performance analysis of mostly used four nonlinearity cancellation techniques used to realize the passive resistor by MOS transistors is presented. The comparison is done by using an integrator circuit which is employing sequentially Op-amp, OTRA and ICCII as active element. All of the circuits are implemented by MOS-C realization and simulated by PSPICE program using 0.35 µm process TSMC MOSIS model parameters. With MOS-C realization, the circuits became electronically tunable and fully integrable which is very important in IC design. The output waveforms, frequency responses, THD analysis results and features of the nonlinearity cancellation techniques are also given. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=integrator%20circuits" title="integrator circuits">integrator circuits</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MOS-C%20realization" title=" MOS-C realization"> MOS-C realization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinearity%20cancellation" title=" nonlinearity cancellation"> nonlinearity cancellation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tuneable%20resistors" title=" tuneable resistors"> tuneable resistors</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38167/comparative-performance-analysis-of-nonlinearity-cancellation-techniques-for-mos-c-realization-in-integrator-circuits" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38167.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">533</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">46</span> Active Noise Cancellation in the Rectangular Enclosure Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=D.%20Shakirah%20Shukor">D. In this research, experimental work was undertaken for canceling an active noise in the rectangular enclosure. The rectangular enclosure was fabricated with multiple speakers and microphones inside the enclosure. A software program using digital signal processing is implemented to evaluate the proposed method. Experimental work was conducted to obtain the acoustic behavior and characteristics of the rectangular enclosure and noise cancellation based on active noise control in low-frequency range. Noise is generated by using multispeaker inside the enclosure and microphones are used for noise measurements. The technique for noise cancellation relies on the principle of destructive interference between two sound fields in the rectangular enclosure. One field is generated by the original or primary sound source, the other by a secondary sound source set up to interfere with, and cancel, that unwanted primary sound. At the end of this research, the result of output noise before and after cancellation are presented and discussed. On the basis of the findings presented in this research, an active noise cancellation in the rectangular enclosure is worth exploring in order to improve the noise control technologies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=active%20noise%20control" title="active noise control">active noise control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20signal%20processing" title=" digital signal processing"> digital signal processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=noise%20cancellation" title=" noise cancellation"> noise cancellation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rectangular%20enclosure" title=" rectangular enclosure"> rectangular enclosure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63338/active-noise-cancellation-in-the-rectangular-enclosure-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63338.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">271</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">45</span> Comparison Analysis of Multi-Channel Echo Cancellation Using Adaptive Filters</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahar%20Mobeen">Sahar Mobeen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anam%20Rafique"> Anam Rafique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Irum%20Baig"> Irum Baig</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Acoustic echo cancellation in multichannel is a system identification application. In real time environment, signal changes very rapidly which required adaptive algorithms such as Least Mean Square (LMS), Leaky Least Mean Square (LLMS), Normalized Least Mean square (NLMS) and average (AFA) having high convergence rate and stable. LMS and NLMS are widely used adaptive algorithm due to less computational complexity and AFA used of its high convergence rate. Because of the complexity of the optimization algorithms, most adaptive filters are digital filters. Adaptive filtering constitutes one of the core technologies in digital signal processing and finds numerous application areas in science as well as in industry. Adaptive filtering techniques are used in a wide range of applications, including adaptive noise cancellation and echo cancellation. Acoustic echo cancellation is a common occurrence in today’s telecommunication systems. The signal interference caused by acoustic echo is distracting to both users and causes a reduction in the quality of the communication. In this paper, we review different techniques of adaptive filtering to reduce this unwanted echo. In this paper, we see the behavior of techniques and algorithms of adaptive filtering like Least Mean Square (LMS), Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS), Variable Step-Size Least Mean Square (VSLMS), Variable Step-Size Normalized Least Mean Square (VSNLMS), New Varying Step Size LMS Algorithm (NVSSLMS) and Recursive Least Square (RLS) algorithms to reduce this unwanted echo, to increase communication quality. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptive%20acoustic" title="adaptive acoustic">adaptive acoustic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=echo%20cancellation" title=" echo cancellation"> echo cancellation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LMS%20algorithm" title=" LMS algorithm"> LMS algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptive%20filter" title=" adaptive filter"> adaptive filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=normalized%20least%20mean%20square%20%28NLMS%29" title=" normalized least mean square (NLMS)"> normalized least mean square (NLMS)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=variable%20step-size%20least%20mean%20square%20%28VSLMS%29" title=" variable step-size least mean square (VSLMS)"> variable step-size least mean square (VSLMS)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167766/acoustic-echo-cancellation-using-different-adaptive-algorithms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167766.