The dwellings were originally designed to encourage Muslims to adopt an urban lifestyle based on local customs. However, the inhabitants transformed their dwelling into a hybrid habitation. This paper aims to prove the relevance of the design process in accordance with the local colonial context by analyzing the dwellers' appropriation process and the modification of their habitat. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=colonial%20heritage" title="colonial heritage">colonial heritage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=appropriation%20process" title=" appropriation process"> appropriation process</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=islamic%20spatial%20habit" title=" islamic spatial habit"> islamic spatial habit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=housing%20experiment" title=" housing experiment"> housing experiment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modernist%20mass%20housing" title=" modernist mass housing"> modernist mass housing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147618/colonialism-and-modernism-in-architecture-the-case-of-a-blank-page-opportunity-in-casablanka" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147618.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">128</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">25</span> Analysis of Knowledge Circulation in Digital Learning Environments: A Case Study of the MOOC &#039;Communication des Organisations&#039;</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hasna%20Mekkaoui%20Alaoui">Hasna Mekkaoui Alaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mariem%20Mekkaoui%20Alaoui"> Mariem Mekkaoui Alaoui</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In a context marked by a growing and pressing demand for online training within Moroccan universities, massive open online courses (Moocs) are undergoing constant evolution, amplified by the widespread use of digital technology and accentuated by the Coronavirus pandemic. However, despite their growing popularity and expansion, these courses are still lacking in terms of tools, enabling teachers and researchers to carry out a fine-grained analysis of the learning processes taking place within them. What's more, the circulation and sharing of knowledge within these environments is becoming increasingly important. The crucial aspect of traceability emerges here, as MOOCs record and generate traces from the most minute to the most visible. This leads us to consider traceability as a valuable approach in the field of educational research, where the trace is envisaged as a research tool in its own right. In this exploratory research project, we are looking at aspects of community knowledge sharing based on traces observed in the "Communication des organisations" Mooc. Focusing in particular on the mediating trace and its impact in identifying knowledge circulation processes in this learning space, we have mobilized the traces of video capsules as an index of knowledge circulation in the Mooc device. Our study uses a methodological approach based on thematic analysis, and although the results show that learners reproduce knowledge from different video vignettes in almost identical ways, they do not limit themselves to the knowledge provided to them. This research offers concrete perspectives for improving the dynamics of online devices, with a potentially positive impact on the quality of online university teaching. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=circulation" title="circulation">circulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=index" title=" index"> index</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20environments" title=" digital environments"> digital environments</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mediation." title=" mediation."> mediation.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trace" title=" trace"> trace</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175798/analysis-of-knowledge-circulation-in-digital-learning-environments-a-case-study-of-the-mooc-communication-des-organisations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175798.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">63</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">24</span> Efficient Hydrosilylation of Functionalized Alkenes via Heterogeneous Zinc Oxide Nanoparticle Catalysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahlam%20Chennani">Ahlam Chennani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nadia%20Anter"> Nadia Anter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelouahed%20M%C3%A9daghri%20Alaoui"> Abdelouahed Médaghri Alaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdellah%20Hannioui"> Abdellah Hannioui</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Non-precious metals such as zinc, copper, iron, and nickel are promising hydrosilylation catalysts due to their abundance, affordability, and low toxicity. This study focuses on the preparation of zinc nanoparticles using a simple, scalable method. Advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) are used to characterize these catalysts, revealing their crystal structure and morphology. ZnO nanoparticles demonstrate high efficiency and selectivity in hydrosilylation reactions, producing silylated products. These results highlight the potential of ZnO nanocatalysts for advanced chemical transformations and practical applications in various industrial fields. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoparticles" title="nanoparticles">nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrosilylation" title=" hydrosilylation"> hydrosilylation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=catalysts" title=" catalysts"> catalysts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-precious%20metal" title=" non-precious metal"> non-precious metal</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188400/efficient-hydrosilylation-of-functionalized-alkenes-via-heterogeneous-zinc-oxide-nanoparticle-catalysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188400.