The focus of this research study is to know about the effects of excessive facebook usage on the grades and assignments of studentsbefore and after sign up on Facebook .This research study has been delimited to the students of social sciences, University of Swat.The nature of the study is quantitative and the data has been collected, processed and analyzed through structured questionnaire, SPSS, and the results has been drawn.The students belonged to all social sciences departments having population 1314 (Social sciences) both genders who were excessive users was the target population of researcher.The results were drawn in the form of tables having percentages and frequency distributions. The findings of the research study in relation to objectives and hypothesis expresses that Facebook have reduced tha grades of students in their assignments and exams. It shows that students stays for long hours on Facebook and procrastinates their studies which puts a bad effects on their academic grades. The study suggests that students have to use Facebook rationaly and for academic purpose.In addition, awareness campaign must be run in order to curb the negative effects of Facebook effects of The findings of the research study in relation to objectives and hypothesis expresses that Facebook have reduced tha grades of students in their assignments and exams. It shows that students stays for long hours on Facebook and procrastinates their studies which puts a bad effects on their academic grades. The purpose of this study is to investigate if there is any relationship between Facebook use and student's GPA. We based our study on the hypothesis that Facebook usage has a negative effect on the academic grades of students. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires completed by over 100 female students from the department of Information Technology (IT) in the College of Computer and Information Sciences at King Saud University (KSU). The study findings showed that 55% of the students feel that the use of Facebook or Socail Networking Sites (SNSs) could be negatively related to their academic performance. The data were collected from randomly selected three hundred fifty three students through self-reported questionnaire. The analysis was done by using SPSS version 20. This study used descriptive statistics, Independent t-test, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Pearson correlation to analyze the collected data. The finding of this study revealed that male students were relatively more users of facebook than female students and the age ranges between 18-21 were more in using facebook than 14-17 years old. Findings also show that majority of secondary and preparatory students used facebook for the purpose of entertainment, chatting with friends, making new friendships respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in scores of facebook usage between males and females students and also no statistically significant difference in scores of facebook usage among the age of 14-17and 18-21 years. There was moderately negative relationship between facebook usage and academic performance of students. There was a statistically significant difference in academic performance scores for users and non users. Finally, there was a statistically significance difference between the low, moderate and high level of facebook users. To concludes that the usage of Facebook among student has negative effect to the academic performance on the students of the Beshale secondary and preparatory school. Mostly the victim of this addictive online communication of facebook is youth (15-35 years of age) as of their leisure time due to low responsibility in their early dependency periods and unawareness about the impact of its over use on them due to which their various aspects are getting affected in addition to acedamic grades. The impact on acedamic grades is both positive as well as negative but the intensity of later is much higher than former type of impact. It explores behavioural factors affecting students utilising Facebook. Questionnaires were personally distributed to 667 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the University of Malaya to determine their intentions for using Facebook, which will allow us to discern the symptoms related to excessive Facebook usage by students. The AMOS software was used to hypothesise the relationship between the variables. The results show that students use Facebook for entertainment, relaxing/escaping, and passing time, but not for socialising and social information. Spending time on Facebook has a positive effect on their academic performance, which indicated that the time spent on Facebook did not affect their education. It is anticipated that the findings from this study would provide clear insights on how the behavioural factors of a student affect their academic performance.
