There shall not be dew or rain in these years unless I say so.&#8221; <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>And the word of LORD JEHOVAH was upon him and said to him: <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>&#8220;Go from here and turn yourself to the East and hide yourself in the valley of Kerith that is before the Jordan. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And you are to drink from the torrent, and I have commanded the ravens that they will nourish you there.&#8221; <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And he went on, and he did according to the word of LORD JEHOVAH; and he went on and sat down in the valley of Kerith that is before the Jordan. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And ravens were bringing him bread and flesh at dawn, and bread and flesh in the evening, and from the torrent he drank water. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And after some days the torrent dried up, because no rain came down in the land.<p> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And the word of LORD JEHOVAH was upon him saying. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>&#8220;Arise, go to Tsarpath of Tsaydan and dwell there; behold I have commanded a widow woman there to nourish you.&#8221; <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And he arose, he went to Tsarpath and he went into the gate of the city and he saw there a widow woman piling up wood, and he called her and said to her: &#8220;Bring me a little water in a vessel and I shall drink.&#8221; <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And she went to bring to him and he called her and said to her: &#8220;Bring me a piece of bread in your hand.&#8221; <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And she said: &#8220;Living is LORD JEHOVAH your God, I have nothing except a handful of flour in a jug and a little oil in a horn, and behold, I am gathering two sticks that I will go and I will make for me and for my son, and we will eat and we will die!&#8221; <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And Elyah said to her: &#8220;You shall not fear. Go and do as you have said, only make a small cake first and bring it to me, and afterward make for you and for your son.&#8221; <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>Because thus says LORD JEHOVAH God of Israel: the jug of meal will not be spent and the horn of oil shall not fail until the day that LORD JEHOVAH will give rain on the face of the land.&#8221; <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And she went and she did according to the word of Elyah, and she ate, she and he and the children of her household in those days. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>The jug of meal was not spent and the horn of oil was not diminished, according to the word of LORD JEHOVAH which he spoke by the agency of Elyah.<p> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And after these matters the son of the woman, the Mistress of the house, became ill and his illness was very severe, until no breath was left in him. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/17-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And she said to Elyah: &#8220;What do I have to do with you, Prophet of God?
