market power and pricing behavior of products in iron and steel industry by investigating the impact of vertical product differentiation (VPD) on exchange rate pass-through (ERPT). Vietnam has become one of the major trading partners of Thailand since 2017. The iron and steel export value to Vietnam is more than $300 million a year. Particularly, the average growth rate of importing iron and steel is approximately 30% per year. The VPD is applied to analyze the quality difference of iron and steel between Thailand and Vietnam. The 20 products in iron and steel industry are investigated. The monthly pricing behavior of Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System 4-digit products is observed from 2010 to 2019. The Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag is also used to analyze the asymmetry of ERPT in this paper. The empirical results basically reveal an incomplete pass-through between Thai Baht and Vietnamese Dong. The ERPT also varies with the degree of VPD. The product with higher VPD, indicating higher unit values, has higher ERPT. This result suggests the higher market power of the Thai iron and steel industry. In addition, the asymmetry of ERPT exists. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=exchange%20rate%20pass-through" title="exchange rate pass-through">exchange rate pass-through</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=iron%20and%20steel%20industry" title=" iron and steel industry"> iron and steel industry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pricing%20behavior" title=" pricing behavior"> pricing behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vertical%20product%20differentiation" title=" vertical product differentiation"> vertical product differentiation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122212/the-impact-of-vertical-product-differentiation-on-exchange-rate-pass-through-an-empirical-investigation-of-iron-and-steel-industry-between-thailand-and-vietnam" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122212.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">142</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">16</span> Virtual Practical Work as Formation of Physics Concept for Student</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sepdiana%20W.%20Rahmawati">Sepdiana W. It was seen that this program would have a good impact, especially for Indonesian tourism. So it is necessary to develop appropriate marketing strategies. Then to develop tourism prospects sharia government could use such a marketing strategy, for instance, marketing mix and Segmenting, Targeting, and Positioning (STP). The marketing mix is a set of marketing tools used by a state or a company to continue achieving its marketing objectives in target market. STP is the most important initial step in identifying customer value. In such away, it is expected from the use of this strategy could make sharia tourism as a market leader in the field of tourism in Indonesia, it also could attract more tourists to visit and increase economic returns. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=STP" title="STP">STP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=marketing%20mix" title=" marketing mix"> marketing mix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=market%20leader" title=" market leader"> market leader</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sharia%20tourism" title=" sharia tourism"> sharia tourism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22786/marketing-strategy-implementation-in-developing-sharia-tourism-in-indonesia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22786.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">769</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> Bivariate Time-to-Event Analysis with Copula-Based Cox Regression</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Duhania%20O.%20Mahara">Duhania O. The process was done in two stages, the alkalization, and the carboxymethylation. The alkalization was done by adding NaOH solution into the medium which was contained glucomannan and then stirred it in ambient temperature for thirty minutes. The carboxymethylation process was done by adding sodium mono chloroacetate solution into the alkalization product. The carboxymethylation process was conducted for a certain time, and the product was then analyzed for determining the degree of substitution. In this research, the influence of medium to the degree of substitution was studied. Three different medium were used, namely water, 70% ethanol, and 90% ethanol. The results show that 70% ethanol was a better medium than two others because give a higher degree of substitution. Using 70% ethanol as a medium, the experiments for studying the influence of temperature on the carboxymethylation stages were conducted. The results show that the degree of substitution at 65°C is higher than at 45°C. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carboxymethylation" title="carboxymethylation">carboxymethylation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=degree%20of%20substitution" title=" degree of substitution"> degree of substitution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethanol%20medium" title=" ethanol medium"> ethanol medium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glucomannan" title=" glucomannan"> glucomannan</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67898/study-on-the-carboxymethylation-of-glucomannan-from-porang" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67898.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">223</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Paradox of Business Strategic toward Sustainable Business: A Case Study of Hijab Fashion in Bandung</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lisandy%20Arinta%20Suryana">Lisandy Arinta Suryana</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Santi%20Novani"> Santi Novani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Utomo%20Sarjono"> Utomo Sarjono</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Paradox of business strategic is associated with the contradictory practice. It becomes one of the critical way to survive and win in the dynamic competitive landscape – high level of uncertainty and rapid change in the business environment. Those characteristics are similar with the environment of hijab fashion business, especially in Indonesia. This paper aims to describe the success of paradoxical strategic based on historical data of hijab fashion business which have been validated by qualitative approach. This paper discusses two main aspects of paradoxical strategic such as paradox in human resource management, and logistic center management. Then, the detail effects from each practice are described in term of causal loop diagram. Moreover, the practice of paradoxical strategic depends on leadership that can make a brave and dynamic decision by capturing the main problems and opportunities in their business, and also build commitment to achieve a specific goal. