<t><p class="indent1">And where<MH335> is a place<MH4725> that <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>I may rest<MH4496>? <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>&#8220;For My hand<MH3027> made<MH6213a> all<MH3605> these<MH428> things<MH428>, <t><p class="indent1">So all<MH3605> these<MH428> things<MH428> came<MH1961> into being<MH1961>,&#8221; declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>. <t><p class="indent1">&#8220;But I will look<MH5027> to this<MH2088> one<MH2088>, <t><p class="indent1">At one<MH6041> who is humble<MH6041> and contrite<MH5223> in spirit<MH7307>, and who<MH2730a> trembles<MH2730a> at My word<MH1697>. <p class="hdg">Hypocrisy Rebuked</p><poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>&#8220;<i>But</i> the one who slaughters<MH7819> an ox<MH7794> is <i>like</i> one who kills<MH5221> a person<MH376>; <t><p class="indent1">The one who sacrifices<MH2076> a lamb<MH7716> is <i>like</i> one who breaks<MH6202> a dog&#8217;s<MH3611> neck<MH6202>; <t><p class="indent1">One who offers<MH5927> a grain offering<MH4503> <i>is like one who offers</i> pig&#8217;s<MH2386> blood<MH1818>; <t><p class="indent1">One who <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>burns<MH2142> incense<MH3828> is <i>like</i> one who blesses<MH1288> an idol<MH205>. <t><p class="indent1">As they have chosen<MH977> their <i>own</i> ways<MH1870>, <t><p class="indent1">And their souls<MH5315> delight<MH2654a> in their abominations<MH8251>, <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>So<MH1571> I will choose<MH977> their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>punishments<MH8586> <t><p class="indent1">And bring<MH935> on them what<MH4034> they dread<MH4034>. <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH3282> I called<MH7121>, but no<MH369> one<MH369> answered<MH6030a>; <t><p class="indent1">I spoke<MH1696>, but they did not listen<MH8085>. <t><p class="indent1">Instead, they did<MH6213a> evil<MH7451a> in My sight<MH5869> <t><p class="indent1">And chose<MH977> that in which<MH834> I did not delight<MH2654a>.&#8221; <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Hear<MH8085> the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068>, you who<MH2730a> tremble<MH2730a> at His word<MH1697>: <p class="indent1stline">&#8220;Your brothers<MH251> who hate<MH8130> you, who exclude<MH5077> you on account<MH4616> of My name<MH8034>, <t><p class="indent1">Have said<MH559>, &#8216;Let the LORD<MH3068> be glorified<MH3513>, so that we may see<MH7200> your joy<MH8057>.&#8217; <t><p class="indent1">But they will be put<MH954> to<MH954> shame<MH954>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>&#8220;A sound<MH6963> of uproar<MH7588> from the city<MH5892b>, a voice<MH6963> from the temple<MH1964>, <t><p class="indent1">The voice<MH6963> of the LORD<MH3068> who is dealing<MH7999a> retribution<MH1576> to His enemies<MH340>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>&#8220;Before<MH2962> she was<MH2342a> in<MH2342a> labor<MH2342a>, she delivered<MH3205>; <t><p class="indent1">Before<MH2962> her pain<MH2256b> came<MH935>, she gave<MH4422> birth<MH4422> to a boy<MH2145>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>&#8220;Who<MH4310> has heard<MH8085> such<MH2088> a thing<MH2088>? Who<MH4310> has seen<MH7200> such<MH428> things? <t><p class="indent1">Can a land<MH776> be <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>born<MH2342a> in one<MH259> day<MH3117>? <t><p class="indent1">Can a nation<MH1471> be given<MH3205> birth<MH3205> all<MH6471> at<MH6471> once<MH259, 6471>? <t><p class="indent1">As<MH3588> soon<MH3588> as<MH3588> Zion<MH6726> was<MH2342a> in<MH2342a> labor<MH2342a>, she also<MH1571> delivered<MH3205> her sons<MH1121>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>&#8220;Shall I bring<MH7665> to<MH7665> the<MH7665> point<MH7665> of<MH7665> birth<MH7665> but not give<MH3205> delivery<MH3205>?&#8221; says<MH559> the LORD<MH3068>. <t><p class="indent1">&#8220;Or<MH518> shall I who gives<MH3205> delivery<MH3205> shut<MH6113> <i>the womb?