And Zedekiah<MH6667> revolted<MH4775> against the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Now it came<MH1961> about<MH1961> in the ninth<MH8671> year<MH8141> of his reign<MH4427a>, on the tenth<MH6218> <i>day</i> of the tenth<MH6224> month<MH2320>, that Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> came<MH935>, he and all<MH3605> his army<MH2428>, against<MH5921> Jerusalem<MH3389>, camped<MH2583> against<MH5921> it, and built<MH1129> a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>bulwark<MH1785> all<MH5439> around<MH5439> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>So the city<MH5892b> was under siege<MH4692> until<MH5704> the eleventh<MH6249, 6240> year<MH8141> of King<MH4428> Zedekiah<MH6667>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>On the ninth<MH8672> <i>day</i> of the fourth<MH7243> month<MH2320> the famine<MH7458> was so severe<MH2388> in the city<MH5892b> that there was no<MH3808> food<MH3899> for the people<MH5971a> of the land<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Then the city<MH5892b> was breached<MH1234>, and all<MH3605> the warriors<MH376, 4421> fled<MH1272> and left<MH3318> the city<MH5892b> at night<MH3915> by way<MH1870> of the gate<MH8179> between<MH996> the two walls<MH2346> which<MH834> <i>was</i> by the king’s<MH4428> garden<MH1588>, though the Chaldeans<MH3778> were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>all<MH5439> around<MH5439> the city<MH5892b>. And they went<MH1980> by way<MH1870> of the Arabah<MH6160>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But the army<MH2428> of the Chaldeans<MH3778> pursued<MH7291> the king<MH4428> and overtook<MH5381> Zedekiah<MH6667> in the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>desert<MH6160> plains<MH6160> of Jericho<MH3405>, and all<MH3605> his army<MH2428> was scattered<MH6327a> from him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Then they captured<MH8610> the king<MH4428> and brought<MH5927> him up<MH5927> to the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> at Riblah<MH7247> in the land<MH776> of Hamath<MH2574>, and he <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>passed<MH1696> sentence<MH1696> on him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> slaughtered<MH7819> the sons<MH1121> of Zedekiah<MH6667> before his eyes<MH5869>, and he also<MH1571> slaughtered<MH7819> all<MH3605> the commanders<MH8269> of Judah<MH3063> in Riblah<MH7247>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Then he blinded<MH5786> the eyes<MH5869> of Zedekiah<MH6667>; and the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> bound<MH631> him with bronze<MH5178> shackles<MH5178> and brought<MH935> him to Babylon<MH894> and put<MH5414> him in prison<MH1004, 6486> until<MH5704> the day<MH3117> of his death<MH4194>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Now on the tenth<MH6218> <i>day</i> of the fifth<MH2549> month<MH2320>, which<MH1931> was the nineteenth<MH8672, 6240> year<MH8141> of King<MH4428> Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019>, king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>, Nebuzaradan<MH5018> the captain<MH7227b> of the bodyguard<MH2876>, who <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>was<MH5975, 6440> in<MH5975, 6440> the<MH5975, 6440> service<MH5975, 6440> of<MH5975, 6440> the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>, came<MH935> to Jerusalem<MH3389>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And he burned<MH8313> the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>, the king’s<MH4428> house<MH1004>, and all<MH3605> the houses<MH1004> of Jerusalem<MH3389>; even every<MH3605> large<MH1419> house<MH1004> he burned<MH8313> with fire<MH784>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>So the entire<MH3605> army<MH2428> of the Chaldeans<MH3778> who<MH834> <i>were</i> with the captain<MH7227b> of the guard<MH2876> tore<MH5422> down<MH5422> all<MH3605> the walls<MH2346> around<MH5439> Jerusalem<MH3389>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Then Nebuzaradan<MH5018> the captain<MH7227b> of the guard<MH2876> took<MH1540> into<MH1540> exile<MH1540> some<MH4480> of the poorest<MH1803b> of the people<MH5971a>, the rest<MH3499a> of the people<MH5971a> who were left<MH7604> in the city<MH5892b>, the deserters<MH5307> who<MH834> had deserted<MH5307> to the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>, and the rest<MH3499a> of the craftsmen<MH525>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>But Nebuzaradan<MH5018> the captain<MH7227b> of the guard<MH2876> left<MH7604> some<MH4480> of the poorest<MH1803b> of the land<MH776> to be vinedressers<MH3755> and farmers<MH3009>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Now the bronze<MH5178> pillars<MH5982> which<MH834> belonged to the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068> and the stands<MH4350> and the bronze<MH5178> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>sea<MH3220>, which<MH834> were