behaviors of solutions to some coupled systems with infinite memory, which consist of two partial differential equations where only one partial differential equation has damping. Such coupled systems are good mathematical models to describe the deformation and stress characteristics of some viscoelastic materials affected by temperature change, external forces, and other factors. By using the theory of operator semigroups, we give wellposedness results for the Cauchy problem for these coupled systems. Then, with the help of some auxiliary functions and lemmas, which are specially designed for overcoming difficulties in the proof, we show that the solutions of the coupled systems decay to zero in a strong way under a few basic conditions. The results in this dynamic analysis of coupled systems are generalizations of many existing results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20analysis" title="dynamic analysis">dynamic analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coupled%20system" title=" coupled system"> coupled system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infinite%20memory" title=" infinite memory"> infinite memory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=damping." title=" damping."> damping.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93937/dynamic-analysis-of-differential-systems-with-infinite-memory-and-damping" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93937.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">222</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28862</span> ELectromagnetic-Thermal Coupled Analysis of PMSM with Cooling Channel</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyun-Woo%20Jun">Hyun-Woo Jun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tae-Chul%20Jeong"> Tae-Chul Jeong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huai-Cong%20Liu"> Huai-Cong Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ju%20Lee"> Ju Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The paper presents the electromagnetic-thermal flow coupled analysis of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) which has cooling channel in stator core for forced air cooling. In the proposed scheme, Laguerre polynomials are used together with an operational matrix and collocation method to obtain approximate solutions of the coupled system, so that our proposed model is converted into a system of algebraic equations which can be solved employing the Newton method. The solution profiles of the coupled system are presented graphically for different particular cases. The salient feature of the present article is finding the stability analysis of the proposed method and also the demonstration of the lower variation of solute concentrations with respect to the column length in the fractional-order system compared to the integer-order system. To show the higher efficiency, reliability, and accuracy of the proposed scheme, a comparison between the numerical results of Burger’s coupled system and its existing analytical result is reported. There are high compatibility and consistency between the approximate solution and its exact solution to a higher order of accuracy. The exhibition of error analysis for each case through tables and graphs confirms the super-linearly convergence rate of the proposed method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fractional%20coupled%20PDE" title="fractional coupled PDE">fractional coupled PDE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stability%20and%20convergence%20analysis" title=" stability and convergence analysis"> stability and convergence analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diffusion%20equation" title=" diffusion equation"> diffusion equation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laguerre%20polynomials" title=" Laguerre polynomials"> Laguerre polynomials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spectral%20method" title=" spectral method"> spectral method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125320/a-new-approach-for-solving-fractional-coupled-pdes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125320.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">145</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28859</span> Investigation for the Mechanism of Lateral-Torsional Coupled Vibration of the Propulsion Shaft in a Ship</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyungsuk%20Han">Hyungsuk Han</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soohong%20Jeon"> Soohong Jeon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chungwon%20Lee"> Chungwon Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=YongHoon%20Kim"> YongHoon Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> When a rubber mount and flexible coupling are installed on the main engine, high torsional vibration can occur. The root cause of this high torsional vibration can be attributed to the lateral-torsional coupled vibration of the shaft system. Therefore, the lateral-torsional coupled vibration is investigated numerically after approximating the shaft system to a three-degrees-of-freedom Jeffcott rotor. To verify that the high torsional vibration is caused by the lateral-torsional coupled vibration, a test unit that can simulate this lateral-torsional coupled vibration occurring in the propulsion shaft is developed. Due to the leakage inductances of these coupled inductors, the power MOSFET has the zero current switching (ZCS) condition, which results in decreased switching losses. This will substantially improve the overall efficiency of the power converter. Furthermore, employing coupled inductors has led to a higher voltage gain. From a first unitary transformation, the Hamiltonian of the complicated original system is transformed to an equal but a simple one associated with the three coupled oscillators of which masses are unity. Finally, we diagonalize the matrix representation of the transformed hamiltonian by using a unitary matrix. The diagonalized Hamiltonian is just the same as the Hamiltonian of three simple oscillators. Through these procedures, the coupled oscillatory subsystems are completely decoupled. From this uncouplement, we can develop complete dynamics of the whole system in an easy way by just examining each oscillator independently. Such a development of the mechanical theory can be done regardless of the complication of the parameters' variations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=schr%C3%B6dinger%20equation" title="schrödinger equation">schrödinger equation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hamiltonian" title=" hamiltonian"> hamiltonian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time-dependent%20three%20coupled%20oscillators" title=" time-dependent three coupled oscillators"> time-dependent three coupled oscillators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unitary%20transformation" title=" unitary transformation"> unitary transformation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157908/quantum-dynamics-for-general-time-dependent-three-coupled-oscillators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157908.