-effects-of-vitamin-d-supplementation-on-anthropometric-indicators-of-adiposity-and-fat-distribution-in-children-and-adolescents-a-systematic-review-and-meta-analysis-of-randomized-controlled-trials" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188366.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">26</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21</span> Massive Intrapartum Hemorrhage Following by Inner Myometrial Laceration during a Vaginal Delivery: A Rare Case Report</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bahareh%20Khakifirooz">Bahareh Khakifirooz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arian%20Shojaei"> Arian Shojaei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Hajialigol"> Amirhossein Hajialigol</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bahare%20Abdolahi"> Bahare Abdolahi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Laceration of the inner layer of the myometrium can cause massive bleeding during and after childbirth, which can lead to the death of the mother if it is not diagnosed in time. We studied a rare case of massive intrapartum bleeding following myometrial laceration that was diagnosed correctly, and the patient survived with in-time treatments. The patient was a 26 years-old woman who was under observation for term pregnancy and complaint of rupture of membranes (ROM) and vaginal bleeding. Following the spontaneous course of labor and without receiving oxytocin, during the normal course of labor, she had an estimated total blood loss of 750 mL bleeding, which, despite the normal fetal heart rate and with the mother's indication for cesarean section, was transferred to the operating room and underwent cesarean section. During the cesarean section, the amniotic fluid was clear; after the removal of the placenta, severe and clear bleeding was flowing from the posterior wall of the uterus, which was caused by the laceration of the inner layer of the myometrium in the posterior wall of the lower segment of the uterus. The myometrial laceration was repaired with absorbable continuous locked sutures, and hemostasis was established, then, the patient used uterotonic drugs, and after monitoring, the patient was discharged from the hospital in good condition. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intrapartum%20hemorrhage" title="intrapartum hemorrhage">intrapartum hemorrhage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inner%20myometrial%20laceration" title=" inner myometrial laceration"> inner myometrial laceration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=labor" title=" labor"> labor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Increased%20intrauterine%20pressure" title=" Increased intrauterine pressure"> Increased intrauterine pressure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188869/massive-intrapartum-hemorrhage-following-by-inner-myometrial-laceration-during-a-vaginal-delivery-a-rare-case-report" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188869.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">25</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">20</span> Evaluation of the Effect of Intravenous Dexamethasone on Hemodynamic Variables and Hypotension in Female Undergoing Cesarean Section With Spinal Anesthesia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shekoufeh%20Behdad">Shekoufeh Behdad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahar%20Yadegari"> Sahar Yadegari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Ghehrazad"> Alireza Ghehrazad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Yadegari"> Amirhossein Yadegari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: In this study, we compared the effect of intravenous dexamethasone with placebo on hemodynamic variables and hypotension in patients undergoing cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. Materials and methods: This double-blind, randomized clinical trial was conducted with the approval of the university ethics committee. Written informed consent was obtained from all participating patients. Before spinal anesthesia, patients were randomly assigned to receive either dexamethasone (8 mg IV) or placebo (normal saline). Hemodynamic variables, including systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial blood pressures, as well as heart rate, were measured before drug administration and every 3 minutes until the birth of the neonate and then every 5 minutes until the end of surgery. Side effects such as hypotension, bradycardia, nausea, and vomiting were assessed and recorded for all the patients. Results: There were no significant differences in mean systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial blood pressures before and after administration of the studied drugs in both groups (P.Value>0.05), but heart rate and the incidence of hypotension in the dexamethasone group were less than placebo significantly. Conclusions: Intravenous administration of 8 mg dexamethasone before spinal anesthesia in females undergoing cesarean section can reduce the incidence of post-spinal hypotension without causing serious side effects. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cesarean%20section" title="cesarean section">cesarean section</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hypotension" title=" hypotension"> hypotension</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spinal%20anesthesia" title=" spinal anesthesia"> spinal anesthesia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dexamethasone" title=" dexamethasone"> dexamethasone</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176309/evaluation-of-the-effect-of-intravenous-dexamethasone-on-hemodynamic-variables-and-hypotension-in-female-undergoing-cesarean-section-with-spinal-anesthesia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176309.