He went out and insulted David <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And he threw stones at him, with stones at him and at all his Servants and all the people and all his Servants who were at his right and at his left <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And thus Shemi was saying to David when he was insulting him: “Get out! Get out, man shedder of blood and evil one! <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>LORD JEHOVAH will pay you all the blood of the house of Shaul, for you have reigned after him, and LORD JEHOVAH has delivered his kingdom into the hands of Abishlum your son, and behold, you are paid for your evil, because you are a man shedder of blood!”<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>Abishi son of Tsuriya said to David: “Why is this dead dog insulting my Lord the King? I shall take off his head!” <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>King David said to him: “What business do I have with you sons of Tsuriya? Let him insult. LORD JEHOVAH has said to him: “Insult David!”, but who says to me, “Why does he think of me thus?" <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>David said to Abishi and to all his Servants: “Behold, my son who came out from my loins seeks to take my life, and also, behold, the sons of my right hand. Let him insult! THE LORD JEHOVAH has spoken to him. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>Now LORD JEHOVAH shall see my submission, and he shall pay me good in exchange for the abuses of today” <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And David was going, and his Servants, on the road, and Shemi was going on the side of the mountain opposite him. He was insulting him and he was stoning him with stones and he was throwing dirt at him <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And the King came and all the people that were with him, as they were weary and they rested there<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And Abishlum and all the people that were with him and all Israel came to Jerusalem, and Akhithuphil with him <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And when Khushi the Arkite the friend of David had come to Abishlum, Khushi said to Abishlum: “The King lives! the King lives!” <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>Abishlum said to Khushi: “This is the love of your friend? I have not had anything in my hands, even as when I served before your father. What shall I do?” <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>Akhithuphel said to Abishlum: “Go into the Concubines of your father whom he left to keep his house, and whenever all Israel hears that you were with the Concubines of your father, the hands of everyone whoever is with you will be strengthened” <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And they pitched for Abishlum a tent on the roof, and Abishlum entered into the Concubines of his father before the eyes of all Israel <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_samuel/16-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And the counsel that Akhithuphel was counseling in those days was like a person inquiring of the Word of God.
