The problem seemed to subside for a time, but now this phenomenon is back with a vengeance and getting noticed in the news as it is a serious threat to the nation’s food supply. I wanted readers of my blog to be aware of this threat to their food supplies going forward. The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWsBZbnt_4A">first link</a>, from CBS News, reports that hundreds of millions of bees have died just since last June and that bee losses could approach 80% in the USA. This is very serious as bees are used to pollinate about 1/3rd of all US crops. It relates that 75% of the fruits, vegetables and nuts need pollination to produce a crop. This link is well worth watching, and it concludes with the statement that the massive die-off of pollinator bees is a “national food security issue.” The <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/scientists-warn-severe-honey-bee-losses-2025-rcna198141">second link</a>, from NBC News, estimates that perhaps 70% of America’s pollinator bees may be at risk of dying in 2025. This could easily be a global food issue if the pollinator die-offs continue as it asserts that 35% of the world’s food supply is dependent on bee pollination. The <a href="https://apnews.com/article/honeybees-pollinator-extinct-disease-death-climate-change-f60297706e19c7346ff1881587b5aced">third link</a> adds that nearly half of managed pollinator bee hives have experienced a complete die-off of their bees in the USA. It adds one bright spot. Some colonies in Eastern Maryland have only an 18% die-off rate. Clearly some investigation is needed to see why the die-off rate is so much lower on Maryland’s Eastern side. The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdp4PiyB2vY">fourth link</a> focuses on California, where many fruits, vegetables and nuts are grown. It includes an odd tidbit of information for investigators to consider. It reports that completely healthy hives of bees have experienced a complete die-off within days of being present in California. This an extraordinary symptom of something going wrong with the bee’s environment or diet in California. The links in this post offer a variety of possible explanations for the sudden increase in the bee die-off problem. The <a href="https://www.texastribune.org/2025/03/03/texas-honey-bee-deaths/">fifth link</a> focuses on Texas where the bee die-off problem is also very bad, with some bee pollinators losing 2/3rds of their bees just since last June, so the problem is nationwide–not limited to California. The <a href="https://www.rutgers.edu/news/decline-bees-other-pollinators-threatens-us-crop-yields">sixth link</a> focuses on specific crops that are most at risk to the bee die-off, and it clear from several聽 of the links cited in this post that that the almond crop in California is especially at risk if a solution to the bee die-off plague isn’t found soon. The American public takes it for granted that food shortages “can’t happen here,” but they do not realize that the loss of pollinators endangers large swaths of the nation’s food supplies. It is likely that most Americans won’t realize how bad the problem is until shelves start going bare in their grocery stores. When the general public gets scared about this crisis you can bet that the shelves for produce and nuts will be bare within days. What is not clear to me is how bad this bee die-off is around the world. For example, is the bee die-off as bad in Mexico (where the USA gets much of its produce from)? If the problem isn’t as bad in Mexico, it would be a clue to study. Does Mexico not use certain pesticides or chemicals that are common in the USA? If the problem is not as bad in other nations, it raises another possibility: deliberate sabotage. China has, for example, pledged to bring down the USA via all kinds of “asymmetric” methods of waging war. A 2002 book by two high-ranking Chinese officers, entitled Unrestricted Warfare, suggests many ways to weaken and defeat a nation without any actual declaration of war. The Two Chinese Colonels who wrote this book are Col. Qiao Liang and Col. Wang Xiangsui, and their book is a blueprint for China to weaken the USA from within in many kinds of ways China would like to have the USA collapse from within so China can dominate or conquer the USA without much of a fight. Their book would be very enlightening to Americans if they were required to read this book. Striking at a nation’s food supply is a great way to weaken a rival nation. The possibility that the bee die-off is intentionally caused deserves investigation as well. For example, how good is the security around the bee colonies during the time when they are idle? Are there security cameras on the hives when they are not being transported? This crisis is serious enough that all angles of investigation should be pursued. Bible prophecy does warn that food shortages will become severe in the latter days of our age, so this infers a global crisis. Jesus Christ himself warned about “famines” characterizing the latter day period of time (Matthew 24:7), and Revelation 7:5-6 prophesies that food shortages will be severe in the latter days. This latter prophecy indicates that food supplies may be rationed by price; meaning those with money will survive and those without money will starve. Can you imagine what the crime rate will be when there literally isn’t enough food left to save everyone in nations or cities around the world? I do not know when this will occur in the latter-day sequence of end-time prophecies, but it will come. Please contact me at shards@cogcw.org ]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[This post is to remind long-time readers (and inform new readers to my blog) about a large artifact that exists in New Mexico which is evidence that Hebrew-speaking people were present in North America in very ancient historical contexts. In a remote location in New Mexico is a large stone slab with the Ten Commandments inscribed on it in ancient Paleo-Hebrew letters. This very ancient Hebrew script was used during the reigns of Kings David and Solomon, and it looks very different than the post-exilic square Hebrew letters that were developed during the Babylonian captivity period after the exile of the tribes of Israel from the Promised Land. I personally visited the site with a group of epigraphers in 1999. If you do a web-search regarding this artifact, you will find a variety of sites and the opinions of “experts” who deny that the artifact is a very ancient example of a Paleo-Hebrew inscription. All kinds of theories will be offered to deny the obvious fact of what it is. Since it is written in the Hebrew language of the ancient Kings of Israel and Judah, it obviously dates to that time. Indeed, it is “smoking gun” evidence of that fact. However, affirming the obvious would be an admission that the Bible has accurate historical information in it and it would be a major blow to the evolutionary-dominated theories that permeate modern education and academia. The <a href="https://stevenmcollins.com/decalogue-stone/">first link</a> offers much information about the artifact itself and its correct historical context, but there is a website for a New Mexico Epigraphic Society which no longer exists and the photo library about the Los Lunas artifact (which was on a link to that group’s website) is no longer an active link. The <a href="https://www.newmexico.org/listing/los-lunas-decalogue-stone-and-commandments-rock/7744/">second link</a> shows the inscribed stone slab next to a human adult to give readers a sense of the slab’s size. Let us review some key (and obvious) conclusions: (A) the fact that the inscription is written in ancient Hebrew confirms the inscription was made by Hebrew-speakers, (B) the fact that it is in the very ancient Paleo-Hebrew script confirms that it was made in the time period when that script was used by Hebrew speakers in the pre-exilic period, (C) that it is present in North America proves these ancient Hebrew-speakers were present in very ancient North America, (D) that the inscription is a recitation of the Ten Commandments given to Moses shows that these ancient Hebrew speakers were devotees of the biblical Torah commandments they inscribed on the stone slab. As is stated in the first link and <a href="https://stevenmcollins.com/steven-collins-vs-steven-collins-re-the-los-lunas-decalogue-stone/">third link</a>, there is only one time in ancient Israelite history when such an inscription could have been made. It had to be at a time when the ancient Israelite kingdom(s) were powerful and rich enough to finance such an expedition to a location half-way around the world, and it had to be at a time when devotion to the God of the Bible and Torah law permeated Israelite society to the point that even sailors and explorers thousands of miles from home proclaimed the Ten Commandments on a stone slab (instead of a “Kilroy was here” kind of graffiti).