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">77</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">19</span> A Bi-Objective Model to Optimize the Total Time and Idle Probability for Facility Location Problem Behaving as M/M/1/K Queues</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Chambari">Amirhossein Chambari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This article proposes a bi-objective model for the facility location problem subject to congestion (overcrowding). Motivated by implementations to locate servers in internet mirror sites, communication networks, one-server-systems, so on. This model consider for situations in which immobile (or fixed) service facilities are congested (or queued) by stochastic demand to behave as M/M/1/K queues. We consider for this problem two simultaneous perspectives; (1) Customers (desire to limit times of accessing and waiting for service) and (2) Service provider (desire to limit average facility idle-time). A bi-objective model is setup for facility location problem with two objective functions; (1) Minimizing sum of expected total traveling and waiting time (customers) and (2) Minimizing the average facility idle-time percentage (service provider). The proposed model belongs to the class of mixed-integer nonlinear programming models and the class of NP-hard problems. In addition, to solve the model, controlled elitist non-dominated sorting genetic algorithms (Controlled NSGA-II) and controlled elitist non-dominated ranking genetic algorithms (NRGA-I) are proposed. Furthermore, the two proposed metaheuristics algorithms are evaluated by establishing standard multiobjective metrics. Finally, the results are analyzed and some conclusions are given. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bi-objective" title="bi-objective">bi-objective</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=facility%20location" title=" facility location"> facility location</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=queueing" title=" queueing"> queueing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=controlled%20NSGA-II" title=" controlled NSGA-II"> controlled NSGA-II</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NRGA-I" title=" NRGA-I"> NRGA-I</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28474/a-bi-objective-model-to-optimize-the-total-time-and-idle-probability-for-facility-location-problem-behaving-as-mm1k-queues" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28474.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">583</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18</span> Risperidone for the Treatment of Retentive Fecal Incontinence in Children and Adolescents: A Randomize Clinical Trial</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghazal%20Zahed">Ghazal Zahed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leila%20Tabatabaee"> Leila Tabatabaee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Hosseini"> Amirhossein Hosseini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Somaye%20Fatahi"> Somaye Fatahi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Functional retentive overflow incontinence (Retentive FI) is the most common cause of fecal soiling in children. Affected patients may have more problems with their parents and peer group, self-esteem issues, and more psychiatric comorbidities than the general population. Therapeutic interventions for Retentive FI and related problems and comorbid conditions are needed at the same time. Based on the clinical experiences, patients with retentive FI and comorbid psychiatric disorders, were accelerated in their treatment of fecal incontinence when they were being treated with Risperidone for their psychiatric comorbidities, therefore this study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Risperidone in the treatment of Retentive FI in children and adolescents. In this double-blind randomized clinical trial, 136 patients aged 4-18 years eligible for the study were randomly divided into two groups receiving Risperidone and placebo. About half of these patients had newly diagnosed psychiatric disorders and were drug naïve, this was considered in their division. In addition to polyethylene glycol, all the participants received family counseling and education for withholding behaviors and related behavioral interventions, and nonpharmacological interventions for psychiatric comorbidities. A significant correlation was observed between the duration of treatment with risperidone and the presence of psychiatric comorbidities (P <0.001) for diurnal fecal incontinence. Based on our findings in this study, Risperidone, used commonly for psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents, may be useful in the treatment of retentive fecal incontinence in the presence of psychiatric comorbidities, and along with other interventions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Retentive%20Fecal%20Incontinence" title="Retentive Fecal Incontinence">Retentive Fecal Incontinence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Risperidone" title=" Risperidone"> Risperidone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Treatment" title=" Treatment"> Treatment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pediatric" title=" Pediatric"> Pediatric</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Encopresis" title=" Encopresis"> Encopresis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Atypical%20Antipsychotics" title=" Atypical Antipsychotics"> Atypical Antipsychotics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fecal%20Soiling" title=" Fecal Soiling"> Fecal Soiling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152045/risperidone-for-the-treatment-of-retentive-fecal-incontinence-in-children-and-adolescents-a-randomize-clinical-trial" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152045.