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">98</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28852</span> Structural Performance Evaluation of Power Boiler for the Pressure Release Valve in Consideration of the Thermal Expansion</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young-Hun%20Lee">Young-Hun Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tae-Gwan%20Kim"> Tae-Gwan Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Kyu%20Kim"> Jong-Kyu Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young-Chul%20Park"> Young-Chul Park</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, Spring safety valve Heat - structure coupled analysis was carried out. The key point to obtain T/4 solutions is that the two OEO operate with mixed feedback, namely with negative feedback in one and positive in the other. Furthermore, the coexistence of multiple solutions provides a large degree of flexibility for tuning the frequency in the GHz range without changing any parameter. The outcomes of the will improve our understanding of the linear and nonlinear coupled behavior of thin-walled beams structures. Thin-walled beams have widespread usage in modern engineering application in both large scale structures (aeronautical structures), as well as in nano-structures (nano-tubes). Therefore, detailed knowledge in regard to the properties of coupled vibrations and buckling in these structures are of great interest in the research community. Due to the geometric complexity in the overall structure and in particular in the cross-sections it is necessary to involve computational mechanics to numerically simulate the dynamics. In using numerical computational techniques, it is not necessary to over simplify a model in order to solve the equations of motions. Computational dynamics methods produce databases of controlled resolution in time and space. These numerical databases contain information on the properties of the coupled dynamics. In order to extract the system dynamic properties and strength of coupling among the various fields of the motion, processing techniques are required. Time- Proper Orthogonal Decomposition transform is a powerful tool for processing databases for the dynamics. It will be used to study the coupled dynamics of thin-walled basic structures. These structures are ideal to form a basis for a systematic study of coupled dynamics in structures of complex geometry. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coupled%20dynamics" title="coupled dynamics">coupled dynamics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geometric%20complexity" title=" geometric complexity"> geometric complexity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=proper%20orthogonal%20decomposition%20%28POD%29" title=" proper orthogonal decomposition (POD)"> proper orthogonal decomposition (POD)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thin%20walled%20beams" title=" thin walled beams"> thin walled beams</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22175/extracting-the-coupled-dynamics-in-thin-walled-beams-from-numerical-data-bases" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22175.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">418</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28846</span> Analysis of Some Solutions to Protect the Western Tombolo of Giens</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yves%20Lacroix">Yves Lacroix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Van%20Van%20Than"> Van Van Than</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Didier%20L%C3%A9andri"> Didier Léandri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pierre%20Liardet"> Pierre Liardet</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The tombolo of Giens is located in the town of Hyères (France). Geometric nonlinear characteristics and modal parameters of nacelle strake are studied when it is under dynamic loading condition. Here, an N-S based Finite Volume solver is coupled with Finite Element (FE) based nonlinear structural solver to investigate the nonlinear characteristics of nacelle strake over a range of dynamic pressures at various phases of flight like takeoff, climb, and cruise conditions. The combination of high fidelity models for both aerodynamics and structural dynamics is used to predict the nonlinearities of strake (chine). The methodology adopted for present aeroelastic analysis is partitioned-based time domain coupled CFD and CSD solvers and it is validated by the consideration of experimental and numerical comparison of aeroelastic data for a cropped delta wing model which has a proven record. The present strake geometry is derived from theoretical formulation. The amplitude and frequency obtained from the coupled solver at various dynamic pressures is discussed, which gives a better understanding of its impact on aerodynamic design-sizing of strake. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aeroelasticity" title="aeroelasticity">aeroelasticity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=finite%20volume" title=" finite volume"> finite volume</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geometric%20nonlinearity" title=" geometric nonlinearity"> geometric nonlinearity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=limit%20cycle%20oscillations" title=" limit cycle oscillations"> limit cycle oscillations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=strake" title=" strake"> strake</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75780/aeroelastic-analysis-of-engine-nacelle-strake-considering-geometric-nonlinear-behavior" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75780.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">284</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28843</span> What Are the Problems in the Case of Analysis of Selenium by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry in Food and Food Raw Materials?