聽 There is only one period of time in the biblical narratives that the above factors were in place for this Los Lunas inscription to be made: the reign of the famous King Solomon. The initial decades of his reign were a time of global peace and breathtaking wealth for the Israelite kingdom which then was composed of all the twelve tribes of Israel. King Hiram of Tyre (apparently the chief of the Phoenician city-states, formed a very strong alliance with Kings David and Solomon (I Kings 5 and II Chronicles 8:18). The Phoenician/Israelite ports on the Mediterranean Sea gave ready access to the Atlantic Ocean, and it is known the Phoenicians operated tin mines in the British Isles). I Kings 9:26-27 and II Chronicles 8:17-18 relate that Solomon built a seaport at Etzion-Geber (modern Aqaba on the Red Sea) which gave access to the Indian and Pacific Oceans. These scriptures also reveal that the Israelites under Solomon and the Phoenicians under King Hiram were such close allies that they jointly crewed their combined navies. Solomon’s reign was a time of peace and world trade during his righteous years and II Chronicles 9:21 records Solomon had his navies take specimens of exotic animals from other continents (such as apes and peacocks). That verse also asserts Solomon’s navy returned every three years so its voyages were clearly far-flung. The Americas were known for centuries to the biblical civilizations. Ancient Hebrew inscriptions have been found in America in other locations and the ancient copper mines in the Lake Michigan region were carbon-dated to have been worked to exhaustion circa 1000 B.C., which is the time of King David and Solomon when they were accumulating immeasurable quantities of copper for Solomon’s Temple and his other major building projects (I Chronicles 22:14-16). Much more evidence about the greatness of the ancient Israelite kingdoms and the modern locations of all the tribes of Israel (Genesis 49 and Revelation 7 prophesy all the tribes will be present on earth among the nations in the latter days of our current age) are available in my four printed books and my E-book which can be obtained at the <a href="https://stevenmcollins.com/">home page of my website</a>. The information they contain will give you a whole new perspective on ancient history and modern events. A couple more details must be mentioned. The third link offers information about a doppelganger of mine being confused with me regarding the conclusions regarding the Los Lunas inscriptions. That person had different opinions on the Los Lunas stone than me so be aware of this if you do web searches for my name. Not every “Steven Collins” is me. <ol> <li>Finally, I have often stated in conversations with others about internet reports that none of them “are under oath.” However, my conclusions about the Los Lunas inscriptions are supported by a court trial wherein the evidence presented was “under oath.” The trial was conducted in Albuquerque, New Mexico in December, 1986, and it resulted from some inscribed stones that seemed to be in an ancient language similar to the Los Lunas stone’s inscription. Some people asserted the newly-found stones were inscribed in a kind of Greek script which could perhaps mean the Los Lunas Ten Commandments stone might be from a Greek script and a different time context. Disputes arose about the correctness of the collective inscriptions and whether the newly-found inscribed stones were genuine or hoaxes. This trial is examined in great detail in an article entitled An Epigraphic Hoax on Trial in New Mexico, as cited in the 1988 volume of the Epigraphic Society Occasional Publications (ESOP). Expert testimony from ancient Hebrew linguistic scholars presented in that trial proved conclusively that the so-called “Greek inscribed stones” were modern hoaxes in a phony pseudo-Greek format and that the Los Lunas Ten Commandments stone was genuinely Paleo-Hebrew (which includes the time of David and Solomon). I could not find the aforementioned article on the internet, but I did find a digitized Table of Contents of the cited ESOP volume (<a href="http://www.equinox-project.com/vol17.htm">fourth link</a>). The referenced article begins on p. 206. Oh yes, considerable money was involved in the trial cited above and the ESOP article cited above reported that the jury found the hoaxer (who had presented the phony “Greek” explanation for the “inscribed stones” and the Los Lunas slab) guilty of nine counts of fraud and one count of tax evasion. The article adds that hoaxer received a 15-year prison sentence. Remember these facts whenever you see someone saying or writing that the Los Lunas slab’s inscription is anything other than very ancient Paleo-Hebrew script. That conclusion has already been adjudicated. </li> </ol> The true history of the world will not be found in the politically-correct, God-rejecting content of modern historical works and academic journals. The more that facts are unearthed or found from the ancient world, the more the narratives of the Bible are affirmed. As you will see in this post, the development of this warplane may have been the source of some UFO reports. It needs to be stressed that this is not a warplane that exists only on the drawing board. It has been fully developed and tested, and it is going into mass production soon. Boeing won the contract to build this plane in a competition with Lockheed. The <a href="https://tjvnews.com/2025/03/boeing-to-build-secretive-future-fighter-jet-trump-announces/">first link</a> reports that the plane has been flying in various testing formats for the last five years! It has actually been in secret development stages for the last 11 years. If it really has been kept secret from enemy spies, it would be a most impressive accomplishment! Not only does the new warplane have advanced stealth capabilities, it also features something entirely new in war platforms. It is designed to work with fleets of unmanned drones on all kinds of military missions. It is known that the US military has been working with “swarm” technology which involves autonomous or semi-autonomous unmanned drones. The F-47 is reportedly “wired” to work with these drone swarms of unmanned weaponry. It also reports, without details, that the F-47 uses an advanced new form of propulsion. This new fighter surely had hundreds of test flights over the USA to make sure all systems were ready for a contract to build a fleet of F-47s. The <a href="https://www.slashgear.com/1816355/new-boeing-f-47-fighter-jet-6th-generation/">second link</a> informs us the initial contract for these new fighters will cost $20 billion, and if the plane works well, I have little doubt more follow-on orders will be in the offing. The second link also gives more information about the unmanned drones that will be linked to the F-47s. It reports the new drones can work with the F-47 in electronic warfare and missile launch missions. I also have no doubt that the unmanned drones have the weaponry to intercept incoming enemy planes and eliminate them before they get within range of the F-47s. The <a href="https://aviationweek.com/defense/aircraft-propulsion/boeing-wins-us-air-forces-ngad-f-47-fighter-contract">third link</a> adds that the enhanced stealth capabilities of the F-47 involve the internal carriage of all fuel, sensors and weaponry. This will limit the plane’s detectability a considerable amount over current warplanes in the US military inventory. The <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/03/21/air-force-boeing-f-47-fighter-jet/82594870007/">fourth link</a> cites one additional, important piece of information. It relates that the F-47 will not only be the most advanced warplane ever, but that it will also be cheaper to build than current planes in the USAF inventory. It seems apparent that the F-47 will have be just a USAF plane; not one variant of a group of similar models that would include naval warplanes too. I’m sure the technologies invented for the F-47 will be included in the next US Navy warplanes, but making the F-47 just an air force plane will reduce costs and make the plane simpler to maintain. One weakness of the F-35 is that it was built as a hybrid to be both an air force and a naval carrier warplane. That complicates matters as naval F-35s have to be built in the same air frame as the USAF F-35s, but naval variants need a much more durable undercarriage and equipment due to the need for carrier landings. As an American, I’m delighted to learn about his new warplane which will now go into production. It should add to the US deterrent forces to prevent future wars. It is entirely possible that AI applications will be hard-wired into the F-47s and their accompanying drones. Now, how does the unveiling of this warplane result in possible UFO reports? I think it is obvious. The F-47 has been in development for 14 years and has been flying test flights for the last five years, and some of these test flights have certainly been witnessed by civilians on the ground. The exact shape and contours of the new F-47 have not yet been fully revealed so this new fighter may not have been recognized as a traditional warplane by many observers. This could cause it to be reported as a UFO. Also, since it has advanced stealth technologies, it may be that this fighter is as silent as one can make a plane to perform. The fact that it has advanced propulsion technologies raises all kinds of questions related to UFO sightings. Most warplanes are very loud with standard jet engine propulsions. It appears the F-47 has a new or at least modified propulsion system. It may not only be very silent and very hard to detect on radar, its new propulsion system may enable it to fly in manners previous warplanes could not do. Does this new F-47 have some kind of magnetism-based propulsion system which might be entirely silent and enable the F-47 to make maneuvers which no other plane can do? If witnesses on the ground saw such test flights, they would have little idea how to even report what they saw and heard, hence having the test flights of prototypes of the F-47 be reported as UFOs. Another aspect of the F-47’s capabilities could also easily lead to UFO reports. The F-47 has been developed to operate on missions accompanied by a new type of unmanned military drones. While F-47s are limited in the G-force they can handle in flight operations due to the human bodily limitations of the pilots, the unmanned family of new military drones have no such G-force limitations. These unmanned drones could make 45 degree angle turns, make sudden accelerations and other types of maneuvers no manned warplane could do. The combined test flights of F-47s with the new unmanned drones could have had pilots in F-47s controlling the maneuvers of the drones which could make sudden accelerations, 45 degree angle turns and other maneuvers which would have seemed like science-fiction aerial actions to civilian ground observers who were left without words to describe what they saw. Such sightings could have easily been classified as UFO reports. Daniel 12:1-4 prophesied that in the latter days of our current age, “many shall run to and fro,” and “knowledge shall be increased.” The Hebrew word translated “Increased” in Daniel 12:4 is the same word used to describe how the flood waters rose on the earth during the flood in Noah’s time (Genesis 7:17) In