<span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>and timbers<MH6086> of cedar<MH730> beyond<MH369> number<MH4557>, for the Sidonians<MH6722> and Tyrians<MH6876> brought<MH935> large<MH7230> quantities<MH7230> of cedar<MH730> timber<MH6086> to David<MH1732>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>David<MH1732> said<MH559>, “My son<MH1121> Solomon<MH8010> is young<MH5288> and inexperienced<MH7390>, and the house<MH1004> that is to be built<MH1129> for the LORD<MH3068> shall be<MH1431> exceedingly<MH4605> magnificent<MH1431>, famous<MH8034>, and glorious<MH8597> throughout<MH3605> the lands<MH776>. <i>Therefore</i> I now<MH4994> will make<MH3559> preparations<MH3559> for it.” So David<MH1732> made<MH3559> ample<MH7230> preparations<MH3559> before<MH6440> his death<MH4194>. <p class="hdg">Solomon Commanded to Build the Temple</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Then he called<MH7121> for his son<MH1121> Solomon<MH8010>, and commanded<MH6680> him to build<MH1129> a house<MH1004> for the LORD<MH3068> God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>David<MH1732> said<MH559> to Solomon<MH8010>, “My son<MH1121>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>I had intended<MH3824> to build<MH1129> a house<MH1004> for the name<MH8034> of the LORD<MH3068> my God<MH430>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> came<MH1961> to me, saying<MH559>, ‘You have shed<MH8210> much<MH7230> blood<MH1818> and have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>waged<MH6213a> great<MH1419> wars<MH4421>; you shall not build<MH1129> a house<MH1004> to My name<MH8034>, because<MH3588> you have shed<MH8210> <i>so</i> much<MH7227a> blood<MH1818> on the earth<MH776> before<MH6440> Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Behold<MH2009>, a son<MH1121> will be born<MH3205> to you, who<MH1931> shall be a man<MH376> of rest<MH4496>, and I will give<MH5117> him rest<MH5117> from all<MH3605> his enemies<MH340> on every<MH5439> side<MH5439>; for his name<MH8034> will be <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>Solomon<MH8010>, and I will give<MH5414> peace<MH7965> and quiet<MH8253> to Israel<MH3478> in his days<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>He shall build<MH1129> a house<MH1004> for My name<MH8034>, and he shall be My son<MH1121> and I will be his Father<MH1>; and I will establish<MH3559> the throne<MH3678> of his kingdom<MH4438> over<MH5921> Israel<MH3478> forever<MH5704, 5769>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Now<MH6258>, my son<MH1121>, the LORD<MH3068> be with you that you may be<MH6743b> successful<MH6743b>, and build<MH1129> the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> He has spoken<MH1696> concerning<MH5921> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Only<MH389> the LORD<MH3068> give<MH5414> you discretion<MH7922> and understanding<MH998>, and put<MH6680> you in<MH6680> charge<MH6680> of Israel<MH3478>, so that you may keep<MH8104> the Law<MH8451> of the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Then<MH227> you will prosper<MH6743b>, if<MH518> you are<MH8104> careful<MH8104> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>follow<MH6213a> the statutes<MH2706> and the ordinances<MH4941> which<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> commanded<MH6680> Moses<MH4872> concerning<MH5921> Israel<MH3478>. Be strong<MH2388> and courageous<MH553>, do not fear<MH3372a> nor<MH408> be dismayed<MH2865>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Now behold<MH2009>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>with great<MH6040a> pains<MH6040a> I have prepared<MH3559> for the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068> a hundred<MH3967> thousand<MH505> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>talents<MH3603> of gold<MH2091> and a million<MH505, 505> talents<MH3603> of silver<MH3701>, and bronze<MH5178> and iron<MH1270> beyond<MH369> measure<MH4948>, for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>they are in great<MH7230> quantity<MH7230>; I have also prepared<MH3559> timber<MH6086> and stone<MH68>, and you may add<MH3254> to that. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Moreover there are many<MH7230> workmen<MH4399, 6213a> with you, stonecutters<MH2672>, masons<MH2796> of stone<MH68>, and carpenters<MH2796, 6086>; and all<MH3605> <i>of them</i> are skillful<MH2450> in every<MH3605> kind of work<MH4399>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Of the gold<MH2091>, silver<MH3701>, bronze<MH5178>, and iron<MH1270> there<MH369> is<MH369> no<MH369> limit<MH4557>. Arise<MH6965> and work<MH6213a>, and may the LORD<MH3068> be with you.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>David<MH1732> also commanded<MH6680> all<MH3605> the leaders<MH8269> of Israel<MH3478> to help<MH5826> his son<MH1121> Solomon<MH8010>, <i>saying,</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/22-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>“Is the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> not with you? And has He not given<MH5117> you rest<MH5117> on every<MH5439> side<MH5439>?
