We collect, process and preserve the nation鈥檚 bibliographic heritage and make it available to the intellectual and scientific community. Using the latest technologies, we make it possible to conduct <a href="/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=226%3Asistemas&Itemid=168&lang=en">online bibliographic research </a>from anywhere in the world. <br /><br />The National Library of Portugal has a wide variety of collections that encompass documentation from every era, of every type and on every subject. A combination of the legal deposit system, acquisitions and donations mean that our holdings are constantly evolving. Naturally, we place a special emphasis on Portuguese works. <br /><br />Subject to the terms and conditions of the <a target="_blank" href="/images/stories/servicos/documentos/Regulamentos/reggeralacesso2.pdf">General Access Regulations</a>, the BNP鈥檚 holdings are accessible on-site to any Portuguese or foreign researcher who is over the age of 18 and holds a Reader鈥檚 Card.
