President Zhao Hongwei met the delegation in Room B301, Xingjian Building. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Bian Zhengfu and attended by staff from the International Office, Graduate School, School of Mines, School of Safety Engineering, School of Resources and Geosciences, and School of Chemical Engineering & Technology.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 10px; line-height: 1.75em; text-indent: 0em; margin-top: 10px;"><span style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: georgia; font-size: 18px; text-align: justify; text-wrap-mode: wrap; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">President Zhao Hongwei warmly welcomed the delegation of Montanuniversität Leoben and gave an overview of CUMT’s history, accomplishments, and development plans. He observed that both Montanuniversität Leoben and CUMT share similar historical paths and have significantly contributed to the mining industries and the education of mining experts in Austria and China. Since the commencement of their academic exchanges and cooperation in 1993, the two universities have established meaningful and fruitful partnerships across various domains, including leadership visits, educational programs, research projects, international conferences, and cultural exchanges. These collaborations have also been instrumental in nurturing the friendship between the cities of Xuzhou and Leoben. President Zhao Hongwei expected that the two universities will enhance pragmatic cooperation in key areas and attain significant outcomes.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify; margin-bottom: 10px; line-height: 1.75em; text-indent: 0em; margin-top: 10px;"><span style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: georgia; font-size: 18px; text-align: justify; text-wrap-mode: wrap; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Rector Peter Moser expressed his gratitude to CUMT for the meticulous arrangements and warm hospitality. He said that after 184 years of development, Montanuniversität Leoben has transformed from a specialized institution focusing on mining and metallurgy into a technical university with a focus on education and research in the fields of resources, processing, materials, and energy. Thanks to the Bologna Process, the University has launched joint educational initiatives with universities across Europe, including France, Poland, Germany, and Spain, and has also collaborated with Chinese universities in advanced talent development programs.
