Then he died<MH4191> and was buried<MH6912> in Shamir<MH8069a>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>After<MH310> him, Jair<MH2971> the Gileadite<MH1569> rose<MH6965> up<MH6965> and judged<MH8199> Israel<MH3478> for twenty-two<MH6242, 8147> years<MH8141>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>And he had<MH1961> thirty<MH7970> sons<MH1121> who rode<MH7392> on thirty<MH7970> donkeys<MH5895>, and they had thirty<MH7970> cities<MH5892b> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>in the land<MH776> of Gilead<MH1568> that are called<MH7121> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>Havvoth-jair<MH2334> to this<MH2088> day<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And Jair<MH2971> died<MH4191> and was buried<MH6912> in Kamon<MH7056>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Then the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> again<MH3254> did<MH6213a> evil<MH7451a> in the sight<MH5869> of the LORD<MH3068>, and they served<MH5647> the Baals<MH1168a> and the Ashtaroth<MH6252b>, the gods<MH430> of Aram<MH758>, the gods<MH430> of Sidon<MH6721>, the gods<MH430> of Moab<MH4124>, the gods<MH430> of the sons<MH1121> of Ammon<MH5983>, and the gods<MH430> of the Philistines<MH6430>; so they abandoned<MH5800a> the LORD<MH3068> and did not serve<MH5647> Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And the anger<MH639> of the LORD<MH3068> burned<MH2734> against Israel<MH3478>, and He sold<MH4376> them into the hands<MH3027> of the Philistines<MH6430>, and into the hands<MH3027> of the sons<MH1121> of Ammon<MH5983>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>afflicted<MH7492> and oppressed<MH7533> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>that year<MH8141>; for eighteen<MH8083, 6240> years<MH8141> they <i>oppressed</i> all<MH3605> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> who<MH834> were beyond<MH5676> the Jordan<MH3383>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>in Gilead<MH1568> in the land<MH776> of the Amorites<MH567>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And the sons<MH1121> of Ammon<MH5983> crossed<MH5674a> the Jordan<MH3383> to fight<MH3898a> also<MH1571> against Judah<MH3063>, Benjamin<MH1144>, and the house<MH1004> of Ephraim<MH669>, so that Israel<MH3478> was<MH6887a> in<MH6887a> great<MH3966> difficulty<MH6887a>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Then the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> cried<MH2199> out<MH2199> to the LORD<MH3068>, saying<MH559>, “We have sinned<MH2398> against You, for indeed, we have abandoned<MH5800a> our God<MH430> and served<MH5647> the Baals<MH1168a>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, “<i>Did I</i> not <i>save you</i> from the Egyptians<MH4714>, the Amorites<MH567>, the sons<MH1121> of Ammon<MH5983>, and the Philistines<MH6430>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And when the Sidonians<MH6722>, the Amalekites<MH6002>, and the Maonites<MH4584> oppressed<MH3905> you, you cried<MH6817> out<MH6817> to Me, and I saved<MH3467> you from their hands<MH3027>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Yet you abandoned<MH5800a> Me and served<MH5647> other<MH312> gods<MH430>; therefore<MH3651> I will no<MH3808> longer<MH3254> save<MH3467> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Go<MH1980> and cry<MH2199> out<MH2199> to the gods<MH430> which<MH834> you have chosen<MH977>; let them save<MH3467> you in the time<MH6256> of your distress<MH6869a>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Then the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> said<MH559> to the LORD<MH3068>, “We have sinned<MH2398>, do<MH6213a> to us whatever<MH3605> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>seems<MH5869> good<MH2896a> to You; only<MH389> please<MH4994> save<MH5337> us this<MH2088> day<MH3117>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>So they removed<MH5493> the foreign<MH5236> gods<MH430> from among<MH7130> them and served<MH5647> the LORD<MH3068>; and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>He could<MH7114a> no<MH7114a> longer<MH7114a> endure<MH7114a> the misery<MH5999> of Israel<MH3478>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Then the sons<MH1121> of Ammon<MH5983> were summoned<MH6817>, and they camped<MH2583> in Gilead<MH1568>. And the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> gathered<MH622> together and camped<MH2583> in Mizpah<MH4709>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/judges/10-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And the people<MH5971a>, the leaders<MH8269> of Gilead<MH1568>, said<MH559> to one<MH376> another<MH7453>, “Who<MH4310> is the man<MH376> who<MH834> will begin<MH2490c> to fight<MH3898a> against the sons<MH1121> of Ammon<MH5983>?
