<span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>but I have chosen<MH977> Jerusalem<MH3389> so that My name<MH8034> might be there<MH8033>, and I have chosen<MH977> David<MH1732> to be over<MH5921> My people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Now it was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>in the heart<MH3824> of my father<MH1> David<MH1732> to build<MH1129> a house<MH1004> for the name<MH8034> of the LORD<MH3068>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to my father<MH1> David<MH1732>, ‘Because<MH3282, 834> it was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>in your heart<MH3824> to build<MH1129> a house<MH1004> for My name<MH8034>, you did<MH2895> well<MH2895> that it was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>in your heart<MH3824>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Nevertheless<MH7534b> you shall not build<MH1129> the house<MH1004>, but your son<MH1121> who <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>will be born<MH3318, 2504> to you, he shall build<MH1129> the house<MH1004> for My name<MH8034>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Now the LORD<MH3068> has fulfilled<MH6965> His word<MH1697> which<MH834> He spoke<MH1696>; for I have risen<MH6965> in<MH8478> place<MH8478> of<MH8478> my father<MH1> David<MH1732> and sit<MH3427> on the throne<MH3678> of Israel<MH3478>, as the LORD<MH3068> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>promised<MH1696>, and have built<MH1129> the house<MH1004> for the name<MH8034> of the LORD<MH3068>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>There<MH8033> I have placed<MH7760> the ark<MH727> in which<MH834> is the covenant<MH1285> of the LORD<MH3068>, which<MH834> He made<MH3772> with the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>.” <p class="hdg">Solomon’s Prayer of Dedication</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then he stood<MH5975> before<MH6440> the altar<MH4196> of the LORD<MH3068> in the presence<MH5048> of all<MH3605> the assembly<MH6951> of Israel<MH3478> and spread<MH6566> out<MH6566> his hands<MH3709>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>For Solomon<MH8010> had made<MH6213a> a bronze<MH5178> platform<MH3595>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>five<MH2568> cubits<MH520> long<MH753>, five<MH2568> cubits<MH520> wide<MH7341>, and three<MH7969> cubits<MH520> high<MH6967>, and had set<MH5414> it in the midst<MH8432> of the courtyard<MH5835>; and he stood<MH5975> on it, knelt<MH1288> on his knees<MH1290> in the presence<MH5048> of all<MH3605> the assembly<MH6951> of Israel<MH3478> and spread<MH6566> out<MH6566> his hands<MH3709> toward heaven<MH8064>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>He said<MH559>, “LORD<MH3068>, God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478>, there<MH369> is<MH369> no<MH369> god<MH430> like<MH3644> You in heaven<MH8064> or on earth<MH776>, keeping<MH8104> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>Your covenant<MH1285> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>Your faithfulness<MH2617a> to Your servants<MH5650> who walk<MH1980> before<MH6440> You with all<MH3605> their heart<MH3820>; You have spoken<MH1696> with Your mouth<MH6310> and have fulfilled<MH4390> it with Your hand<MH3027>, as <i>it is</i> this<MH2088> day<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Now<MH6258> then, LORD<MH3068>, God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478>, keep<MH8104> to Your servant<MH5650> David<MH1732>, my father<MH1>, that which<MH834> You <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>promised<MH1696> him, saying<MH559>, ‘<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>You shall not lack<MH3772> a man<MH376> to sit<MH3427> on the throne<MH3678> of Israel<MH3478>, if<MH518> only<MH7534b> your sons<MH1121> pay<MH8104> attention<MH8104> to their way<MH1870>, to walk<MH1980> in My Law<MH8451> as you have walked<MH1980> before<MH6440> Me.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Now<MH6258> then, LORD<MH3068>, God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478>, let Your word<MH1697> be confirmed<MH539> which<MH834> You have spoken<MH1696> to Your servant<MH5650> David<MH1732>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>“But will God<MH430> really<MH552> dwell<MH3427> with mankind<MH120> on the earth<MH776>? Behold<MH2009>, heaven<MH8064> and the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>highest<MH8064> heaven<MH8064> cannot<MH3808> contain<MH3557> You; how<MH637> much<MH637, 3588> less<MH637> this<MH2088> house<MH1004> which<MH834> I have built<MH1129>! <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Nevertheless, turn<MH6437> Your