In the design process, the filter length, pass band and stop band frequencies, feasible pass band and stop band ripple sizes are specified. FIR filter design is a multi-modal optimization problem. An iterative method is introduced to find the optimal solution of FIR filter design problem. Evolutionary algorithms like real code genetic algorithm (RGA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) have been used in this work for the design of linear phase high pass FIR filter. IPSO is an improved PSO that proposes a new definition for the velocity vector and swarm updating and hence the solution quality is improved. A comparison of simulation results reveals the optimization efficacy of the algorithm over the prevailing optimization techniques for the solution of the multimodal, nondifferentiable, highly non-linear, and constrained FIR filter design problems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=FIR%20Filter" title="FIR Filter">FIR Filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=IPSO" title=" IPSO"> IPSO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=GA" title=" GA"> GA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=PSO" title=" PSO"> PSO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Parks%20and%20McClellan%0AAlgorithm" title=" Parks and McClellan Algorithm"> Parks and McClellan Algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Evolutionary%20Optimization" title=" Evolutionary Optimization"> Evolutionary Optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=High%20Pass%20Filter" title=" High Pass Filter"> High Pass Filter</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/linear-phase-high-pass-fir-filter-design-using-improved-particle-swarm-optimization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/8397.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">3099</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">751</span> Stability Issues on an Implemented All-Pass Filter Circuitry</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=%C3%81kos%20Pint%C3%A9r">脕kos Pint茅r</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Istv%C3%A1n%20D%C3%A9nes"> Istv谩n D茅nes</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The so-called all-pass filter circuits are commonly used in the field of signal processing, control and measurement. Being connected to capacitive loads, these circuits tend to loose their stability; therefore the elaborate analysis of their dynamic behavior is necessary. The compensation methods intending to increase the stability of such circuits are discussed in this paper, including the socalled lead-lag compensation technique being treated in detail. For the dynamic modeling, a two-port network model of the all-pass filter is being derived. The results of the model analysis show, that effective lead-lag compensation can be achieved, alone by the optimization of the circuit parameters; therefore the application of additional electric components are not needed to fulfill the stability requirement. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=all-pass%20filter" title="all-pass filter">all-pass filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=frequency%20compensation" title=" frequency compensation"> frequency compensation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=stability" title=" stability"> stability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=linear%20modeling" title=" linear modeling"> linear modeling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/stability-issues-on-an-implemented-all-pass-filter-circuitry" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/3582.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2516</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">750</span> Two Active Elements Based All-Pass Section Suited for Current-Mode Cascading</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=J.%20Mohan">J. In the design process, the filter length, pass band and stop band frequencies, feasible pass band and stop band ripple sizes are specified. FIR filter design is a multi-modal optimization problem. The conventional gradient based optimization techniques are not efficient for digital filter design. Given the filter specifications to be realized, the PSO-CFIWA algorithm generates a set of optimal filter coefficients and tries to meet the ideal frequency response characteristic. In this paper, for the given problem, the designs of the optimal FIR high pass filters of different orders have been performed. The simulation results have been compared to those obtained by the well accepted algorithms such as Parks and McClellan algorithm (PM), genetic algorithm (GA). The results justify that the proposed optimal filter design approach using PSOCFIWA outperforms PM and GA, not only in the accuracy of the designed filter but also in the convergence speed and solution quality. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=FIR%20Filter%3B%20PSO-CFIWA%3B%20PSO%3B%20Parks%20and%20McClellanAlgorithm" title="FIR Filter; PSO-CFIWA; PSO; Parks and McClellanAlgorithm">FIR Filter; PSO-CFIWA; PSO; Parks and McClellanAlgorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Evolutionary%20Optimization%20Technique%3B%20MagnitudeResponse%3B%20Convergence%3B%20High%20Pass%20Filter" title=" Evolutionary Optimization Technique; MagnitudeResponse; Convergence; High Pass Filter"> Evolutionary Optimization Technique; MagnitudeResponse; Convergence; High Pass Filter</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/swarm-intelligence-based-optimal-linear-phase-fir-high-pass-filter-design-using-particle-swarm-optimization-with-constriction-factor-and-inertia-weight-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15281.