The paper deals with the discrete version of this equation, which describes a discrete-time Markov chain with time-periodic transition matrices, referred to as a periodically inhomogeneous Markov chain. One analyzes successively periodic reversibility, detailed balance, entropy production rate, circulation distribution and the mutual relations which might exist between them.