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=paradox%20of%20business%20strategic" title="paradox of business strategic">paradox of business strategic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=paradoxical%20strategic" title=" paradoxical strategic"> paradoxical strategic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=causal%20loop%20diagram" title=" causal loop diagram"> causal loop diagram</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainable%20business" title=" sustainable business"> sustainable business</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hijab%20fashion%20business" title=" hijab fashion business"> hijab fashion business</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20strategic" title=" business strategic"> business strategic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54366/paradox-of-business-strategic-toward-sustainable-business-a-case-study-of-hijab-fashion-in-bandung" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54366.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">389</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Motherhood Managerial in Health Services: Need Eustress Internalization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Retty%20Ratnawati">Retty Ratnawati</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Santi%20Sri%20Wulandari"> Santi Sri Wulandari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tulus%20Sabrina"> Tulus Sabrina</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Feminine and masculine gender role stress could occur in some work situation. Being manager in health services that is known to be more women’ role in Indonesia, has expected to have feminine stereotype role. In the communities, this has been done in the program kesejahteraan keluarga (welfare family program) since the 1970s, for example through family planning program. The aim of the study was to explore the experience of being a motherhood managerial in health services. Our auto ethnographic study has revealed that motherhood managerial, even though running by a woman, could have some stress conditions whether she has realized or has not. The challenge would occur when the manager did not realize that she needed the eustress. The autonomy concept for a woman to be a manager could be a complex cycle that needs open communication continually and understanding the four elements surround her life. In conclusion, there is a demand to have the eustress when the manager does not realize that she has to be an autonomy person. However, it does not need eustress when the manager understands about how to deal with the complex cycle of being autonomy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=motherhood%20managerial" title="motherhood managerial">motherhood managerial</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eustress" title=" eustress"> eustress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=feminine%20gender%20role%20stress" title=" feminine gender role stress"> feminine gender role stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=masculine%20gender%20role%20stress" title=" masculine gender role stress"> masculine gender role stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autonomy%20concept%20in%20women" title=" autonomy concept in women"> autonomy concept in women</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58081/motherhood-managerial-in-health-services-need-eustress-internalization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58081.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">274</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Virtual Co-Creation Model in Hijab Fashion Industry: Business Model Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lisandy%20A.%20Suryana">Lisandy A. Unfortunately, although Indonesia has the biggest moeslem population, the number of hijab business penetration only 10%. Therefore, this research aims to analyze and develop the virtual co-creation platform for hijab creative industry as the strategy to achieve sustainability and increase the market share. This preliminary research describes the main stakeholders in the hijab creative industry based on business model approach. This business model is adapted by considering the service science context, and the data is collected by using the qualitative approach especially in-depth interview. This business model shows the relationship between resource integration, value co-creation, the value proposition of the company, and also the financial aspect of the business. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=value%20co-creation" title="value co-creation">value co-creation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hijab%20Fashion%20Industry" title=" Hijab Fashion Industry"> Hijab Fashion Industry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=creative%20industry" title=" creative industry"> creative industry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=service%20business%20model" title=" service business model"> service business model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20model%20canvas" title=" business model canvas"> business model canvas</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/60342/virtual-co-creation-model-in-hijab-fashion-industry-business-model-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/60342.