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1554</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">748</span> Design of Two-Channel Quadrature Mirror Filter Banks Using Digital All-Pass Filters</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Ju-Hong%20Lee">Ju-Hong Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Yi-Lin%20Shieh"> Yi-Lin Shieh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p class="Abstract" style="text-indent:10.2pt">The paper deals with the minimax design of two-channel linear-phase (LP) quadrature mirror filter (QMF) banks using infinite impulse response (IIR) digital all-pass filters (DAFs). Through a frequency sampling and iterative approximation method, the design problem can be solved by utilizing a weighted least squares approach. The circuits only consist of three Current differencing transconductance amplifiers (CDTA) and two grounded capacitors, which are resistorless, and they are suitable for monolithic integration. The universal filter uses minimum CDTAs and passive elements to realize SIMO type low-pass (LP), high-pass (HP), band-pass (BP) band-stop (BS) and all-pass (AP) filter functions simultaneously without any component matching conditions. The angular frequency (ω0) and the quality factor (Q) of the proposed filter can be electronically controlled and tuned orthogonal. By some modifications of the filter, a new current-mode four-phase quadrature oscillator (QO) can be obtained easily. The condition of oscillation (CO) and frequency of oscillation (FO) of the QO can be controlled electronically and independently through the bias current of the CDTAs, and it is suitable for variable frequency oscillator. Moreover, all the passive and active sensitivities of the circuits are low. Impulse response coefficient of the designed FIR filter has been represented as sums or differences of powers of two. Performance of the proposed filter has been evaluated in terms of its frequency response and associated hardware cost. Supremacy of our approach has been substantiated by comparing our result with many of the existing multiplier-less filter design algorithms of recent interest. It has also been demonstrated that DE-optimized filter outperforms Genetic Algorithm (GA) based design by a large margin. Hardware efficiency of our algorithm has further been validated by implementing those filters on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) chip.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Convergence%20speed" title="Convergence speed">Convergence speed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Differential%20Evolution%20%28DE%29" title=" Differential Evolution (DE)"> Differential Evolution (DE)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=error%20histogram" title=" error histogram"> error histogram</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=finite%20impulse%20response%20%28FIR%29%20filter" title=" finite impulse response (FIR) filter"> finite impulse response (FIR) filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=total%20power%20of%20two%20%28TPT%29" title=" total power of two (TPT)"> total power of two (TPT)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=zero-valued%20filter%20coefficient%20%28ZFC%29." title=" zero-valued filter coefficient (ZFC)."> zero-valued filter coefficient (ZFC).</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/supremacy-of-differential-evolution-algorithm-in-designing-multiplier-less-low-pass-fir-filter" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/9997723.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2155</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">744</span> Resistor-less Current-mode Universal Biquad Filter Using CCTAs and Grounded Capacitors</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=T.%20Thosdeekoraphat">T. Both CRLH and SRR are unit cells used in metamaterial design. The primary aim of designing filters with such structures is to realize size reduction and also to realize novel filter performance. The CRLH based filter has been designed in microstrip transmission line, while the SRR based filter is designed with SRR loading in waveguide. The CRLH based filter designed at 2.45 GHz provides an insertion loss of 1.6 dB with harmonic suppression up to 10 GHz with 67 % size reduction when compared with a conventional edge-coupled band-pass filter designed around the same frequency. One dimensional (1-D) SRR matrix loaded in a waveguide shows the possibility of realizing a stop-band with sharp skirts in the pass-band while a stop-band in the pass-band of normal rectangular waveguide with tailoring of the dimensions of SRR unit cells. Simulation results affirm that the proposed algorithm CRPSO, outperforms over its counterparts not only in terms of quality output i.e. sharpness at cut-off, pass band ripple, stop band ripple, and stop band attenuation but also in convergence speed with assured stability.