In Hebrew thought, the "inmost parts" are often associated with the heart, which is considered the center of one's moral and spiritual life. The verse suggests that true transformation and cleansing must reach these depths, not just surface behavior. This aligns with the biblical emphasis on inner purity and integrity, as seen in <a href="/psalms/51-6.htm">Psalm 51:6</a>, where God desires truth in the inward being.