other words, it prophesies the latter days will witness an exponential, unimaginable increase in mankind’s level of knowledge to build new technologies. That has happened in the 20th and 21st centuries, and the F-47’s technologies move the current level of human technology to a higher level yet. Isaiah 1-4 is also a prophecy about the latter days, and Isaiah 2:7 states that Isaiah “saw” in his vision (Isaiah 2:1) that humanity in the latter days would have “no end to their chariots.” In seeing a vision of our time, Isaiah would have seen endless millions of automobiles, trucks, SUVs, etc. The only word he could use for a constructed means of personal conveyance would be to call them “chariots.” This fits with Daniel 12:4 which prophesies that “many will run to and fro,” In other words, a means of rapid transportation would be available to the masses as聽 a means of rapid transportation. This can only be a prophecy about the ubiquitous presence of automobiles and other motored vehicles in our latter day period of time.. In conclusion, the F-47 represents a higher level of fulfillment of Daniel 12:1-4 and Isaiah 2:1-7 that has not been previously present on the earth. It also means the USA is going to be more militarily strong than any of us had realized would be the case. Given the stresses and wars in global geopolitics, it is likely that some nations will ignore the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty due to the overriding need to protect their nations from nuclear-armed aggressors. The <a href="https://asiatimes.com/2025/02/the-nuclear-consequences-of-ukraine-losing-the-war/?utm_source=The+Daily+Report&utm_campaign=37c4733e71-DAILY_27_02_2025&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_1f8bca137f-37c4733e71-31566629&mc_cid=37c4733e71&mc_eid=8ba140d851#">first link</a> offers good insights on the growing pressures on many nations to develop their own nuclear weapons. It focuses on an agreement between Russia and Ukraine that was implemented after the break-up of the USSR. Ukraine originally inherited a certain percentage of the USSR’s nuclear weapons, but they (foolishly) relied on international guarantees that they could give their nukes to Russia for “dismantling” and that Russia would recognize Ukraine’s borders. Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and 2022, and the world community has not forced Russia to keep its agreements. In retrospect , Ukraine should have kept its share of Soviet nukes. If it had done so, Russia would surely have not invaded Ukraine. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has made it painfully obvious that if non-nuclear nations want to protect themselves from nuclear-armed nations, they must have nuclear weapons of their own. This reality begs two questions; Did Russia really dismantle and destroy the Soviet nukes that Ukraine sent to it, and did Ukraine really give all its nukes to Russia or did it retain some for an ultimate defense option? The link lists the current known members of the Nuclear Club as the USA, Russia, the UK, France, China, India, Israel, Pakistan, and North Korea. There are a number of nations that now urgently need nuclear weapons of their own as they are endangered by hostile, nuclear-armed nations and the reliability of the “nuclear shield” offered by the USA, the UK and France may not be sufficient for national protection. The <a href="https://asiatimes.com/2025/03/alarmed-by-trump-south-korea-mulls-japan-style-nuclear-latency/?utm_source=The+Daily+Report&utm_campaign=fc1894f1bd-DAILY_17_03_2025&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_1f8bca137f-fc1894f1bd-31566629&mc_cid=fc1894f1bd&mc_eid=8ba140d851#">second link</a> focuses on the vulnerability of South Korea as it is threatened by nuclear-armed Russia, China and North Korea. It cites “alarm” in South Korea about the reliability of the American nuclear shield over South Korea in light of current world events. The <a href="https://apnews.com/article/poland-duda-nuclear-52c2d921645154539a7778b11d92554b?user_email=1bb5bae2fa018f8f383f58bb0f50298e01b91f994fbe23068ed7dcf86c4c9509&utm_medium=Morning_Wire&utm_source=Sailthru_AP&utm_campaign=Morning%20Wire">third link</a> reports that Poland’s government is inviting the USA to base American nuclear weapons on Polish soil as an added deterrence to a Russian invasion. The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poland_and_weapons_of_mass_destruction">fourth link</a> has a surprising admission. It states that after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, “the then leader of Poland’s governing party has stated he would like Poland to acquire nuclear weapons…”聽 Poland is bordered by Belarus (a Russian vassal), and Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave. Seeing that Russia felt emboldened to invade Ukraine, a non-nuclear nation, Poland’s desire to have nuclear weapons of its own is obvious. The <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy83r93l208o? at_campaign_type=owned&at_medium=emails&at_objective=awareness&at_pt_type=email&at_pt_name=Salesforce&at_campaign=newsbriefingpm&at_email_send_date=20250311&at_send_id=4306787&at_link_title=https%3a%2f%2fwww.bbc.com%2fnews%2farticles%2fcy83r93l208o&at_bbc_team=crm">fifth link</a> relates that Poland now has a plan for intensive military training for all its male citizens so the Polish army could be quickly scaled up to 500,000 soldiers with little notice. Poland has been beefing up its conventional military force for years, purchasing many weapons platforms from the USA and South Korea. As readers no doubt know, US President Trump has been urging and/or demanding that European NATO nations spend much more on building up their own military forces to protect the NATO nations. Trump pushed such actions in his first term, and has intensified it in his second term. Most nations (with the notable exceptions of Poland and the Baltic nations) largely ignored Trump. Now that Trump’s second term is beginning with the very dangerous and costly Ukraine-Russian war in its third year, more European nations are paying attention to their need to increase their military forces substantially. President Trump is now getting his way. Germany has been one of the laggard nations when it comes to their national defense. On a percentage of GNP basis, Germany, France, the UK, Italy and Spain have all been largely ignoring their need for funding serious military forces. Germany may be coming out of its slumber on this matter. Germany recently had an election and the presumptive new Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, is considering a “nuclear-sharing” agreement with fellow NATO members France and the UK (<a href="https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/possible-next-german-chancellor-does-not-rule-out-nuclear-sharing-talks-with-france-uk/3489288">sixth link</a> and <a href="https://www.euractiv.com/section/politics/news/merz-considers-extension-of-french-british-nuclear-umbrella-to-germany/">seventh link</a>). Would such a nuclear-sharing agreement transfer control of some of the British and French nukes to German control? Russia would be passionately against such an option, but Russia invited such a possibility when it invaded Ukraine, a non-nuclear nation. I think the realization is growing throughout the world community that there are two classes of nations: nuclear-armed nations and those who have no nuclear arms. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has made it blindingly obvious that nuclear-armed nations can be predator nations while non-nuclear nations can be seen as prey. South Korea, Japan and Taiwan are nations which are located in the same region of the world and all three are threatened by Russia, China and North Korea. Unless they have nuclear weapons, they can be seen as prey nations. Let’s consider South Korea first. The <a href="https://stevenmcollins.com/are-south-korea-and-the-uae-partners-in-building-nuclear-weapons/">eighth link</a> and <a href="https://stevenmcollins.com/are-south-korea-and-the-uae-partners-in-building-nuclear-weapons/">ninth link</a> examine the likelihood that South Korea has partnered with the UAE for years to jointly develop nuclear weapons. There is no doubt that South Korea has the technology to easily assemble nuclear weapons and that the UAE has the money to bankroll such a project. South Korea has to protect itself from Russia, China and North Korea, and the Sunni UAE has need of a nuclear program to counter Shiite Iran’s program to develop nuclear weapons. It would not surprise me at all if South Korea and the UAE joined the Nuclear Club years ago, but have chosen to remain silent about it (at least publicly).