Come<MG1831> out<MG1831> to meet<MG529> <i>him.</i>’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Then<MG5119> all<MG3956> those<MG1565> virgins<MG3933> got<MG1453> up<MG1453> and trimmed<MG2885> their lamps<MG2985>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But the foolish<MG3474> <i>virgins</i> said<MG3004> to the prudent<MG5429> ones, ‘Give<MG1325> us some<MG1537> of your oil<MG1637>, because<MG3754> our lamps<MG2985> are going<MG4570> out<MG4570>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>However<MG1161>, the prudent<MG5429> ones answered<MG611>, ‘<i>No,</i> there most<MG3379> certainly<MG3364> would not be enough<MG714> for us and you <i>too;</i> go<MG4198> instead<MG3123> to the merchants<MG4453> and buy<MG59> <i>some</i> for yourselves<MG1438>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But while they were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>on their way<MG565> to buy<MG59> <i>the oil,</i> the groom<MG3566> came<MG2064>, and those<MG3588> who were ready<MG2092> went<MG1525> in<MG1525> with him to the wedding<MG1062> feast<MG1062>; and the door<MG2374> was shut<MG2808>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Yet<MG1161> later<MG5305>, the other<MG3062> virgins<MG3933> also<MG2532> came<MG2064>, saying<MG3004>, ‘Lord<MG2962>, lord<MG2962>, open<MG455> up<MG455> for us.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>But he answered<MG611>, ‘Truly<MG281> I say<MG3004> to you, I do not know<MG3609a> you.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Be on the alert<MG1127> then<MG3767>, because<MG3754> you do not know<MG3609a> the day<MG2250> nor<MG3761> the hour<MG5610>. <p class="hdg">Parable of the Talents</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>“For <i>it is</i> just<MG5618> like<MG5618> a man<MG444> <i>about</i> to go<MG589> on<MG589> a<MG589> journey<MG589>, <i>who</i> called<MG2564> his own<MG2398> slaves<MG1401> and entrusted<MG3860> his possessions<MG5225> to them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>To one<MG3739> he gave<MG1325> five<MG4002> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>talents<MG5007>, to another<MG3739, 1161>, two<MG1417>, and to another<MG3739, 1161>, one<MG1520>, each<MG1538> according<MG2596> to his own<MG2398> ability<MG1411>; and he went<MG589> on<MG589> his journey<MG589>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>The one who had received<MG2983> the five<MG4002> talents<MG5007> immediately<MG2112> went<MG4198> and did<MG2038b> business<MG2038b> with them, and earned<MG2770> five<MG4002> more<MG243> <i>talents.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>In the same<MG5615> way<MG5615> the one who <i>had received</i> the two<MG1417> <i>talents</i> earned<MG2770> two<MG1417> more<MG243>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>But he who received<MG2983> the one<MG1520> <i>talent</i> went<MG565> away<MG565> and dug<MG3736> <i>a hole in the</i> ground<MG1093>, and hid<MG2928> his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>master’s<MG2962> money<MG694>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>“Now<MG1161> after<MG3326> a long<MG4183> time<MG5550> the master<MG2962> of those<MG1565> slaves<MG1401> *came<MG2064> and *settled<MG4868> accounts<MG3056> with them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>The one who had received<MG2983> the five<MG4002> talents<MG5007> came<MG4334> up<MG4334> and brought<MG4374> five<MG4002> more<MG243> talents<MG5007>, saying<MG3004>, ‘Master<MG2962>, you entrusted<MG3860> five<MG4002> talents<MG5007> to me. See<MG2396>, I have earned<MG2770> five<MG4002> more<MG243> talents<MG5007>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>His master<MG2962> said<MG5346> to him, ‘Well<MG2095> done<MG2095>, good<MG18> and faithful<MG4103> slave<MG1401>. You were faithful<MG4103> with a few<MG3641> things<MG3641>, I will put<MG2525> you in<MG2525> charge<MG2525> of many<MG4183> things<MG4183>; enter<MG1525> the joy<MG5479> of your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>master<MG2962>.’ <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>“Also<MG2532> the one<MG3588> who<MG3588> <i>had received</i> the two<MG1417> talents<MG5007> came<MG4334> up<MG4334> and said<MG3004>, ‘Master<MG2962>, you entrusted<MG3860> two<MG1417> talents<MG5007> to me. See<MG2396>, I have earned<MG2770> two<MG1417> more<MG243> talents<MG5007>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>His master<MG2962> said<MG5346> to him, ‘Well<MG2095> done<MG2095>, good<MG18> and faithful<MG4103> slave<MG1401>. You were faithful<MG4103> with a few<MG3641> things<MG3641>, I will put<MG2525> you in<MG2525> charge<MG2525> of many<MG4183> things<MG4183>; enter<MG1525> the joy<MG5479> of your master<MG2962>.’ <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>“Now<MG1161> the one who had received<MG2983> the one<MG1520> talent<MG5007> also<MG2532> came<MG4334> up<MG4334> and said<MG3004>, ‘Master<MG2962>, I knew<MG1097> you to be a hard<MG4642> man<MG444>, reaping<MG2325> where<MG3699> you did not sow<MG4687>, and gathering<MG4863> where<MG3606> you did not scatter<MG1287> <i>seed.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And I was<MG5399> afraid<MG5399>, so I went<MG565> away<MG565> and hid<MG2928> your talent<MG5007> in the ground<MG1093>. See<MG2396>, you <i>still</i> have<MG2192> what<MG3588> is yours<MG4674>.’ <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>“But his master<MG2962> answered<MG611> and said<MG3004> to him, ‘You <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>worthless<MG4190>, lazy<MG3636> slave<MG1401>! Did you know<MG3609a> that I reap<MG2325> where<MG3699> I did not sow<MG4687>, and gather<MG4863> where<MG3606> I did not scatter<MG1287> <i>seed?</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Then<MG3767> you ought<MG1163> to have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>put<MG906> my money<MG694> in the bank<MG5133>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>on my arrival<MG2064> I would have received<MG2865> my <i>money</i> back<MG2865> with interest<MG5110>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767>: take<MG142> the talent<MG5007> away<MG142> from him, and give<MG1325> it to the one who has<MG2192> the ten<MG1176> talents<MG5007>.’ <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>“For to everyone<MG3956> who has<MG2192>, <i>more</i> shall be given<MG1325>, and he will have<MG4052> an<MG4052> abundance<MG4052>; but from the one who does not have<MG2192>, even<MG2532> what<MG3739> he does have<MG2192> shall be taken<MG142> away<MG142>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>And throw<MG1544b> the worthless<MG888> slave<MG1401> into the outer<MG1857> darkness<MG4655>; in<MG1563> that<MG1563> place<MG1563> there will be weeping<MG2805> and gnashing<MG1030> of teeth<MG3599>. <p class="hdg">The Judgment</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>“But when<MG3752> the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> comes<MG2064> in His glory<MG1391>, and all<MG3956> the angels<MG32a> with Him, then<MG5119> He will sit<MG2523> on His glorious<MG1391> throne<MG2362>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>And all<MG3956> the nations<MG1484> will be gathered<MG4863> before<MG1715> Him; and He will separate<MG873> them from one<MG240> another<MG240>, just<MG5618> as the shepherd<MG4166> separates<MG873> the sheep<MG4263b> from the goats<MG2056>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>and He will put<MG2476> the sheep<MG4263b> on His right<MG1188>, but the goats<MG2055> on the left<MG2176>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>“Then<MG5119> the King<MG935> will say<MG3004> to those<MG3588> on His right<MG1188>, ‘Come<MG1205>, you who are blessed<MG2127> of My Father<MG3962>, inherit<MG2816> the kingdom<MG932> prepared<MG2090> for you from the foundation<MG2602> of the world<MG2889>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>For I was hungry<MG3983>, and you gave<MG1325> Me <i>something</i> to eat<MG2068>; I was thirsty<MG1372>, and you gave<MG4222> Me <i>something</i> to<MG4222> drink<MG4222>; I was a stranger<MG3581>, and you invited<MG4863> Me in; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>naked<MG1131>, and you clothed<MG4016> Me; I was sick<MG770>, and you visited<MG1980a> Me; I was in prison<MG5438>, and you came<MG2064> to Me.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>Then<MG5119> the righteous<MG1342> will answer<MG611> Him, ‘Lord<MG2962>, when<MG4219> did we see<MG3708> You hungry<MG3983>, and feed<MG5142> You, or<MG2228> thirsty<MG1372>, and give<MG4222> You <i>something</i> to<MG4222> drink<MG4222>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/25-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>And when<MG4219> did we see<MG3708> You <i>as</i> a stranger<MG3581>, and invite<MG4863> You in, or<MG2228> naked<MG1131>, and clothe<MG4016> You?