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">380</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Safety, Healthy, Intact, and Halal as New Indonesia Policy on Food Security and Safety to Support SDG&#039;S: Sustainable Development Goals</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ramadhan%20Febriansyah">Ramadhan Febriansyah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sarah%20Novianti"> Sarah Novianti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Santi%20Agustini"> Santi Agustini</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Indonesia is a big country with Moslem population. To enrich the empirical literature in Asian context, this study examines the disclosure pattern of corporate sustainability and the influence of sustainability reporting on financial performance of firms from four Asian countries (Japan, South Korea, India and Indonesia) that are publishing sustainability report continuously from 2009 to 2016. The study has used content analysis technique based on Global Reporting Framework (3 and 3.1) reporting framework to compute the disclosure score of corporate sustainability and its components. While dichotomous coding system has been employed to compute overall quantitative disclosure score, a four-point scale has been used to access the quality of the disclosure. For analysing the disclosure pattern of corporate sustainability, box plot has been used. Further, Pearson chi-square test has been used to examine whether there is any difference in the proportion of disclosure between the countries. Finally, quantile regression model has been employed to examine the influence of corporate sustainability reporting on the difference locations of the conditional distribution of firm performance. The findings of the study indicate that Japan has occupied first position in terms of disclosure of sustainability information followed by South Korea and India. In case of Indonesia, the quality of disclosure score is considerably less as compared to other three countries. Further, the gap between the quality and quantity of disclosure score is comparatively less in Japan and South Korea as compared to India and Indonesia. The same is evident in respect of the components of sustainability. The results of quantile regression indicate that a positive impact of corporate sustainability becomes stronger at upper quantiles in case of Japan and South Korea. But the study fails to extricate any definite pattern on the impact of corporate sustainability disclosure on the financial performance of firms from Indonesia and India. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corporate%20sustainability" title="corporate sustainability">corporate sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quality%20and%20quantity%20of%20disclosure" title=" quality and quantity of disclosure"> quality and quantity of disclosure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=content%20analysis" title=" content analysis"> content analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantile%20regression" title=" quantile regression"> quantile regression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asian%20countries" title=" Asian countries"> Asian countries</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97073/corporate-sustainability-practices-in-asian-countries-pattern-of-disclosure-and-impact-on-financial-performance" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97073.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">194</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Spirituality, Sense of Community and Economic Welfare: A Case of Mawlynnong Village, India</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ricky%20A.%20J.%20Syngkon">Ricky A. On the other hand, spirituality is deeply entwined in the fabric of daily lives that helps in shaping attitudes, opinions, and behaviors of common people and ensuring quality of lives and overall sustainable development through protection of environment and natural resources. Mawlynnong, a small village in North-Eastern part of India, is a vivid example of how spirituality influences the development of sense of community leading to upliftment of the economic conditions of the people. Mawlynnong as a small hamlet has been in existence for a couple of centuries and it was acknowledged as the cleanest village of Asia in 2004 by BBC and National Geographic and subsequently endorsed by UNESCO in 2006. Consequently, it has attracted large number of tourists over the years from India and other parts of the world. This paper tries to explore how spirituality leads to a sense of community and the economic benefits for the people. Further, this paper also tries to find out the answer whether such an informal collective effort is sustainable or not for achieving solidarity economy. The study is based on both primary and secondary data collected from the local people and the State Government records. The findings of the study indicate that over the last one and a half decade the tourist footfall has increased to a great extent in Mawlynnong and this has brought about a paradigm shift in the occupational structure of its inhabitants from plantation to service sector particularly tourism and tourism related activities. As a result, from the economic standpoint, it is observed that life is much better off now as compared to before. But from the socio-cultural standpoint, the study finds a drift in terms of the cohesiveness and community bonding which was the hallmark of this village. This drift puts a question mark about the sustainability of such practices and consequently the development of solidarity economy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spirituality" title="spirituality">spirituality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sense%20of%20community" title=" sense of community"> sense of community</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=economic%20welfare" title=" economic welfare"> economic welfare</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solidarity%20economy" title=" solidarity economy"> solidarity economy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mawlynnong%20village" title=" Mawlynnong village"> Mawlynnong village</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97071/spirituality-sense-of-community-and-economic-welfare-a-case-of-mawlynnong-village-india" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97071.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">140</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Effect of Electromagnetic Fields at 27 GHz on Sperm Quality of Mytilus galloprovincialis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carmen%20Sica">Carmen Sica</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elena%20M.