From a technical standpoint, this medium is designed as a new generic software layer running on top of the original Internet infrastructure, alongside other existing software layers such as E-mail or the World Wide Web. For more information, see the <a href="https://www.frogans.org/en/resources/overview/access.html">Frogans Technology Overview</a>.</p> <p>As discussed in the <a href="https://newgtlds.icann.org/en/announcements-and-media/case-studies/frogans-a4-26jan17-en.pdf">case study published by ICANN</a>: </p> <div class="list"> <ul><li>The objective of the .frogans TLD is to ensure the security, stability, and reliability required for Frogans as a medium running on top of the Internet, for the benefit of all Internet users.</li></ul> <ul><li>The .frogans TLD domain names are only used to address the computers dedicated to the functioning and administration of Frogans as a medium.</li></ul> <ul><li>The key benefit in using a TLD instead of a second-level domain (e.g. frogans.net) is to gain maximum control over both the registration process and the resolution of these critical domain names.</li></ul> <ul><li>The OP3FT is the sole holder of domain names in the .frogans TLD registry.</li></ul> <ul><li><a id="addresses"><span style="font-weight:bold">The .frogans TLD domain names are not used to name Frogans sites.</span></a></li></ul> <ul style="list-style-type:none"><li>Frogans sites are accessed by means of identifiers called "Frogans addresses" with the following pattern: Network-Name*Site-Name. What makes the .frogans TLD stand out from other TLDs?</a></h3> <p>The .frogans TLD stands out from other TLDs because it makes possible a major innovation for publishing content and services on the Internet, while other TLDs, including the <a href="https://newgtlds.icann.org/en/">new gTLDs introduced into the DNS Root Zone since 2013</a>, are mainly intended to provide creative domain names for accessing traditional Web sites.</p> <p>The .frogans TLD domain names are only used to address the computers dedicated to the functioning and administration of Frogans as a medium. This use is inspired by the use of the .net TLD, as originally intended and specified by Internet pioneer Jon Postel in <a href="https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc1591">RFC 1591</a> (March 1994):</p> <p style="padding-left: 2em;font-family:monospace;font-size:90%;line-height:120%"> NET - This domain is intended to hold only the computers of network providers, that is the NIC and NOC computers, the administrative computers, and the network node computers.