</i>&#8221; says<MH559> your God<MH430>. <p class="hdg">Joy in Jerusalem&#8217;s Future</p><poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>&#8220;Be<MH8055> joyful<MH8055> with Jerusalem<MH3389> and rejoice<MH1523> for her, all<MH3605> you who love<MH157> her; <t><p class="indent1">Be exceedingly<MH4885> glad<MH7797> with her, all<MH3605> you who mourn<MH56> over<MH5921> her, <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>So<MH4616> that<MH4616> you may nurse<MH3243> and be<MH7646> satisfied<MH7646> with her comforting<MH8575> breasts<MH7699b>, <t><p class="indent1">So<MH4616> that<MH4616> you may drink<MH4711> fully<MH4711> and be delighted<MH6026> with her bountiful<MH3519b> breasts<MH2123b>.&#8221; <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>For this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> says<MH559>: &#8220;Behold<MH2009>, I extend<MH5186> peace<MH7965> to her like a river<MH5104>, <t><p class="indent1">And the glory<MH3519b> of the nations<MH1471> like an overflowing<MH7857> stream<MH5158a>; <t><p class="indent1">And you will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>be nursed<MH3243>, you will be carried<MH5375> on the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>hip<MH6654> and rocked<MH8173b> back<MH8173b> and<MH8173b> forth<MH8173b> on the knees<MH1290>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>&#8220;As one<MH376> whom<MH834> his mother<MH517> comforts<MH5162>, so<MH3651> I will comfort<MH5162> you; <t><p class="indent1">And you will be comforted<MH5162> in Jerusalem<MH3389>.&#8221; <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Then you will see<MH7200> <i>this,</i> and your heart<MH3820> will be glad<MH7797>, <t><p class="indent1">And your bones<MH6106> will flourish<MH6524a> like the new<MH1877> grass<MH1877>; <t><p class="indent1">And the hand<MH3027> of the LORD<MH3068> will be made<MH3045> known<MH3045> to His servants<MH5650>, <t><p class="indent1">But He will be<MH2194> indignant<MH2194> toward<MH854> His enemies<MH340>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For behold<MH2009>, the LORD<MH3068> will come<MH935> in fire<MH784>, <t><p class="indent1">And His chariots<MH4818> like the whirlwind<MH5492a>, <t><p class="indent1">To render<MH7725> His anger<MH639> with fury<MH2534>, <t><p class="indent1">And His rebuke<MH1606> with flames<MH3851> of fire<MH784>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>For the LORD<MH3068> will execute<MH8199> judgment<MH8199> by fire<MH784> <t><p class="indent1">And by His sword<MH2719> on <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>humanity<MH1320>, <t><p class="indent1">And those put<MH2491a> to<MH2491a> death<MH2491a> by the LORD<MH3068> will be<MH7231> many<MH7231>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>&#8220;Those who sanctify<MH6942> and purify<MH2891> themselves <i>to go</i> to the gardens<MH1593>, <t><p class="indent1"><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>Following<MH310> one<MH259> in the center<MH8432>, <t><p class="indent1">Who eat<MH398> pig&#8217;s<MH2386> flesh<MH1320>, detestable<MH8263> things<MH8263>, and mice<MH5909>, <t><p class="indent1">Will come<MH5486> to<MH5486> an<MH5486> end<MH5486> altogether<MH3164a>,&#8221; declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>&#8220;For I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>know their works<MH4639> and their thoughts<MH4284>; <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>the time is coming<MH935> to gather<MH6908> all<MH3605> the nations<MH1471> and tongues<MH3956>. And they shall come<MH935> and see<MH7200> My glory<MH3519b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/66-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And I will put<MH7760> a sign<MH226> among them and send<MH7971> survivors<MH6412b> from them to the nations<MH1471>: Tarshish<MH8659>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>Put<MH6316>, Lud<MH3865>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>Meshech<MH4902>, Tubal<MH8422>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>Javan<MH3120>, to the distant<MH7350> coastlands<MH339> that have neither<MH3808> heard<MH8085> of My fame<MH8088> nor<MH3808> seen<MH7200> My glory<MH3519b>.