%20Scalisi"> Elena M. These devices emit a considerable amount of electromagnetic radiation (EMR), which could interact with the male reproductive system either by thermal or non-thermal mechanisms. The aim of this study was to investigate the direct in vitro influence of 5G radiation on sperm quality in Mytilus galloprovincialis, considered an excellent model for reproduction studies. The experiments at 27 GHz were conducted by using a no commercial high gain pyramidal horn antenna. To evaluate the specific absorption rate (SAR), a numerical simulation has been performed. The resulting incident power density was significantly lower than the power density limit of 10 mW/cm2 set by the international guidelines as a limit for nonthermal effects above 6 GHz. However, regarding temperature measurements of the aqueous sample, it has been verified an increase of 0.2°C, compared to the control samples. This very low-temperature increase couldn’t interfere with experiments. For experiments, sperm samples taken from sexually mature males of Mytilus galloprovincialis were placed in artificial seawater, salinity 30 + 1% and pH 8.3 filtered with a 0.2 m filter. After evaluating the number and quality of spermatozoa, sperm cells were exposed to electromagnetic fields a 27GHz. The effect of exposure on sperm motility and quality was evaluated after 10, 20, 30 and 40 minutes with a light microscope and also using the Eosin test to verify the vitality of the gametes. All the samples were performed in triplicate and statistical analysis was carried out using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Turkey test for multiple comparations of means to determine differences of sperm motility. A significant decrease (30%) in sperm motility was observed after 10 minutes of exposure and after 30 minutes, all sperms were immobile and not vital. Due to little literature data about this topic, these results could be useful for further studies concerning a great diffusion of these new technologies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mussel" title="mussel">mussel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spermatozoa" title=" spermatozoa"> spermatozoa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sperm%20motility" title=" sperm motility"> sperm motility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=millimeter%20waves" title=" millimeter waves"> millimeter waves</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144210/effect-of-electromagnetic-fields-at-27-ghz-on-sperm-quality-of-mytilus-galloprovincialis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144210.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">167</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Leptospira Lipl32-Specific Antibodies: Therapeutic Property, Epitopes Characterization and Molecular Mechanisms of Neutralization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Santi%20Maneewatchararangsri">Santi Maneewatchararangsri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wanpen%20Chaicumpa"> Wanpen Chaicumpa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patcharin%20Saengjaruk"> Patcharin Saengjaruk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Urai%20Chaisri"> Urai Chaisri </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Leptospirosis is a globally neglected disease that continues to be a significant public health and veterinary burden, with millions of cases reported each year. Early and accurate differential diagnosis of leptospirosis from other febrile illnesses and the development of a broad spectrum of leptospirosis vaccines are needed. The LipL32 outer membrane lipoprotein is a member of Leptospira adhesive matrices and has been found to exert hemolytic activity to erythrocytes in vitro. Therefore, LipL32 is regarded as a potential target for diagnosis, broad-spectrum leptospirosis vaccines, and for passive immunotherapy. In this study, we established LipL32-specific mouse monoclonal antibodies, mAbLPF1 and mAbLPF2, and their respective mouse- and humanized-engineered single chain variable fragment (ScFv). Their antibodies’ neutralizing activities against Leptospira-mediated hemolysis in vitro, and the therapeutic efficacy of mAbs against heterologous Leptospira infected hamsters were demonstrated. The epitope peptide of mAb LPF1 was mapped to a non-contiguous carboxy-terminal β-turn and amphipathic α-helix of LipL32 structure contributing to phospholipid/host cell adhesion and membrane insertion. We found that the mAbLPF2 epitope was located on the interacting loop of peptide binding groove of the LipL32 molecule responsible for interactions with host constituents. Epitope sequences are highly conserved among Leptospira spp. and are absent from the LipL32 superfamily of other microorganisms. Both epitopes are surface-exposed, readily accessible by mAbs, and immunogenic. However, they are less dominant when revealed by LipL32-specific immunoglobulins from leptospirosis-patient sera and rabbit hyperimmune serum raised by whole Leptospira. Our study also demonstrated an adhesion inhibitory activity of LipL32 protein to host membrane components and cells mediated by mAbs as well as an anti-hemolytic activity of the respective antibodies. The therapeutic antibodies, particularly the humanized-ScFv, have a potential for further development as non-drug therapeutic agent for human leptospirosis, especially in subjects allergic to antibiotics. The epitope peptides recognized by two therapeutic mAbs have potential use as tools for structure-function studies. Finally, protective peptides may be used as a target for epitope-based vaccines for control of leptospirosis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=leptospira%20lipl32-specific%20antibodies" title="leptospira lipl32-specific antibodies">leptospira lipl32-specific antibodies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=therapeutic%20epitopes" title=" therapeutic epitopes"> therapeutic epitopes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=epitopes%20characterization" title=" epitopes characterization"> epitopes characterization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=immunotherapy" title=" immunotherapy"> immunotherapy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31247/leptospira-lipl32-specific-antibodies-therapeutic-property-epitopes-characterization-and-molecular-mechanisms-of-neutralization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31247.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">297</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Noninvasive Technique for Measurement of Heartbeat in Zebrafish Embryos Exposed to Electromagnetic Fields at 27 GHz</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sara%20Ignoto">Sara Ignoto</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elena%20M.