you shall not be tattooed and you shall not make baldness between your eyes for the dead. <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>Because you are holy people to LORD JEHOVAH your God and LORD JEHOVAH your God chose you that you would be the most beloved people to him of all of the nations upon the face of the Earth.<p> <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>You shall not eat anything that is defiled. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And this is the animal that you shall eat: the ox and the lamb and the ewe and the goat. <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And the stag and the deer and the antelope and the mountain goat and the buffalo and the ibex and the mountain sheep. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>Every beast that parts its hoof and divides it in two and chews cud; eat that. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>But these you shall not eat, of those that chew cud and of those that part their hooves as cloven cleft feet: the camel, and the arnaba, and the rabbit chewing cud and their hooves do not part; they are defiled to you. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And the swine parts its hoof and does not chew cud; it is defiled to you; you shall not eat of their flesh and their carcasses you shall not touch.<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And of all that is in water eat these: eat everything that has fins and scales: <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And you shall not eat anything that has no fins and scales; they shall not be eaten. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And eat every bird that is clean. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And you shall not eat anything that is defiled, but give it to the traveler who is in your city; he will eat it.<p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>Or sell it to a foreigner, because you are a holy people to LORD JEHOVAH your God; you shall not boil a kid in the milk of its mother.<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>To tithe, give a tenth of all the crops of your seed that the field brings forth, year to year. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And eat a tenth of your crops and of your wine and of your oil and the firstborn of your oxen and of your flocks before LORD JEHOVAH your God in the place where He has chosen to camp his Name there, and you shall learn to worship before LORD JEHOVAH your God all of the days. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And if the journey is too much for you and you cannot take it, because the place that LORD JEHOVAH your God has chosen to camp his name there is too far from you, when LORD JEHOVAH your God blessed you: <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>Sell it for silver and wrap up the money in your hand and go to the region LORD JEHOVAH your God has chosen: <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And buy with the silver everything that your soul wants, from oxen, or from sheep, or from wine, or from strong drink, or from all that your soul demands for you, and eat there before LORD JEHOVAH your God and rejoice, you and your household: <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And do not forsake the Levite who is in your city, because he has no division or an inheritance with you.<p> <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/deuteronomy/14-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And after three years bring out all the tithes of your crops in that year;
