Chhipa</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">Textile industries are one of the largest consumers of water as well as the producers of large quantities of wastewater effluents. In this study, the important physicochemical parameters including pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), electrical conductivity (EC), biological oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) of the raw water used and the effluents generated were analyzed. The physicochemical parameters of the effluent samples were compared with those of the raw water (bore well) samples to analyze the pollution load of the effluents. The values of the studied physicochemical parameters were much higher than the permissible limits as prescribed by CPCB and WHO. Higher values of pH, TDS, BOD and COD have detrimental health effects on both humans and aquatic life. Direct disposal of the untreated industrial effluents into the water bodies is very hazardous for both biotic and abiotic components of the environment. A huge volume of water is consumed in the various processes of dyeing fabrics and the majority of this is discharged with heavy loads of pollutants into the environment. The present study assessed on quality of textile dyeing effluent by analyze the physicochemical parameters such as pH, color, electrical conductivity, turbidity and total dissolved solids, calcium, total hardness, dissolved oxygen, potassium, phenol, phosphates, nitrates, magnesium, and sulfates of the effluent were analyzed. The water sample is collected from various parts of Kanakapura(T) and Harohalli industrial area. The collected samples were analyzed for various physical and chemical parameters i.e pH, total hardness, chloride, nitrate, iron, fluoride using standard methods. From this present study, it’s concluded that the surface water pollution in Kanakapura(T) and Harohalli industrial area is high and it is due to uncontrolled, unregulated effluents and waste water from industries. Many industries of these areas do not have treatment plants, hence discharge directly their effluents into water bodies. The samples of river water were taken upstream and downstream then acidified with HCl p.a., and analysed for the content of examined elements on ICP-MS. The results from ICP-MS analysis were compared upstream and downstream through t-Test in order to check if there’s significant difference. After this comparison it was found that the amount of metals (except barium, calcium and mercury), increased significantly in downstream due to the discharge of factory effluent. Hence, the results were compared with WHO guidelines to check if they are within established limit values. In conclusion it was found that five elements namely: arsenic, cadmium, sodium, lead and antimony, had exceeded limit values thus, the water of Stira River is asserted to be contaminated by toxic elements. Industrial effluents were studied for four months intervals during The pollution levels from these industries were found to be very high and alarming and hence proper care must be taken for the treatment of these effluents before they are discharged to the river. Many big industries have their own effluent treatment plants, but small scale industries are not following the guidelines prescribed for the industrial effluents. The study has shown that almost all the parameters are on the higher levels than the prescribed limit and hence proper treatment methods are needed.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button
