Goode National Transportation Conference</a></h4> <p>The Miller Center of Public Affairs held the inaugural <a href="policy/transportation">David R. Goode National Transportation Policy Conference</a>, &quot;Beyond Stimulus: Toward a New Transportation Agenda for America&quot; in September, 2009.</p> <p>This policy conference of recognized experts, co-chaired by former Secretaries of Transportation <strong>Norman Y. Mineta</strong> and <strong>Samuel K. Skinner</strong>, was convened in order to facilitate, at a critical time, original and necessary thinking about the financing, governance, and management of America's transportation infrastructure. </p> <p>A second conference will take place in the fall of 2011. </p> <h4><a href="policy/chinaroundtable">China Roundtable</a></h4> <p>Admiral Joseph W. Prueher, the Miller Center's James R. Schlesinger Distinguished Professor and former U.S. Ambassador to China, organized a three day roundtable amonth leaders from the academy, government, military, and business to discuss ways to improve and strengthen the U.S.-China relationship. Those recommendations can be found in the report entitled, <a href="policy/chinaroundtable">&quot;A Way Ahead With China: Steering the Right Course with the Middle Kingdom.&quot;</a> </p> </div> <h2>National Commissions </h2> <div style="margin-left:25px;"> <h4><a href="policy/commissions/warpowers">National War Powers Commission</a></h4> <p> In 2007, the Center empanelled the <a href="policy/commissions/warpowers/">National War Powers Commission</a>, co-chaired by <strong>James A.
