Clinical oncologists determine which treatment to use by considering a range of factors including tumour type, the site of the tumour, the stage of the disease and the patient’s general health.</p><h2>Medical Oncology</h2><p style="text-align: justify;">Medical Oncology as the term suggests deals with treatment of cancer with Chemotherapy: use of drugs to kill cancer cells, Targeted therapy: use of drugs to block the growth & progression of cancer cells by interfering with molecules involved in growth and development of cancer cells, Immunotherapy: deals with boosting body's immune system to deal with cancer and Hormonal therapy: drugs are used to block the effect of hormones that are used by cancer cells for their growth & development.</p><h2>Surgical Oncology</h2><p style="text-align: justify;">Surgical Oncology deals with the surgical treatment of cancer and tumours. It is also used to diagnose certain cancers. Surgical treatment of cancer depends on various factors such as size, type, location and stage of the tumours well as general health factors of the candidate patient. Surgical treatment is often combined with chemotherapy, radiation or hormone therapy either before or after surgery to ease the treatment process.</p><h2>Neuro-Oncology</h2><p style="text-align: justify;">Neuro-Oncology is the study of tumours of brain and spinal cord, many of which are dangerous and life threatening and mostly incurable. Diagnostic process commonly used is CT and MRI. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy is mostly used for treatment of brain tumours. Surgery in some cases is curative but malignant brain tumours have the tendency to regenerate.</p><h2>Radiotherapy</h2><p style="text-align: justify;">Radiotherapy is the utilisation of high energy radiation to damage DNA of cancer cells eventually killing them. It is very useful in treating incurable cancer, alone or in combination with chemotherapy. It reduces the size of tumour or removes any traces of it after surgery. It is given in two different ways either from outside or inside the body. Common side effects include: hair loss, soreness of skin, nausea, infertility, etc.</p><h2>Paediatric Oncology</h2><p style="text-align: justify;">Paediatric Oncology is the branch of oncology that deals with diagnosis and treatment of cancer including leukaemia, lymphomas, brain tumors, bone tumors, and solid tumors in children and teenage. Children and teens are in growing phase and they have different needs too. They are not always patient and cooperative.
