The temple of LORD JEHOVAH!’ <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>You are the temple of LORD JEHOVAH if you will beautify your paths and your deeds, and if you will do justice between a man and his neighbor. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And the settler and the orphan and the widow you shall not cheat and you shall not oppress, and innocent blood you shall not shed in this place, and after other gods you shall not go that we would do harm to you. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And I shall make you dwell in this place in the land that I have given to your fathers from old times and unto eternity<p> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And behold, you trust on a lying word that does not profit <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>You are stealing and murdering and you commit adultery and swear in my name with falsehood, and you lay incense for Baal, and you go after other gods that you do not know <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And you come and stand before me in this house upon which my name is called, and you were saying, "Deliver us”, and you do these all evils <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>Has this house upon which my name is called become a den of thieves in your eyes? Also, behold, I have seen it, says LORD JEHOVAH<p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>Because of this, go to my place that is in Shiloh where I made my name dwell there at the first, and see what I have done to it, because of the evil of my people Israel <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And now, because you had done all these works, says LORD JEHOVAH, and I went before and I spoke to you, and you did not listen, and I called to you, and you did not answer <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>I shall do to this house, upon which my name is called, upon which you trust, and to the city that I have given to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And I shall cast you out from before my face as you have cast out all your brethren, all the seed of Aphreim<p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And you shall not pray for this people, and you shall not inquire for them and you shall not beg of me, because I will not listen to you <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>Do you not see a thing that they do in the villages of Judea and in the streets of Jerusalem? <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>The children gather wood and the fathers burn fire and the wives knead dough to make cake of fine flour for the service of Heaven, and to pour out a drink offering to other gods that they would anger me <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>It is not I they were angering, says LORD JEHOVAH, but their souls, that their faces would be ashamed <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>Because of this, thus says LORD JEHOVAH God: “Behold my anger and my passion rest on this place, on the children of man and upon beast and upon trees of the wilderness, and upon fruit of the Earth, and it will burn and will not be extinguished!”<p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>Thus says LORD JEHOVAH of Hosts, God of Israel: “Add their burnt offerings to their sacrifices and eat meat which I did not speak to their fathers <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And I did not command them in the day when I brought them out from the land of Egypt, neither about burnt offerings nor about sacrifices <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>But this word I commanded them and I said: ‘Hear my voice and I shall be God to you and you will be to me a people, and walk in all the ways that I command you, that it will be good for you’ <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And they did not hear, and they did not incline their ears to hear, but they went after their counsels and after the desires of their evil heart, and they turned back and not forward <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>From the day that their fathers had gone from the land of Egypt and until today, and I sent to them all my Servants the Prophets; every day I arose early and I sent them <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And they did not hear, and they did not incline their ears to me, and they hardened their necks more than their fathers<p> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And you will speak all these words to them, and they shall not hear you, and you call to them and they do not answer you <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>The faith is destroyed and is cut off from their mouth<p> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>Cut your hair and throw it away, and take up lamentation on the street, for LORD JEHOVAH is angry and he has forsaken the passing generation<p> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/7-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>Because the children of Yehuda have done evil before me, says LORD JEHOVAH.
