and in a trance<MG1611> I saw<MG3708> a vision<MG3705>, an <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>object<MG4632> coming<MG2597> down<MG2597> like<MG5613> a great<MG3173> sheet<MG3607> lowered<MG2524> by four<MG5064> corners<MG746> from the sky<MG3772>; and it came<MG2064> to where<MG891> I <i>was,</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>and I stared<MG816> at it and was thinking<MG2657> about<MG2657> it, and I saw<MG3708> the four-footed<MG5074> animals<MG5074> of the earth<MG1093>, the wild<MG2342> animals<MG2342>, the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>crawling<MG2062> creatures<MG2062>, and the birds<MG4071> of the sky<MG3772>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>I also<MG2532> heard<MG191> a voice<MG5456> saying<MG3004> to me, ‘Get<MG450> up<MG450>, Peter<MG4074>; <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>kill<MG2380> and eat<MG2068>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But I said<MG3004>, ‘By<MG3365> no<MG3365> means<MG3365>, Lord<MG2962>, for nothing<MG3763> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>unholy<MG2839> or<MG2228> unclean<MG169> has ever<MG3763> entered<MG1525> my mouth<MG4750>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>But a voice<MG5456> from heaven<MG3772> answered<MG611> a second<MG1208> time<MG1208>, ‘What<MG3739> God<MG2316> has cleansed<MG2511>, no<MG3361> longer <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>consider<MG2840> unholy<MG2839>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>This<MG3778> happened<MG1096> three<MG5151> times<MG5151>, and everything<MG537a> was drawn<MG385> back<MG3825> up<MG385> into the sky<MG3772>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And behold<MG2400>, at that moment<MG1824> three<MG5140> men<MG435> who had been sent<MG649> to me from Caesarea<MG2542> came<MG2186> up<MG2186> to<MG2186> the house<MG3614> where<MG3739> we were <i>staying.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And the Spirit<MG4151> told<MG3004> me to go<MG4905> with them without<MG3367> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>misgivings<MG1252>. These<MG3778> six<MG1803> brothers<MG80> also<MG2532> went<MG2064> with me, and we entered<MG1525> the man’s<MG435> house<MG3624>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And he reported<MG518> to us how<MG4459> he had seen<MG3708> the angel<MG32a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>standing<MG2476> in his house<MG3624>, and saying<MG3004>, ‘Send<MG649> <i>some men</i> to Joppa<MG2445> and have Simon<MG4613>, who is also called<MG1941> Peter<MG4074>, brought<MG3343> here<MG3343>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>and he will speak<MG2980> words<MG4487> to you by which<MG3739> you will be saved<MG4982>, you and all<MG3956> your household<MG3624>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And as I began<MG757> to speak<MG2980>, the Holy<MG40> Spirit<MG4151> fell<MG1968> upon<MG1968> them just<MG5618> as <i>He did</i> upon us at the beginning<MG746>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And I remembered<MG3403> the word<MG4487> of the Lord<MG2962>, how<MG5613> He used to say<MG3004>, ‘John<MG2491> baptized<MG907> with water<MG5204>, but you will be baptized<MG907> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>with the Holy<MG40> Spirit<MG4151>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767>, if<MG1487> God<MG2316> gave<MG1325> them the same<MG2470> gift<MG1431> as <i>He</i> also<MG2532> <i>gave</i> to us after believing<MG4100> in the Lord<MG2962> Jesus<MG2424> Christ<MG5547>, who<MG5101> was I that I could<MG1415> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>stand<MG2967> in<MG2967> God’s<MG2316> way<MG2967>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>When they heard<MG191> this<MG3778>, they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>quieted<MG2270> down<MG2270> and glorified<MG1392> God<MG2316>, saying<MG3004>, “Well<MG686> then<MG686>, God<MG2316> has also<MG2532> granted<MG1325> to the Gentiles<MG1484> the repentance<MG3341> <i>that leads</i> to life<MG2222>.” <p class="hdg">The Church in Antioch</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>So<MG3767> then<MG3767> those<MG3588> who were scattered<MG1289> because<MG575> of the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>persecution<MG2347> that occurred<MG1096> in<MG1909> connection<MG1909> with<MG1909> Stephen<MG4736> made<MG1330> their way<MG1330> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>to Phoenicia<MG5403>, Cyprus<MG2954>, and Antioch<MG490>, speaking<MG2980> the word<MG3056> to no<MG3367> one<MG3367> except<MG1508> to Jews<MG2453> alone<MG3441>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>But there were some<MG5100> of them, men<MG435> of<MG2953> Cyprus<MG2953> and Cyrene<MG2956>, who<MG3748> came<MG2064> to Antioch<MG490> and <i>began</i> speaking<MG2980> to the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>Greeks<MG1672> as<MG2532> well<MG2532>, preaching<MG2097> the good<MG2097> news<MG2097> of the Lord<MG2962> Jesus<MG2424>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And the hand<MG5495> of the Lord<MG2962> was with them, and a large<MG4183> number<MG706> who believed<MG4100> turned<MG1994> to the Lord<MG2962>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>The <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>news<MG3056> about<MG4012> them <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>reached<MG191> the ears<MG3775> of the church<MG1577> in Jerusalem<MG2419>, and they sent<MG1821> Barnabas<MG921> off<MG1821> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>to Antioch<MG490>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Then when he arrived<MG3854> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>witnessed<MG3708> the grace<MG5485> of God<MG2316>, he rejoiced<MG5463> and <i>began</i> to encourage<MG3870> them all<MG3956> with <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>resolute<MG4286> heart<MG2588> to remain<MG4357> <i>true</i> to the Lord<MG2962>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>for he was a good<MG18> man<MG435>, and full<MG4134> of the Holy<MG40> Spirit<MG4151> and faith<MG4102>. And <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>considerable<MG2425> numbers<MG3793> were added<MG4369> to the Lord<MG2962>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And he left<MG1831> for Tarsus<MG5019> to look<MG327> for Saul<MG4569>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/11-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>and when he had found<MG2147> him, he brought<MG71> him to Antioch<MG490>. And for an entire<MG3650> year<MG1763> they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>met<MG4863> with the church<MG1577> and taught<MG1321> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>considerable<MG2425> numbers<MG3793> of<MG3793> people<MG3793>;