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">26</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">23</span> Control Law Design of a Wheeled Robot Mobile</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghania%20Zidani">Ghania Zidani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Said%20Drid"> Said Drid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Larbi%20Chrifi-Alaoui"> Larbi Chrifi-Alaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdeslam%20Benmakhlouf"> Abdeslam Benmakhlouf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Souad%20Chaouch"> Souad Chaouch</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we focus on the study for path tracking control of unicycle-type Wheeled Mobile Robots (WMR), by applying the Backstepping technic. Yet, there has been a growing acknowledgment among the research community as to the relevance of intellectual capital as a major enhancer of an organization’s well-being. Much of the research provides great support for how the IC is instrumental in determining financial and stock performances. As far as we know, this article is one of the earliest exploratory attempts to examine the intellectual capital impact on the corporate performance of the IT sector in Morocco. The purpose of this study is to verify empirically the influence of intellectual capital on firm performance. We have undertaken, over a fifteen-year period, a longitudinal (2005–2019) case study of a prominent payment-solutions company based in a developing economy with global operations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intellectual%20capital" title="intellectual capital">intellectual capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IT%20sector" title=" IT sector"> IT sector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=measuring%20intellectual%20capital" title=" measuring intellectual capital"> measuring intellectual capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modified%20value%20added%20intellectual%20capital%20coefficient" title=" modified value added intellectual capital coefficient"> modified value added intellectual capital coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morocco" title=" Morocco"> Morocco</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134648/the-invisible-asset-influence-on-corporate-performance-a-case-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134648.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">122</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">19</span> The Governance of Islamic Banks in Morocco: Meaning, Strategic Vision and Purposes Attributed to the Governance System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lalla%20Nezha%20Lakmiti">Lalla Nezha Lakmiti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelkahar%20Zahid"> Abdelkahar Zahid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Due to the setbacks on the international scene and the wave of cacophonic financial scandals affecting large international groups, the new Islamic finance industry is not immune despite its initial resistance. The purpose of this paper is to understand and analyze the meaning of the Corporate Governance (CG) concept in Moroccan Islamic banking systems with specific reference to their institutions. The research objective is to identify also the path taken and adopted by these banks recently set up in Morocco. The foundation is rooted in shari&#39;a, in particular, no stakeholder (the shareholding approach) must be harmed, and the ethical value is reflected into these parties&rsquo; behavior. We chose a qualitative method, semi-structured interviews where six managers provided answers about their banking systems. Since these respondents held a senior position (directors) within their organizations, it is felt that they are well placed and have the necessary knowledge to provide us with information to answer the questions asked. The results identified the orientation of participating banks and assessing how governance works, while determining which party is fovoured: shareholders, stakeholders or both. This study discusses the favorable condition to the harmonization of the regulations and therefore a better integration between Islamic finance and conventional ones in the economic context of Morocco. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corporate%20governance" title="corporate governance">corporate governance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Islamic%20Banks" title=" Islamic Banks"> Islamic Banks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stakeholders" title=" stakeholders"> stakeholders</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shareholders" title=" shareholders"> shareholders</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104834/the-governance-of-islamic-banks-in-morocco-meaning-strategic-vision-and-purposes-attributed-to-the-governance-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104834.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">110</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18</span> Knowledge Transfer and the Translation of Technical Texts</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Alaoui">Ahmed Alaoui</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper contributes to the ongoing debate as to the relevance of translation studies to professional practitioners. It exposes the various misconceptions permeating the links between theory and practice in the translation landscape in the Arab World. It is a thesis of this paper that specialization in translation should be redefined; taking account of the fact, that specialized knowledge alone is neither crucial nor sufficient in technical translation. It should be tested against the readability of the translated text, the appropriateness of its style and the usability of its content by end-users to carry out their intended tasks. The paper also proposes a preliminary model to establish a working link between theory and practice from the perspective of professional trainers and practitioners, calling for the latter to participate in the production of knowledge in a systematic fashion. While this proposal is driven by a rather intuitive conviction, a research line is needed to specify the methodological moves to establish the mediation strategies that would relate the components in the model of knowledge transfer proposed in this paper. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knowledge%20transfer" title="knowledge transfer">knowledge transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=misconceptions" title=" misconceptions"> misconceptions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=specialized%20texts" title=" specialized texts"> specialized texts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=translation%20theory" title=" translation theory"> translation theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=translation%20practice" title=" translation practice"> translation practice</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38233/knowledge-transfer-and-the-translation-of-technical-texts" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38233.