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=IIR%20Filter" title="IIR Filter">IIR Filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=RGA" title=" RGA"> RGA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=PSO" title=" PSO"> PSO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=CRPSO" title=" CRPSO"> CRPSO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Evolutionary%20Optimization%20Techniques" title=" Evolutionary Optimization Techniques"> Evolutionary Optimization Techniques</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Low%20Pass%20%28LP%29%20Filter" title=" Low Pass (LP) Filter"> Low Pass (LP) Filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Magnitude%0D%0AResponse" title=" Magnitude Response"> Magnitude Response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Pole-Zero%20Plot" title=" Pole-Zero Plot"> Pole-Zero Plot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Stability." title=" Stability."> Stability.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/iir-filter-design-with-craziness-based-particle-swarm-optimization-technique" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/504.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2576</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">741</span> Simulation of Voltage Controlled Tunable All Pass Filter Using LM13700 OTA</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Bhaba%20Priyo%20Das">Bhaba Priyo Das</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Neville%20Watson"> Neville Watson</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Yonghe%20Liu"> Yonghe Liu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p>In recent years Operational Transconductance Amplifier based high frequency integrated circuits, filters and systems have been widely investigated. It, however, performs poorly in the presence of additive long-tailed (impulse) noise and it does not preserve the edge structures of the image signals. Median smoother discards outliers (impulses) effectively, but it fails to provide adequate smoothing for images corrupted with nonimpulse noise. In this paper, two nonlinear techniques for image filtering, namely, New Filter I and New Filter II are proposed based on a nonlinear high-pass filter algorithm. New Filter I is constructed using a midpoint filter, a highpass filter and a combiner. It suppresses uniform noise quite well. New Filter II is configured using an alpha trimmed midpoint filter, a median smoother of window size 3x3, the high pass filter and the combiner. It is robust against impulse noise and attenuates uniform noise satisfactorily. Both the filters are shown to exhibit good response at the image boundaries (edges). The proposed filters are evaluated for their performance on a test image and the results obtained are included. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Image%20filters" title="Image filters">Image filters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Midpoint%20filter" title=" Midpoint filter"> Midpoint filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Nonlinear%20filters" title=" Nonlinear filters"> Nonlinear filters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Nonlinear%20highpass%20filter" title=" Nonlinear highpass filter"> Nonlinear highpass filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Order-statistic%20filters" title=" Order-statistic filters"> Order-statistic filters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Rank-order%20filters." title=" Rank-order filters."> Rank-order filters.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/new-nonlinear-filtering-strategies-for-eliminating-short-and-long-tailed-noise-in-images-with-edge-preservation-properties" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/15445.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1450</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">739</span> An Improved QRS Complex Detection for Online Medical Diagnosis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=I.%20L.%20Ahmad">I. ECG signal is comprised of P, QRS, and T waves in each normal heart beat to describe the pattern of heart rhythms corresponds to a specific individual. Further medical diagnosis could be done to determine any heart related disease using ECG information. The emphasis on QRS Complex classification is further discussed to illustrate the importance of it. Pan-Tompkins Algorithm, a widely known technique has been adapted to realize the QRS Complex classification process. There are eight steps involved namely sampling, normalization, low pass filter, high pass filter (build a band pass filter), derivation, squaring, averaging and lastly is the QRS detection. We present a structure of 2-D recursive DC filters by using 2-D symmetric half-plane (SHP) recursive digital all-pass lattice filters (DALFs). The novelty of using 2-D SHP recursive DALFs to construct a 2-D recursive DC digital lattice filter is that the resulting 2-D SHP recursive DC digital lattice filter provides better performance than the existing 2-D SHP recursive DC digital filter. Moreover, the proposed structure possesses a favorable 2-D DC half-band (DC-HB) property that allows about half of the 2-D SHP recursive DALF’s coefficients to be zero. This leads to considerable savings in computational burden for implementation. To ensure the stability of a designed 2-D SHP recursive DC digital lattice filter, some necessary constraints on the phase of the 2-D SHP recursive DALF during the design process are presented. Design of a 2-D diamond-shape decimation/interpolation filter is presented for illustration and comparison.