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">118</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">17</span> Potential Drug-Drug Interactions at a Referral Hematology-Oncology Ward in Iran: A Cross-Sectional Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sara%20Ataei">Sara Ataei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Molouk%20Hadjibabaie"> Molouk Hadjibabaie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shirinsadat%20Badri"> Shirinsadat Badri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Moslehi"> Amirhossein Moslehi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iman%20Karimzadeh"> Iman Karimzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ardeshir%20Ghavamzadeh"> Ardeshir Ghavamzadeh </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Purpose: To assess the pattern and probable risk factors for moderate and major drug–drug interactions in a referral hematology-oncology ward in Iran. Methods: All patients admitted to hematology–oncology ward of Dr. Shariati Hospital during a 6-month period and received at least two anti-cancer or non-anti-cancer medications simultaneously were included. All being scheduled anti-cancer and non-anti-cancer medications both prescribed and administered during ward stay were considered for drug–drug interaction screening by Lexi-Interact On- Desktop software. Results: One hundred and eighty-five drug–drug interactions with moderate or major severity were detected from 83 patients. Most of drug–drug interactions (69.73 %) were classified as pharmacokinetics. Fluconazole (25.95 %) was the most commonly offending medication in drug–drug interactions. Interaction of sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim with fluconazole was the most common drug–drug interaction (27.27 %). Vincristine with imatinib was the only identified interaction between two anti-cancer agents. The number of administered medications during ward stay was considered as an independent risk factor for developing a drug–drug interaction. Conclusions: Potential moderate or major drug–drug interactions occur frequently in patients with hematological malignancies or related diseases. This study aimed to assess the association between opium use and angiographic findings in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) diagnosis at Al-Zahra Heart Hospital, Shiraz, Iran. Methods: In this case-control study, 170 patients admitted for coronary angiography were enrolled from 2019 to 2020. They were categorized into two groups based on their history: "non-opium" and "opium." SPSS (Version 26) was used to investigate the correlation between opioid addiction and the severity of coronary artery disease. Results: The results of our study reveal that the mean age of the participants was 61.63±9.07. This study indicated that 49 (28.82%) patients were female, and 121 (71.17%) were male. Our findings revealed that three-vessel disease was more frequent in non-opium (40; 47.05%) and opium (45; 52.94%) groups. There was a significant correlation between the severity of the second diagonal artery(D2) and right coronary artery(RCA) involvement and opium consumption. There was a strong positive correlation between the location of the vascular lesion in the left circumflex artery and opium consumption. Conclusion: Opium, as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, can have specific effects on angiographic findings in patients with coronary artery disease. Public health officials and politicians should arrange several programs to increase the general population’s consciousness about opioid use and its consequences. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acute%20coronary%20syndrome" title="acute coronary syndrome">acute coronary syndrome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=opium" title=" opium"> opium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coronary%20artery%20disease" title=" coronary artery disease"> coronary artery disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=angiography" title=" angiography"> angiography</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154519/impacts-of-opium-addiction-on-patterns-of-angiographic-findings-in-patients-with-coronary-artery-syndrome" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154519.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">131</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> The Effects of Pilates and McKenzie Exercises on Quality of Life and Lumbar Spine Position Sense in Patients with Low Back Pain: A Comparative Study with a 4-Week Follow-Up</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vahid%20Mazloum">Vahid Mazloum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mansour%20Sahebozamani"> Mansour Sahebozamani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Barati"> Amirhossein Barati</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nouzar%20Nakhaee"> Nouzar Nakhaee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pouya%20Rabiei"> Pouya Rabiei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Non-specific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP) is a common condition with no exact diagnosis and mechanism for its occurrence. In this randomized clinical trial, 47 patients with NSCLBP were voluntarily divided into three groups of Pilates (n=16) (with mean age 37.1 &plusmn; 9.5 years, height 168.9 &plusmn; 7.4 cm, body mass 76.1 &plusmn; 5.9 k), McKenzie (n=15) (with mean age 42.7 &plusmn; 8.1 years, height 165.7 &plusmn; 6.8, body mass 74.1 &plusmn; 4.8 kg) and control (n=16) (with mean age 39.3 &plusmn; 9.8 years, height 168.1 &plusmn; 8.1 cm, body mass 74.2 &plusmn; 5.8 kg). Primary outcome included QOL and secondary was LSPS. Both variables were assessed by the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires and electrogoniameter, respectively. The measurements were performed at baseline, following a 6-week intervention, and after a 4-week follow-up. The ANCOVA test at P &lt; 0.05 was administrated to analyze the collected data using SPSS software. There was a statistically significant difference between experimental groups and the control group to improve QOL. But, no difference was seen regarding the effects of two exercises on LSPS (p &lt; 0.05). Both Pilates and Mackenzie exercises demonstrated improvement in QOL after 6-week intervention and a 4-week follow-up while none of them considerably affected LSPS. Further studies are required to establish a supporting evidence for the effectiveness of two exercises on NSCLBP. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pilates" title="pilates">pilates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mackenzie" title=" Mackenzie"> Mackenzie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=preconception" title=" preconception"> preconception</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20back%20pain" title=" low back pain"> low back pain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physical%20health" title=" physical health"> physical health</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76617/the-effects-of-pilates-and-mckenzie-exercises-on-quality-of-life-and-lumbar-spine-position-sense-in-patients-with-low-back-pain-a-comparative-study-with-a-4-week-follow-up" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76617.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">191</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> Emotional, Behavioral and Social Problems in Children with Fecal Incontinence by Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL): A Cross-sectional Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roshanak%20Farjad">Roshanak Farjad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Hosseini"> Amirhossein Hosseini</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Fecal incontinence (FI) is a stressful condition for children and their parents that may affect the patient’s psychological well-being. Evaluating the patients’ psychological status may help physicians manage the disease effectively. This study aimed to assess the emotional and behavioral disturbances in children with FI who were referred to the pediatric gastroenterology clinic in Mofid Children’s Hospital from April 2021 to 2022. This cross-sectional study included children (over four years old) with chronic constipation and fecal incontinence. The diagnosis of chronic constipation and FI were made according to Rome-IV criteria. The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) evaluated patients’ emotional, behavioral, and social problems. One hundred one patients with a mean age of 7.96 years were enrolled in the study; 67.32% were males. According to CBCL, 12% (12 patients) indicated emotional and behavioral problems, with CBCL scores in the clinical or at-risk range. We detected anxious/depressed problems in five (4.95%), withdrawn/depressed problems in eight (7.92%), somatic complaints in seven (6.93%), social problems in eight (7.92%), thought problems in nine (8.91%), attention problems in seven (6.93%), rule-breaking behavior in two (1.98%), and aggressive behavior in nine (8.91%) patients. The risk of internalizing and externalizing disorders was reported in four (3.96%) and five (4.95%) patients. Also, eight (7.92%) and seven (6.93%) patients had clinical symptoms of internalizing and externalizing disorders, respectively. There was no significant relationship between patients’ age and gender with the CBCL scores in any subscales. However, there was a significant difference in the total score among the age groups (P = 0.04). The relatively high prevalence of emotional, behavioral, and social problems in our study corroborates the importance of psychological screening of children with FI during the treatment process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chronic%20constipation" title="chronic constipation">chronic constipation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=child%20behavior%20checklist%20%28CBCL%29" title=" child behavior checklist (CBCL)"> child behavior checklist (CBCL)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fecal%20incontinence" title=" fecal incontinence"> fecal incontinence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rome-IV%20criteria" title=" rome-IV criteria"> rome-IV criteria</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168978/emotional-behavioral-and-social-problems-in-children-with-fecal-incontinence-by-child-behavior-checklist-cbcl-a-cross-sectional-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168978.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">75</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> The Effect of Simultaneous Doping of Silicate Bioglass with Alkaline and Alkaline-Earth Elements on Biological Behavior</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tannaz%20Alimardani">Tannaz Alimardani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Moghanian"> Amirhossein Moghanian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morteza%20Elsa"> Morteza Elsa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Bioactive glasses (BGs) are a group of surface-reactive biomaterials used in clinical applications as implants or filler materials in the human body to repair and replace diseased or damaged bone. Sol-gel technique was employed to prepare a SiO₂-CaO-P₂O₅ glass with a nominal composition of 58S BG with the addition of Sr and Li modifiers which imparts special properties to the BG. The effect of simultaneous addition of Sr and Li on bioactivity and biocompatibility, proliferation, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity of osteoblast cell line