However<MG235>, each<MG1538> has<MG2192> his own<MG2398> gift<MG5486> from God<MG2316>, one<MG3588, 3303a> in<MG3779> this<MG3779> way<MG3779>, and another<MG3739, 1161> in that. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But I say<MG3004> to the unmarried<MG22> and to widows<MG5503> that it is good<MG2570> for them if<MG1437> they remain<MG3306> even<MG2532> as I. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>But if<MG1487> they do not have<MG1467> self-control<MG1467>, let them marry<MG1060>; for it is better<MG2909> to marry<MG1060> than<MG2228> to burn<MG4448> <i>with passion.</i> <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But to the married<MG1060> I give<MG3853> instructions<MG3853>, not I, but the Lord<MG2962>, that the wife<MG1135> is not to leave<MG5563> her husband<MG435> <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>(but if<MG1437> she does leave<MG5563>, she must remain<MG3306> unmarried<MG22>, or<MG2228> else<MG2228> be reconciled<MG2644> to her husband<MG435>), and that the husband<MG435> is not to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>divorce<MG863> his wife<MG1135>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>But to the rest<MG3062> I say<MG3004>, not the Lord<MG2962>, that if<MG1487> any<MG5100> brother<MG80> has<MG2192> an unbelieving<MG571> wife<MG1135>, and she consents<MG4909> to live<MG3611> with him, he must not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>divorce<MG863> her. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>if any<MG5100> woman<MG1135> has<MG2192> an unbelieving<MG571> husband<MG435>, and he consents<MG4909> to live<MG3611> with her, she must not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>divorce<MG863> her husband<MG435>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>For the unbelieving<MG571> husband<MG435> is sanctified<MG37> through<MG1722> his wife<MG1135>, and the unbelieving<MG571> wife<MG1135> is sanctified<MG37> through<MG1722> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>her believing<MG80> husband<MG80>; for<MG1893> otherwise<MG1893> your children<MG5043> are unclean<MG169>, but now<MG3568> they are holy<MG40>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Yet<MG1161> if<MG1487> the unbelieving<MG571> one<MG571> is leaving<MG5563>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>let him leave<MG5563>; the brother<MG80> or<MG2228> the sister<MG79> is not under<MG1402> bondage<MG1402> in such<MG5108> <i>cases,</i> but God<MG2316> has called<MG2564> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>us in peace<MG1515>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>For how<MG5101> do you know<MG3609a>, wife<MG1135>, whether<MG1487> you will save<MG4982> your husband<MG435>? Or<MG2228> how<MG5101> do you know<MG3609a>, husband<MG435>, whether<MG1487> you will save<MG4982> your wife<MG1135>? <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Only<MG1487, 3361>, as the Lord<MG2962> has assigned<MG3307> to each<MG1538> one<MG1538>, as God<MG2316> has called<MG2564> each<MG1538>, in<MG3779> this<MG3779> way<MG3779> let him walk<MG4043>. And so<MG3779> I direct<MG1299> in all<MG3956> the churches<MG1577>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Was any<MG5100> man<MG5100> called<MG2564> <i>when he was already</i> circumcised<MG4059>? He is not to become<MG1986a> uncircumcised<MG1986a>. Has anyone<MG5100> been called<MG2564> in uncircumcision<MG203>? He is not to be circumcised<MG4059>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Circumcision<MG4061> is nothing<MG3762>, and uncircumcision<MG203> is nothing<MG3762>, but <i>what matters is</i> the keeping<MG5084> of the commandments<MG1785> of God<MG2316>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Each<MG1538> <i>person</i> is to remain<MG3306> in that <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>state<MG2821> in which<MG3739> he was called<MG2564>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Were you called<MG2564> as a slave<MG1401>? Do not let it concern<MG3199> you. But if<MG1487> you are also<MG2532> able<MG1410> to become<MG1096> free<MG1658>, take<MG5530, 3123> advantage<MG5530, 3123> of <i>that.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>For the one who was called<MG2564> in the Lord<MG2962> as a slave<MG1401>, is the Lord’s<MG2962> freed<MG558> person<MG558>; likewise<MG3668> the one who was called<MG2564> as free<MG1658>, is Christ’s<MG5547> slave<MG1401>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>You were bought<MG59> for a price<MG5092>; do not become<MG1096> slaves<MG1401> of people<MG444>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Brothers<MG80> <i>and sisters,</i> each<MG1538> one<MG1538> is to remain<MG3306> with God<MG2316> in that <i>condition</i> in which<MG3739> he was called<MG2564>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> concerning<MG4012> virgins<MG3933>, I have<MG2192> no<MG3756> command<MG2003> of the Lord<MG2962>, but I am offering<MG1325> direction<MG1106> as one who <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>by the mercy<MG1653> of the Lord<MG2962> is trustworthy<MG4103>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>I think<MG3543>, then<MG3767>, that this<MG3778> is good<MG2570> in<MG1223> view<MG1223> of<MG1223> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>present<MG1764> distress<MG318>, that it is good<MG2570> for a man<MG444> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>to remain<MG1510> as he is. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Are you bound<MG1210> to a wife<MG1135>? Do not seek<MG2212> to be released<MG3080>. Are you released<MG3089> from a wife<MG1135>? Do not seek<MG2212> a wife<MG1135>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>But if<MG1437> you marry<MG1060>, you have not sinned<MG264>; and if<MG1437> a virgin<MG3933> marries<MG1060>, she has not sinned<MG264>. Yet<MG1161> such<MG5108> people<MG5108> <i>as yourselves</i> will have<MG2192> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>trouble<MG2347> in this<MG3588> life<MG4561>, and I <i>am trying to</i> spare<MG5339> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>But this<MG3778> I say<MG5346>, brothers<MG80>, the time<MG2540> has been<MG1510> shortened<MG4958>, so<MG2443> that<MG2443> from<MG3062> now<MG3062> on<MG3062> those<MG3588> who have<MG2192> wives<MG1135> should be as<MG5613> though<MG5613> they had<MG2192> none<MG3361>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>and those<MG3588> who weep<MG2799>, as<MG5613> though<MG5613> they did not weep<MG2799>; and those<MG3588> who rejoice<MG5463>, as<MG5613> though<MG5613> they did not rejoice<MG5463>; and those<MG3588> who buy<MG59>, as<MG5613> though<MG5613> they did not possess<MG2722>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>and those<MG3588> who use<MG5530> the world<MG2889>, as<MG5613> though<MG5613> they did not make<MG2710> full<MG2710> use<MG2710> of<MG2710> it; for the <i>present</i> form<MG4976> of this<MG3778> world<MG2889> is passing<MG3855> away<MG3855>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>But I want<MG2309> you to be free<MG275> from<MG275> concern<MG275>. One who is unmarried<MG22> is concerned<MG3309> about<MG3309> the things of the Lord<MG2962>, how<MG4459> he may please<MG700> the Lord<MG2962>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>but one who is married<MG1060> is concerned<MG3309> about<MG3309> the things of the world<MG2889>, how<MG4459> he may please<MG700> his wife<MG1135>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>and <i>his interests</i> are divided<MG3307>. The woman<MG1135> who is unmarried<MG22>, and the virgin<MG3933>, is concerned<MG3309> about<MG3309> the things of the Lord<MG2962>, that she may be holy<MG40> both<MG2532> in body<MG4983> and spirit<MG4151>; but one who is married<MG1060> is concerned<MG3309> about<MG3309> the things of the world<MG2889>, how<MG4459> she may please<MG700> her husband<MG435>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>I say<MG3004> this<MG3778> for your own<MG846> benefit<MG4851b>, not to put<MG1911> a restraint<MG1029> on<MG1911> you, but <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>to promote<MG4314> what<MG3588> is appropriate<MG2158> and <i>to secure</i> undistracted<MG563> devotion<MG2138a> to the Lord<MG2962>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>But if<MG1487> anyone<MG5100> thinks<MG3543> that he is acting<MG807> dishonorably<MG807> toward<MG1909> his virgin<MG3933>, if<MG1437> she is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>past<MG5230> her youth<MG5230> and it ought<MG3784> to be so<MG3779>, let him do<MG4160> what<MG3739> he wishes<MG2309>, he is not sinning<MG264>; let <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>them marry<MG1060>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>But the one who<MG3739> stands<MG2476> firm<MG1476> in his heart<MG2588>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>if he is<MG2192> not under<MG2192> constraint<MG318>, but has<MG2192> authority<MG1849> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>over<MG4012> his own<MG2398> will<MG2307>, and has decided<MG2919> this<MG3778> in his own<MG2398> heart<MG2588>, to keep<MG5083> his own<MG1438> virgin<MG3933>, he will do<MG4160> well<MG2573>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>So<MG5620> then<MG5620>, both<MG2532> the one who gives<MG1061a> his own<MG1438> virgin<MG3933> in<MG1061a> marriage<MG1061a> does<MG4160> well<MG2573>, and the one who does not give<MG1061a> <i>her</i> in<MG1061a> marriage<MG1061a> will do<MG4160> better<MG2909>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>A wife<MG1135> is bound<MG1210> as long<MG3745, 5550> as<MG3745> her husband<MG435> lives<MG2198>; but if<MG1437> her husband<MG435> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>dies<MG2837>, she is free<MG1658> to be married<MG1060> to whom<MG3739> she wishes<MG2309>, only<MG3440> in the Lord<MG2962>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/7-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>But in my opinion<MG1106> she is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>happier<MG3107> if<MG1437> she remains<MG3306> as she is;