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">80</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">43</span> Incidence and Causes of Elective Surgery Cancellations in Songklanagarind Hospital, Thailand</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Kaeotawee">A. Furthermore, it is recognized as a major cause of emotional trauma to patients as well as their families. This study was carried out to assess the incidence and causes of elective surgery cancellation in our setting and to find the appropriate solutions for better quality management. Objective: To determine the incidence and causes of elective surgery cancellations in Songklanagarind Hospital. Material and Method: A prospective survey was conducted from September to November 2012. All patients who had their scheduled elective operations cancelled were assessed. Data was collected on the following 2 components: (1) patient demographics;(2) main reasons for cancellations, which were grouped into patient-related factors and organizational-related factors. Data are reported as a percentage of patients whose operations were cancelled. The association between cancellation status and patient demographics was assessed using univariate logistic regression. Results: 2,395 patients were scheduled for elective surgery and of these 343 (14.3%) had their operations cancelled. Cardiothoracic surgery had the highest rate of cancellations (28.7%) while the least number of cancellations occurred in ophthalmology (10.1%). The main reasons for cancellations were related to the unit's organization (53.6%), due to the surgeon (48.4%). Patient related causes (46.4%), due to non medical reasons (32.1%). The most common cause of cancellation by the surgeon was lack of theater time (21.3%), by patients due to the patient’s nonappearance (25.1%). Cancellation was significantly associated with type of patient, health insurance, type of anesthesia and specialties (p<0.05). Conclusion: Surgery cancellations by surgeons relating to a lack of theater time was a significant problem in our setting. Appropriate solutions for better quality improvement are needed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elective%20cases" title="elective cases">elective cases</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surgery%20cancellation" title=" surgery cancellation"> surgery cancellation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quality%20management" title=" quality management"> quality management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=appropriate%20solutions" title=" appropriate solutions"> appropriate solutions</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14590/incidence-and-causes-of-elective-surgery-cancellations-in-songklanagarind-hospital-thailand" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14590.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">260</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">42</span> Reduction of Multiple User Interference for Optical CDMA Systems Using Successive Interference Cancellation Scheme</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tawfig%20Eltaif">Tawfig Eltaif</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hesham%20A.%20Bakarman"> Hesham A. In this article, we aim to mitigate this problem by studying an interference cancellation scheme called successive interference cancellation (SIC) scheme. This scheme will be tested on two different detection schemes, spectral amplitude coding (SAC) and direct detection systems (DS), using partial modified prime (PMP) as the signature codes. It was found that SIC scheme based on both SAC and DS methods had a potential to suppress the intensity noise, that is to say, it can mitigate MUI noise. Furthermore, SIC/DS scheme showed much lower bit error rate (BER) performance relative to SIC/SAC scheme for different magnitude of effective power. Hence, many more users can be supported by SIC/DS receiver system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20code-division%20multiple%20access%20%28OCDMA%29" title="optical code-division multiple access (OCDMA)">optical code-division multiple access (OCDMA)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=successive%20interference%20cancellation%20%28SIC%29" title=" successive interference cancellation (SIC)"> successive interference cancellation (SIC)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20user%20interference%20%28MUI%29" title=" multiple user interference (MUI)"> multiple user interference (MUI)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spectral%20amplitude%20coding%20%28SAC%29" title=" spectral amplitude coding (SAC)"> spectral amplitude coding (SAC)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=partial%20modified%20prime%20code%20%28PMP%29" title=" partial modified prime code (PMP)"> partial modified prime code (PMP)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33603/reduction-of-multiple-user-interference-for-optical-cdma-systems-using-successive-interference-cancellation-scheme" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33603.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">521</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">41</span> A Novel RLS Based Adaptive Filtering Method for Speech Enhancement</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pogula%20Rakesh">Pogula Rakesh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=T.%20Kishore%20Kumar"> T. The motivation behind this research work is to obtain a clean speech signal of higher quality by applying the optimal noise cancellation technique. Real-time adaptive filtering algorithms seem to be the best candidate among all categories of the speech enhancement methods. In this paper, we propose a speech enhancement method based on Recursive Least Squares (RLS) adaptive filter of speech signals. Experiments were performed on noisy data which was prepared by adding AWGN, Babble and Pink noise to clean speech samples at -5dB, 0dB, 5dB, and 10dB SNR levels. We then compare the noise cancellation performance of proposed RLS algorithm with existing NLMS algorithm in terms of Mean Squared Error (MSE), Signal to Noise ratio (SNR), and SNR loss. Based on the performance evaluation, the proposed RLS algorithm was found to be a better optimal noise cancellation technique for speech signals. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptive%20filter" title="adaptive filter">adaptive filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptive%20noise%20canceller" title=" adaptive noise canceller"> adaptive noise canceller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mean%20squared%20error" title=" mean squared error"> mean squared error</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=noise%20reduction" title=" noise reduction"> noise reduction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NLMS" title=" NLMS"> NLMS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RLS" title=" RLS"> RLS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SNR" title=" SNR"> SNR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SNR%20loss" title=" SNR loss"> SNR loss</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16212/a-novel-rls-based-adaptive-filtering-method-for-speech-enhancement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16212.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">481</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">40</span> Implementation of Successive Interference Cancellation Algorithms in the 5g Downlink</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mokrani%20Mohamed%20Amine">Mokrani Mohamed Amine</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we have implemented successive interference cancellation algorithms in the 5G downlink. We have calculated the maximum throughput in Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) mode in the downlink, where we have obtained a value equal to 836932 b/ms. The transmitter is of type Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) with eight transmitting and receiving antennas. Each antenna among eight transmits simultaneously a data rate of 104616 b/ms that contains the binary messages of the three users; in this case, the Cyclic Redundancy Check CRC is negligible, and the MIMO category is the spatial diversity. The technology used for this is called Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) with a Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) modulation. The transmission is done in a Rayleigh fading channel with the presence of obstacles. The MIMO Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) receiver with two transmitting and receiving antennas recovers its binary message without errors for certain values of transmission power such as 50 dBm, with 0.054485% errors when the transmitted power is 20dBm and with 0.00286763% errors for a transmitted power of 32 dBm(in the case of user 1) as well as with 0.0114705% errors when the transmitted power is 20 dBm also with 0.00286763% errors for a power of 24 dBm(in the case of user2) by applying the steps involved in SIC. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=5G" title="5G">5G</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NOMA" title=" NOMA"> NOMA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=QPSK" title=" QPSK"> QPSK</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TBS" title=" TBS"> TBS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LDPC" title=" LDPC"> LDPC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SIC" title=" SIC"> SIC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capacity" title=" capacity"> capacity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163944/implementation-of-successive-interference-cancellation-algorithms-in-the-5g-downlink" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163944.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">103</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">39</span> Performance Analysis of a Combined Ordered Successive and Interference Cancellation Using Zero-Forcing Detection over Rayleigh Fading Channels in Mimo Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jamal%20R.%20Elbergali">Jamal R. Wireless communication systems demand high data rate and spectral efficiency with increased reliability. MIMO systems have been popular techniques to achieve these goals because increased data rate is possible through spatial multiplexing scheme and diversity. Spatial Multiplexing (SM) is used to achieve higher possible throughput than diversity. In this paper, we propose a Zero-Forcing (ZF) detection using a combination of Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation (OSIC) and Zero Forcing using Interference Cancellation (ZF-IC). The proposed method used an OSIC based on Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) ordering to get the estimation of last symbol (x ̃_(N_T )), then the estimated last symbol is considered to be an input to the ZF-IC. We analyze the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of the proposed MIMO system over Rayleigh Fading Channel, using Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) modulation scheme. It also gives an opportunity to counsel patients regarding different aspects of anaesthesia. Methodology: A retrospective audit of all the patients seen in preoperative assessment clinic, referral letters of all the patients postponed / referred to other sub specialities in the perioperative period from June 2012 - June 2013 was done. In our clinic, we retrieved patient records who were awaiting surgery pending clearance by other sub specialities. Those patients, who could continue with their scheduled date of surgery after having been referred, were not included in the file. We also studied details of same day cancellations from the data base, during the same study period. The reasons for cancellation were examined and defined as avoidable and unavoidable. Results: Less than 0.5% was postponed from the scheduled day of surgery. Less than 0.5% was cancelled on the day of surgery. Conclusions: Patients who undergo pre anaesthetic evaluation in a well-established clinic results in adequate preoperative patient optimisation, avoids unnecessary preoperative admission, efficient theatre utilisation and greater patient satisfaction. The benefits are the result of guidelines and timely update of them which are used by the junior doctors and trainees who run the clinic and a dedicated specialist to supervise them. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=preoperative%20assessment" title="preoperative assessment">preoperative assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=clinic" title=" clinic"> clinic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=referrals" title=" referrals"> referrals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cancellation" title=" cancellation"> cancellation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37748/an-audit-on-optimum-utilisation-of-preoperative-clinic" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37748.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">331</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">37</span> Data-Driven Dynamic Overbooking Model for Tour Operators</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kannapha%20Amaruchkul">Kannapha Amaruchkul</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We formulate a dynamic overbooking model for a tour operator, in which most reservations contain at least two people. The cancellation rate and the timing of the cancellation may depend on the group size. We propose two overbooking policies, namely economic- and service-based. In an economic-based policy, we want to minimize the expected oversold and underused cost, whereas, in a service-based policy, we ensure that the probability of an oversold situation does not exceed the pre-specified threshold. To illustrate the applicability of our approach, we use tour package data in 2016-2018 from a tour operator in Thailand to build a data-driven robust optimization model, and we tested the proposed overbooking policy in 2019. We also compare the data-driven approach to the conventional approach of fitting data into a probability distribution. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=applied%20stochastic%20model" title="applied stochastic model">applied stochastic model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data-driven%20robust%20optimization" title=" data-driven robust optimization"> data-driven robust optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=overbooking" title=" overbooking"> overbooking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=revenue%20management" title=" revenue management"> revenue management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tour%20operator" title=" tour operator"> tour operator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125929/data-driven-dynamic-overbooking-model-for-tour-operators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125929.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">134</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">36</span> Suitable Tuning Method Selection for PID Controller Used in Digital Excitation System of Brushless Synchronous Generator</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Deepak%20M.%20Sajnekar">Deepak M. Cooperative relaying system with a single antenna will be able to reach the advantages of multiple antenna communication systems. It is ideally suitable for the distributed communication systems; the relays can cooperate and form virtual MIMO systems. Thus the paper will aim to investigate the possible enhancement of cooperated system using decode and forward protocol. On decode and forward an attempt to cancel or at least reduce the interference instead of increasing the SNR values is achieved. The latter can be achieved via the use group of relays depending on the channel status from source to relay and relay to destination respectively. In the proposed system, the transmission time has been divided into two phases to be used by decode and forward protocol. The first phase has been allocated for the source to transmit its data whereas the relays and destination nodes are in receiving mode. On the other hand, the second phase is allocated for the first and second groups of relay nodes to relay the data to the destination node. Simulations results have shown an improvement in performance is achieved compared to the conventional decode and forward in terms of BER and transmission rate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cooperative%20systems" title="cooperative systems">cooperative systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decode%20and%20forward" title=" decode and forward"> decode and forward</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interference%20cancellation" title=" interference cancellation"> interference cancellation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=virtual%20MIMO" title=" virtual MIMO"> virtual MIMO</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5471/decode-and-forward-cooperative-protocol-enhancement-using-interference-cancellation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5471.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">323</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">34</span> Elderly Blacks: Exception Narrative in Soap Operas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Valmir%20Moratelli">Valmir Moratelli</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper discusses the construction of the narrative of television fiction from the point of view of the invisibility of the representation of elderly black characters. In MEMS based piezo-resistive pressure sensors, temperature can be considered as the main environmental condition which affects the system performance. The study of the thermal behavior of these sensors is essential to define the parameters that cause the output characteristics to drift. In this work, a study on the effects of temperature and doping concentration in a boron implanted piezoresistor for a silicon-based pressure sensor is discussed. We have optimized the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and temperature coefficient of sensitivity (TCS) values to determine the effect of temperature drift on the sensor performance. To be more precise, in order to reduce the temperature drift, a high doping concentration is needed. And it is well known that the Wheatstone bridge in a pressure sensor is supplied with a constant voltage or a constant current input supply. With a constant voltage supply, the thermal drift can be compensated along with an external compensation circuit, whereas the thermal drift in the constant current supply can be directly compensated by the