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">17</span> Exoskeleton for Hemiplegic Patients: Mechatronic Approach to Move One Disabled Lower Limb</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alaoui%20Hamza">Alaoui Hamza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moutacalli%20Mohamed%20Tarik"> Moutacalli Mohamed Tarik</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chebak%20Ahmed"> Chebak Ahmed</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The number of people suffering from hemiplegia is growing each year. This lower limb disability affects all the aspects of their lives by taking away their autonomy. This implicates their close relatives, as well as the health system to provide the necessary care they need. The integration of exoskeletons in the medical field became a promising solution to resolve this issue. This paper presents an exoskeleton designed to help hemiplegic people get back the sensation and ability of normal walking. For this purpose, three step models have been created. The first step allows a simple forward movement of the leg. The second method is designed to overcome some obstacles in the patient path, and finally the third step model gives the patient total control over the device. Each of the control methods was designed to offer a solution to the challenges that the patients may face during the walking process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ability%20of%20normal%20walking" title="ability of normal walking">ability of normal walking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=exoskeleton" title=" exoskeleton"> exoskeleton</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hemiplegic%20patients" title=" hemiplegic patients"> hemiplegic patients</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lower%20limb%20motion-%20mechatronics" title=" lower limb motion- mechatronics"> lower limb motion- mechatronics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129650/exoskeleton-for-hemiplegic-patients-mechatronic-approach-to-move-one-disabled-lower-limb" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129650.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">153</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">16</span> Microbial Quality of Raw Camel Milk Produced in South of Morocco</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maha%20Alaoui%20Ismaili">Maha Alaoui Ismaili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bouchta%20Saidi"> Bouchta Saidi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Zahar"> Mohamed Zahar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abed%20Hamama"> Abed Hamama</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Thirty one samples of raw camel milk obtained from the region of Laâyoune (South of Morocco) were examined for their microbial quality and presence of some pathogenic bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella sp.). pH of the samples ranged from 6.31 to 6.64 and their titratable acidity had a mean value of 18.56 °Dornic. Data obtained showed a strong microbial contamination with an average total aerobic flora of 1.76 108 ufc ml-1 and a very high fecal counts: 1.82 107 ; 3.25 106 and 3.75 106 ufc.ml-1 in average for total coliforms, fecal coliforms and enterococci respectively. Yeasts and moulds were also found at average respective levels of 3.13 106 and 1.60 105 ufc.ml-1. Salmonella sp. and S. aureus was detected respectively in 13% and 30% of the milk samples. These results indicate clearly the lack of hygienic conditions of camel milk production and storage in this region. Lactic acid bacteria were found at the following average numbers: 4.25 107 ; 4.45 107 and 3.55 107 ufc.ml-1 for Lactococci, Leuconostocs and Lactobacilli respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=camel%20milk" title="camel milk">camel milk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microbial%20quality" title=" microbial quality"> microbial quality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salmonella" title=" Salmonella"> Salmonella</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Staphylococcus%20aureus" title=" Staphylococcus aureus "> Staphylococcus aureus </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31064/microbial-quality-of-raw-camel-milk-produced-in-south-of-morocco" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31064.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">471</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> The Impact of Shariah Non-Compliance Risk on Islamic Financial Institutions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ibtissam%20Mharzi%20Alaoui">Ibtissam Mharzi Alaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cam%C3%A9lia%20Sehaqui"> Camélia Sehaqui</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The success of a bank depends upon its effective risk management. With the growing complexity and diversity of financial products and services, as well as the accelerating pace of globalization over the past decade, risk management is becoming increasingly difficult. thus, all measurement and monitoring functions must be much more vigorous, relevant and adequate. The Shariah non-compliance risk is specific aspect of Islamic finance which ipso facto, deserves particular attention. It affects the validity of all Islamic financial contracts and it turns out to be likely to result in considerable losses on the overall Islamic financial institutions (IFIs). The purpose of this paper is to review the theoretical literature on Shariah non-compliance risk in order to give a clearer understanding of its sources, causes and consequences. Our intention through this work is to bring added value to the Islamic finance industry all over the world. The findings provide a useful reference work for the Islamic banks in structuring (or restructuring) of their own system of shariah risk management and internal control. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shariah%20non-compliance" title="Shariah non-compliance">Shariah non-compliance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk%20management" title=" risk management"> risk management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20products" title=" financial products"> financial products</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Islamic%20finance." title=" Islamic finance."> Islamic finance.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161077/the-impact-of-shariah-non-compliance-risk-on-islamic-financial-institutions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161077.