MC3T3-E1 and antibacterial property against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteria were examined. BGs were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy before and after soaking the samples in the simulated body fluid (SBF) for different time intervals to characterize the formation of hydroxyapatite (HA) formed on the surface of BGs. Structural characterization indicated that the simultaneous presence of 5% Sr and 5% Li in 58S-BG composition not only did not retard HA formation because of the opposite effect of Sr and Li of the dissolution of BG in the SBF, but also stimulated the differentiation and proliferation of MC3T3-E1s. Moreover, the presence of Sr and Li on the dissolution of the ions resulted in an increase in the mean number of DAPI-labeled nuclei which was in good agreement with the live/dead assay. The result of antibacterial tests revealed that Sr and Li-substituted 58S bioactive glass exhibited a potential antibacterial effect against MRSA bacteria. Because of optimal proliferation and ALP activity of MC3T3-E1cells, proper bioactivity and high antibacterial potential against MRSA, BG-5/5 is suggested as a multifunctional candidate for bone tissue engineering. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alkaline" title="alkaline">alkaline</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alkaline%20earth" title=" alkaline earth"> alkaline earth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bioglass" title=" bioglass"> bioglass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=co-doping" title=" co-doping"> co-doping</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ion%20release" title=" ion release"> ion release</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108131/the-effect-of-simultaneous-doping-of-silicate-bioglass-with-alkaline-and-alkaline-earth-elements-on-biological-behavior" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108131.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">224</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> Comparative Study of Calcium Content on in vitro Biological and Antibacterial Properties of Silicon-Based Bioglass</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morteza%20Elsa">Morteza Elsa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Moghanian"> Amirhossein Moghanian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The major aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of CaO content on <em>in vitro</em> hydroxyapatite formation, MC3T3 cells cytotoxicity and proliferation as well as antibacterial efficiency of sol-gel derived SiO2–CaO–P2O5 ternary system. For this purpose, first two grades of bioactive glass (BG); BG-58s (mol%: 60%SiO2–36%CaO–4%P2O5) and BG-68s (mol%: 70%SiO2–26%CaO–4%P2O5)) were synthesized by sol-gel method. Second, the effect of CaO content in their composition on <em>in vitro</em> bioactivity was investigated by soaking the BG-58s and BG-68s powders in simulated body fluid (SBF) for time periods up to 14 days and followed by characterization inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Additionally, live/dead staining, 3-(4,5dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity assays were conducted respectively, as qualitatively and quantitatively assess for cell viability, proliferation and differentiations of MC3T3 cells in presence of 58s and 68s BGs. Results showed that BG-58s with higher CaO content showed higher <em>in vitro</em> bioactivity with respect to BG-68s. Moreover, the dissolution rate was inversely proportional to oxygen density of the BG. Live/dead assay revealed that both 58s and 68s increased the mean number live cells which were in good accordance with MTT assay. Furthermore, BG-58s showed more potential antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant <em>Staphylococcus aureus</em> (MRSA) bacteria. Taken together, BG-58s with enhanced MC3T3 cells proliferation and ALP activity, acceptable bioactivity and significant high antibacterial effect against MRSA bacteria is suggested as a suitable candidate in order to further functionalizing for delivery of therapeutic ions and growth factors in bone tissue engineering. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antibacterial" title="antibacterial">antibacterial</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bioactive%20glass" title=" bioactive glass"> bioactive glass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydroxyapatite" title=" hydroxyapatite"> hydroxyapatite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=proliferation" title=" proliferation"> proliferation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sol-gel%20processes" title=" sol-gel processes"> sol-gel processes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105544/comparative-study-of-calcium-content-on-in-vitro-biological-and-antibacterial-properties-of-silicon-based-bioglass" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105544.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Comparative Study on the Effect of Substitution of Li and Mg Instead of Ca on Structural and Biological Behaviors of Silicate Bioactive Glass</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Arab">Alireza Arab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morteza%20Elsa"> Morteza Elsa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Moghanian"> Amirhossein Moghanian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, experiments were carried out to achieve a promising multifunctional and modified silicate based bioactive glass (BG). The main aim of the study was investigating the effect of lithium (Li) and magnesium (Mg) substitution, on <em>in vitro</em> bioactivity of substituted-58S BG. Moreover, it is noteworthy to state that modified BGs were synthesized in 60SiO2&ndash;(36-x)CaO&ndash;4P2O5&ndash;(x)Li2O and 60SiO2&ndash;(36-x)CaO&ndash;4P2O5&ndash;(x)MgO (where x = 0, 5, 10 mol.