聽 The <a href="https://stevenmcollins.com/does-japan-already-have-nuclear-weapons">tenth link</a> examines the likelihood Japan has nuclear weapons already. Japan also has the technology and access to uranium/plutonium to build nuclear weapons. I have cited in my blog posts the opinions of other sources who have asserted that Japan actually has the nuclear warheads built and that it only needs to affix those warheads to rockets and missiles to have a substantial number of nuclear weapons almost “overnight.” Nuclear bombs delivered by aircraft would be quite feasible. Japan is a special case because its post WW-2 Constitution was a pacifist document but allowed for self defense. Threatened by nuclear armed Russia, China and North Korea, Japan has an obvious need for a significant number of nuclear weapons to deter aggression against Japan. Needing only minutes to fully attach nuclear warheads to delivery platforms to have functional nuclear weapons, Japan has been likened to being only “a screwdriver’s turn” away from being a major nuclear power. I believe that describes Japan’s situation rather well. What about Taiwan? It badly needs a nuclear deterrent of its own to minimize the risk of an attack by China. One hears very little about Taiwan’s efforts to prepare for a Chinese attack. When the USSR collapsed in 1990, there was much talk for awhile about “loose nukes” because, reportedly, Soviet generals were not being paid any longer and they sold Soviet nukes to pay themselves and their troops. Some nukes were larger, but there were also reports of suitcase nukes being sold on the black market. That would have been an ideal time for Taiwan (or anyone else) to obtain nukes without any publicity. Taiwan would have had every motivation to obtain nukes at that time without having to build a visible nuclear weapons infrastructure. While doing research for this post, I came across an interesting piece of information about Taiwan and nuclear weapons. I have a book entitled, The Nuclear Axis, by Barbara Rogers and Zdenek Cervenka. This book bears a copyright date of 1978. While focusing on the efforts by South Africa’s Apartheid government to obtain nuclear weapons, it also details many clandestine efforts by Israel and other nations to build nuclear weapons. It names the national and international leaders who had roles in clandestine nuclear weapons programs around the world. On page 272 it asserts that there were five nations which were considered then to be “near nuclear states.” One was South Africa which later admitted it had a small number of nuclear warheads, but later chose to dismantle them. I still have a newspaper article from the April 8, 1995 Sioux Falls Argus-Leader, which reprints an AP source that “Former President F.W. de Klerk revealed [that]…the six bombs that had been constructed were dismantled.” Were they really dismantled or is South Africa still a small nuclear power (<a href="https://isis-online.org/publications/southafrica/ir0594.html">eleventh link</a>)? We do not know. Now back to Taiwan. The above-mentioned 1978 book includes this statement on page 272: “Considering that at least three states–Israel, Taiwan and India–are generally accepted as being already in possession of nuclear explosives...” (Emphasis added). If this statement was accurate in 1978, it means Taiwan has been a member of the Nuclear Club for over four decades. If true, Taiwan isn’t saying how many nukes it has manufactured (or bought) over the decades. It is a high-tech nation that can easily design and make nuclear weapons, so why wouldn’t it do so given the extreme threat it faces from China? The above information has biblical relevance. Jesus Christ prophesied in Matthew 24:22 that “except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved.” He was referring to the latter days preceding his Second Coming in that chapter so his statement indicates his return will occur earlier than expected on latter-day timetables. The phrase “no flesh should be saved” is instructive. This prophetic statement means not just all humans would be destroyed, but also that all animals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles and anything made of “flesh” would perish in a planetary destruction. A global nuclear war could turn into an Extinction Level Event. I’m not predicting that prophecy will be fulfilled by a massive nuclear war, but it is one realistic possibility. There may be a significant number of nations which are now members of the Nuclear Club, but they have not admitted or proclaimed it in the interests of maintaining secrecy. The Apostle Paul was right on target when he prophesied in II Timothy 3:1 that the latter days of our current age would be “perilous times.”   <ol> <li><a A cargo ship hit a fuel tanker vessel amidships and both ships were set ablaze. Both ships and their cargoes appear to be total losses. Maritime collisions periodically occur and many have causes involving weather problems, equipment malfunctions or incompetent crew actions. However, when looked at carefully this particular collision may not have been an accident. The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nJIJCxbRkM">first link</a> shows the extensive blaze that was ignited when the cargo ship, Solong, rammed the tanker, Stena Immaculate.The second link offers a very detailed maritime investigation of this collision. It has many facts in it the general media articles omitted. The oil tanker was stationary and was anchored in a fixed position. Despite a foggy condition, the cargo ship proceeded at a relatively high rate of speed and “T-boned” the tanker after steering straight at it. Various media sources report the tanker was, literally, “rammed” by the cargo ship. As is reported on the second link, the cargo ship “ran straight into” the anchored tanker ship. The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a03EAv2vZO8">second link</a> also offers a chart which, based on transponder records,聽 shows the actions and movements of all ships in the region where the collision occurred. It also traces many recent voyages of the offending ship, the Solong, which confirms that it was very familiar with that region and its sea lanes. It also reports that due to the fog, the captain and crew of the Solong should have been carefully monitoring its radars and the collision avoidance alarms should have sounded on its bridge long before the collision occurred. Had those alarms been heeded or if the radars had been watched, this collision could easily have been avoided. The sea maps marking the position of every ship in the area show this was a maritime region with many ships –some at anchor near the tanker ship, and others in motion. Another pertinent fact is that the tanker ship, the Stena Immaculate, was chartered to the US Defense Department, and it was hauling aviation gasoline for US military purposes. In looking at the overall body of facts, the second link observes “this seems suspicious.” I agree. Let’s ask some telling questions. Why didn’t the offending ship, the Solong, slow down in spite of the fog? Was the collision avoidance alarm on its bridge operable? If it voiced an alarm, why did the bridge crew ignore it and continue to steer straight at an anchored ship?聽 Was it a coincidence that the offending ship managed to hit what was likely the only ship in that maritime region with a US military cargo onboard? Why did the offending ship apparently make no attempt whatsoever to avoid the anchored and motionless ship, but, rather, aimed straight at it until it rammed directly into its side? This looks like a very intentional and deliberate ramming to me. Consider also the recent backdrop of events in northern European waters which have featured what appear to be attacks against NATO nations. A number of communications cables linking Scandinavian NATO nations with mainland European NATO nations have been cut or damaged in the Baltic Sea. The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyz7nSAKF9E">third link</a> details these cable cuttings and offers good evidence that Russian and Chinese cargo ships of various kinds have been present on the surface at the time the cables were cut. This logically results in a conclusion that anchors were lowered and dragged on the bottom surface of the Baltic Sea to strike and damage these sea-cables between NATO nations. If these are not acts of war, they are certainly practice efforts at cutting communications between NATO nations in time of actual war. It is very noteworthy that China was cited as helping Russia in this anti-NATO action. Was China practicing this tactic for use against Taiwan? The NATO nations obviously need to have wireless atmospheric communications networks to replace the sea-cables if they are cut in the future.聽 The <a href="https://subtelforum.com/alaska-communications-subsea-cable-breaks-in-southeast-alaska/">fourth link</a> even examines an incident in Alaskan waters where an undersea cable was damaged. It is very hard sometimes to know who is really “giving the orders” on civilian merchant ships. It may be built in one nation, home-ported in another nation, crewed by sailors from a variety of nations and chartered by an additional nation for various purposes. A thorough investigation is needed. The USA is, of course, a NATO nation, and the Scandinavian and Northern European nations harmed by the severed or damaged sea-cables are all NATO nations. Do you think it can be a coincidence that all the harmed nations just happened to be NATO nations? I don’t think so. Consider a late-breaking fact that has emerged as I am writing this blog post. The <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8d4yg1107vo">fifth link</a> cites the activities of the rammed ship’s crew after the ramming and their need to abandon ship. One sailor said the offending ship “came out of the blue,” The <a href="https://news.sky.com/story/captain-of-solong-container-ship-involved-in-north-sea-crash-is-russian-national-company-says-13326888">sixth link</a> and <a href="https://apnews.com/article/north-sea-ships-collide-russian-captain-d4a984f46fc00d0e7b96ec0820a9b836">seventh link</a> reveals the captain of the offending ship, the Solong, was a Russian as were a significant part of his ship’s crew (the rest were Filipino). The Russian captain has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence (one sailor is dead). I would suggest that there need to be more charges directed at this Russian ship’s captain who drove his ship directly into an anchored ship hauling aviation gasoline to the US military. There is nothing in the known facts so far which indicates this ramming could have been accidental. The final link notes the UK authorities “find no evidence of foul play” in this matter. I suggest that the facts indicate that they must not be looking very hard yet. I hope this doesn’t turn into a cover-up.聽 Consider also the contents of the rammed ship with aviation gas on board for the US military. Obviously, it was intended to be delivered to US (or allied) military bases where warplanes are flown. Many media articles have reported that the USA and Israel may soon launch a pre-emptive attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and a great deal of aviation gasoline would be needed to fuel all the warplanes used by the USA and Israel on such a mission. Were US and Israeli military bases in the Mideast the intended destinations for this rammed ship with the now lost cargo of aviation fuel?聽 Could Iran or its allies–Russia and China– have arranged this ramming of an anchored ship in a “kamikaze”-style attack to prevent the aviation gas to be delivered to US or allied forces in the Mideast or elsewhere?