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">88</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> Identification of Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Raw Camel Milk Produced in South of Morocco</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maha%20Alaoui%20Ismaili">Maha Alaoui Ismaili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bouchta%20Saidi"> Bouchta Saidi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Zahar"> Mohamed Zahar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abed%20Hamama"> Abed Hamama</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> 112 lactic isolates were obtained from 15 samples of camel raw milk produced in Laayoune Boujdour Sakia-El Hamra region (South of Morocco). A high order genetic algorithm structure is used to approximate a control law designed by the Backstepping technique, and to find the best parameters globally optimized. However, the Backstepping control approach is unsuitable for high performance applications because the need of a speed sensor for increased accuracy and the absence of any error decay mechanism. In this paper a nonlinear observer, obtained by combining sliding mode structure and model reference adaptive system (MRAS), is designed for the rotor flux and rotor speed estimations. To validate the proposed method, the results are presented for showing the improved drive characteristics and performances. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Backstepping%20Control" title="Backstepping Control">Backstepping Control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Induction%20Motor" title=" Induction Motor"> Induction Motor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Genetic%20Algorithm" title=" Genetic Algorithm"> Genetic Algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sliding%20Mode%20observer" title=" Sliding Mode observer"> Sliding Mode observer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23501/sliding-mode-mras-observer-for-optimized-backstepping-control-of-induction-motor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23501.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">731</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> Effect of Feed Additives, Allium sativum and Argana spinosa Oil on the Growth of Rainbow Trout Fingerlings (Oncorhynchus mykiss)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=El%20Hassan%20Abba">El Hassan Abba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Touria%20Hachi"> Touria Hachi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mhamed%20Khaffou"> Mhamed Khaffou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nezha%20El%20Adel"> Nezha El Adel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelkhalek%20Zraouti"> Abdelkhalek Zraouti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20ElIdrissi"> Hassan ElIdrissi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present study has the overall objective of studying the effect of garlic and Argan oil on the growth of Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fingerlings at the Ras El Ma (Azrou) salmon farming station during the 2023 production period. The fingerlings were distributed in seven tanks at a rate of 1000 per lot. The first control tank (B0) received only the feed without additives. Tanks B1, B2, B3, and B4 received garlic as a feed additive at a rate of 1%, 1.5%, 2% and 2.5% respectively. The fingerlings in tanks B5 and B6, in addition to 2.5% garlic, received 5 and 10ml argon oil, respectively. During this two-month experiment, the weight growth of the fingerlings and the physico-chemical parameters of the water that are favorable for fry rearing (hydrogen potential, temperature, dissolved oxygen, and electrical conductivity) were monitored. The weight growth of fingerlings receiving garlic was positive (mean weight: 4.95g, 5.43g, 5.13g, and 5.06g) compared with control fingerlings (mean weight: 3.88g). The maximum average weight was obtained with 1.5% garlic (average weight: 5.43g). The addition of 5 and 10ml of argon oil to B5 and B6 resulted in a slight increase in weight for the B5 fingerlings (5.37g) compared with the B4 control fingerlings (mean weight: 5.06g) but a minor decrease for the B6 batch (4.73g). The experimental results showed that the use of these feed additives had a positive effect on growth and yield, regardless of the quantities used. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oncorhychus%20mykiss" title="Oncorhychus mykiss">Oncorhychus mykiss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fry" title=" fry"> fry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=feed%20additive" title=" feed additive"> feed additive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=garlic" title=" garlic"> garlic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=argon%20oil" title=" argon oil"> argon oil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=weight%20growth" title=" weight growth"> weight growth</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175461/effect-of-feed-additives-allium-sativum-and-argana-spinosa-oil-on-the-growth-of-rainbow-trout-fingerlings-oncorhynchus-mykiss" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175461.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">91</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Genotyping of G/P No Typable Group a Rotavirus Strains Revealed G2 and G9 Genotype Circulations in Moroccan Children Fully Vaccinated with Rotarix™</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Boulahyaoui">H. All viruses replicated and caused extensive cytopathic effects after four or five passages in MA104 cell lines. Significant improvements have been obtained in the amount of viral particles. Each virus multiplied to a high titer (7.5 TCID50/ml). VP7 and VP4 partial gene sequencing revealed distinct genotypes compared to the Rotarix(®) vaccine strain. Among them, the methylparaben (MP) is the most frequently used ingredient in cosmetic preparations. Nevertheless, their potential dangers led to the development of sensible and reliable methods for their determination in environmental samples. Firstly, a sensitive and selective molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) based on screen-printed gold electrode (Au-SPE), assembled on a polymeric layer of carboxylated poly(vinyl-chloride) (PVC-COOH), was developed. After the template removal, the obtained material was able to rebind MP and discriminate it among other interfering species such as glucose, sucrose, and citric acid. The behavior of molecular imprinted sensor was characterized by Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. Then, the biosensor was found to have a linear detection range from 0.1 pg.mL-1 to 1 ng.mL-1 and a low limit of detection of 0.12 fg.mL-1 and 5.18 pg.mL-1 by DPV and EIS, respectively. For applications, this biosensor was employed to determine MP content in four wastewaters in Meknes city and two cosmetic products (shower gel and shampoo). The operational reproducibility and stability of this biosensor were also studied. Secondly, another MIP biosensor based on tungsten trioxide (WO3) functionalized by gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) assembled on a polymeric layer of PVC-COOH was developed. The main goal was to increase the sensitivity of the biosensor. The developed MIP biosensor was successfully applied for the MP determination in wastewater samples and cosmetic products. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cosmetic%20products" title="cosmetic products">cosmetic products</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=methylparaben" title=" methylparaben"> methylparaben</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=molecularly%20imprinted%20polymer" title=" molecularly imprinted polymer"> molecularly imprinted polymer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wastewater" title=" wastewater"> wastewater</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65699/a-sensitive-approach-on-trace-analysis-of-methylparaben-in-wastewater-and-cosmetic-products-using-molecularly-imprinted-polymer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65699.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">319</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Cadmium Concentrations in Breast Milk and Factors of Exposition: Systematic Review</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abha%20Cherkani%20Hassani">Abha Cherkani Hassani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Imane%20Ghanname"> Imane Ghanname</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nezha%20Mouane"> Nezha Mouane</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: This is the first systematic review summarizing 43 years of research from 36 countries in the assessment of cadmium in breast milk; a suitable matrix in human biomonitoring. Objectives: To report from the published literature the levels of cadmium in breast milk and the affecting factors causing the increase of cadmium concentrations; also to gather several quantitative data which might be useful to evaluate the international degrees of maternal and infant exposure. Methods: We reviewed the literature for studies reporting quantitative data about cadmium levels in human breast milk in the world that have been published between 1971 and 2014 and that are available on Pubmed, Science direct and Google scholar. The aim of the study, country, period of samples collection, size of samples, sampling method, time of lactation, mother’s age, area of residence, cadmium concentration and other information were extracted. Results: 67 studies were selected and included in this systematic review. Some concentrations greatly exceed the limit of the WHO, However about 50% of the studies had less than 1 µg/l cadmium concentration (the recommendation of the WHO); as well many factors have shown their implication in breast milk contamination by Cadmium as lactation stage, smoking, diet, supplement intake, interaction with other mineral elements, age of mothers, parity and other parameters. Conclusion: Breast milk is a pathway of maternal excretion of cadmium. It is also a biological indicator of the degree of environmental pollution and cadmium exposure of the lactating women and the nourished infant. Therefore preventive measures and continuous monitoring are necessary. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=breast%20milk" title="breast milk">breast milk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cadmium%20level" title=" cadmium level"> cadmium level</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=factors" title=" factors"> factors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systematic%20review" title=" systematic review"> systematic review</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36088/cadmium-concentrations-in-breast-milk-and-factors-of-exposition-systematic-review" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36088.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">524</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Landslide Susceptibility Mapping: A Comparison between Logistic Regression and Multivariate Adaptive Regression Spline Models in the Municipality of Oudka, Northern of Morocco</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Benchelha">S. From spatial database containing data such as landslide mapping, topography, soil, hydrology and lithology, the eight factors related to landslides such as elevation, slope, aspect, distance to streams, distance to road, distance to faults, lithology map and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) were calculated or extracted. Using these factors, landslide susceptibility indexes were calculated by the two mentioned methods. Before the calculation, this database was divided into two parts, the first for the formation of the model and the second for the validation. The results of the landslide susceptibility analysis were verified using success and prediction rates to evaluate the quality of these probabilistic models. The result of this verification was that the MarSpline model is the best model with a success rate (AUC = 0.963) and a prediction rate (AUC = 0.951) higher than the LR model (success rate AUC = 0.918, rate prediction AUC = 0.901). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=landslide%20susceptibility%20mapping" title="landslide susceptibility mapping">landslide susceptibility mapping</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=regression%20logistic" title=" regression logistic"> regression logistic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multivariate%20adaptive%20regression%20spline" title=" multivariate adaptive regression spline"> multivariate adaptive regression spline</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oudka" title=" Oudka"> Oudka</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Taounate" title=" Taounate"> Taounate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107250/landslide-susceptibility-mapping-a-comparison-between-logistic-regression-and-multivariate-adaptive-regression-spline-models-in-the-municipality-of-oudka-northern-of-morocco" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107250.