attention<MH6437> to the prayer<MH8605> of Your servant<MH5650> and to his plea<MH8467>, LORD<MH3068>, my God<MH430>, to listen<MH8085> to the cry<MH7440> and to the prayer<MH8605> which<MH834> Your servant<MH5650> prays<MH6419> before<MH6440> You; <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>that Your eye<MH5869> will be open<MH6605a> toward<MH413> this<MH2088> house<MH1004> day<MH3119> and night<MH3915>, toward<MH413> the place<MH4725> of which<MH834> You have said<MH559> that <i>You would</i> put<MH7760> Your name<MH8034> there<MH8033>, to listen<MH8085> to the prayer<MH8605> which<MH834> Your servant<MH5650> shall pray<MH6419> toward<MH413> this<MH2088> place<MH4725>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Listen<MH8085> to the pleadings<MH8469> of Your servant<MH5650> and of Your people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478> when<MH834> they pray<MH6419> toward<MH413> this<MH2088> place<MH4725>; hear<MH8085> from Your dwelling<MH3427> place<MH4725>, from heaven<MH8064>; hear<MH8085> and forgive<MH5545>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>“If<MH518> someone<MH376> sins<MH2398> against his neighbor<MH7453> and is made<MH5377> to take<MH422> an<MH422> oath<MH423>, and he comes<MH935> <i>and</i> takes<MH422> an<MH422> oath<MH422> before<MH6440> Your altar<MH4196> in this<MH2088> house<MH1004>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>then hear<MH8085> from heaven<MH8064> and take<MH6213a> action<MH6213a> and judge<MH8199> Your servants<MH5650>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>punishing<MH7725> the wicked<MH7563> by bringing<MH5414> his way<MH1870> on his own head<MH7218>, and justifying<MH6663> the righteous<MH6662> by <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>repaying<MH5414> him according to his righteousness<MH6666>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>“If<MH518> Your people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478> are <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>defeated<MH5062> before<MH6440> an enemy<MH340> because<MH3588> they have sinned<MH2398> against You, and they return<MH7725> <i>to You</i> and praise<MH3034> Your name<MH8034>, and pray<MH6419> and plead<MH2603a> before<MH6440> You in this<MH2088> house<MH1004>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>then hear<MH8085> from heaven<MH8064> and forgive<MH5545> the sin<MH2403b> of Your people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>, and bring<MH7725> them back<MH7725> to the land<MH127> which<MH834> You have given<MH5414> to them and to their fathers<MH1>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>“When the heavens<MH8064> are shut<MH6113> up<MH6113> and there is no<MH3808> rain<MH4306> because<MH3588> they have sinned<MH2398> against You, and they pray<MH6419> toward<MH413> this<MH2088> place<MH4725> and praise<MH3034> Your name<MH8034>, and turn<MH7725> from their sin<MH2403b> when<MH3588> You afflict<MH6031a> them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>then hear<MH8085> in heaven<MH8064> and forgive<MH5545> the sin<MH2403b> of Your servants<MH5650> and Your people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>; indeed<MH3588>, teach<MH3384> them the good<MH2896a> way<MH1870> in which<MH834> they are to walk<MH1980>. And provide<MH5414> rain<MH4306> on Your land<MH776>, which<MH834> You have given<MH5414> to Your people<MH5971a> as an inheritance<MH5159>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>“If<MH3588> there is a famine<MH7458> in the land<MH776>, if<MH3588> there is a plague<MH1698>, if<MH3588> there is blight<MH7711b> or mildew<MH3420>, if<MH3588> there is locust<MH697> or grasshopper<MH2625>, if<MH3588> their enemies<MH340> besiege<MH6887a> them in the land<MH776> of their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>cities<MH8179>, whatever<MH3605> plague<MH5061> or whatever<MH3605> sickness<MH4245a> <i>there is,</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>whatever<MH3605, 834> prayer<MH8605> or plea<MH8467> is made<MH1961> by anyone<MH3605, 120> or by all<MH3605> Your people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>each<MH376> knowing<MH3045> his own affliction<MH5061> and his own pain<MH4341>, and spreading<MH6566> his hands<MH3709> toward<MH413> this<MH2088> house<MH1004>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>then hear<MH8085> from heaven<MH8064>, Your dwelling<MH3427> place<MH4349>, and forgive<MH5545>, and render<MH5414> to each<MH376> according to all<MH3605> his ways<MH1870>, whose<MH834> heart<MH3824> You know<MH3045>—for You alone<MH905> know<MH3045> the hearts<MH3824> of the sons<MH1121> of