Region 1 encompasses 6,580 square miles. The employees of this region maintain 5,300 highway lane-miles and 828 state bridges. The Capital District Transportation Committee and the Adirondack/Glens Falls Transportation Council are the two Metropolitan Planning Organizations within the region.
