MS <b>Word format</b> is preferred (.docx, .doc, .rtf). The journal can also accept submissions in PDF format if necessary. Article manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor, Prof. Ronald Polansky, by email to <a href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection#2656494a4748554d5f6642535708434253"><b><span class="__cf_email__" data-cfemail="cabaa5a6aba4b9a1b38aaebfbbe4afaebf">[email protected]</span></b></a>.</p> Submitted article manuscripts are subject to <b>anonymous review</b>. Information identifying the author should only appear on a separate page. An abstract of not more than seventy words should accompany the submission of each article. <p>Most book reviews in <i>Ancient Philosophy</i> are invited. Copyright to the content of each issue is held by <b>Mathesis Publications</b>.</p> <h1>Publication Agreement</h1> <p>As a condition of publication in <i>Ancient Philosophy</i>, authors must complete a publication agreement that gives the journal permission to publish and preserve the author's work.</p> <p>There are two options:</p> <ul> <li class="bluebullet"><a href="https://www.pdcnet.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Ancient-Philosophy_Standard-Agreement.pdf"><b>Standard Publication Agreement</b> <img class="alignnone" alt="" src="/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/pdf_icon.gif" /></a></ul> <p>The <b>Standard publication agreement</b> ensures publication in the journal in all formats, and confirms the author's right to reuse the manuscript in any other publication the author may write or edit. The journal's <a href="/ancientphil/Rights-and-Permissions">Open Access Archiving Policy</a> applies to articles published with this agreement. <b>No payment is required</b> for submission or publication.</p> <ul> <li class="bluebullet"><a href="https://www.pdcnet.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Ancient-Philosophy_Open-Access-agreement.pdf"><b>Open Access Publication Agreement</b> <img class="alignnone" alt="" src="/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/pdf_icon.gif" /></a></ul> <p>The <b>Open Access publication agreement</b> ensures publication with a聽<a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/">Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial License聽(CC BY-NC)</a> that gives everyone the unlimited right to copy, download or use the published version of the text for non-commercial purposes. This option is sustained by an <b>open access publishing fee</b>.</p> <hr size=1> <h1>Publications Ethics Statement</h1> <p><i>Ancient Philosophy</i> is committed to the integrity of the publication process. Conformity to professional standards is expected of Authors, Editors, Reviewers, and the Publisher.</p> <p><b>Authors</b> should present an objective discussion of the significance of research work and sufficient argumentation to support their conclusions. Authors should ensure that their work is their own, and the work of others appropriately acknowledged. Plagiarism is unacceptable. Manuscripts should only be submitted to a single journal at a time. Essentially the same research, already published, should not again be submitted for publication. Co-authors should approve the final version of the paper for submission and for publication.</p> <p><b>Editors</b> should evaluate manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit. An editor must not appropriate unpublished material for the editor鈥檚 own research. Editors should take reasonable measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper.</p> <p><b>Reviewers</b> must treat received manuscripts as confidential documents. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviews should be conducted objectively, and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments, so that authors can use them for improving the paper. A selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research must decline to do the review. Reviewers should avoid conflicts of interest regarding the refereed material. <p>The <b>Publisher</b> will respond to alleged or proven cases of research misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism in close collaboration with the editors. The publisher will ensure that appropriate measures are taken to clarify the situation and to amend the article in question if necessary.
