The phenomenon is omnipresent in today’s energy-dependent society and is the core concept of heat exchanger technology. Virtually every industrial process and application related to power generation utilizes the heat transfer process.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">The present book was primarily inspired by a growing interest among scientists in optimizing energy production and improving material efficiency in thermal equipment design. It covers theoretical and practical applications of thermal heat transfer technology in power production and use. In addition, it addresses why energy consumption in an efficient, cost-effective, and clean environment is the most critical factor in determining the choice of heat transfer equipment and how it is used.</span></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><em>What is unique about it?</em></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">The book details the principal methods of heat transfer phenomena in the thermal equipment utilized in industry. In addition, the book describes the first law of thermodynamics and its application to heat transfer mechanisms in heat exchangers, such as air-cooled condensers and evaporators, water chillers, and single-phase heat transfer modes. Furthermore, experimental data for boiling and condensation modes enforced the theoretical heat transfer mechanisms in plain and enhanced surfaces.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">The present book states the most popular mechanisms and models for predicting the fluids' heat transfer coefficients in heat exchangers. The single- and two-phase flows in boiling and condensation were addressed separately and treated in practical examples. Each chapter of the book outlines the application of heat transfer modes in practical industrial applications. Furthermore, a comparative procedure was presented for the available heat transfer coefficient correlations in the open literature. Finally, five new correlations built by the author were published for the first time to predict the heat transfer coefficient in single-phase forced convection and condensation modes. In addition, this book includes a review of the recent development in the heat transfer phenomenon and its applications in modern technology. </span></p> <hr /> <p class="bookdesc"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><strong>Ali. H. Tarrad</strong> currently works as a Researcher at the Theoretical and Applied Energetics and Mechanics Laboratory (LEMTA), a joint research unit of CNRS and the University of Lorraine, France, and has over 14 years’ industry experience as a thermal engineering specialist. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, UK, in 1991.