bridge itself. But it would be beneficial to also compensate the temperature coefficient of piezoresistors so as to further reduce the temperature drift. So, with a current supply, the TCS is dependent on both the TCπ and TCR. As TCπ is a negative quantity and TCR is a positive quantity, it is possible to choose an appropriate doping concentration at which both of them cancel each other. An exact cancellation of TCR and TCπ values is not readily attainable; therefore, an adjustable approach is generally used in practical applications. Thus, one goal of this work has been to better understand the origin of temperature drift in pressure sensor devices so that the temperature effects can be minimized or eliminated. This paper describes the optimum doping levels for the piezoresistors where the TCS of the pressure transducers will be zero due to the cancellation of TCR and TCπ values. Also, the fabrication and characterization of the pressure sensor are carried out. The optimized TCR value obtained for the fabricated die is 2300 ± 100ppm/ᵒC, for which the piezoresistors are implanted at a doping concentration of 5E13 ions/cm³ and the TCS value of -2100ppm/ᵒC is achieved. Therefore, the desired TCR and TCS value is achieved, which are approximately equal to each other, so the thermal effects are considerably reduced. Finally, we have calculated the effect of temperature and doping concentration on the output characteristics of the sensor. This study allows us to predict the sensor behavior against temperature and to minimize this effect by optimizing the doping concentration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piezo-resistive" title="piezo-resistive">piezo-resistive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pressure%20sensor" title=" pressure sensor"> pressure sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=doping%20concentration" title=" doping concentration"> doping concentration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TCR" title=" TCR"> TCR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TCS" title=" TCS"> TCS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137637/optimization-of-temperature-coefficients-for-mems-based-piezoresistive-pressure-sensor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137637.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">180</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">31</span> CDM-Based Controller Design for High-Frequency Induction Heating System with LLC Tank</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Helaimi">M. The performance is studied for several numbers of data channels and various values of control phase duration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=access%20algorithm" title="access algorithm">access algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=channels%20division" title=" channels division"> channels division</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collisions%20avoidance" title=" collisions avoidance"> collisions avoidance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wavelength%20division%20multiplexing" title=" wavelength division multiplexing"> wavelength division multiplexing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63025/channels-splitting-strategy-for-optical-local-area-networks-of-passive-star-topology" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63025.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">296</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29</span> A Reactive Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Model in a Stochastic Environment</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Majid%20Khalili">Majid Khalili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamed%20Tayebi"> Hamed Tayebi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper considers a stochastic flexible job-shop scheduling (SFJSS) problem in the presence of production disruptions, and reactive scheduling is implemented in order to find the optimal solution under uncertainty. In this problem, there are two main disruptions including machine failure which influences operation time, and modification or cancellation of the order delivery date during production. In order to decrease the negative effects of these difficulties, two derived strategies from reactive scheduling are used; the first one is relevant to being able to allocate multiple machine to each job, and the other one is related to being able to select the best alternative process from other job while some disruptions would be created in the processes of a job. For this purpose, a Mixed Integer Linear Programming model is proposed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flexible%20job-shop%20scheduling" title="flexible job-shop scheduling">flexible job-shop scheduling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reactive%20scheduling" title=" reactive scheduling"> reactive scheduling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stochastic%20environment" title=" stochastic environment"> stochastic environment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixed%20integer%20linear%20programming" title=" mixed integer linear programming"> mixed integer linear programming</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69932/a-reactive-flexible-job-shop-scheduling-model-in-a-stochastic-environment" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69932.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">360</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28</span> Compact Low-Voltage Biomedical Instrumentation Amplifiers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Phanumas%20Khumsat">Phanumas Khumsat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chalermchai%20Janmane"> Chalermchai Janmane</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Low-voltage instrumentation amplifier has been proposed for 3-lead electrocardiogram measurement system. The circuit’s interference rejection technique is based upon common-mode feed-forwarding where common-mode currents have cancelled each other at the output nodes. The common-mode current for cancellation is generated by means of common-mode sensing and emitter or source followers with resistors employing only one transistor. Simultaneously this particular transistor also provides common-mode feedback to the patient’s right/left leg to