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=All-pass%20digital%20filter" title="All-pass digital filter">All-pass digital filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=doubly%20complementary" title=" doubly complementary"> doubly complementary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=lattice%20structure" title=" lattice structure"> lattice structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=symmetric%20half-plane%20digital%20filter" title=" symmetric half-plane digital filter"> symmetric half-plane digital filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=sampling%20rate%20conversion." title=" sampling rate conversion."> sampling rate conversion.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/two-dimensional-symmetric-half-plane-recursive-doubly-complementary-digital-lattice-filters" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10004594.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1269</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">737</span> A New Microstrip Diplexer Using Coupled Stepped Impedance Resonators</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=A.%20Chinig">A. These simple theories are arranged to form part of one answer to the question: “Can a semi-transparent Thermo-Photo-Voltaic (TPV) emitter have an optical extinction spectrum so much greater than its optical absorption spectrum that it becomes its own band-pass pre-filter, and if so, how well might it be expected to suppress light of undesired wavelengths?” In the report, hypothetical materials and operating temperatures will be used for comparative analyses only. Thermal emission properties of these hypothetical materials were created using two openly available FORTRAN programs. Results indicate that if using highly transparent materials it may be possible to create a thermal emitter that is its own band-pass pre-filter. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Christensen%20effect" title="Christensen effect">Christensen effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=DISORT" title=" DISORT"> DISORT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=index%20of%20refraction" title=" index of refraction"> index of refraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=scattering." title=" scattering."> scattering.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/modeling-thermo-photo-voltaic-selective-emitter-based-on-a-semi-transparent-emitter-with-integrated-narrow-band-pass-pre-filter" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10010694.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">602</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">735</span> A Low-Voltage Tunable Channel Selection Filter for WiMAX Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Kayvan%20Ahmadi">Kayvan Ahmadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Hossein%20Shamsi"> Hossein Shamsi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposes a low-voltage and low-power fully integrated digitally tuned continuous-time channel selection filter for WiMAX applications. The technique is relatively simple based on (i) inherent time constants of current mirrors, i.e. the internal capacitances and the transconductance of a diode-connected NMOS, (ii) a simple negative resistance RN formed by a resistor load RL of a current mirror. Neither external capacitances nor inductances are required. As a particular example, a 1.9-GHz, 0.45-mW, 2-V CMOS low-pass-filter-based all-current-mirror sinusoidal quadrature oscillator is demonstrated. The oscillation frequency (f0) is 1.9 GHz and is current-tunable over a range of 370 MHz or 21.6 %. The power consumption is at approximately 0.45 mW. The amplitude matching and the quadrature phase matching are better than 0.05 dB and 0.15掳, respectively. Total harmonic distortions (THD) are less than 0.3 %. At 2 MHz offset from the 1.9 GHz, the carrier to noise ratio (CNR) is 90.01 dBc/Hz whilst the figure of merit called a normalized carrier-to-noise ratio (CNRnorm) is 153.03 dBc/Hz. The ratio of the oscillation frequency (f0) to the unity-gain frequency (fT) of a transistor is 0.25. Comparisons to other approaches are also included. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Sinusoidal%20quadrature%20oscillator" title="Sinusoidal quadrature oscillator">Sinusoidal quadrature oscillator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=low-pass-filterbased" title=" low-pass-filterbased"> low-pass-filterbased</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=current-mirror%20bilinear%20transfer%20function" title="current-mirror bilinear transfer function">current-mirror bilinear transfer function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=all-current-mirror" title=" all-current-mirror"> all-current-mirror</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=negative%20resistance" title="negative resistance">negative resistance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=low%20power" title=" low power"> low power</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=high%20frequency" title=" high frequency"> high frequency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=low%20distortion." title=" low distortion."> low distortion.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/a-high-frequency-low-power-low-pass-filter-based-all-current-mirror-sinusoidal-quadrature-oscillator" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/163.