</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B%C3%A9la%20Kov%C3%A1cs">Béla Kovács</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%89va%20B%C3%B3di"> Éva Bódi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farzaneh%20Garousi"> Farzaneh Garousi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Szilvia%20V%C3%A1rallyay"> Szilvia Várallyay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=D%C3%A1vid%20Andr%C3%A1si"> Dávid Andrási</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> For analysis of elements in different food, feed and food raw material samples generally a flame atomic absorption spectrometer (FAAS), a graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometer (GF-AAS), an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) and an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) are applied. All the analytical instruments have different physical and chemical interfering effects analysing food and food raw material samples. The smaller the concentration of an analyte and the larger the concentration of the matrix the larger the interfering effects. Nowadays, it is very important to analyse growingly smaller concentrations of elements. From the above analytical instruments generally the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer is capable of analysing the smallest concentration of elements. The applied ICP-MS instrument has Collision Cell Technology (CCT) also. Using CCT mode certain elements have better detection limits with 1-3 magnitudes comparing to a normal ICP-MS analytical method. The CCT mode has better detection limits mainly for analysis of selenium (arsenic, germanium, vanadium, and chromium). To elaborate an analytical method for selenium with an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer the most important interfering effects (problems) were evaluated: 1) isobaric elemental, 2) isobaric molecular, and 3) physical interferences. Analysing food and food raw material samples an other (new) interfering effect emerged in ICP-MS, namely the effect of various matrixes having different evaporation and nebulization effectiveness, moreover having different quantity of carbon content of food, feed and food raw material samples. In our research work the effect of different water-soluble compounds furthermore the effect of various quantity of carbon content (as sample matrix) were examined on changes of intensity of selenium. So finally we could find “opportunities” to decrease the error of selenium analysis. To analyse selenium in food, feed and food raw material samples, the most appropriate inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer is a quadrupole instrument applying a collision cell technique (CCT). The extent of interfering effect of carbon content depends on the type of compounds. The carbon content significantly affects the measured concentration (intensities) of Se, which can be corrected using internal standard (arsenic or tellurium). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=selenium" title="selenium">selenium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ICP-MS" title=" ICP-MS"> ICP-MS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food" title=" food"> food</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20raw%20material" title=" food raw material"> food raw material</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21313/what-are-the-problems-in-the-case-of-analysis-of-selenium-by-inductively-coupled-plasma-mass-spectrometry-in-food-and-food-raw-materials" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21313.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">508</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28842</span> Effect of Damper Combinations in Series or Parallel on Structural Response</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ajay%20Kumar%20Sinha">Ajay Kumar Sinha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sharad%20Singh"> Sharad Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anukriti%20Sinha"> Anukriti Sinha</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Passive energy dissipation method for earthquake protection of structures is undergoing developments for improved performance. Combined use of different types of damping mechanisms has shown positive results in the near past. Different supplemental damping methods like viscous damping, frictional damping and metallic damping are being combined together for optimum performance. The conventional method of connecting passive dampers to structures is a parallel connection between the damper unit and structural member. Researchers are investigating coupling effect of different types of dampers. The most popular choice among the research community is coupling of viscous dampers and frictional dampers. The series and parallel coupling of these damping units are being studied for relative performance of the coupled system on response control of structures against earthquake. In this paper an attempt has been made to couple Fluid Viscous Dampers and Frictional Dampers in series and parallel to form a single unit of damping system. The relative performance of the coupled units has been studied on three dimensional reinforced concrete framed structure. The current theories of structural dynamics in practice for viscous damping and frictional damping have been incorporated in this study. The time history analysis of the structural system with coupled damper units, uncoupled damper units as well as of structural system without any supplemental damping has been performed in this study. The investigations reported in this study show significant improved performance of coupled system. A higher natural frequency of the system outside the forcing frequency has been obtained for structural systems with coupled damper units as against the other cases. The structural response of the structure in terms of storey displacement and storey drift show significant improvement for the case with coupled damper units as against the cases with uncoupled units or without any supplemental damping. The results are promising in terms of improved response of the structure with coupled damper units. Further investigations in this regard for a comparative performance of the series and parallel coupled systems will be carried out to study the optimum behavior of these coupled systems for enhanced response control of structural systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frictional%20damping" title="frictional damping">frictional damping</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parallel%20coupling" title=" parallel coupling"> parallel coupling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response%20control" title=" response control"> response control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=series%20coupling" title=" series coupling"> series coupling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=supplemental%20damping" title=" supplemental damping"> supplemental damping</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=viscous%20damping" title=" viscous damping"> viscous damping</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81053/effect-of-damper-combinations-in-series-or-parallel-on-structural-response" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81053.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">457</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28841</span> Design of a 3-dB Directional Coupler Using Symmetric Coupled-Lines</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cem%20%C3%87inda%C5%9F">Cem Çindaş</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Serkan%20%C5%9Eim%C5%9Fek"> Serkan Şimşek</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, the study and design of a 3-dB 90° directional coupler operating in the S-band is proposed.