%) quaternary systems, by sol-gel method. Their performance was investigated through different aspects such as biocompatibility, antibacterial activity as well as their effect on alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, and proliferation of MC3T3 cells. The antibacterial efficiency was evaluated against methicillin-resistant <em>Staphylococcus aureus</em> bacteria. To do so, CaO was substituted with Li2O and MgO up to 10 mol % in 58S-BGs and then samples were immersed in simulated body fluid up to 14 days and then, characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry, and scanning electron microscopy. Results indicated that this modification led to a retarding effect on <em>in vitro</em> hydroxyapatite (HA) formation due to the lower supersaturation degree for nucleation of HA compared with 58s-BG. Meanwhile, magnesium revealed further pronounced effect. The 3-(4,5 dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and ALP analysis illustrated that substitutions of both Li2O and MgO, up to 5 mol %, had increasing effect on biocompatibility and stimulating proliferation of the pre-osteoblast MC3T3 cells in comparison to the control specimen. Regarding to bactericidal efficiency, the substitution of either Li or Mg for Ca in the 58s BG composition led to statistically significant difference in antibacterial behaviors of substituted-BGs. Meanwhile, the sample containing 5 mol % CaO/Li2O substitution (BG-5L) was selected as a multifunctional biomaterial in bone repair/regeneration due to the improved biocompatibility, enhanced ALP activity and antibacterial efficiency among all of the synthesized L-BGs and M-BGs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alkaline" title="alkaline">alkaline</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alkaline%20earth" title=" alkaline earth"> alkaline earth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bioactivity" title=" bioactivity"> bioactivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomedical%20applications" title=" biomedical applications"> biomedical applications</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sol-gel%20processes" title=" sol-gel processes"> sol-gel processes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130883/comparative-study-on-the-effect-of-substitution-of-li-and-mg-instead-of-ca-on-structural-and-biological-behaviors-of-silicate-bioactive-glass" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130883.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">108</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Machinability Analysis in Drilling Flax Fiber-Reinforced Polylactic Acid Bio-Composite Laminates</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Lotfi">Amirhossein Lotfi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huaizhong%20Li"> Huaizhong Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dzung%20Viet%20Dao"> Dzung Viet Dao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Interest in natural fiber-reinforced composites (NFRC) is progressively growing both in terms of academia research and industrial applications thanks to their abundant advantages such as low cost, biodegradability, eco-friendly nature and relatively good mechanical properties. However, their widespread use is still presumed as challenging because of the specificity of their non-homogeneous structure, limited knowledge on their machinability characteristics and parameter settings, to avoid defects associated with the machining process. The present work is aimed to investigate the effect of the cutting tool geometry and material on the drilling-induced delamination, thrust force and hole quality produced when drilling a fully biodegradable flax/poly (lactic acid) composite laminate. Three drills with different geometries and material were used at different drilling conditions to evaluate the machinability of the fabricated composites. The experimental results indicated that the choice of cutting tool, in terms of material and geometry, has a noticeable influence on the cutting thrust force and subsequently drilling-induced damages. The lower value of thrust force and better hole quality was observed using high-speed steel (HSS) drill, whereas Carbide drill (with point angle of 130o) resulted in the highest value of thrust force. Carbide drill presented higher wear resistance and stability in variation of thrust force with a number of holes drilled, while HSS drill showed the lower value of thrust force during the drilling process. Finally, within the selected cutting range, the delamination damage increased noticeably with feed rate and moderately with spindle speed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20fiber%20reinforced%20composites" title="natural fiber reinforced composites">natural fiber reinforced composites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=delamination" title=" delamination"> delamination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thrust%20force" title=" thrust force"> thrust force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machinability" title=" machinability"> machinability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111475/machinability-analysis-in-drilling-flax-fiber-reinforced-polylactic-acid-bio-composite-laminates" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111475.