in the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>, the Chaldeans<MH3778> smashed<MH7665> to<MH7665> pieces<MH7665> and carried<MH5375> all<MH3605> their bronze<MH5178> to Babylon<MH894>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>They also took<MH3947> the pots<MH5518a>, the shovels<MH3257>, the snuffers<MH4212>, the basins<MH4219>, the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>pans<MH3709>, and all<MH3605> the bronze<MH5178> vessels<MH3627> which<MH834> were used<MH8334> in temple<MH8334> service<MH8334>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>The captain<MH7227b> of the guard<MH2876> also took<MH3947> the bowls<MH5592a>, the firepans<MH4289>, the basins<MH4219>, the pots<MH5518a>, the lampstands<MH4501>, the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>pans<MH3709>, and the drink<MH4518> offering<MH4518> bowls<MH4518>, whatever<MH834> was fine<MH2091> gold<MH2091>, and whatever<MH834> was fine<MH3701> silver<MH3701>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>The two<MH8147> pillars<MH5982>, the one<MH259> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>sea<MH3220>, and the twelve<MH8147, 6240> bronze<MH5178> bulls<MH1241> that were under<MH8478> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>the sea<MH3220>, <i>and</i> the stands<MH4350>, which<MH834> King<MH4428> Solomon<MH8010> had made<MH6213a> for the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>—the bronze<MH5178> of all<MH3605> these<MH428> vessels<MH3627> was beyond<MH3808> weight<MH4948>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>As for the pillars<MH5982>, the height<MH6967> of each<MH259> pillar<MH5982> <i>was</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>eighteen<MH8083, 6240> cubits<MH520>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>it <i>was</i> twelve<MH8147, 6240> cubits<MH520> in circumference<MH5437, 2339> and four<MH702> fingers<MH676> in thickness<MH5672>, <i>and</i> hollow<MH5014>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Also, a capital<MH3805> of bronze<MH5178> was on top<MH5921> of it; and the height<MH6967> of each<MH259> capital<MH3805> was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>five<MH2568> cubits<MH520>, with latticework<MH7639> and pomegranates<MH7416> on the capital<MH3805> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>, all<MH3605> of bronze<MH5178>. And the second<MH8145> pillar<MH5982> was like these<MH428>, including pomegranates<MH7416>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>There were ninety-six<MH8673, 8337a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>exposed<MH7307> pomegranates<MH7416>; all<MH3605> the pomegranates<MH7416> <i>numbered</i> a hundred<MH3967> on the latticework<MH7639> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Then the captain<MH7227b> of the guard<MH2876> took<MH3947> Seraiah<MH8304> the chief<MH7218> priest<MH3548> and Zephaniah<MH6846> the second<MH4932> priest<MH3548>, with the three<MH7969> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>officers<MH8104> of the temple<MH5592b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>He also took<MH3947> from the city<MH5892b> one<MH259> official<MH5631> who<MH834> was overseer<MH6496> of the warriors<MH376, 4421>, seven<MH7651> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>of the king’s<MH4428> advisers<MH582, 7200> who<MH834> were found<MH4672> in the city<MH5892b>, the scribe<MH5613b> of the commander<MH8269> of the army<MH6635> who mustered<MH6633> the people<MH5971a> of the land<MH776>, and sixty<MH8346> men<MH376> from the people<MH5971a> of the land<MH776> who were found<MH4672> inside<MH8432> the city<MH5892b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Nebuzaradan<MH5018> the captain<MH7227b> of the bodyguards<MH2876> took<MH3947> them and brought<MH1980> them to the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> at Riblah<MH7247>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Then the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> struck<MH5221> them and put<MH4191> them to<MH4191> death<MH4191> in Riblah<MH7247> in the land<MH776> of Hamath<MH2574>. So Judah<MH3063> was led<MH1540> into<MH1540> exile<MH1540> from its land<MH127>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>These<MH2088> are the people<MH5971a> whom<MH834> Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> took<MH1540> into<MH1540> exile<MH1540>: in the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>seventh<MH7651> year<MH8141> 3,023<MH7969, 505, 6242> Jews<MH3064>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/52-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>in the twenty-third<MH6242, 7969> year<MH8141> of Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019>, Nebuzaradan<MH5018> the captain<MH7227b> of the guard<MH2876> took<MH1540> into<MH1540> exile<MH1540> 745<MH7651, 3967, 705, 2568> Jewish<MH3064> people<MH5315>;
