therefore<MG1352> I beg<MG1189a> you to listen<MG191> to me patiently<MG3116>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>“So<MG3767> then<MG3767>, all<MG3956> Jews<MG2453> know<MG3609a> my way<MG981> of<MG981> life<MG981> since<MG1537> <i>my</i> youth<MG3503>, which from the beginning<MG746> was spent<MG1096> among<MG1722> my <i>own</i> nation<MG1484> and in Jerusalem<MG2414>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>since they have known<MG4267> about me for a long<MG509> time<MG509>, if<MG1437> they are willing<MG2309> to testify<MG3140>, that I lived<MG2198> <i>as</i> a Pharisee<MG5330> according<MG2596> to the strictest<MG198a> sect<MG139> of our religion<MG2356>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And now<MG3568> I am standing<MG2476> trial<MG2919> for the hope<MG1680> of the promise<MG1860> made<MG1096> by God<MG2316> to our fathers<MG3962>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span><i>the promise</i> to which<MG3739> our twelve<MG1429> tribes<MG1429> hope<MG1679> to attain<MG2658>, as they earnestly<MG1722, 1616> serve<MG3000> <i>God</i> night<MG3571> and day<MG2250>. For this<MG3739> hope<MG1680>, O king<MG935>, I am being accused<MG1458> by Jews<MG2453>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Why<MG5101> is it considered<MG2919> incredible<MG571> among<MG3844> you <i>people</i> if<MG1487> God<MG2316> raises<MG1453> the dead<MG3498>? <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>“So<MG3767> I thought<MG1380> to myself<MG1683> that I had<MG1163> to act<MG4238> in strong<MG4183> opposition<MG1727> to the name<MG3686> of Jesus<MG2424> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>of Nazareth<MG3480>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And this<MG3739> is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>just<MG2532> what<MG3739> I did<MG4160> in Jerusalem<MG2414>; not<MG2532, 5037> only<MG2532, 5037> did I lock<MG2623> up<MG2623> many<MG4183> of the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>saints<MG40> in prisons<MG5438>, after receiving<MG2983> authority<MG1849> from the chief<MG749> priests<MG749>, but<MG5037> I also<MG5037> cast<MG2702> my vote<MG5586> against<MG2702> them when they were being put<MG337> to<MG337> death<MG337>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And as I punished<MG5097> them often<MG4178> in all<MG3956> the synagogues<MG4864>, I tried to force<MG315> them to blaspheme<MG987>; and since I was extremely<MG4057> enraged<MG1693> at<MG1693> them, I kept pursuing<MG1377> them even<MG2193, 2532> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>foreign<MG1854> cities<MG4172>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>“<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>While<MG1722> so<MG3739> engaged, as I was journeying<MG4198> to Damascus<MG1154> with the authority<MG1849> and commission<MG2011> of the chief<MG749> priests<MG749>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>at midday<MG2250, 3319>, O king<MG935>, I saw<MG3708> on the way<MG3598> a light<MG5457> from heaven<MG3771>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>brighter<MG2987> than<MG5228> the sun<MG2246>, shining<MG4034> around<MG4034> me and those<MG3588> who were journeying<MG4198> with me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And when we had all<MG3956> fallen<MG2667> to the ground<MG1093>, I heard<MG191> a voice<MG5456> saying<MG3004> to me in the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>Hebrew<MG1446> dialect<MG1258>, ‘Saul<MG4549>, Saul<MG4549>, why<MG5101> are you persecuting<MG1377> Me? <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>It is hard<MG4642> for you to kick<MG2979b> against<MG4314> the goads<MG2759>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And I said<MG3004>, ‘Who<MG5101> are You, Lord<MG2962>?’ And the Lord<MG2962> said<MG3004>, ‘I am<MG1510> Jesus<MG2424> whom<MG3739> you are persecuting<MG1377>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>But get<MG450> up<MG450> and stand<MG2476> on your feet<MG4228>; for this<MG3778> <i>purpose</i> I have appeared<MG3708> to you, to appoint<MG4400> you as a servant<MG5257> and a witness<MG3144> not only<MG5037> to the things in which<MG3739> you have seen<MG3708> Me, but also<MG5037> to the things in which<MG3739> I will appear<MG3708> to you, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>rescuing<MG1807> you from the <i>Jewish</i> people<MG2992> and from the Gentiles<MG1484>, to whom<MG3739> I am sending<MG649> you, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>to open<MG455> their eyes<MG3788> so that they may turn<MG1994> from darkness<MG4655> to light<MG5457>, and from the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>power<MG1849> of Satan<MG4567> to God<MG2316>, that they may receive<MG2983> forgiveness<MG859> of sins<MG266> and an inheritance<MG2819> among<MG1722> those<MG3588> who have been sanctified<MG37> by faith<MG4102> in Me.’ <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>“For<MG3606> that<MG3606> reason<MG3606>, King<MG935> Agrippa<MG67>, I did not prove<MG1096> disobedient<MG545> to the heavenly<MG3770> vision<MG3701>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>but <i>continually</i> proclaimed<MG518> to those<MG3588> in Damascus<MG1154> first<MG4413>, and in Jerusalem<MG2414>, and <i>then</i> all<MG3956> the region<MG5561> of Judea<MG2449>, and <i>even</i> to the Gentiles<MG1484>, that they are to repent<MG3340> and turn<MG1994> to God<MG2316>, performing<MG4238> deeds<MG2041> consistent<MG514> with repentance<MG3341>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>For these<MG3778> reasons<MG1752a> <i>some</i> Jews<MG2453> seized<MG4815> me in the temple<MG2413> and tried<MG3987> to murder<MG1315a> me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>So<MG3767>, having obtained<MG5177> help<MG1947> from God<MG2316>, I stand<MG2476> to this<MG3778> day<MG2250> testifying<MG3143> both<MG5037> to small<MG3398> and great<MG3173>, stating<MG3004> nothing<MG3762> but what<MG3739> the Prophets<MG4396> and Moses<MG3475> said<MG2980> was<MG3195> going<MG3195> to<MG3195> take<MG1096> place<MG1096>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span><i>as to</i> whether<MG1487> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>Christ<MG5547> was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>to suffer<MG3805>, <i>and</i> whether<MG1487>, as first<MG4413> from the resurrection<MG386> of the dead<MG3498>, He would<MG3195> proclaim<MG2605> light<MG5457> both<MG5037> to the <i>Jewish</i> people<MG2992> and to the Gentiles<MG1484>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>While <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>Paul was stating<MG626> these<MG3778> things<MG3778> in<MG626> his defense<MG626>, Festus<MG5347> *said<MG5346> in a loud<MG3173> voice<MG5456>, “Paul<MG3972>, you are<MG3105> out<MG3105> of<MG3105> your mind<MG3105>! <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span><i>Your</i> great<MG4183> learning<MG1121> is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>driving<MG4062> you insane<MG3130>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>But Paul<MG3972> *said<MG5346>, “I am<MG3105> not insane<MG3105>, most<MG2903> excellent<MG2903> Festus<MG5347>; on<MG235> the<MG235> contrary<MG235>, I am speaking<MG669> out<MG669> <i>with</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>truthful<MG225> and rational<MG4997> words<MG4487>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>For the king<MG935> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>knows<MG1987> about<MG4012> these<MG3778> matters, and I also<MG2532> speak<MG2980> to him with confidence<MG3955>, since<MG1063> I am persuaded<MG3982> that none<MG3756, 3762> of these<MG3778> things<MG3778> escape<MG2990> his notice<MG2990>; for this<MG3778> has not been<MG1510> done<MG4238> in a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>corner<MG1137>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/26-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>King<MG935> Agrippa<MG67>, do you believe<MG4100> the Prophets<MG4396>?