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">128</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Urine Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin as an Early Marker of Acute Kidney Injury in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Patients</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sara%20Ataei">Sara Ataei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maryam%20Taghizadeh-Ghehi"> Maryam Taghizadeh-Ghehi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amir%20Sarayani"> Amir Sarayani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asieh%20Ashouri"> Asieh Ashouri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Moslehi"> Amirhossein Moslehi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Molouk%20Hadjibabaie"> Molouk Hadjibabaie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kheirollah%20Gholami"> Kheirollah Gholami</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) patients with an incidence of 21–73%. Prevention and early diagnosis reduces the frequency and severity of this complication. Predictive biomarkers are of major importance to timely diagnosis. Neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) is a widely investigated novel biomarker for early diagnosis of AKI. However, no study assessed NGAL for AKI diagnosis in HSCT patients. Methods: We performed further analyses on gathered data from our recent trial to evaluate the performance of urine NGAL (uNGAL) as an indicator of AKI in 72 allogeneic HSCT patients. AKI diagnosis and severity were assessed using Risk–Injury–Failure–Loss–End-stage renal disease and AKI Network criteria. We assessed uNGAL on days -6, -3, +3, +9 and +15. Results: Time-dependent Cox regression analysis revealed a statistically significant relationship between uNGAL and AKI occurrence. (HR=1.04 (1.008-1.07), P=0.01). There was a relation between uNGAL day +9 to baseline ratio and incidence of AKI (unadjusted HR=.1.047(1.012-1.083), P<0.01). The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve for day +9 to baseline ratio was 0.86 (0.74-0.99, P<0.01) and a cut-off value of 2.62 was 85% sensitive and 83% specific in predicting AKI. Conclusions: Our results indicated that increase in uNGAL augmented the risk of AKI and the changes of day +9 uNGAL concentrations from baseline could be of value for predicting AKI in HSCT patients. Additionally uNGAL changes preceded serum creatinine rises by nearly 2 days. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acute%20kidney%20injury" title="acute kidney injury">acute kidney injury</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hemtopoietic%20stem%20cell%20transplantation" title=" hemtopoietic stem cell transplantation"> hemtopoietic stem cell transplantation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neutrophil%20gelatinase-associated%20lipocalin" title=" neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin"> neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Receiver-operating%20characteristic%20curve" title=" Receiver-operating characteristic curve "> Receiver-operating characteristic curve </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17979/urine-neutrophil-gelatinase-associated-lipocalin-as-an-early-marker-of-acute-kidney-injury-in-hematopoietic-stem-cell-transplantation-patients" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17979.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">409</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Load Transfer of Steel Pipe Piles in Warming Permafrost</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Amirhossein%20Tabatabaei">S. The frozen soil-structure interaction, which in ice-poor soils is controlled by both interface shear and ice-bonding, changes its nature into a sole frictional state. Adfreeze, the controlling mechanism in frozen soil-structure interaction, diminishes as the ground temperature approaches zero. The main purpose of this paper is to capture the altered behaviour of frozen interface with respect to rising temperature, especially near melting states. A series of pull-out tests are conducted on model piles inside a cold room to study how the strength parameters are influenced by the phase change in ice-poor soils. Steel model piles, embedded in artificially frozen cohesionless soil, are subjected to both sustained pull-out forces and constant rates of displacement to observe the creep behaviour and acquire load-deformation curves, respectively. Temperature, as the main variable of interest, is increased from a lower limit of -10°C up to the point of melting. During different stages of the temperature rise, both skin deformations and temperatures are recorded at various depths along the pile shaft. Significant reduction of pullout capacity and accelerated creep behaviour is found to be the primary consequences of rising temperature. By investigating the different pull-out capacities and deformations measured during step-wise temperature change, characteristics of the transition from frozen to unfrozen soil-structure interaction are studied. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adfreeze" title="Adfreeze">Adfreeze</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frozen%20soil-structure%20interface" title=" frozen soil-structure interface"> frozen soil-structure interface</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ice-poor%20soils" title=" ice-poor soils"> ice-poor soils</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pull-out%20capacity" title=" pull-out capacity"> pull-out capacity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=warming%20permafrost" title=" warming permafrost"> warming permafrost</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150679/load-transfer-of-steel-pipe-piles-in-warming-permafrost" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150679.