parameters that affect the performance of microwave absorbers is the shape of the absorbers. This paper shows the performance (reflection loss) of truncated pyramidal and truncated wedge microwave absorbers in the range frequency between 8.2 to 12.4 GHz (X-Band) in simulation. The material used is sugarcane bagasse (SCB) which is one of the new materials that used to fabricate the microwave absorber. The complex permittivity was measured using Agilent dielectric probe technique. The designs were simulated using CST Microwave Studio Software. Compared to earlier dry adhesives, the recently developed ones exhibit excellent adhesion strength, smart directional adhesion, and structural robustness. With these unique adhesion properties, bio-inspired dry adhesive pads have strong potential for use in precision industries such as semiconductor or display manufacturing. In this communication, we present a new manufacturing technology based on advanced dry adhesive systems that enable precise manipulation of large-area substrates over repeating cycles without any requirement for external force application. This new manufacturing technique is also highly accurate and environment-friendly, and thus has strong potential as a next-generation clean manufacturing technology. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gecko" title="gecko">gecko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=manufacturing%20robot" title=" manufacturing robot"> manufacturing robot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=precision%20manufacturing" title=" precision manufacturing"> precision manufacturing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38058/biomimetic-adhesive-pads-for-precision-manufacturing-robots" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38058.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">505</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">96</span> Research for Hollow Reinforced Concrete Bridge Piers in Korea</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ho%20Young%20Kim">Ho Young Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae%20Hoon%20Lee"> Jae Hoon Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Do%20Kyu%20Hwang"> Do Kyu Hwang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Im%20Jong%20Kwahk"> Im Jong Kwahk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tae%20Hoon%20Kim"> Tae Hoon Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seung%20Hoon%20Lee"> Seung Hoon Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hollow section for bridge columns has some advantages. The burn rate of the NaN3 MP/CuO NP composite powder was only ~0.3 m/s. However, the addition of Al NPs to the NaN3 MP/CuO NP matrix caused the rates to reach ~5.3 m/s, respectively. In addition, the N2 gas volume flow rate generated by the ignition of the NaN3 MP/CuO NP composite powder was only ~0.6 L/s, which was significantly increased to ~3.9 L/s by adding Al NPs to the NaN3 MP/CuO NP composite powder. This suggested that the highly reactive NPs, with the assistance of CuO NPs, were effective heat-generating sources enabling the complete thermal decomposition of NaN3 MPs upon ignition. Al NPs were highly effective in the gas generators because of the increased reactivity induced by the reduced particle size. Finally, we successfully demonstrated that a homemade airbag with a specific volume of ~140 mL could be rapidly and fully inflated by the thermal activation of nanoscale energetic material-added gas-generating agents (i.e., NaN3 MP/Al NP/CuO NP composites) within the standard time of ~50 ms for airbag inflation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoenergetic%20materials" title="nanoenergetic materials">nanoenergetic materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aluminum%20nanoparticles" title=" aluminum nanoparticles"> aluminum nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=copper%20oxide%20nanoparticles" title=" copper oxide nanoparticles"> copper oxide nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gas%20generators" title=" gas generators"> gas generators</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45745/nanoenergetic-materials-as-effective-heat-energy-sources-for-enhanced-gas-generators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45745.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">367</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">94</span> Reservoir Inflow Prediction for Pump Station Using Upstream Sewer Depth Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Osung%20Im">Osung Im</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neha%20Yadav"> Neha Yadav</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eui%20Hoon%20Lee"> Eui Hoon Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joong%20Hoon%20Kim"> Joong Hoon Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approach is commonly used in lots of fields for forecasting. In water resources engineering, forecast of water level or inflow of reservoir is useful for various kind of purposes. Due to advantages of ANN, many papers were written for inflow prediction in river networks, but in this study, ANN is used in urban sewer networks. The growth of severe rain storm in Korea has increased flood damage severely, and the precipitation distribution is getting more erratic. Therefore, effective pump operation in pump station is an essential task for the reduction in urban area. If real time inflow of pump station reservoir can be predicted, it is possible to operate pump effectively for reducing the flood damage. This study used ANN model for pump station reservoir inflow prediction using upstream sewer depth data. For this study, rainfall events, sewer depth, and inflow into Banpo pump station reservoir between years of 2013-2014 were considered. Feed – Forward Back Propagation (FFBF), Cascade – Forward Back Propagation (CFBP), Elman Back Propagation (EBP) and Nonlinear Autoregressive Exogenous (NARX) were used as ANN model for prediction. A comparison of results with ANN model suggests that ANN is a powerful tool for inflow prediction using the sewer depth data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20neural%20network" title="artificial neural network">artificial neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=forecasting" title=" forecasting"> forecasting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reservoir%20inflow" title=" reservoir inflow"> reservoir inflow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sewer%20depth" title=" sewer depth"> sewer depth</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58382/reservoir-inflow-prediction-for-pump-station-using-upstream-sewer-depth-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58382.