According to Thenius, "the brook Zered" of <a href="/deuteronomy/2-13.htm" title="Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.">Deuteronomy 2:13</a> is meant; the present <span class= "ital">Wady el-Ahsy</span>, (or <span class= "ital">el-Hasa</span>) which forms the natural southern boundary of Moab, and from which several gorges lead up into the Moabite highlands.