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2070</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">731</span> Step Height Calibration Using Hamming Window Band-Pass Filter</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Dahi%20Ghareab%20Abdelsalam%20Ibrahim">Dahi Ghareab Abdelsalam Ibrahim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p>Axial and lateral measurements of a step depth standard are presented. The analysis and synthesis filters of the 2-D recursive QQMF bank are composed of 2-D recursive digital allpass lattice filters (DALFs) with symmetric half-plane (SHP) support regions. Using the 2-D doubly complementary half-band (DC-HB) property possessed by the analysis and synthesis filters, we facilitate the design of the proposed QQMF bank. For finding the coefficients of the 2-D recursive SHP DALFs, we present a structure of 2-D recursive digital allpass filters by using 2-D SHP recursive digital all-pass lattice filters (DALFs). The novelty of using 2-D SHP recursive DALFs to construct a 2-D recursive QQMF bank is that the resulting 2-D recursive QQMF bank provides better performance than the existing 2-D recursive QQMF banks. Simulation results are also presented for illustration and comparison.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=All-pass%20digital%20filter" title="All-pass digital filter">All-pass digital filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=doubly%20complementary" title=" doubly complementary"> doubly complementary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=lattice%20structure" title=" lattice structure"> lattice structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=symmetric%20half-plane%20digital%20filter" title=" symmetric half-plane digital filter"> symmetric half-plane digital filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=quincunx%20QMF%20bank." title=" quincunx QMF bank."> quincunx QMF bank.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/design-of-two-channel-quincunx-quadrature-mirror-filter-banks-using-digital-all-pass-lattice-filters" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10006958.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">886</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">729</span> Evaluation of Algorithms for Sequential Decision in Biosonar Target Classification</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Turgay%20Temel">Turgay Temel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=John%20Hallam"> John Hallam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p>A sequential decision problem, based on the task ofidentifying the species of trees given acoustic echo data collectedfrom them, is considered with well-known stochastic classifiers,including single and mixture Gaussian models. They are further used to low-pass and band-pass filters designs (LPF and BPF) and the obtained performances are examined. The LPF employing RH-DGS geometry presents the advantages of compact size, low-insertion loss and wide stopband compared to the other filters. It provides cutoff frequency of 2.5 GHz, largest rejection band width of 20 dB from 2.98 to 8.76 GHz, smallest transition region and smallest sharpness of the cutoff frequency. The BPF based on RH-DGS has the highest bandwidth (BW) of about 0.74 GHz and the lowest center frequency of 3.24 GHz, whereas the other BPFs have BWs less than 0.7 GHz. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Defected%20ground%20structure%20%28DGS%29" title="Defected ground structure (DGS)">Defected ground structure (DGS)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=triangular-head%28TH%29%20DGS" title=" triangular-head(TH) DGS"> triangular-head(TH) DGS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=rectangular-head%20%28RH%29%20DGS" title=" rectangular-head (RH) DGS"> rectangular-head (RH) DGS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=U-shape%20%28US%29%20DGS" title=" U-shape (US) DGS"> U-shape (US) DGS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=lowpassfilter%20%28LPF%29%20and%20band-pass%20filter%20%28BPF%29." title=" lowpassfilter (LPF) and band-pass filter (BPF)."> lowpassfilter (LPF) and band-pass filter (BPF).</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/comparative-study-of-three-dgs-unit-shapes-and-compact-microstrip-low-pass-and-band-pass-filters-designs" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/14959.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1673</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">727</span> Measurement Fractional Order Sallen-Key Filters</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Ahmed%20Soltan">Ahmed Soltan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Ahmed%20G.%20Radwan"> Ahmed G. The design problem can be facilitated by using the 2-D doubly complementary half-band (DC-HB) property possessed by the analysis and synthesis filters. For finding the coefficients of the 2-D recursive NSHP DAFs, we appropriately formulate the design problem to result in an optimization problem that can be solved by using a weighted least-squares (WLS) algorithm in the minimax (<em>L∞</em>) optimal sense. The main goal of the image enhancement task in 2D-echocardiography (2DE) is to solve two major anatomical structure problems; speckle noise and low quality. Therefore, speckle noise reduction is one of the important steps that used as a pre-processing to reduce the distortion effects in 2DE image segmentation. In this paper, we present the common filters that based on some form of low-pass spatial smoothing filters such as Mean, Gaussian, and Median. The Laplacian filter was used as a high-pass sharpening filter. A comparative analysis was presented to test the effectiveness of these filters after being applied to original 2DE images of 4-chamber and 2-chamber views.