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">317</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">93</span> H∞ Sampled-Data Control for Linear Systems Time-Varying Delays: Application to Power System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang-Ho%20Lee">Chang-Ho Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seung-Hoon%20Lee"> Seung-Hoon Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Myeong-Jin%20Park"> Myeong-Jin Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oh-Min%20Kwon"> Oh-Min Kwon</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper investigates improved stability criteria for sampled-data control of linear systems with disturbances and time-varying delays. Utilization of frequency spectrum of leg acceleration to derive the freeze index requires much calculation and it would lead to delayed cueing. We hypothesized that FOG can be reasonably detected from the time domain amplitude of foot acceleration. A time instant was recognized as FOG if the mean amplitude of the acceleration in the time window surrounding the time instant was in the specific FOG range. Parameters required in the FOG detection was optimized by simulated annealing. The suggested time domain methods showed performances comparable to those of frequency domain methods. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=freezing%20of%20gait" title="freezing of gait">freezing of gait</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=detection" title=" detection"> detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parkinson%27s%20disease" title=" Parkinson's disease"> Parkinson's disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time-domain%20method" title=" time-domain method"> time-domain method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/4337/detection-of-parkinsonian-freezing-of-gait" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/4337.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">444</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">91</span> Preparation and Characterizations of Natural Material Based Ceramic Membranes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=In-Hyuck%20Song">In-Hyuck Song</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jang-Hoon%20Ha"> Jang-Hoon Ha</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Recently, porous ceramic membranes have attracted great interest due to their outstanding thermal and chemical stability. A distributed parameter system is a dynamical and mathematical model described by a partial differential equation. The Haar function has some disadvantages of calculation because it contains irrational numbers, for these reasons the rationalized Haar function that has only rational numbers. As a result, we obtained the model having 95.54% accuracy of the measurement data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrical%20characteristics%20of%20capacitive%20touchscreen" title="electrical characteristics of capacitive touchscreen">electrical characteristics of capacitive touchscreen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=iterative%20extraction" title=" iterative extraction"> iterative extraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lumped%20RC%20model" title=" lumped RC model"> lumped RC model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physical%20lengths%20of%20channel%20paths" title=" physical lengths of channel paths"> physical lengths of channel paths</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88656/iterative-panel-rc-extraction-for-capacitive-touchscreen" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88656.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">334</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">79</span> The Effect of Pulsator on Washing Performance in a Front-Loading Washer</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eung%20Ryeol%20Seo">Eung Ryeol Seo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hee%20Tae%20Lim"> Hee Tae Lim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eunsuk%20Bang"> Eunsuk Bang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soon%20Cheol%20Kweon"> Soon Cheol Kweon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jeoung-Kyo%20Jeoung"> Jeoung-Kyo Jeoung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ji-Hoon%20Choic"> Ji-Hoon Choic</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The object of this study is to investigate the effect of pulsator on washing performance quantitatively for front-loading washer. The front-loading washer with pulsator shows washing performance improvement of 18% and the particle-based body simulation technique has been applied to figure out the relation between washing performance and mechanical forces exerted on textile during washing process. As a result, the mechanical forces, such as collision force and strain force, acting on the textile have turned out to be about twice numerically. This bat population has been decreasing because of habitat loss. This study reported the isolation and characterization of ten polymorphic microsatellite loci in endangered M. rufoniger. To do genetic studies, we use saliva DNA of bats during winter sleep period. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 2 to 9, and the observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.063 to 0.750 and from 0.063 to 0.865, respectively. The average polymorphic information content (PIC) value of these markers was 0.37. Two loci of M. rufoniger showed departure from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(HWE). This demonstrated that the ten microsatellite loci can be used as genetic markers for further investigation of the copper-winged bat. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=copper-winged%20bat" title="copper-winged bat">copper-winged bat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microsatellite" title=" microsatellite"> microsatellite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=population%20genetics" title=" population genetics"> population genetics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=South%20Korea" title=" South Korea"> South Korea</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46642/a-set-of-microsatellite-markers-for-population-genetics-of-copper-winged-bat-myotis-rufoniger-using-saliva-dna" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46642.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">372</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">77</span> The Role of Team Efficacy and Coaching on the Relationships between Distributive and Procedural Justice and Job Engagement</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yoonhee%20Cho">Yoonhee Cho</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gye-Hoon%20Hong"> Gye-Hoon Hong </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study focuses on the roles of distributive and procedural justice on job engagement. Ordinary linear regression was used to analyze data from seven South Korean Companies (total N=346). Results confirmed the hypothesized model indicating that both distributive and procedural justices were positively related to job engagement of employees. Team efficacy and team leaders’ coaching moderated the relationship between distributive justice and job engagement whereas it brought non-significant result found for procedural justice. The facts that two types of justice and the interactive effects of two situational variables were different implied that different managerial strategies should be used when job engagement was to be enhanced. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coaching" title="coaching">coaching</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributive%20justice" title=" distributive justice"> distributive justice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=job%20engagement" title=" job engagement"> job engagement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=procedural%20justice" title=" procedural justice"> procedural justice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=team%20efficacy" title=" team efficacy"> team efficacy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23699/the-role-of-team-efficacy-and-coaching-on-the-relationships-between-distributive-and-procedural-justice-and-job-engagement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23699.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">554</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">76</span> Design of Middleware for Mobile Group Control in Physical Proximity</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moon-Tak%20Oh">Moon-Tak Oh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kyung-Min%20Park"> Kyung-Min Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tae-Eun%20Yoon"> Tae-Eun Yoon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hoon%20Choi"> Hoon Choi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chil-Woo%20Lee"> Chil-Woo Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper is about middle-ware which enables group-user applications on mobile devices in physical proximity to interact with other devices without intervention of a central server. These requirements include group management, synchronization, and resource management. Group Management needs to provide various capabilities to such applications with respect to managing multiple users (e.g., creation of groups, discovery of group or individual users, member join/leave, election of a group manager and service-group association) using D2D communication technology. K-means clustering is a well-known clustering algorithm aiming to cluster a set of data points to a predefined number of clusters. In this paper, we implement K-means algorithm based on MapReduce framework with RHadoop to make the clustering method applicable to large scale data. RHadoop is a collection of R packages that allow users to manage and analyze data with Hadoop. The main idea is to introduce a combiner as a function of our map output to decrease the amount of data needed to be processed by reducers. The experimental results demonstrated that K-means algorithm using RHadoop can scale well and efficiently process large data sets on commodity hardware. We also showed that our K-means algorithm using RHadoop with combiner was faster than regular algorithm without combiner as the size of data set increases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=big%20data" title="big data">big data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=combiner" title=" combiner"> combiner</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K-means%20clustering" title=" K-means clustering"> K-means clustering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RHadoop" title=" RHadoop"> RHadoop</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41570/improved-k-means-clustering-algorithm-using-rhadoop-with-combiner" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41570.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">438</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">74</span> New Dynamic Constitutive Model for OFHC Copper Film</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jin%20Sung%20Kim">Jin Sung Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hoon%20Huh"> Hoon Huh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The material properties of OFHC copper film was investigated with the High-Speed Material Micro Testing Machine (HSMMTM) at the high strain rates.