聽 Some media articles have opined that the aviation gas cargo was destined for England to supply US warplanes based there. I suggest that the USA has relatively few warplanes still based in the United Kingdom and the ones that are based in the UK hardly need an entire tanker load of aviation gas to supply them. It is important to ask: Where was the aviation gas on this tanker heading for? What was the ultimate destination for this vessel carrying American aviation fuel? Did Russia take an overt action to prevent or delay an American/Israeli air attack vs. Iran? The investigation should ask such questions. I think what we are seeing is a coordinated set of actions by Russia, China and Iran to harm the Western nations against whom they are intending to act at a future time. Biblical prophecy would certainly agree this is very possible. Ezekiel 38-39 [have you noticed how often I mention this pivotal latter-day prophecy?] prophesies that a Gog-Magog alliance will attack an alliance of nations led by “Israel” at the very end of the latter-day period in which we now live. Many scholars and students of biblical prophecies accurately identify our time as the “latter days,” in which the events of Ezekiel 38-39 will occur (see Ezekiel 38:8 and 16). Many also rightly identify the Gog-Magog alliance as the nations of Russia, China, Iran, and their allies. However, only a few correctly identify the targeted alliance: latter-day “Israel” and its allies. In biblical terminology, the term “Israel” applies to the modern descendants of the ten ten tribes of Israel, whose ancestors once populated the biblical kingdom of “Israel” with its capital at Samaria. The ancient kingdom of Israel was non-Jewish. Let that sink in. The ancient Jews lived in the southern kingdom of Judah, with its capital at Jerusalem. If one does not accurately identify the modern descendants of the ten tribes of Israel, one cannot understand Ezekiel 38-39 correctly. The ten tribes of Israel are prophesied to be present among the nations in the latter days, according to Genesis 49 and Revelation 7. You will not find them in obscure little remnants of Asian tribes with a few vestigial Jewish customs because the Israelites were not Jewish at the time they went into exile from the Promised Land. One needs to look for them among the larger nations because Hosea 1, a chapter about God’s intention to soon exile the ten tribes from their kingdom in the Promised Land, states in verse 10 that even though God will exile all the ten tribes into new locations, the population of the ten tribes of Israel will be so increased after their exile that they will be too numerous to count. The <a href="https://tjvnews.com/2025/02/iran-on-high-alert-as-fears-mount-over-potential-u-s-israeli-attack/">first link</a> has a map showing the locations of a dozen Iranian targets important to the Iranian nuclear weapons program. The first link does acknowledge that there are also other Iranian targets which “no one knows about.” If the first link mentions openly that such “secret” sites exist, I’d be willing to bet that the Israelis know about them. The first link also lists Iranian retaliation options to a pre-emptive strike, but that list omits one possibility I see as highly likely if the USA joins Israel in attacking Iranian nuclear sites (both the USA and Israel have often stated that Iran cannot be allowed to possess nuclear weapons). If there is a joint American-Israeli attack on Iran, I think that it is possible that Iran will activate sleeper cells already inside the USA to conduct terrorist attacks inside the USA’s borders. Many Iranians crossed into the USA during Biden’s “open borders” policy. I’ve seen media articles that thousands of Iranians came into the USA without sufficient vetting. How many were covert terrorists sent by Iran to have them pre-placed inside the USA? The <a href="https://tjvnews.com/2025/02/is-israel-preparing-to-strike-irans-nuclear-sites/">second link</a> asserts that Iran is very close to refining enough uranium to weapons-grade status to have several nuclear bombs. What is not publicly discussed is “How big would Iran’s initial nuclear weapons be? Such bombs have to be small to be carried on Iran’s missiles or available warplanes. Could Iran even fly a nuclear bomb to Israeli territory without the Iranian plane transporting it being shot down long before it reaches Israel? Israel has an exceptionally good air defense system, and Iran’s air force is obsolescent unless it has received modern warplanes from Russia or China. Technically, an Iranian nuclear weapon too big to be carried on a missile or warplane could be placed in a merchant ship flying a false flag and have that ship sail through the Suez Canal to an Israeli port where the nuke would be detonated. This method is well within Iranian abilities to accomplish. The <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/iran-tests-trump-regime-general-says-wipe-israel-off-map?dicbo=v4-GgGTOYT-1088916728-1" class="broken_link">third link</a> cites a top Iranian general repeating Iran’s intention to annihilate the nation of Israel. I think Iran is quite serious in that intention. Given that fact, Israel cannot afford to wait too long to launch a pre-emptive strike to prevent Iran from nuking Israel. The <a href="https://tjvnews.com/2025/03/us-authorizes-2-billion-sale-of-2000-pound-bombs-to-israel/">fourth link</a> reports that President Trump is selling to Israel a very large number of heavy bombs (35,529) that American and Israeli warplanes can carry. Trump also authorized the delivery to Israel of 4,000 “penetrator warheads.” That title informs me that these weapons are shaped charges designed to penetrate a considerable amount of rock and/or concrete before exploding. This is exactly the type of warhead Israel needs to attack Iran’s concealed nuclear sites. President Biden is cited as refusing to deliver these types of weapons to Israel; which served to delay Israel’s pre-emptiness strike. Now that Trump has authorized their delivery to Israel, Israel will be ready to launch air strikes vs. Iran’s nuclear sites as soon as the weapons are received by Israel. The <a href="https://tjvnews.com/2025/03/iranian-nuclear-progress-goes-much-further-than-uranium/">fifth link</a> comments on the expansiveness of Iran’s nuclear program. The current state of the peace process between Israel and Hamas is very problematic. The first phase is due to expire soon, but the negotiations to implement a second phase have not yet begun according to what I have seen in media accounts. During the first phase, Israel has received tiny incremental numbers of its hostages (plus some dead bodies of hostages) from Hamas in exchange for thousands of Hamas terrorists and Palestinian personnel held in Israeli prisons. What I have not heard in any media report is the fact that by releasing thousands of Hamas personnel from Israeli prisons and giving them back to Hamas, Israel is actually reinforcing the military strength of Hamas as many of those Palestinian prisoners released will reinforce the ranks of Hamas fighters sworn to destroy Israel. If the hostages for prisoners exchanges cease, I fear Israel will never see some of its hostages alive again. Reports by released Israelis that Hamas starved and tortured Israeli hostages are sure to inflame Israeli rage at Hamas. Indeed, Israel reportedly has plans to again invade Gaza with 50,000 troops with the goal of “eradicating Hamas” (<a href="https://tjvnews.com/2025/02/israel-to-resume-war-in-gaza-and-eradicate-hamas-cutting-off-aid-and-bombarding-strip-with-troops/">sixth link</a>). The numerous heavy bombs and penetrator warheads being sent by the USA to Israel could also be used to destroy the Hamas tunnel system in Gaza. A wider war is still possible between Hamas and Israel. The <a href="https://tjvnews.com/2025/02/idf-seizes-hamas-plans-for-mass-attack-in-judea-samaria-and-central-israel/https://tjvnews.com/2025/02/idf-seizes-hamas-plans-for-mass-attack-in-judea-samaria-and-central-israel/">seventh link</a> reports Israel captured Hamas plans to launch a major attack vs. the Israelis in Judea, Samaria and Central Israel. That means such an attack would be against civilian Israeli settlements in what is also called the West Bank as well as cities and towns in the Central Israel region. I recall in August, 2000 being in the Israeli town of Shilo (biblical Shiloh) as well as a nearby settlement which was just being established on a hilltop. The Israeli settlers are armed, but they would need IDF support against a large Iranian-armed Hamas attack launched from the West Bank. Hopefully, being forewarned means the Israelis will be forearmed against such an attack. Israel also has to protect against fifth columns inside its own population. The <a href="https://tjvnews.com/2025/03/beersheva-resident-indicted-for-attempting-to-sell-nuclear-info-to-iran/">eighth link</a> reports on a case where someone inside Israel was charged with spying for Iran. Reportedly, this person was intent on giving Iran information about Israel’s own nuclear facility at Dimona, Israel. The Israelis have been greatly helped by the return of President Trump to the White House. He is firmly pro-Israeli whereas President Biden dithered between the two sides, and Biden refused to approve shipping heavy bombs to the Israelis. The <a href="https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/poll-israel-favorability/2025/02/27/id/1200792/?ns_mail_uid=e16ffdcd-5e20-4197-a65a-b2f4dcbfa55a&ns_mail_job=DM758409_02282025&s=acs&dkt_nbr=010504ssj7ca" class="broken_link">ninth link</a> gives an insight into the current political persuasions inside the USA toward Israel. A recent poll shows that while an overwhelming 83% of Republicans support the Israelis, a majority (60%) of Democrats now see Israel unfavorably. I expect these trends to continue. The Bible’s prophecies give us a general prediction of how any new Israeli wars or military actions will unfold. We live in the prophetic “latter days” prophesied in the Bible, and modern Jews/Israelis are identified as “Judah” in biblical prophecies. Genesis 49:1 is a latter day prophecy about all the tribes of Israel in the latter days. Verses 8-12 are about the tribe of Judah and verses 8-9 foretell Judah will be militaristic and victorious in the latter days period. That has been true ever since the Israeli Independence War in 1948, and I expect this prophecy will continue to govern outcomes in Middle East warfare. Zephaniah 2:1-11 prophesy that Judah will be protected by God in the latter days and that He will guarantee their borders against the Jews’ enemies. Zechariah 12:1-9 repeats that same prophetic theme that God will make Jerusalem a “burdensome stone” in the latter days and that all nations who attack Judah and Jerusalem will be defeated by the creator God himself. Zechariah 14 also prophesies that the Creator God will intervene in a war between the Jews/Israelis and an invading army at the end of our age and will utterly destroy the invaders as he ushers in the Messianic Age/Millennial Era. The Israelis have strong, invisible protections against the desires of their enemies to destroy the Jewish nation in the historic Promised Land. Based on biblical prophecies, we can believe that Iran’s desire to “wipe Israel off the map” will never come to pass. <ol> <li><a Please contact me at shards@cogcw.org ]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[I had intended to write on another pressing geopolitical topic, but I felt the unprecedented and strange public spat at the White House between Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and US President Trump and Vice President Vance requires comment as it has raised the question if there is any way forward to a Russian-Ukrainian peace deal or ceasefire. Watching this unfold left me very surprised, but it also reminded me of a biblical passage which I will share at the end of this post. Such important international events featuring heads-of-state usually are choreographed carefully to create positive images that will be given to the public. For days the media had all informed us that the Zelenskyy visit was for the purpose of signing a rare earths/minerals agreement between the USA and Ukraine where both nations would cooperate on developing those resources inside Ukraine. It seemed to be a win-win situation for both nations. It turned into a very public spat between the Ukrainian and American leaders. While Zelenskyy seemed not to grasp the seriousness of his behavior trying to bully Trump, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the USA understood clearly the scope of the disaster that was happening before her eyes as she buried her head in her hands (<a href="https://www.instagram.com/saintjavelin/reel/DGoCyw0IguT/">first link</a>). I think many Ukrainians back in Ukraine will share their ambassador’s reaction. Zelenskyy seemed oblivious to the fact that he was “biting the hand of the one who feeds him.” The USA has given an incomprehensible amount of help to the Ukraine, and Zelenskyy seemed to not care or be thankful much at all. Zelenskyy kept pushing for American security guarantees “on the spot” which was not going to happen as that possibility wasn’t even on that day’s agenda. Zelenskyy also doesn’t help himself by showing up for formal meetings looking like he bought his attire at Good Will Industries. The confrontation can be found in the <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6369451601112" class="broken_link">second link</a>. Not only was the agreed-upon document not signed, a joint press conference was cancelled, a formal meal went uneaten and Trump essentially ordered the Ukrainians to leave the White House. After waiting a short time (perhaps to see if Zelenskyy had a change of heart), Trump flew to Mar-a-Lago. I think Zelenskyy made a major miscalculation. I watched Fox News after the confrontation at the White House and Treasury Secretary Bessent said that when he flew to Kiev to negotiate the deal, Zelenskyy treated him much the same way Zelenskyy treated Trump. He also stated that Zelenskyy said “he’d sign it in Munich,” but later reneged on that statement. I think Zelenskyy thought Trump was so politically desperate for an agreement that Trump could be badgered into adding a security agreement to the minerals deal. Zelenskyy is used to dealing with a senile Joe Biden so Zelenskyy couldn’t have been more wrong about trying to bully Trump. Zelenskyy is dealing with arguably the toughest US president since Harry Truman–who dropped two atomic bombs to end a war. I thought Trump had every reason to feel insulted and disrespected. Zelenskyy also failed to understand that Trump was giving Zelenskyy the maximum help he could at this point in the negotiation to end the Ukraine-Russian war. Trump couldn’t give formal American security agreements to Ukraine–it would have ended the negotiations as Russia would have walked away. What Trump offered was ingenious. If there had been an agreement signed to have American industries develop Ukrainian rare earth minerals, it would have meant billions of dollars in US investment coming into Ukraine, US personnel scouring Ukrainian territory to find desirable mineral deposits and American engineers and employees scattered throughout Ukraine. Does anyone think Trump would not protect American factories, mines, and citizens working inside Ukraine? Of course he would. So what Zelenskyy was offered in the minerals deal was an implicit American security agreement. Did no one explain this to Zelenskyy, or was he too obtuse to accept only an implicit deal? NATO leaders must have been horrified at the White House confrontation. I’m sure they realize that while Trump and the USA do not need Ukraine, the Ukraine desperately needs the USA and Trump. Zelenskyy’s hostility toward Trump could have repercussions in how Trump deals with the EU. After the White House confrontation, Zelenskyy was a guest on a FOX News program hosted by Bret Baier. Mr. Baier offered Zelenskyy repeated chances to apologize for his offensive behavior at the White House, but Zelenskyy refused to do so. Baier asked pointed and necessary questions, but Zelenskyy answered in political circles that did not really answer the questions. As Ukrainians back in Ukraine have a chance to see videos of Zelenskyy offending Ukraine’s most important weapons supplier, they will likely feel like weeping as did the Ukrainian ambassador in the first link. It may be that the only way for any Ukrainian-Russian peace process to continue is for Zelenskyy to resign and elections to be held in Ukraine so a credible, new leader can emerge. While Ukraine’s need for an end to this war have been much discussed, the reasons Russia needs an end to this war aren’t discussed much, but they do exist. Estimates I’ve seen in media reports number Russia’s casualties in the war at perhaps as high as a half million. Russia thought its armored columns would steamroll through Ukraine within a week when it invaded, but Russian intelligence was very flawed. In his first term, President Trump equipped the Ukrainian military with Javelin anti-tank weapons that any infantryman could fire. It was quickly seen that the Javelin missiles were very good tank-killers and they could easily take out any Russian armored vehicles. Russia’s losses have been high, but it is hard to get good numbers. The <a href="https://www.iiss.org/online-analysis/military-balance/2025/02/combat-losses-and-manpower-challenges-underscore-the-importance-of-mass-in-ukraine/">third link</a> makes an attempt, but after reporting that 1400 Russian tanks have been lost, it also has a graph indicating circa 4,000 Russian tanks have been destroyed (and that doesn’t include the many thousands of other types of armored vehicles destroyed). The <a href="https://asiatimes.com/2025/02/collapse-yarn-leaves-out-tech-factor-in-ukraines-sea-and-land-wins/?utm_source=The+Daily+Report&utm_campaign=22cebb77e1-DAILY_28_02_2025&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_1f8bca137f-22cebb77e1-31566629&mc_cid=22cebb77e1&mc_eid=8ba140d851#">fourth link</a> also details how Ukraine has inflicted major damage on Russia in naval warfare. There is one sign that indicates Russia is scraping the bottom of the barrel for reinforcements in this war. Russia has had to import over 10,000 North Korean mercenaries to help fight its war vs. Ukraine. That speaks volumes. There is another reason Russia needs an end to this war. NATO nations are watching very carefully how Russia fights a war and what are Russia’s capabilities and weaknesses. Russia learned early on that its tank and armored forces were already obsolete when facing NATO anti-tank weaponry from the USA, the UK and Sweden. Having a “hot” war raging in Ukraine also gives NATO nations many opportunities to secretly test their latest weaponry against Russian weaponry in combat conditions. Being able to do so gives NATO an advantage. Russia needs to end the war to end this NATO advantage. I’m not going to predict what happens going forward in the Ukraine-Russian negotiations, but I’ll now discuss the biblical passage that came to my mind as watched the utterly unexpected argument at the White House between national leaders from Ukraine and the USA. The passage is in Proverbs 21:1, which states: “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turns it whithersoever he will.” This means simply that God can direct the hearts and minds of rulers in any direction he wants in order to fulfill his prophecies and his will on the earth. God can put into rulers’ hearts to direct nations to do anything he wants them to do. A prime biblical example is how often the Bible says God “hardened Pharaoh’s heart” in the plagues upon Egypt to accomplish God’s purpose in releasing the hosts of Israelite slaves and to have Pharaoh himself lead Egypt into national destruction. Ezekiel 38:10 prophesies that God is going to pick a time in the latter days when the leader of the Gog-Magog alliance will “think an evil thought” and order an attack upon the USA and the nations of the Western world. As Ezekiel 38-39 reveals, God’s purpose is to destroy the nations in the Gog-Magog alliance and to prove to the attacked