We share our experiences as parents because we care about your experiences. </p> </blockquote> </div> <div class="quote"> <blockquote class="textual"> <p>Would you like to know how other parents balance work and family within the research career?</p> </blockquote> </div> </div> <p>Parents working in academia face specific challenges and difficulties that might be hard to cope with. However, there is no real channel for transferring knowledge about having an academic career while also being a parent. We are presenting here a <strong>network for academic parents in population studies, to help current and future parents to share knowledge and experiences, give and receive guidance and help one another in managing family and the academic career.</strong></p> <p>Within an established network, it is easier to share problems, success stories and support one another. It also allows researchers to make new contacts and have more network opportunities with colleagues who understand their situation. The EAPS Parent Network is also scientifically relevant by helping parents share <strong>their experience on how to balance work and family and be academically productive while also parenting</strong>. We also envision that the network will create and strengthen future collaborations among its members.</p> <p>Please contact the network for info and if you are interested to join: <a href="mailto:eaps.parentnetwork@gmail.com">eaps.parentnetwork@gmail.com</a></p> <div class="spacer"></div> <h2>Activities and Events</h2> <p><strong><br></strong></p> <p><strong>Children鈥檚 & Parent's Room at EPC 2024</strong><br></p> <p>The EPC 2024 organizers and the EAPS Parent Network are happy to announce that a Children鈥檚 & Parent's Room will be available at EPC 2024 (Room G.01 in 50 George Square). The room will be equipped with some tables and chairs, a few books, small toys, pencils and paper. Baby changing facilities will be available outside the room in one of the restrooms nearby. Please kindly note that children using the room must be accompanied by an adult at all times. <strong><br></strong></p> <p><strong>Inaugural event </strong></p> <p>The inaugural event of the Network took place 11 October 2023. At this event the Network was introduced and findings from our survey were shared. <br></p> <p>Agnese Vitali presented the project Parenting Academia.
