In the context of Job, it challenges the sincerity of one's faith, especially when faced with suffering. The term "Almighty" (Shaddai) emphasizes God's power and sovereignty, a recurring theme in the Book of Job. Delighting in God is a concept echoed in <a href="/psalms/37-4.htm">Psalm 37:4</a>, which encourages believers to find their joy in the Lord, promising that He will fulfill the desires of their hearts. This delight is not merely emotional but involves a deep, abiding trust and satisfaction in God's character and will.<p><b>Will he call upon God at all times?</b><br>This phrase examines the consistency and perseverance of one's prayer life. Calling upon God "at all times" suggests a relationship that is not dependent on circumstances. In <a href="/1_thessalonians/5-17.htm">1 Thessalonians 5:17</a>, believers are instructed to "pray without ceasing," indicating a continual reliance on God. The historical context of Job, set in a patriarchal era, highlights the importance of regular communication with God, as seen in the lives of the patriarchs like Abraham and Isaac, who built altars and called upon the name of the Lord. This phrase challenges believers to maintain their devotion and dependence on God, regardless of life's trials, reflecting a steadfast faith that mirrors the endurance of Christ, who often withdrew to pray during His earthly ministry.<div class="vheading2">Persons / Places / Events</div>1. <b><a href="/topical/j/job.htm">Job</a></b><br>A man described as blameless and upright, who feared God and shunned evil. Not only does it alienate God from us, but it nile,ares us from God. The hypocrite cannot "delight in the Almighty." He must shriek from him, tear him, dislike to dwell on the thought of his presence and realize it. His natural inclination must be to withdraw his thoughts from God, and give himself up to the worldliness which has been his attraction to assume the hypocrite's part. <span class="cmt_word">Will he always call upon God?</span> Can be even be depended on not to renounce the service of God altogether? The mutual alienation above spoken of must tend to check communion, to disincline to prayer and calling upon God, to erect a barrier between the hypocrite and the Almighty, which, though for a while it may be insufficient to withstand the force of use and wont, will yet, in the long run, be sure to tell, and will either put an end to prayer altogether, or reduce it to a formality. <span class="p"><br /><br /></span><span class="versiontext"><a href="/commentaries/job/27-10.htm">Parallel Commentaries ...</a></span><span class="p"><br /><br /><br /></span><a name="lexicon" id="lexicon"></a><div class="vheading">Hebrew</div><span class="word">Will he delight</span><br /><span class="heb">יִתְעַנָּ֑ג</span> <span class="translit">(yiṯ·‘an·nāḡ)</span><br /><span class="parse">Verb - Hitpael - Imperfect - third person masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_6026.htm">Strong's 6026: </a> </span><span class="str2">To be soft, pliable, effeminate, luxurious</span><br /><br /><span class="word">in</span><br /><span class="heb">עַל־</span> <span class="translit">(‘al-)</span><br /><span class="parse">Preposition<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_5921.htm">Strong's 5921: </a> </span><span class="str2">Above, over, upon, against</span><br /><br /><span class="word">the Almighty?</span><br /><span class="heb">שַׁדַּ֥י</span> <span class="translit">(šad·day)</span><br /><span class="parse">Noun - proper - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_7706.htm">Strong's 7706: </a> </span><span class="str2">The Almighty</span><br /><br /><span class="word">Will he call upon</span><br /><span class="heb">יִקְרָ֖א</span> <span class="translit">(yiq·rā)</span><br /><span class="parse">Verb - Qal - Imperfect - third person masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_7121.htm">Strong's 7121: </a> </span><span class="str2">To call, proclaim, read</span><br /><br /><span class="word">God</span><br /><span class="heb">אֱל֣וֹהַּ</span> <span class="translit">(’ĕ·lō·w·ah)</span><br /><span class="parse">Noun - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_433.htm">Strong's 433: </a> </span><span class="str2">God -- a deity, the Deity</span><br /><br /><span class="word">at all</span><br /><span class="heb">בְּכָל־</span> <span class="translit">(bə·ḵāl)</span><br /><span class="parse">Preposition | Noun - masculine singular construct<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_3605.htm">Strong's 3605: </a> </span><span class="str2">The whole, all, any, every</span><br /><br /><span class="word">times?</span><br /><span class="heb">עֵֽת׃</span> <span class="translit">(‘êṯ)</span><br /><span class="parse">Noun - common singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_6256.htm">Strong's 6256: </a> </span><span class="str2">Time, now, when</span><br /><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><div class="vheading">Links</div><a href="/niv/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 NIV</a><br /><a href="/nlt/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 NLT</a><br /><a href="/esv/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 ESV</a><br /><a href="/nasb/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 NASB</a><br /><a href="/kjv/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 KJV</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="//bibleapps.com/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 BibleApps.com</a><br /><a href="//bibliaparalela.com/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 Biblia Paralela</a><br /><a href="//holybible.com.cn/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 Chinese Bible</a><br /><a href="//saintebible.com/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 French Bible</a><br /><a href="/catholic/job/27-10.htm">Job 27:10 Catholic Bible</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="/job/27-10.htm">OT Poetry: Job 27:10 Will he delight himself in the Almighty (Jb) </a></div></div></td></tr></table></div><div id="left"><a href="/job/27-9.htm" onmouseover='lft.src="/leftgif.png"' onmouseout='lft.src="/left.png"' title="Job 27:9"><img src="/left.png" name="lft" border="0" alt="Job 27:9" /></a></div><div id="right"><a href="/job/27-11.htm" onmouseover='rght.src="/rightgif.png"' onmouseout='rght.src="/right.png"' title="Job 27:11"><img src="/right.png" name="rght" border="0" alt="Job 27:11" /></a></div><div id="botleft"><a href="#" onmouseover='botleft.src="/botleftgif.png"' onmouseout='botleft.src="/botleft.png"' title="Top of Page"><img src="/botleft.png" name="botleft" border="0" alt="Top of Page" /></a></div><div id="botright"><a href="#" onmouseover='botright.src="/botrightgif.png"' onmouseout='botright.src="/botright.png"' title="Top of Page"><img src="/botright.png" name="botright" border="0" alt="Top of Page" /></a></div><div id="bot"><iframe width="100%" height="1500" scrolling="no" src="/botmenubhnew2.htm" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></td></tr></table></div></body></html>
