Why isn't same family marriage allowed? <br/><br/>I guess it's less about equality and more about privilege and power. Homosexuals have the backing of Wall Street, Las Vegas, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, Ivy League elite schools, top law firms, and etc. <br/><br/>Polygamists and incestuous-sexuals have no such support. <br/><br/>Then, this is more about 'marriage privilege' than 'marriage equality'. If marriage should be whatever individuals say it is, then, why aren't polygamists and incestuous-sexuals allowed to redefine marriage? Why do only homosexuals and trans-gender people get the privilege? <br/><br/>In the end, it's about power and privilege, not about equality. <br/><br/>It is like the US backs Israelis over Palestinians. Why? Where's the equality? It's because Jewish-Americans are a hell of lot richer and more powerful than Palestinian-Americans. <br/><br/>Same reason US is okay with Israel having 200 nuclear weapons but won't allow any to Iran. And never mind that US has illegally invaded Iraq and destroyed Libya. If you have the power, you can do anything. <br/><br/>That's just how the world works.<br/><br/>The West is now degenerate, decadent, crass, materialistic, and sick. <br/>Not worth emulating in anything but science, technology, and medicine. <br/><br/>Seriously, is Barney Frank's anus really the sexual equal of a woman's vagina that produces life? If a fake penis of a trans-gender person the equal of a real penis of a man? <br/>Is fecal-anal-penetrative 'sex' among men really of equal biological and moral value as real sex between men and women? <br/><br/>Claiming that unequal things are equal is an evil. Regardless of what your religious beliefs are, we live in a country that has freedom for all religions and a constitution which MANDATES separation of Church and State. Gay marriage can be legalized the same day our President gives the eulogy calling for God to give us grace. I pray for those poor souls who were murdered in an act of terrorism solely because of the color of their skin. I pray for those who harbor hatred in their hearts that they may find true peace and let go of condemnation and malice. I pray that, as the years go by, we march closer toward a world Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King dreamt of. Marriage refers to the legal contract that recognizes the couple. A wedding is the place and perhaps the ritual for family, friends and the community to acknowledge or bless the union. One gets married (a contract) within the wedding ceremony, if one takes place. Churches and pastors will still have the right to deny a ceremony in their church based on their beliefs. This denial can be targeted at divorcees, bigamists, those considered too young, criminals, or whatever, including gays. As a Christian and a sinner it's not my place to judge anyone. But marriage has always been the union in any religion out there from sea to shining sea. And it was long before there was a United States and is usually done before a religious leader or minister in a church. So since the beginning of the United States the government has always recognized a church as being the ultimate authority in uniting two people, a man and a women, in Marriage, My problem really isn't that the courts awarded legal benefits to same sex couples. It is that the government got involved in what is considered a religious celebration of marriage. Even the government recognizes a preacher, priest or any religious organization as the authority to marry people. Even a marriage license is a document to recognize two people that are united in holy matrimony and usually signed by a preacher. Making it a religious function and the license is only used by the states as a way to keep track of who is married and for divorces situations. Since there is a separation of church and state then the government has no rights under the law to interfere with or to get involved in the sanctity of marriage. NOW HERE IS MY REAL PROBLEM WITH IT.. The government can't pick and choose the separation of church and state and themselves say there is a separation. So no religious things like the 10 Commandments can be in a public or government building and they even took praying out of schools. All so that there is no religious propaganda on government property maintaining a separation from a church or region. Since the government acknowledges churches and a religious figure to be the person who unites people in marriage then they are going against and getting involved in the church. Which is illegal. So unless they want to let God back into public places then they need to stay out of the churches. The government can and should acknowledge the civil unity between all sexes and giving them equal rights as a couple.