%20Scalisi"> Elena M. The higher frequency waves, however, have a lower capacity to propagate in free space and therefore, in order to guarantee the capillary coverage of the territory for high reliability applications, it will be necessary to install a large number of repeaters. Following the introduction of this new technology, there has been growing concern in recent years about the possible harmful effects on human health and several studies were published using several animal models. This study aimed to observe the possible short-term effects induced by 5G-millimeter waves on heartbeat of early life stages of Danio rerio using DanioScope software (Noldus). DanioScope is the complete toolbox for measurements on zebrafish embryos and larvae. The effect of substances can be measured on the developing zebrafish embryo by a range of parameters: earliest activity of the embryo’s tail, activity of the developing heart, speed of blood flowing through the vein, length and diameters of body parts. Activity measurements, cardiovascular data, blood flow data and morphometric parameters can be combined in one single tool. Obtained data are elaborate and provided by the software both numerical as well as graphical. The experiments were performed at 27 GHz by a no commercial high gain pyramidal horn antenna. According to OECD guidelines, exposure to 5G-millimeter waves was tested by fish embryo toxicity test within 96 hours post fertilization, Observations were recorded every 24h, until the end of the short-term test (96h). The results have showed an increase of heartbeat rate on exposed embryos at 48h hpf than control group, but this increase has not been shown at 72-96 h hpf. Nowadays, there is a scant of literature data about this topic, so these results could be useful to approach new studies and also to evaluate potential cardiotoxic effects of mobile radiofrequency. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Danio%20rerio" title="Danio rerio">Danio rerio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DanioScope" title=" DanioScope"> DanioScope</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cardiotoxicity" title=" cardiotoxicity"> cardiotoxicity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=millimeter%20waves." title=" millimeter waves."> millimeter waves.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144206/noninvasive-technique-for-measurement-of-heartbeat-in-zebrafish-embryos-exposed-to-electromagnetic-fields-at-27-ghz" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144206.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">163</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> In Vivo Evaluation of Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields at 27 GHz (5G) of Danio Rerio: A Preliminary Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elena%20Maria%20Scalisi">Elena Maria Scalisi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roberta%20%20Pecoraro"> Roberta Pecoraro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martina%20Contino"> Martina Contino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sara%20Ignoto"> Sara Ignoto</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carmelo%20Iaria"> Carmelo Iaria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Santi%20Concetto%20Pavone"> Santi Concetto Pavone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gino%20Sorbello"> Gino Sorbello</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Loreto%20Di%20Donato"> Loreto Di Donato</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maria%20Violetta%20Brundo"> Maria Violetta Brundo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> 5G Technology is evolving to satisfy a variety of service requirements that may allow high data-rate connections (1Gbps) and lower latency times than current (<1ms). The aim of this preliminary study is to evaluate possible short term effects induced by 5G-millimeter waves on embryonic development and early life stages of Danio rerio by Z-FET. We exposed developing zebrafish at frequency of 27 GHz, with a standard pyramidal horn antenna placed at 15 cm far from the samples holder ensuring an incident power density of 10 mW/cm2. During the exposure cycle, from 6 h post fertilization (hpf) to 96 hpf, we measured a different morphological endpoints every 24 hours. Zebrafish embryo toxicity test (Z-FET) is a short term test, carried out on fertilized eggs of zebrafish and it represents an effective alternative to acute test with adult fish (OECD, 2013). We have observed that 5G did not reveal significant impacts on mortality nor on morphology because exposed larvae showed a normal detachment of the tail, presence of heartbeat, well-organized somites, therefore hatching rate was lower than untreated larvae even at 48 h of exposure. Moreover, the immunohistochemical analysis performed on larvae showed a negativity to the HSP-70 expression used as a biomarkers. This is a preliminary study on evaluation of potential toxicity induced by 5G and it seems appropriate to underline the importance that further studies would take, aimed at clarifying the probable real risk of exposure to electromagnetic fields. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Biomarker%20of%20exposure" title="Biomarker of exposure">Biomarker of exposure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=embryonic%20development" title=" embryonic development"> embryonic development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=5G%20waves" title=" 5G waves"> 5G waves</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=zebrafish%20embryo%20toxicity%20test" title=" zebrafish embryo toxicity test"> zebrafish embryo toxicity test</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129179/in-vivo-evaluation-of-exposure-to-electromagnetic-fields-at-27-ghz-5g-of-danio-rerio-a-preliminary-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129179.