The eggs deposited beneath her body were thus protected until the larvae were hatched and able to enter their own life cycle. As the mother died, the crimson fluid stained her body and the surrounding wood. From the dead bodies of such female scarlet worms, the commercial scarlet dyes of antiquity were extracted. What a picture this gives of Christ, dying on the tree, shedding His precious blood that He might 'bring many sons unto glory' (Heb 2:10)! He died for us, that we might live through him! Ps 22:6 describes such a worm and gives us this picture of Christ. (cf. The word mishcan, from shachan, to dwell, means simply a dwelling-place, or habitation. 'When God had brought the children of Israel out of Egypt,' says the very learned Dr. Cudworth,' resolving to manifest himself in a peculiar manner present among them, he thought good to dwell amongst them in a visible and external manner; and therefore, while they were in the wilderness, and sojourned in tents, he would have a tent or tabernacle built, to sojourn with them also. Now, the tabernacle being thus a house for God to dwell in visibly, to make up the notion of dwelling or habitation complete, there must be all things suitable to a house belonging to it. Hence, in the holy place, there must be a table and a candlestick, because these were the ordinary furniture of a room. The table must have its dishes, and spoons, and bowls, and covers, belonging to it, though they were never used; and always be furnished with bread upon it. The candlestick must have its lamps continually burning.'

Exodus 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

Exodus 36:8-19 And every wise hearted man among them that worked the work of the …

Exodus 40:2,17-19 On the first day of the first month shall you set up the tabernacle …

1 Chronicles 17:1 Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to …

1 Chronicles 21:29 For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, …

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelled among us, (and we beheld his glory…

John 2:21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.

Hebrews 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the …

Hebrews 9:9,23,24 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered …

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle …

fine twined linen

Exodus 25:36 Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it shall …

Exodus 25:4 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,

Exodus 35:6,35 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair…

Revelation 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, …

cherubims

Exodus 25:18 And you shall make two cherubim of gold, of beaten work shall you …

cunning work.
