The data of this qualitative study were collected through in-depth interviews with nine key informants. The results of the study revealed that the existence of the field corn networks was associated with the relationship where farmers had to share their crops with protectors in the areas under the influence of the KNU (Karen National Union) and the DKBA (Democratic Karen Buddhist Army) or Burmese soldiers. A Mae Liang, the person who starts a network has a connection with a Thaokae, Luk Rai Hua Chai or the head of a group of farmers, and farmers. They are under the patron-client system with trust and loyalty that enable the head of the group and the farmers in the Burma border side to remain under the same Mae Liang even though the business has been passed down to later generations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=existence" title="existence">existence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=field-corn%20networks" title=" field-corn networks"> field-corn networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=patron-client%20system" title=" patron-client system"> patron-client system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contract%20farming" title=" contract farming"> contract farming</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3431/the-existence-of-field-corn-networks-on-the-thailand-burma-border-under-the-patron-client-contract-farming-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3431.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">270</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">250</span> Sensitivity and Uncertainty Analysis of One Dimensional Shape Memory Alloy Constitutive Models</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20B.%20M.%20Rezaul%20Islam">A. Their thermomechanical behaviors are modeled by numerous researchers using microscopic thermodynamic and macroscopic phenomenological point of view. Tanaka, Liang-Rogers and Ivshin-Pence models are some of the most popular SMA macroscopic phenomenological constitutive models. They describe SMA behavior in terms of stress, strain and temperature. These models involve material parameters and they have associated uncertainty present in them. At different operating temperatures, the uncertainty propagates to the output when the material is subjected to loading followed by unloading. The propagation of uncertainty while utilizing these models in real-life application can result in performance discrepancies or failure at extreme conditions. To resolve this, we used probabilistic approach to perform the sensitivity and uncertainty analysis of Tanaka, Liang-Rogers, and Ivshin-Pence models. Sobol and extended Fourier Amplitude Sensitivity Testing (eFAST) methods have been used to perform the sensitivity analysis for simulated isothermal loading/unloading at various operating temperatures. As per the results, it is evident that the models vary due to the change in operating temperature and loading condition. The average and stress-dependent sensitivity indices present the most significant parameters at several temperatures. This work highlights the sensitivity and uncertainty analysis results and shows comparison of them at different temperatures and loading conditions for all these models. The analysis presented will aid in designing engineering applications by eliminating the probability of model failure due to the uncertainty in the input parameters. Thus, it is recommended to have a proper understanding of sensitive parameters and the uncertainty propagation at several operating temperatures and loading conditions as per Tanaka, Liang-Rogers, and Ivshin-Pence model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=constitutive%20models" title="constitutive models">constitutive models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FAST%20sensitivity%20analysis" title=" FAST sensitivity analysis"> FAST sensitivity analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sensitivity%20analysis" title=" sensitivity analysis"> sensitivity analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sobol" title=" sobol"> sobol</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shape%20memory%20alloy" title=" shape memory alloy"> shape memory alloy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uncertainty%20analysis" title=" uncertainty analysis"> uncertainty analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/117933/sensitivity-and-uncertainty-analysis-of-one-dimensional-shape-memory-alloy-constitutive-models" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/117933.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">144</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">249</span> Physicochemical and Antioxidative Characteristics of Black Bean Protein Hydrolysates Obtained from Different Enzymes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhaojun%20Zheng">Zhaojun Zheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuanfa%20Liu"> Yuanfa Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiaxin%20Li"> Jiaxin Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jinwei%20Li"> Jinwei Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yong-jiang%20Xu"> Yong-jiang Xu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20Cao"> Chen Cao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Black bean is an excellent protein source for preparing hydrolysates, which attract much attention due to their biological activity. The objective of this study was to characterize the physicochemical and antioxidant properties of black bean protein, hydrolyzed by ficin, bromelain or alcalase until 300 min of hydrolysis. Results showed that bromelain and alcalase hydrolysates possessed a higher degree of hydrolysis (DH) than that of ficin, thereby presenting different ultraviolet absorption, fluorescence intensity, and circular dichroism. Moreover, all hydrolysates possessed the capacity to scavenge DPPH radical with the lowest IC₅₀ of 21.11 µg/mL, as well as to chelate ferrous ion (Fe²⁺) with the IC₅₀ values ranging from 6.82 to 30.68 µg/mL. Intriguingly, the oxidation of linoleic acid, sunflower oil, and sunflower oil-in-water emulsion was remarkedly retarded by the three selected protein hydrolysates, especially by bromelain-treated protein hydrolysate, which might attribute to their high hydrophobicity and emulsifying properties. These findings can provide strong support for black bean protein hydrolysates to be employed in food products acting as natural antioxidant alternatives. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antioxidant%20activity" title="antioxidant activity">antioxidant activity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=black%20bean%20protein%20hydrolysate" title=" black bean protein hydrolysate"> black bean protein hydrolysate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emulsion%20physicochemical%20properties" title=" emulsion physicochemical properties"> emulsion physicochemical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sunflower%20oil" title=" sunflower oil"> sunflower oil</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105885/physicochemical-and-antioxidative-characteristics-of-black-bean-protein-hydrolysates-obtained-from-different-enzymes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105885.