class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>Christ<MG5547>, let us press<MG5342> on to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>maturity<MG5047>, not laying<MG2598> again<MG3825> a foundation<MG2310b> of repentance<MG3341> from dead<MG3498> works<MG2041> and of faith<MG4102> toward<MG1909> God<MG2316>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>of instruction<MG1322> about <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>washings<MG909> and laying<MG1936> on<MG1936> of hands<MG5495>, and about the resurrection<MG386> of the dead<MG3498> and eternal<MG166> judgment<MG2917>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And this<MG3778> we will do<MG4160>, if<MG1437, 4007a> God<MG2316> permits<MG2010>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>For it is impossible<MG102>, in the case of those<MG3588> who have once<MG530> been enlightened<MG5461> and have tasted<MG1089> of the heavenly<MG2032> gift<MG1431> and have been<MG1096> made<MG1096> partakers<MG3353> of the Holy<MG40> Spirit<MG4151>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>and have tasted<MG1089> the good<MG2570> word<MG4487> of God<MG2316> and the powers<MG1411> of the age<MG165> to<MG3195> come<MG3195>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>and <i>then</i> have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>fallen<MG3895> away<MG3895>, to restore<MG340> them again<MG3825> to repentance<MG3341>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>since they again<MG388> crucify<MG388> to themselves<MG1438> the Son<MG5207> of God<MG2316> and put<MG3856> Him to<MG3856> open<MG3856> shame<MG3856>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>For ground<MG1093> that drinks<MG4095> the rain<MG5205> which often<MG4178> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>falls<MG2064> on it and produces<MG5088> vegetation<MG1008> useful<MG2111> to those<MG1565> for whose<MG3739> sake<MG1223> it is also<MG2532> tilled<MG1090>, receives<MG3335> a blessing<MG2129> from God<MG2316>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>but if it yields<MG1627> thorns<MG173> and thistles<MG5146>, it is worthless<MG96b> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>close<MG1451> to being cursed<MG2671>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>it ends<MG5056> up being burned<MG2740>. <p class="hdg">Better Things for You</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>But, beloved<MG27>, we are convinced<MG3982> of better<MG2909> things<MG2909> regarding<MG4012> you, and things that <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>accompany<MG2192> salvation<MG4991>, even<MG2532> though<MG1487> we are speaking<MG2980> in<MG3779> this<MG3779> way<MG3779>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>For God<MG2316> is not unjust<MG94> so as to forget<MG1950> your work<MG2041> and the love<MG26> which<MG3739> you have shown<MG1731> toward<MG1519> His name<MG3686>, by having served<MG1247> and by <i>still</i> serving<MG1247> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>saints<MG40>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And we desire<MG1937> that each<MG1538> one<MG1538> of you demonstrate<MG1731> the same<MG846> diligence<MG4710> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>so as to realize the full<MG4136> assurance<MG4136> of hope<MG1680> until<MG891> the end<MG5056>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>so<MG2443> that<MG2443> you will not be sluggish<MG3576>, but imitators<MG3402> of those<MG3588> who through<MG1223> faith<MG4102> and endurance<MG3115> inherit<MG2816> the promises<MG1860>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>For when God<MG2316> made<MG1861> the promise<MG1861> to Abraham<MG11>, since<MG1893> He could<MG2192> swear<MG3660> an<MG3660> oath<MG3660> by no<MG3762> one<MG3762> greater<MG3173>, He swore<MG3660> by Himself<MG1438>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>saying<MG3004>, “INDEED<MG1487, 3375> I WILL GREATLY<MG2127> BLESS<MG2127> YOU AND I WILL GREATLY<MG4129> MULTIPLY<MG4129> YOU.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And so<MG3779>, having patiently<MG3114> waited<MG3114>, he obtained<MG2013> the promise<MG1860>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>For people<MG444> swear<MG3660> an<MG3660> oath<MG3660> by <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>one<MG3173> greater<MG3173> <i>than themselves,</i> and with them an oath<MG3727> <i>serving</i> as confirmation<MG951> is an end<MG4009> of every<MG3956> dispute<MG485>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>In the same<MG3739> way God<MG2316>, desiring<MG1014> even<MG4053> more<MG4053> to demonstrate<MG1925> to the heirs<MG2818> of the promise<MG1860> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>the fact that His purpose<MG1012> is unchangeable<MG276>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>confirmed<MG3315> it with an oath<MG3727>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/hebrews/6-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>so<MG2443> that<MG2443> by two<MG1417> unchangeable<MG276> things<MG4229> in which<MG3739> it is impossible<MG102> for God<MG2316> to lie<MG5574>, we who have taken<MG2703> refuge<MG2703> would have<MG2192> strong<MG2478> encouragement<MG3874> to hold<MG2902> firmly<MG2902> to the hope<MG1680> set<MG4295> before<MG4295> us. <span