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">188</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> Synthesis of Highly Sensitive Molecular Imprinted Sensor for Selective Determination of Doxycycline in Honey Samples</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nadia%20El%20Alami%20El%20Hassani">Nadia El Alami El Hassani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soukaina%20Motia"> Soukaina Motia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Benachir%20Bouchikhi"> Benachir Bouchikhi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nezha%20El%20Bari"> Nezha El Bari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Doxycycline (DXy) is a cycline antibiotic, most frequently prescribed to treat bacterial infections in veterinary medicine. However, its broad antimicrobial activity and low cost, lead to an intensive use, which can seriously affect human health. Therefore, its spread in the food products has to be monitored. The scope of this work was to synthetize a sensitive and very selective molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for DXy detection in honey samples. Firstly, the synthesis of this biosensor was performed by casting a layer of carboxylate polyvinyl chloride (PVC-COOH) on the working surface of a gold screen-printed electrode (Au-SPE) in order to bind covalently the analyte under mild conditions. Secondly, DXy as a template molecule was bounded to the activated carboxylic groups, and the formation of MIP was performed by a biocompatible polymer by the mean of polyacrylamide matrix. Then, DXy was detected by measurements of differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). A non-imprinted polymer (NIP) prepared in the same conditions and without the use of template molecule was also performed. We have noticed that the elaborated biosensor exhibits a high sensitivity and a linear behavior between the regenerated current and the logarithmic concentrations of DXy from 0.1 pg.mL&minus;1 to 1000 pg.mL&minus;1. This technic was successfully applied to determine DXy residues in honey samples with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 pg.mL&minus;1 and an excellent selectivity when compared to the results of oxytetracycline (OXy) as analogous interfering compound. The proposed method is cheap, sensitive, selective, simple, and is applied successfully to detect DXy in honey with the recoveries of 87% and 95%. Considering these advantages, this system provides a further perspective for food quality control in industrial fields. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=doxycycline" title="doxycycline">doxycycline</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrochemical%20sensor" title=" electrochemical sensor"> electrochemical sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20control" title=" food control"> food control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gold%20nanoparticles" title=" gold nanoparticles"> gold nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=honey" title=" honey"> honey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=molecular%20imprinted%20polymer" title=" molecular imprinted polymer"> molecular imprinted polymer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65683/synthesis-of-highly-sensitive-molecular-imprinted-sensor-for-selective-determination-of-doxycycline-in-honey-samples" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65683.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">316</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Mycorrhizal Autochthonous Consortium Induced Defense-Related Mechanisms of Olive Trees against Verticillium dahliae</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hanane%20Boutaj">Hanane Boutaj</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelilah%20Meddich"> Abdelilah Meddich</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Said%20Wahbi"> Said Wahbi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zainab%20El%20Alaoui-Talibi"> Zainab El Alaoui-Talibi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Allal%20Douira"> Allal Douira</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelkarim%20Filali-Maltouf"> Abdelkarim Filali-Maltouf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cherkaoui%20El%20Modafar"> Cherkaoui El Modafar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present work aims to investigate the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in improving the olive tree resistance to Verticillium wilt caused by Verticillium dahliae. Inoculated plants with a mycorrhizal autochthonous consortium 'Rhizolive consortium' and pure strain 'Glomus irregulare' were infected after three months with V. dahliae. The improving of olive tree resistance was determined through disease severity, incidence, and defoliation. On the other hand, the defense mechanisms of olive plants were evaluated through lignin content, phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) activity, and polyphenol content. The results revealed that both AMF significantly (p < 0.05) reduced disease development and the rate of defoliation in infected olive plants. Moreover, the contents of lignin were boosted after mycorrhizal inoculation in both the roots and the stems of olive plants, which remained significantly (p < 0.001) higher after the 90th days of V. dahliae inoculation. PAL activity was increased after V. dahliae inoculation in the stems of 'Rhizolive consortium' treatment that were 17 times higher than those in the roots of olive plants. The polyphenol content in the stems was about twice higher than those in the roots. The reduction of disease severity was accompanied by increased levels of lignin content, PAL activity, and polyphenol content, particularly in the stems of olive plants, indicating the strengthening of the olive plant immune system against V. dahliae. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=olive%20tree" title="olive tree">olive tree</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mycorrhizal%20autochthonous%20consortium" title=" Mycorrhizal autochthonous consortium"> Mycorrhizal autochthonous consortium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Glomus%20irregulare" title=" Glomus irregulare"> Glomus irregulare</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Verticillium%20dahliae" title=" Verticillium dahliae"> Verticillium dahliae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=defense%20mechanisms" title=" defense mechanisms"> defense mechanisms</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/113552/mycorrhizal-autochthonous-consortium-induced-defense-related-mechanisms-of-olive-trees-against-verticillium-dahliae" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/113552.