nations that the Creator God Himself is the source of their prosperity and protection as the Millennial Age dawns. Sometimes national leaders do inexplicable things. President Zelenskyy just did such a thing. We humans are not privy to God’s global plans, but we see in the Bible God can direct leaders to do seemingly odd things to fulfill his will for national futures. The latter days of our age is a time for which God has made many prophecies about nations and human society. This means our time is one where God is likely to increasingly “herd” nations into whatever his will is for them. One of the most provable prophecies in found in Zephaniah 2:1-11. It foretells that in the time near the end of this age, the Jews (“Judah”) will again have a nation in the old Promised Land which will include the coastal region and the city of Ashkelon (verse 7). In 1948, the Jews founded a new nation in the old Promised Land which included the coastal region and the city of Ashkelon. A person would have to be a blind soul indeed to not see a Divine Hand in the specific fulfillment of that ancient prophecy given circa 630 BC. Verses 8-11 prophesies that the people in the nations surrounding that new Jewish nation will persistently try to seize land from the Jewish state and challenge its borders. That also accurately describes the real world situation of what has happened from 1948 to the present. There will surely be more surprises besides the White House Trump-Zelenskyy argument ahead of us as we progress deeper into the latter days of our age. This asteroid has been called a “city killer” in some articles, but it does聽not聽rise to the level of an extinction level event like the impact that wiped out the dinosaurs.聽 The <a href="https://www.newsnationnow.com/space/asteroid-earth-odds-impact/" class="broken_link">first link</a> reviews the gradual rise in the chances that astronomers stated had occurred as time went on. In December, 2024 the space scientists said there was a 1% chance of the asteroid hitting the earth on December 22, 2032. On February 7, 2025 the chances of an impact rose to 2.3% and on February 18, 2025 the asteroid-monitoring astronomers announced the chances had risen to 3.1%. The projected path of the asteroid was even calculated: It could impact the earth somewhere along a line stretching from the Eastern Pacific Ocean across Northern South America, the Atlantic Ocean, Africa, the Arabian Sea and into South Asia. The <a href="https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/city-killer-asteroids-earth-impact-risk-rises-to-highest-ever-recorded/">third link</a> reported that cities in the path of the asteroid included Bogota, Columbia, Lagos, Nigeria and Mumbai, India. That offers considerable specificity. The public began to take notice and the steady rise in the chances of an earth-impacting event was especially worrisome. Then something happened. The <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2025/02/19/asteroid-yr4-hitting-earth-odds-2032-nasa/79167778007/">second link</a> reports that the data was recalculated “overnight” to drop the chance of an earth-impacting event to 1.5%. I wonder what was recalculated? Did the path or speed of the asteroid change? Not likely. Did the earth’s orbital path change? Obviously, the answer is No. That covers the possible variables.聽So what data could have changed? I suspect that the scientific community was “told” that people were getting nervous and they needed to drop the reported odds of an impact to calm the masses. Naming possible cities that could be hit is potentially bad for business and could even start an exodus from the named cities. Therefore, presto-chango, the odds dropped back to 1.5% “overnight.”聽 I doubt that any data actually changed. I suspect that in an effort to quiet growing public fears, the human聽assumptions聽that determine how the data was interpreted changed in a way that the odds dropped back closer to the initial projections. In any statistical calculation, it is possible to “revise” the numerical outcome by tweaking the assumptions that underpin the analysis. After all, there are seven years to watch the asteroid approach earth and a realistic calculation of an earth-impact can be made years from now. What has happened via the sudden reinterpretation of the data is that the general public has essentially been told: “Move on. There is nothing to see here.” We have all seen documentaries about the death of the dinosaurs and that large asteroids (or comets and meteors) inevitably hit earth as the eons go by, and that is impossible to know when such an event could occur. The <a href="https://www.worldtribune.com/chinas-planetary-defense-force-seen-justifying-space-militarization/">fourth link</a> has an interesting tidbit of information. It reports that China is taking the risk of an asteroid hitting the earth in 2032 seriously. The Chinese can also “do the math” regarding the approaching asteroid, and their findings have stimulated China to start a “Planetary Defense Force” to deflect or intercept approaching asteroids. The link notes that China could be using the approach of an asteroid as an excuse to further weaponize space to China’s advantage. That is entirely possible, but these two goals are not mutually exclusive. Having a planetary defense system to deflect or blow up approaching asteroids, meteors and comets is a worthwhile goal. That is why the USA has a team of astronomers who monitor the heavens looking for earth-approaching celestial objects. The Bible also has a specific prophecy聽about two such celestial objects hitting earth in the latter days of our age. Revelation 8:6-13 foretells seven last “trumpet plagues” will occur at the very end of our current age before the return of Jesus Christ to impose Divine rule on planet earth. The first such impact is described in verses 8-9. It describes a “great mountain burning with fire” that impacts into the sea and destroys much sea-life and sinks one-third of the ships in that sea. To have numerous merchant ships in a particular sea, it must be an ocean. Any such impact of a large asteroid into an ocean would cause terrible tsunamis in all directions-sinking ships and destroying structures along coastlines. If you have not seen the movie,聽Deep Impact,聽I urge you to do so. It depicts the efforts that could be undertaken to intercept the approaching asteroid and the panic that would surely ensue. The movie depicts the approaching asteroid as a “burning mountain” that is “cast into the sea”-exactly what is described in Revelation 8:8-9. Revelation 8:10-11 describes a second heavenly object impacting the earth. The second impact hits the earth somewhere on land where there are rivers and sources of rivers. It describes the approaching object as a “great star from heaven” burning bright “like a lamp.” This sounds more like an approaching comet, which would approach earth with a very visible glowing appearance. The purpose of these final plagues is to induce mankind to repent before its Creator, and Revelation 7 states that there will be a “great multitude that no man could number” which does repent, but Revelation 19:11-20:4 argues the majority of earth’s nations and armies will not repent. They will fight Jesus Christ and his heavenly army and the multi-national army of humans will be vaporized. Their manner of death is also described in Zechariah 14:12: a manner of death depicted accurately in the movie,聽Raiders of the Lost Ark. Back to the asteroid that may hit the earth in 2032: The size of that asteroid is still not specifically known and the damage it could cause is highly speculative at this point. Will it be the earth-impacting object described in Revelation 9:8-9? The current estimates of the size of the approaching asteroid would seem to make it too small to cause the damage described in Revelation 8. However, what if the asteroid turns out to be much bigger than current estimates? Even though there are teams of astronomers scanning the heavens for objects that could hit earth, they can’t possibly find them all. The objects that will fulfill Revelation 8’s prophecy may not yet be identified among the myriads of heavenly objects in the sky. One thing is for sure: They are “out there” and they are heading toward earth already. You may have already heard of or seen the evidence that a whale attempted to swallow a man off the Chilean coast, but had to spit him out. The man had the good fortune to be kayaking at the time a whale’s cavernous mouth came up to swallow him at the surface of the ocean. Given that the man was still seated in his kayak when he entered the whale’s mouth, he surely became stuck in the whale’s mouth or throat and the whale disgorged him. Thankfully, the shape and hard form of the kayak meant the man and his kayak got stuck in the whale’s throat. What is remarkable is that the entire short incident was filmed “live” on camera by the man’s father, who was with him when it happened. The <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6368783276112" class="broken_link">first link</a> and <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/videos/c2k5e14vwx4o?at_campaign_type=owned&at_medium=emails&at_objective=awareness&at_ptr_type=email&at_ptr_name=salesforce&at_campaign=newsbriefing&at_email_send_date=20250214&at_send_id=4288557&at_link_title=https%3a%2f%2fwww.bbc.com%2fnews%2fvideos%2fc2k5e14vwx4o&at_bbc_team=crm">second link</a> offer viewers what the camera caught on film when this bizarre incident happened. The <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly50k8zypmo?at_campaign_type=owned&at_medium=emails&at_objective=awareness&at_ptr_type=email&at_ptr_name=salesforce&at_campaign=newsbriefingpm&at_email_send_date=20250214&at_send_id=4289004&at_link_title=https%3a%2f%2fwww.bbc.com%2fnews%2farticles%2fcly50k8zypmo&at_bbc_team=crm">third link</a> is a first-person testimony of the experience by the man who was temporarily inside the mouth of the whale. It also relates that the apparent type of whale may have had only a small aperture for swallowing prey. If that is true, why would it seek to swallow something far bigger than was possible for that