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">248</span> UCP1 Regulates Cardiolipin Metabolism and Mediates Mitochondrial Homeostasis Maintenance of ANXA1 in Diabetic Nephropathy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zi-Han%20Li">Zi-Han Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lu%20Fang"> Lu Fang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liang%20Wu"> Liang Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dong-Yuan%20Chang"> Dong-Yuan Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manyuan%20Dong"> Manyuan Dong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liang%20Ji"> Liang Ji</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qi%20Zhang"> Qi Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Hui%20Zhao"> Ming-Hui Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sydney%20C.%20W.%20Tang"> Sydney C. Limited samples often lead to overfitting due to biased sample distribution. This paper introduces a dynamic distribution calibration method for few-shot learning. Initially, base and new class samples undergo normalization to mitigate disparate feature magnitudes. A pre-trained model then extracts feature vectors from both classes. The method dynamically selects distribution characteristics from base classes (both adjacent and remote) in the embedding space, using a threshold value approach for new class samples. Given the propensity of similar classes to share feature distributions like mean and variance, this research assumes a Gaussian distribution for feature vectors. Subsequently, distributional features of new class samples are calibrated using a corrected hyperparameter, derived from the distribution features of both adjacent and distant base classes. This calibration augments the new class sample set. The technique demonstrates significant improvements, with up to 4% accuracy gains in few-shot classification challenges, as evidenced by tests on miniImagenet and CUB datasets. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20learning" title="deep learning">deep learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computer%20vision" title=" computer vision"> computer vision</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20classification" title=" image classification"> image classification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=few-shot%20learning" title=" few-shot learning"> few-shot learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=threshold" title=" threshold"> threshold</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182071/dynamic-distribution-calibration-for-improved-few-shot-image-classification" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182071.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">67</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">245</span> Explore Urban Spatial Density with Boltzmann Statistical Distribution</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jianjia%20Wang">Jianjia Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tong%20Yu"> Tong Yu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haoran%20Zhu"> Haoran Zhu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kun%20Liu"> Kun Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jinwei%20Hao"> Jinwei Hao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The underlying pattern in the modern city is agglomeration. To some degree, the distribution of urban spatial density can be used to describe the status of this assemblage. There are three intrinsic characteristics to measure urban spatial density, namely, Floor Area Ratio (FAR), Building Coverage Ratio (BCR), and Average Storeys (AS). But the underlying mechanism that contributes to these quantities is still vague in the statistical urban study. In this paper, we explore the corresponding extrinsic factors related to spatial density. These factors can further provide the potential influence on the intrinsic quantities. Here, we take Shanghai Inner Ring Area and Manhattan in New York as examples to analyse the potential impacts on urban spatial density with six selected extrinsic elements. Ebery single factor presents the correlation to the spatial distribution, but the overall global impact of all is still implicit. To handle this issue, we attempt to develop the Boltzmann statistical model to explicitly explain the mechanism behind that. We derive a corresponding novel quantity, called capacity, to measure the global effects of all other extrinsic factors to the three intrinsic characteristics. The distribution of capacity presents a similar pattern to real measurements. This reveals the nonlinear influence on the multi-factor relations to the urban spatial density in agglomeration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20spatial%20density" title="urban spatial density">urban spatial density</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boltzmann%20statistics" title=" Boltzmann statistics"> Boltzmann statistics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-factor%20correlation" title=" multi-factor correlation"> multi-factor correlation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20distribution" title=" spatial distribution"> spatial distribution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148943/explore-urban-spatial-density-with-boltzmann-statistical-distribution" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148943.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">150</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">244</span> The Microstructure of Aging ZnO, AZO, and GZO Films</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zue%20Chin%20Chang">Zue Chin Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Chang%20Liang"> Shih-Chang Liang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> RF magnetron sputtering is used on the ceramic targets, each of which contains zinc oxide (ZnO), zinc oxide doped with aluminum (AZO) and zinc oxide doped with gallium (GZO). After extensive literature study and field research, it was found that there are a few risk assessment methods for coal mined gob pipelines, and there is a lack of data on the gob sites. Therefore, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is widely used based on expert opinions. However, the subjective opinions or lack of experience of individual experts may lead to inaccurate evaluation results. Hence the accuracy of the results needs to be further improved. This paper presents a comprehensive approach to achieve this purpose by combining bow-tie model and cloud inference. The specific evaluation process is as follows: First, a bow-tie model composed of a fault tree and an event tree is established to graphically illustrate the probability and consequence indicators of pipeline failure. Second, the interval estimation method can be scored in the form of intervals to improve the accuracy of the results, and the censored mean algorithm is used to remove the maximum and minimum values of the score to improve the stability of the results. The golden section method is used to determine the weight of the indicators and reduce the subjectivity of index weights. Third, the failure probability and failure consequence scores of the pipeline are converted into three numerical features by using cloud inference. The cloud inference can better describe the ambiguity and volatility of the results which can better describe the volatility of the risk level. Finally, the cloud drop graphs of failure probability and failure consequences can be expressed, which intuitively and accurately illustrate the ambiguity and randomness of the results. A case study of a coal mine gob pipeline carrying natural gas has been investigated to validate the utility of the proposed method. The evaluation results of this case show that the probability of failure of the pipeline is very low, the consequences of failure are more serious, which is consistent with the reality. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bow-tie%20model" title="bow-tie model">bow-tie model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20gas%20pipeline" title=" natural gas pipeline"> natural gas pipeline</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coal%20mine%20gob" title=" coal mine gob"> coal mine gob</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud%20inference" title=" cloud inference"> cloud inference</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98476/risk-assessment-of-natural-gas-pipelines-in-coal-mined-gobs-based-on-bow-tie-model-and-cloud-inference" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98476.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">250</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">241</span> The Antitumor Activity of Eu (III) and Er (III) Complexes of 3 - (1H-Benzimidazol-2-Yl) - 6 - Methyl - 2 (1H) - Quinolinone</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xing%20Lu">Xing Lu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-ming%20Wu"> Yi-ming Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yan-hong%20Zhu"> Yan-hong Zhu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhen-feng%20Chen"> Zhen-feng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hong%20Liang"> Hong Liang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yan%20Peng"> Yan Peng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> [Eu(BMQ)2(NO3)3(CH3OH)(H2O)] (1),and [Er(BMQ)2(NO3)3(CH3OH)(H2O)] (2),were synthesized. Unlike previous investigations, a three-dimensional numerical model for the wave-induced soil response around an offshore pipeline is proposed in this paper. The numerical model was first validated with 2-D experimental data available in the literature. Then, a parametric study will be carried out to examine the effects of wave, seabed characteristics and confirmation of pipeline. Numerical examples demonstrate significant influence of wave obliquity on the wave-induced pore pressures and the resultant seabed liquefaction around the pipeline, which cannot be observed in 2-D numerical simulation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pore%20pressure" title="pore pressure">pore pressure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3D%20wave%20model" title=" 3D wave model"> 3D wave model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seabed%20liquefaction" title=" seabed liquefaction"> seabed liquefaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pipeline" title=" pipeline"> pipeline</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76992/3-d-numerical-model-for-wave-induced-seabed-response-around-an-offshore-pipeline" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76992.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">373</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">233</span> Video Sharing System Based On Wi-fi Camera</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qidi%20Lin">Qidi Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jinbin%20Huang"> Jinbin Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Weile%20Liang"> Weile Liang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper introduces a video sharing platform based on WiFi, which consists of camera, mobile phone and PC server. Such coupled systems are good mathematical models to describe the deformation and stress characteristics of some viscoelastic materials affected by temperature change, external forces, and other factors. By using the theory of operator semigroups, we give wellposedness results for the Cauchy problem for these coupled systems. Then, with the help of some auxiliary functions and lemmas, which are specially designed for overcoming difficulties in the proof, we show that the solutions of the coupled systems decay to zero in a strong way under a few basic conditions. Through this survey, we have been able to distill some lessons of what is good, bad, and ugly about some current examples of media displays used in a city that is transitioning into becoming a modern one and one that is located in one of the fastest growing areas in Asia. With this research, we hope that we can provide technology designers and architects with some general principles that can help them integrate these types of technologies into their architectural creations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=large%20displays" title="large displays">large displays</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=media%20fa%C3%A7ades" title=" media façades"> media façades</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interaction%20design" title=" interaction design"> interaction design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=architectural%20displays" title=" architectural displays"> architectural displays</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10362/media-facades-in-the-wild-some-lessons" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10362.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">402</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">223</span> Designing Directed Network with Optimal Controllability</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liang%20Bai">Liang Bai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yandong%20Xiao"> Yandong Xiao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haorang%20Wang"> Haorang Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Songyang%20Lao"> Songyang Lao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The directedness of links is crucial to determine the controllability in complex networks. Even the edge directions can determine the controllability of complex networks. Obviously, for a given network, we wish to design its edge directions that make this network approach the optimal controllability. In this work, we firstly introduce two methods to enhance network by assigning edge directions. However, these two methods could not completely mitigate the negative effects of inaccessibility and dilations. Thus, to approach the optimal network controllability, the edge directions must mitigate the negative effects of inaccessibility and dilations as much as possible. Finally, we propose the edge direction for optimal controllability. The optimal method has been found to be successfully useful on real-world and synthetic networks. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