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">111</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> Comparative Evaluation on in vitro Bioactivity, Proliferation and Antibacterial Efficiency of Sol-Gel Derived Bioactive Glass Substituted by Li and Mg</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Moghanian">Amirhossein Moghanian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morteza%20Elsa"> Morteza Elsa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehrnaz%20Aminitabar"> Mehrnaz Aminitabar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Modified bioactive glass has been considered as a promising multifunctional candidate in bone repair and regeneration due to its attractive properties. The research centers on integrating Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems with building energy systems, incorporating Solar Thermal Collectors (STC)/Photovoltaic Thermal (PVT), water-to-water heat pumps, and an Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) based building foundation wall thermal energy storage. The study explores an innovative configuration’s effectiveness in addressing water and heating demands through clean energy sources while addressing ICF-based thermal storage challenges, which could overheat in the cooling season. Analyzing four configurations—STC-ICF, STC-ICF-RO, PVT-ICF, and PVT-ICF-RO, the study conducts a sensitivity analysis on collector area (25% and 50% increase) and weather data (evaluating five Canadian cities, Winnipeg, Toronto, Edmonton, Halifax and Vancouver). Key outcomes highlight the benefits of integrated RO scenarios, showcasing reduced ICF wall temperature, diminished unwanted heat in the cooling season, reduced RO pump consumption and enhanced solar energy production. The STC-ICF-RO and PVT-ICF-RO systems achieved energy savings of 653 kWh and 131 kWh, respectively, in comparison to their non-integrated RO counterparts. Additionally, both systems successfully contributed to lowering the CO2 production level of the energy system. The calculated payback period of STC-ICF-RO (2 years) affirms the proposed systems’ economic viability. Compared to the base system, which does not benefit from the ICF and RO integration with the building energy system, the STC-ICF-RO and PVT-ICF-RO demonstrate a dramatic energy consumption reduction of 20% and 32%, respectively. The sensitivity analysis suggests potential system improvements under specific conditions, especially when implementing the introduced energy system in communities of buildings. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=insulated%20concrete%20form" title="insulated concrete form">insulated concrete form</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20energy%20storage" title=" thermal energy storage"> thermal energy storage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reverse%20osmosis" title=" reverse osmosis"> reverse osmosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20energy%20systems" title=" building energy systems"> building energy systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solar%20thermal%20collector" title=" solar thermal collector"> solar thermal collector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photovoltaic%20thermal" title=" photovoltaic thermal"> photovoltaic thermal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20pump" title=" heat pump"> heat pump</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184025/integrating-insulated-concrete-form-icf-with-solar-driven-reverse-osmosis-desalination-for-building-integrated-energy-storage-in-cold-climates" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184025.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">54</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Transportation Mode Choice Analysis for Accessibility of the Mehrabad International Airport by Statistical Models</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Navid%20Mirzaei%20Varzeghani">Navid Mirzaei Varzeghani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmoud%20Saffarzadeh"> Mahmoud Saffarzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Naderan"> Ali Naderan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirhossein%20Taheri"> Amirhossein Taheri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Countries are progressing, and the world's busiest airports see year-on-year increases in travel demand. Passenger acceptability of an airport depends on the airport's appeals, which may include one of these routes between the city and the airport, as well as the facilities to reach them. One of the critical roles of transportation planners is to predict future transportation demand so that an integrated, multi-purpose system can be provided and diverse modes of transportation (rail, air, and land) can be delivered to a destination like an airport. In this study, 356 questionnaires were filled out in person over six days. First, the attraction of business and non-business trips was studied using data and a linear regression model. Lower travel costs, a range of ages more significant than 55, and other factors are essential for business trips. Non-business travelers, on the other hand, have prioritized using personal vehicles to get to the airport and ensuring convenient access to the airport. Business travelers are also less price-sensitive than non-business travelers regarding airport travel. Furthermore, carrying additional luggage (for example, more than one suitcase per person) undoubtedly decreases the attractiveness of public transit. Afterward, based on the manner and purpose of the trip, the locations with the highest trip generation to the airport were identified. The most famous district in Tehran was District 2, with 23 visits, while the most popular mode of transportation was an online taxi, with 12 trips from that location. Then, significant variables in separation and behavior of travel methods to access the airport were investigated for all systems. In this scenario, the most crucial factor is the time it takes to get to the airport, followed by the method's user-friendliness as a component of passenger preference. It has also been demonstrated that enhancing public transportation trip times reduces private transportation's market share, including taxicabs.