species of whale to swallow? Perhaps the species of whale was misidentified, but I’ll leave that to the experts. For believers, this incident reminds us of the biblical account of Jonah being swallowed by a whale after being thrown overboard from a ship in a severe storm, and later being deposited on the coast of the Assyrian Empire to warn them of impending Divine judgement. The book of Jonah has several aspects which are easily missed in a cursory reading. The story of Jonah begins not in the book of Jonah but in II Kings 14:23-29. Jonah the prophet is mentioned as living during the reign of King Jeroboam II of the northern kingdom of Israel. The account relates that during the reign of Jeroboam II, God had mercy on the kingdom of Israel and it was in a resurgent stage during which it was regaining territory. Most notably, Jonah had a prominent role in the king’s court as verse 25 states Jonah had prophesied a resurgence for the kingdom of Israel during the reign of Jeroboam II. Jonah was a patriotic prophet whose message had come to pass! Later during the 41-year reign of Jeroboam II, God told Jonah to go to Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian Empire with a warning they needed to repent or be destroyed. Being a patriotic prophet, Jonah did not want Nineveh to repent so he simply refused to go to Nineveh. He booked passage on a ship to go elsewhere. This understandably displeased God who sent a terrible storm and Jonah was thrown overboard by the ship’s sailors. Jonah had told them he had offended God and that they must throw him overboard to appease God and end the storm. The storm quickly ended after Jonah was thrown into the sea, but God was not done with Jonah. Jonah 1:15-17 tells us that God had prepared “a great fish to swallow up Jonah” to save his life. Jonah repented and prayed to God from the belly of this great fish and God had the fish vomit Jonah up onto the shore of the Assyrian Empire. Jonah 3-4 tell us that Jonah warned the NInevites who then “repented” (humbled themselves before God, actually) and were spared by God. Jonah was furious that God spared Nineveh as Jonah knew Assyria was the mortal enemy of Israel. Jonah wanted God to destroy Nineveh so the kingdom of Israel would be safe for decades beyond when they actually fell to the Assyrians. Why did the Ninevites and their king repent and humble themselves before God? Consider what Jonah looked like when he walked out of the mouth of a “great fish” on the shoreline of Assyria. After three days in the whale’s belly and exposed to its gastric juices, Jonah’s hair must have all been digested off his skin and his skin must have been bleached white from exposure to the digestive acids of the whale’s stomach. Jonah’s appearance as an “albino” human and his walking out of the mouth of a giant sea creature gave Jonah and his message far greater credibility than if he has obeyed God and went straight to Nineveh as ordered. He likely would not have been believed and perhaps he would have been killed, but Nineveh would have been destroyed in a manner similar to Sodom and Gomorrah and the kingdom of Israel may have continued on an extra century before it fell. Jonah had reasoned that since he was the prophet selected by God to warn Nineveh, it could not repent if he refused to go there with that message. Jonah fully expected God to kill him for not obeying his order to go to Nineveh and Jonah 1:10-16 shows Jonah had accepted his death sentence.聽 Nevertheless, God spared Jonah and the circumstances of his arrival in Assyria actually led to Nineveh’s repentance–which Jonah had tried to prevent. Jonah had, in essence, tried to outsmart God and had succeeded in causing the very thing he tried so hard to prevent. We do not know if the “great fish” that swallowed Jonah was a giant whale of some kind or a “one off” creation of a superfish that God created for the specific purpose of swallowing and transporting Jonah to where the Lord had initially sent him. The third link explains some whales couldn’t possibly swallow a man. The stomach of this giant fish had to be quite large to hold sufficient oxygen for Jonah to survive three days inside that fish’s stomach. The whole account of Jonah鈥檚 calling and his being swallowed by a great fish has many lessons which are easily overlooked. I have included an article I wrote years ago on Jonah being a “misunderstood prophet.” 聽It answers the question of why Jesus Christ compared himself to Jonah more directly than to any other prophet (Luke 11:29-32). If Jonah was a “disobedient prophet,” why would Jesus mention a direct link between Jonah’s life and Jesus’ own life? Please contact me at shards@cogcw.org ]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[Several headlines in recent global media articles reminded me of the biblical prophecy in Matthew 24:7 that in the latter days, there would be “earthquakes in divers places (KJV).” This was a prophecy uttered by Jesus Christ himself, so we should take it very seriously. At the outset, I’d like to suggest that the term “earthquake” in Matthew 24:7 should be taken in a broader application than merely earthquakes. I checked my Young’s Concordance and noticed that there was no specific Hebrew or Greek word for “volcano” in the Bible. Therefore, I think the word “earthquake” in Matthew 24:7 can be understood to refer to any seismic event such as earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, etc. The first area that caught my attention recently were the hundreds of earthquakes which were being felt in the Greek Santorini Island area in the Aegean Sea. This region especially needs to be treated with caution as that island blew up in a massive volcanic eruption in ancient times. Understandably, there are fears that a long series of lesser earthquakes could be a precursor to a large earthquake or even a new volcanic eruption. Many thousands of people have been evacuated from the Santorini island region due to the obvious dangers. The strongest recent quake on the Richter scale registered at 5.2 and this level of quake is generally associated with minor damage. Details on these quakes are found in the <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimdobson/2025/02/07/santorini-earthquakes-create-panic-in-greece-as-locals-fear-volcano-could-erupt">first link</a> and <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce8jlm6rm9qo">second link</a>. I do have a small personal connection to the Island of Santorini. When I flew from the Tel Aviv/Jerusalem airport to Frankfurt, Germany in 2000, I saw the island of Santorini as we flew over the Aegean Sea while we were en route to Germany. Santorini’s shape is unmistakable from the air as one can easily see a circular shape of islands surrounding an ancient caldera filled with water in the middle of those islands. A second item that caught my attention was the fact that an area south of Los Angeles is slowly sliding into/toward the Pacific Ocean due to a gradual landslide. This affects the Palos Verde Peninsula listed as being 25 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. The terrain on the Peninsula was at one point slipping 4 inches per week toward the Pacific Ocean. That may not sound like much, but if that rate continued for weeks, it is easy to see that foundations of structures would be cracked and lot shapes would be altered. In dry times such slippages can be quite slow, but a major landslide taking neighborhoods with it can occur when the ground is water-logged. The <a href="https://www.foxweather.com/extreme-weather/rancho-palos-verdes-landslide-risk-erosion?dicbo=v2-6Y4oVFw">third link</a> states that besides California; Oregon, Washington and Idaho are especially vulnerable to such terrain landslides. Then came news that a major earthquake at 7.7 on the Richter scale had occurred in the Caribbean Sea between the nations of Honduras and Cuba. Tsunami warnings were issued for the region but later cancelled. An earthquake of that size is far stronger than the quakes in the Santorini region, but it is the frequency of the earthquakes in the Santorini region which were of major concern. Hundreds of quakes within a short span of time could be foreshocks constituting a harbinger of an imminent major quake so authorities had to take it seriously and implement evacuations. The Caribbean earthquake was far enough out to sea that no evacuations were necessary. I also checked my Concordance to see if any additional prophetic information could be gleaned from the word “divers” in the KJV of Matthew 24:7. The Greek word translated “divers” in the KJV did not specifically hint at the scale of the prophesied latter-day earthquakes. In other words, it did not specifically state it was addressing huge quakes and seismic events. It certainly would include any such major seismic events, but I was left with the impression that it simply means that earthquakes of various strengths would be found in widely-scattered locations all over the earth. Since we tend to not notice earthquakes until they are strong enough to cause major damage, there are many earthquakes around the earth that escape our attention. This allows for a “stealth” fulfillment of the prophecy about earthquakes in Matthew 24:7. The prophecy may address simply the wide-spread nature of earthquakes around the planet in areas not normally associated with earthquakes, or it could mean there will be strong earthquakes in widely-scattered areas on earth. We all know that one of the regions of the earth most subject to strong earthquakes is called the “Ring of Fire” which lies on the perimeter of the Pacific Ocean with the land masses of North and South America as well as the East Asian regions of Japan, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, etc. being included in the danger region. The great San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and the Anchorage, Alaska quake of 1964 were among the largest and most destructive earthquakes in modern American history. Both were in the American sector of the Ring of Fire region around the Pacific Ocean. As you follow world events, I think it is worth noting when and where earthquakes occur.
