/> <br /> 「正面衝突」では運転席と助手席を保護するフロントバリアの安全性を評価するため、2台の車両が正面衝突した場合をシミュレート。テストでは車両を時速35マイル(約56km)で走行させ、平らで硬いバリアに正面から衝突させます。正面衝突実験時に撮影された写真が以下で、運転席は最高評価の五つ星、助手席はひとつ下の四つ星評価となりました。<br /> </p><a アメリカでは、サイドミラーからエアバッグ、自動緊急ブレーキまで、あらゆるものの安全基準を政府当局が設けていますが、自動車メーカーは車両販売前にこれらの安全基準を満たしていると「事前承認」を受けることはありません。代わりに、自動車メーカーは安全基準に準拠していることを自社テストで「自己認証」し、NHTSAなどの規制当局は車両が販売されてから衝突安全評価を実施します。<br /> <br />