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">129</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Analysis of Unconditional Conservatism and Earnings Quality before and after the IFRS Adoption</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Monica%20Santi">Monica Santi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Evita%20Puspitasari"> Evita Puspitasari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) has developed the principle based accounting standard. Based on this, IASB then eliminated the conservatism concept within accounting framework. Conservatism concept represents a prudent reaction to uncertainty to try to ensure that uncertainties and risk inherent in business situations are adequately considered. The conservatism concept has two ingredients: conditional conservatism or ex-post (news depending prudence) and unconditional conservatism or ex-ante (news-independent prudence). IFRS in substance disregards the unconditional conservatism because the unconditional conservatism can cause the understatement assets or overstated liabilities, and eventually the financial statement would be irrelevance since the information does not represent the real fact. Therefore, the IASB eliminate the conservatism concept. However, it does not decrease the practice of unconditional conservatism in the financial statement reporting. Therefore, we expected the earnings quality would be affected because of this situation, even though the IFRS implementation was expected to increase the earnings quality. The objective of this study was to provide empirical findings about the unconditional conservatism and the earnings quality before and after the IFRS adoption. The earnings per accrual measure were used as the proxy for the unconditional conservatism. If the earnings per accrual were negative (positive), it meant the company was classified as the conservative (not conservative). The earnings quality was defined as the ability of the earnings in reflecting the future earnings by considering the earnings persistence and stability. We used the earnings response coefficient (ERC) as the proxy for the earnings quality. ERC measured the extant of a security’s abnormal market return in response to the unexpected component of reporting earning of the firm issuing that security. The higher ERC indicated the higher earnings quality. The manufacturing companies listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) were used as the sample companies, and the 2009-2010 period was used to represent the condition before the IFRS adoption, and 2011-2013 was used to represent the condition after the IFRS adoption. Data was analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test and regression analysis. We used the firm size as the control variable with the consideration the firm size would affect the earnings quality of the company. This study had proved that the unconditional conservatism had not changed, either before and after the IFRS adoption period. However, we found the different findings for the earnings quality. The earnings quality had decreased after the IFRS adoption period. This empirical results implied that the earnings quality before the IFRS adoption was higher. This study also had found that the unconditional conservatism positively influenced the earnings quality insignificantly. The findings implied that the implementation of the IFRS had not decreased the unconditional conservatism practice and has not altered the earnings quality of the manufacturing company. Further, we found that the unconditional conservatism did not affect the earnings quality. Eventhough the empirical result shows that the unconditional conservatism gave positive influence to the earnings quality, but the influence was not significant. Thus, we concluded that the implementation of the IFRS did not increase the earnings quality. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=earnings%20quality" title="earnings quality">earnings quality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=earnings%20response%20coefficient" title=" earnings response coefficient"> earnings response coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IFRS%20Adoption" title=" IFRS Adoption"> IFRS Adoption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unconditional%20conservatism" title=" unconditional conservatism"> unconditional conservatism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43191/analysis-of-unconditional-conservatism-and-earnings-quality-before-and-after-the-ifrs-adoption" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43191.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">259</span> </span> </div> </div> </div> </main> <footer> <div id="infolinks" class="pt-3 pb-2"> <div class="container"> <div style="background-color:#f5f5f5;" class="p-3"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> About <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support#legal-information">Legal</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/WASET-16th-foundational-anniversary.pdf">WASET celebrates its 16th foundational anniversary</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Account <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile">My Account</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Explore <li><a href="https://waset.org/disciplines">Disciplines</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conferences">Conferences</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conference-programs">Conference Program</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/committees">Committees</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Publications</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Research <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts">Abstracts</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Periodicals</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/archive">Archive</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Open Science <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Philosophy.pdf">Open Science Philosophy</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Award.pdf">Open Science Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Society-Open-Science-and-Open-Innovation.pdf">Open Innovation</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Postdoctoral-Fellowship-Award.pdf">Postdoctoral Fellowship Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Scholarly-Research-Review.pdf">Scholarly Research Review</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Support <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">Support</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Report Abuse</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container text-center"> <hr style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:.3rem;"> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" target="_blank" class="text-muted small">Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License</a> <div id="copy" class="mt-2">&copy;
