href="https://www.arborday.org/celebrate/">the 150th U.S. anniversary of this tree-planting holiday</a>, we've got a <strong>trio of tree-topping treats</strong> ALL arranging <em>Chrono Trigger</em>'s endearing classic, "Secret of the Forest"! We begin with a <strong>serene, atmospheric blend of winds</strong>, chromatic percussion, harp, & nature FX as <a href="https://youtube.com/rebeccaetripp"><strong>RebeccaETripp</strong></a> collaborates with some <strong>talented woodwind players</strong>:</p> <blockquote> <p>"This was my contribution to the <strong><a href="https://game-grooves.com">GameGrooves</a> album <a href="https://game-grooves.com/blog/heartwood">Heartwood</a></strong>. For this project, several musicians came together to support the <strong><a href="https://www.rainforesttrust.org/">Rainforest Trust</a></strong> charity with forest-themed VGM. Each track was for a different game. I chose to do the Chrono Trigger one. Please check out their amazing works!"</p> </blockquote> <p>The arrangement itself sets a vibe & essentially sticks with it, <strong>inviting listeners into a sonic grove that's bustling</strong> with birds, bees, and, well.... bassoon :) Plenty of flute & harp as well, and various bells, all for a woodsy/mystical aesthetic that'll <strong>have you thinking you're in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lothl%C3%B3rien">Lothlórien</a></strong>. I do get more of a passive, peaceful mojo from this than the titular joy, but it's enchanting all the same. Live performances on winds lend an organic & more emotive presence to the arrangement, which drifts in like an ephemeral daydream, and out likewise.