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">117</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Study of Ageing in the Marine Environment of Bonded Composite Structures by Ultrasonic Guided Waves. This study is being developed within the framework of the European Interreg TIGER project. The Tidal Stream Industry Energiser Project, known as TIGER, is the biggest ever Interreg project driving collaboration and cost reductionthrough tidal turbine installations in the UK and France. The TIGER project will drive the growth of tidal stream energy to become a greater part of the energy mix, with significant benefits for coastal communities. In the bay of Paimpol-Bréhat (Brittany), different samples of composite material and bonded composite/composite structures have been immersed at the same time near a turbine. The studied samples are either conventional carbon-epoxy composite samples or composite samples based on a recyclable resin (called recyclamine). One of the objectives of the study is to compare the ageing of the two types of structure. A sample of each structure is picked up every 3 to 6 months and analyzed using ultrasonic guided waves and bulk waves and compared to reference samples. In order to classify the damage level as a function of time spent under the sea, the measure have been compared to a rheological model based on the Finite Elements Method (FEM). Ageing of the composite material, as well as that of the adhesive, is identified. The aim is to improve the quality of the turbine blade structure in terms of longevity and reduced maintenance needs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-destructive%20testing" title="non-destructive testing">non-destructive testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultrasound" title=" ultrasound"> ultrasound</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composites" title=" composites"> composites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=guides%20waves" title=" guides waves"> guides waves</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141396/study-of-ageing-in-the-marine-environment-of-bonded-composite-structures-by-ultrasonic-guided-waves-comparison-of-the-case-of-a-conventional-carbon-epoxy-composite-and-a-recyclable-resin-based-composite" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141396.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">220</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Biochemical and Pomological Variability among 14 Moroccan and Foreign Cultivars of Prunus dulcis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Hanine">H. Almond samples from six local and eight foreign cultivars (France, Italy, Spain, and USA) were characterized. Biochemical and pomological data revealed significant genetic variability among the 14 cultivars; local cultivars exhibited higher total polyphenol content. Oil content ranged from 35 to 57% among cultivars; both Texas and Toundout genotypes recorded the highest oil content. Total protein concentration from select cultivars ranged from 50 mg/g in Ferraduel to 105 mg/g in Rizlane1 cultivars. Antioxidant activity of almond samples was examined by a DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical-scavenging assay; the antioxidant activity varied significantly within the cultivars, with IC50 (the half-maximal inhibitory concentration) values ranging from 2.25 to 20 mg/ml. Autochthonous cultivars originated from the Oujda region exhibited higher tegument total polyphenol and amino acid content compared to others. The genotype Rizlane2 recorded the highest flavonoid content. Pomological traits revealed a large variability within the almond germplasms. The hierarchical clustering analysis of all the data regarding pomological traits distinguished two groups with some particular genotypes as distinct cultivars, and groups of cultivars as polyclone varieties. These results strongly exhibit a potential use of Moroccan-originated almonds as potential clones for future selection due to their nutritional values and pomological traits compared to well-established cultivars. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antioxidant%20activity" title="antioxidant activity">antioxidant activity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DDPH" title=" DDPH"> DDPH</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moroccan%20almonds" title=" Moroccan almonds"> Moroccan almonds</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prunus%20dulcis" title=" Prunus dulcis"> Prunus dulcis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13640/biochemical-and-pomological-variability-among-14-moroccan-and-foreign-cultivars-of-prunus-dulcis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13640.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">242</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Investigating Reading Comprehension Proficiency and Self-Efficacy among Algerian EFL Students within Collaborative Strategic Reading Approach and Attributional Feedback Intervention </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nezha%20Badi">Nezha Badi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> It has been shown in the literature that Algerian university students suffer from low levels of reading comprehension proficiency, which hinder their overall proficiency in English. This low level is mainly related to the methodology of teaching reading which is employed by the teacher in the classroom (a teacher-centered environment), as well as students’ poor sense of self-efficacy to undertake reading comprehension activities. Arguably, what is needed is an approach necessary for enhancing students’ self-beliefs about their abilities to deal with different reading comprehension activities. This can be done by providing them with opportunities to take responsibility for their own learning (learners’ autonomy). As a result of learning autonomy, learners’ beliefs about their abilities to deal with certain language tasks may increase, and hence, their language learning ability. Therefore, this experimental research study attempts to assess the extent to which an integrated approach combining one particular reading approach known as ‘collaborative strategic reading’ (CSR), and teacher’s attributional feedback (on students’ reading performance and strategy use) can improve the reading comprehension skill and the sense of self-efficacy of EFL Algerian university students. It also seeks to examine students’ main reasons for their successful or unsuccessful achievements in reading comprehension activities, and whether students’ attributions for their reading comprehension outcomes can be modified after exposure to the instruction. To obtain the data, different tools including a reading comprehension test, questionnaires, an observation, an interview, and learning logs were used with 105 second year Algerian EFL university students. The sample of the study was divided into three groups; one control group (with no treatment), one experimental group (CSR group) who received a CSR instruction, and a second intervention group (CSR Plus group) who received teacher’s attribution feedback in addition to the CSR intervention. Students in the CSR Plus group received the same experiment as the CSR group using the same tools, except that they were asked to keep learning logs, for which teacher’s feedback on reading performance and strategy use was provided. The results of this study indicate that the CSR and the attributional feedback intervention was effective in improving students’ reading comprehension proficiency and sense of self-efficacy. However, there was not a significant change in students’ adaptive and maladaptive attributions for their success and failure d from the pre-test to the post-test phase. Analysis of the perception questionnaire, the interview, and the learning logs shows that students have positive perceptions about the CSR and the attributional feedback instruction. Based on the findings, this study, therefore, seeks to provide EFL teachers in general and Algerian EFL university teachers in particular with pedagogical implications on how to teach reading comprehension to their students to help them achieve well and feel more self-efficacious in reading comprehension activities, and in English language learning more generally. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attributions" title="attributions">attributions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attributional%20feedback" title=" attributional feedback"> attributional feedback</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collaborative%20strategic%20reading" title=" collaborative strategic reading"> collaborative strategic reading</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-efficacy" title=" self-efficacy"> self-efficacy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97333/investigating-reading-comprehension-proficiency-and-self-efficacy-among-algerian-efl-students-within-collaborative-strategic-reading-approach-and-attributional-feedback-intervention" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97333.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">119</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Evidence for Replication of an Unusual G8P[14] Human Rotavirus Strain in the Feces of an Alpine Goat: Zoonotic Transmission from Caprine Species</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amine%20Alaoui%20Sanae">Amine Alaoui Sanae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tagjdid%20Reda"> Tagjdid Reda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Loutfi%20Chafiqa"> Loutfi Chafiqa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Melloul%20Merouane"> Melloul Merouane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laloui%20Aziz"> Laloui Aziz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Touil%20Nadia"> Touil Nadia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=El%20Fahim"> El Fahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=E.%20Mostafa"> E. However, these strains have been reported globally in humans and have often been characterized as originating from zoonotic transmissions, particularly in area where ruminants and humans live side-by-side. Whether human P[14] genotypes are two-way and can be transmitted to animal species remains to be established. Here we describe VP4 deduced amino-acid relationships of three Moroccan P[14] genotypes originating from different species and the receptiveness of an alpine goat to a human G8P[14] through an experimental infection. Material/methods: the human MA31 RVA strain was originally identified in a four years old girl presenting an acute gastroenteritis hospitalized at the pediatric care unit in Rabat Hospital in 2011. The virus was isolated and propagated in MA104 cells in the presence of trypsin. Ch_10S and 8045_S animal RVA strains were identified in fecal samples of a 2-week-old native goat and 3-week-old calf with diarrhea in 2011 in Bouaarfa and My Bousselham respectively. Genomic RNAs of all strains were subjected to a two-step RT-PCR and sequenced using the consensus primers VP4. The phylogenetic tree for MA31, Ch_10S and 8045_S VP4 and a set of published P[14] genotypes was constructed using MEGA6 software. The receptivity of MA31 strain by an eight month-old alpine goat was assayed. The animal was orally and intraperitonally inoculated with a dose of 8.5 TCID50 of virus stock at passage level 3. The shedding of the virus was tested by a real time RT-PCR assay. Results: The phylogenetic tree showed that the three Moroccan strains MA31, Ch_10S and 8045_S VP4 were highly related to each other (100% similar at the nucleotide level). They were clustered together with the B10925, Sp813, PA77 and P169 strains isolated in Belgium, Spain and Italy respectively. The Belgian strain B10925 was the most closely related to the Moroccan strains. In contrast, the 8045_S and Ch_10S strains were clustered distantly from the Tunisian calf strain B137 and the goat strain cap455 isolated in South Africa respectively. The human MA31 RVA strain was able to induce bloody diarrhea at 2 days post infection (dpi) in the alpine goat kid. RVA virus shedding started by 2 dpi (Ct value of 28) and continued until 5 dpi (Ct value of 25) with a concomitant elevation in the body temperature. Conclusions: Our study while limited to one animal, is the first study proving experimentally that a human P[14] genotype causes diarrhea and virus shedding in the goat. This result reinforce the potential role of inter- species transmission in generating novel and rare rotavirus strains such G8P[14] which infect humans. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interspecies%20transmission" title="interspecies transmission">interspecies transmission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rotavirus" title=" rotavirus"> rotavirus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=goat" title=" goat"> goat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human" title=" human"> human</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43233/evidence-for-replication-of-an-unusual-g8p14-human-rotavirus-strain-in-the-feces-of-an-alpine-goat-zoonotic-transmission-from-caprine-species" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43233.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">290</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Robust Control of Traction Motors based Electric Vehicles by Means of High-Gain</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Mekki">H. However, since EV motors are easily influenced by un-certainties parameter variations and external load disturbance, both robust control techniques have received considerable attention during the past few decades. This paper present a robust controller design based sliding mode control (SMC) and high gain flux observer (HGO) for induction motor (IM) based Electric Vehicles (EV) drives. This control technique is obtained by the combination between the field oriented and the sliding mode control strategy and present remarkable dynamic performances just as a good robustness with respect to EV drives load torque. A high gain flux observer is also presented and associated in order to design sensorless control by estimating the rotor flux only using measurements of the stator voltages and currents.