mankind<MH120>— <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>so<MH4616> that<MH4616> they may <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>fear<MH3372a> You, to walk<MH1980> in Your ways<MH1870> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>as<MH3605, 3117> long<MH3605, 3117> as they live<MH2416a> in the land<MH127> which<MH834> You have given<MH5414> to our fathers<MH1>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>“Also<MH1571> concerning<MH413> the foreigner<MH5237> who<MH834> is not from Your people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>, when he comes<MH935> from a far<MH7350> country<MH776> on account<MH4616> of Your great<MH1419> name<MH8034> and Your mighty<MH2389> hand<MH3027> and Your outstretched<MH5186> arm<MH2220>, when they come<MH935> and pray<MH6419> toward<MH413> this<MH2088> house<MH1004>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>then hear<MH8085> from heaven<MH8064>, from Your dwelling<MH3427> place<MH4349>, and do<MH6213a> according to all<MH3605> for which<MH834> the foreigner<MH5237> calls<MH7121> to You, so<MH4616> that<MH4616> all<MH3605> the peoples<MH5971a> of the earth<MH776> may know<MH3045> Your name<MH8034>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>fear<MH3372a> You as <i>do</i> Your people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>, and that they may know<MH3045> that <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>this<MH2088> house<MH1004> which<MH834> I have built<MH1129> is called<MH7121> by Your name<MH8034>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>“When<MH3588> Your people<MH5971a> go<MH3318> out<MH3318> to battle<MH4421> against<MH5921> their enemies<MH340>, by whatever<MH834> way<MH1870> You send<MH7971> them, and they pray<MH6419> to You toward<MH1870> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> which<MH834> You have chosen<MH977> and the house<MH1004> which<MH834> I have built<MH1129> for Your name<MH8034>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>then hear<MH8085> from heaven<MH8064> their prayer<MH8605> and their pleading<MH8467>, and maintain<MH6213a> their cause<MH4941>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>“When<MH3588> they sin<MH2398> against You (for there<MH369> is<MH369> no<MH369> one<MH120> who<MH834> does not sin<MH2398>), and You are angry<MH599> with them and turn<MH5414> them over<MH5414> to an enemy<MH340>, so that <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>they take<MH7617> them away<MH7617> captive<MH7617> to a land<MH776> far<MH7350> off or<MH176> near<MH7138>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>if they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>take<MH7725> it to heart<MH3824> in the land<MH776> where<MH834, 8033> they are taken<MH7617> captive<MH7617>, and repent<MH7725> and plead<MH2603a> to You in the land<MH776> of their captivity<MH7628b>, saying<MH559>, ‘We have sinned<MH2398>, we have done<MH5753b> wrong<MH5753b> and have acted<MH7561> wickedly<MH7561>’; <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span><i>if</i> they return<MH7725> to You with all<MH3605> their heart<MH3820> and with all<MH3605> their soul<MH5315> in the land<MH776> of their captivity<MH7628b>, where<MH834> they have been taken<MH7617> captive<MH7617>, and pray<MH6419> toward<MH1870> their land<MH776> which<MH834> You have given<MH5414> to their fathers<MH1> and the city<MH5892b> which<MH834> You have chosen<MH977>, and toward the house<MH1004> which<MH834> I have built<MH1129> for Your name<MH8034>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>then hear<MH8085> from heaven<MH8064>, from Your dwelling<MH3427> place<MH4349>, their prayer<MH8605> and pleadings<MH8467>, and maintain<MH6213a> their cause<MH4941>, and forgive<MH5545> Your people<MH5971a> who<MH834> have sinned<MH2398> against You. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>“Now<MH6258>, my God<MH430>, please<MH4994>, let Your eyes<MH5869> be open<MH6605a> and Your ears<MH241> attentive<MH7183b> to the prayer<MH8605> <i>offered</i> in this<MH2088> place<MH4725>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>“Now<MH6258> then arise<MH6965>, LORD<MH3068> God<MH430>, to Your resting<MH5117> place<MH5117>, You and the ark<MH727> of Your might<MH5797>; let Your priests<MH3548>, LORD<MH3068> God<MH430>, be clothed<MH3847> with salvation<MH8668>, and let Your godly<MH2623> ones<MH2623> rejoice<MH8055> in what<MH2896b> is<MH2896b> good<MH2896b>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_chronicles/6-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>“LORD<MH3068> God<MH430>, do not turn<MH7725> away<MH7725> the face<MH6440> of Your anointed<MH4899>;