further reduce interference entering the amplifier. The proposed designs have been verified with simulations in 0.18-µm CMOS process operating under 1.0-V supply with CMRR greater than 80dB. In this method, the amount of mass change and the place to measure the structure’s response with least error in frequency correction is chosen. The DTC is an excellent solution for general- purpose induction drives in very wide range the short sampling time required by the TC schemes makes them suited to a very fast torque and flux controlled drives as well the simplicity of the control algorithm. DTC is inherently a motion sensorless control method. The RST regulator can improve the double star induction motor performance in terms of overshoot, rapidity, cancellation of disturbance, and capacity to maintain a high level of performance. Simulation results indicate that the proposed regulator has better performance responses. At present, many airlines deploy overbooking strategy in order to deal with the uncertainty of their customers. Particularly, some airlines sell more cargo capacity than what they have available to freight forwarders with beliefs that some of them will cancel later. In this paper, we propose methods to find the optimal overbooking level of volume and weight for air cargo in order to minimize the total cost, containing cost of spoilage and cost of offloaded. Cancellations of volume and weight are jointly random variables with a known joint distribution. Heuristic approaches applying the idea of weight and volume independency is considered to find an appropriate answer to the full problem. Computational experiments are used to explore the performance of approaches presented in this paper, as compared to a naïve method under different scenarios. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=air%20cargo%20overbooking" title="air cargo overbooking">air cargo overbooking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=offloading%20capacity" title=" offloading capacity"> offloading capacity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimal%20overbooking%20level" title=" optimal overbooking level"> optimal overbooking level</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=revenue%20management" title=" revenue management"> revenue management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spoilage%20capacity" title=" spoilage capacity"> spoilage capacity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10720/air-cargo-overbooking-model-under-stochastic-weight-and-volume-cancellation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10720.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">321</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">23</span> Single-Inductor Multi-Output Converters with Four-Level Output Voltages</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yasunori%20Kobori">Yasunori Kobori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murong%20Li"> Murong Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Feng%20Zhao"> Feng Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu%20Wu"> Shu Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nobukazu%20Takai"> Nobukazu Takai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haruo%20Kobayashi"> Haruo Kobayashi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposes an electrolytic capacitor-less transformer-less AC-DC LED driver with a current ripple canceller. The balancing of the resultant of the inertia forces of 3-RRR planar parallel manipulators is carried out through mass redistribution and centre of mass acceleration minimization. The proposed balancing technique is achieved in two steps: at first, optimal redistribution of the masses of input links is accomplished, which ensures the similarity of the end-effector trajectory and the manipulator’s common centre of mass trajectory, then, optimal trajectory planning of the end-effector by 'bang-bang' profile is reached. In such a way, the minimization of the magnitude of the acceleration of the centre of mass of the manipulator brings about a minimization of shaking force. To minimize the resultant of the inertia moments (shaking moment), the active balancing via inertia flywheel is applied. However, in this case, the active balancing is quite different from previous applications because it provides only a partial cancellation of the shaking moment due to the incomplete balancing of shaking force. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20balancing" title="dynamic balancing">dynamic balancing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inertia%20force%20minimization" title=" inertia force minimization"> inertia force minimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inertia%20moment%20minimization" title=" inertia moment minimization"> inertia moment minimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3-RRR%20planar%20parallel%20manipulator" title=" 3-RRR planar parallel manipulator"> 3-RRR planar parallel manipulator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70145/synthesis-of-balanced-3-rrr-planar-parallel-manipulators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70145.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">461</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">19</span> Method of False Alarm Rate Control for Cyclic Redundancy Check-Aided List Decoding of Polar Codes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dmitry%20Dikarev">Dmitry Dikarev</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ajit%20Nimbalker"> Ajit Nimbalker</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alexei%20Davydov"> Alexei Davydov</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Polar coding is a novel example of error correcting codes, which can achieve Shannon limit at block length N→∞ with log-linear complexity. Active research is being carried to adopt this theoretical concept for using in practical applications such as 5th generation wireless communication systems. Cyclic redundancy check (CRC) error detection code is broadly used in conjunction with successive cancellation list (SCL) decoding algorithm to improve finite-length polar code performance. However, there are two issues: increase of code block payload overhead by CRC bits and decrease of CRC error-detection capability. This paper proposes a method to control CRC overhead and false alarm rate of polar decoding. As shown in the computer simulations results, the proposed method provides the ability to use any set of CRC polynomials with any list size while maintaining the desired level of false alarm rate. This level of flexibility allows using polar codes in 5G New Radio standard. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=5G%20New%20Radio" title="5G New Radio">5G New Radio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=channel%20coding" title=" channel coding"> channel coding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclic%20redundancy%20check" title=" cyclic redundancy check"> cyclic redundancy check</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=list%20decoding" title=" list decoding"> list decoding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polar%20codes" title=" polar codes"> polar codes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85145/method-of-false-alarm-rate-control-for-cyclic-redundancy-check-aided-list-decoding-of-polar-codes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85145.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">238</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18</span> Low Power CMOS Amplifier Design for Wearable Electrocardiogram Sensor</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ow%20Tze%20Weng">Ow Tze Weng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Suhaila%20Isaak"> Suhaila Isaak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yusmeeraz%20Yusof"> Yusmeeraz Yusof</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The trend of health care screening devices in the world is increasingly towards the favor of portability and wearability, especially in the most common electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring system. This is because these wearable screening devices are not restricting the patient’s freedom and daily activities. While the demand of low power and low cost biomedical system on chip (SoC) is increasing in exponential way, the front end ECG sensors are still suffering from flicker noise for low frequency cardiac signal acquisition, 50 Hz power line electromagnetic interference, and the large unstable input offsets due to the electrode-skin interface is not attached properly. In this paper, a high performance CMOS amplifier for ECG sensors that suitable for low power wearable cardiac screening is proposed. The amplifier adopts the highly stable folded cascode topology and later being implemented into RC feedback circuit for low frequency DC offset cancellation. By using 0.13 µm CMOS technology from Silterra, the simulation results show that this front end circuit can achieve a very low input referred noise of 1 pV/√Hz and high common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 174.05 dB. It also gives voltage gain of 75.45 dB with good power supply rejection ratio (PSSR) of 92.12 dB. The total power consumption is only 3 µW and thus suitable to be implemented with further signal processing and classification back end for low power biomedical SoC. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CMOS" title="CMOS">CMOS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ECG" title=" ECG"> ECG</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=amplifier" title=" amplifier"> amplifier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20power" title=" low power"> low power</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78090/low-power-cmos-amplifier-design-for-wearable-electrocardiogram-sensor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78090.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">248</span> </span> </div> </div> <ul class="pagination"> <li class="page-item disabled"><span class="page-link">&lsaquo;</span></li> <li class="page-item active"><span class="page-link">1</span></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cancellation&amp;page=2">2</a></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cancellation&amp;page=2" rel="next">&rsaquo;</a></li> </ul> </div> </main> <footer> <div id="infolinks" class="pt-3 pb-2"> <div class="container"> <div style="background-color:#f5f5f5;" class="p-3"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> About <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support#legal-information">Legal</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/WASET-16th-foundational-anniversary.pdf">WASET celebrates its 16th foundational anniversary</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Account <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile">My Account</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Explore <li><a href="https://waset.org/disciplines">Disciplines</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conferences">Conferences</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conference-programs">Conference Program</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/committees">Committees</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Publications</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Research <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts">Abstracts</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Periodicals</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/archive">Archive</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Open Science <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Philosophy.pdf">Open Science Philosophy</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Award.pdf">Open Science Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Society-Open-Science-and-Open-Innovation.pdf">Open Innovation</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Postdoctoral-Fellowship-Award.pdf">Postdoctoral Fellowship Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Scholarly-Research-Review.pdf">Scholarly Research Review</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Support <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">Support</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Report Abuse</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container text-center"> <hr style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:.3rem;"> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" target="_blank" class="text-muted small">Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License</a> <div id="copy" class="mt-2">&copy;
