He has broad research interests include mass transfer and membrane filtration, protein misfolding and kinetics, single molecule force spectroscopy, and bioseparations. He has received the two major awards in the US on Separations (ACS (1995) and AIChE (2000)), the ACS Murphree Award in Industrial and Engineering Chemistry (2008), and is one of the Ã¢â‚¬Å“100 Chemical Engineers of the Modern Erae as part of the AIChE Centennial Celebration in 2008. Dr. Zhong was promoted to full professorship at ECUST in November 1996. He was the director of the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering (ECUST) during 1998-2006. In September 2006, he established the Molecular Biochemical Engineering lab at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Now he is SJTU Distinguished Professor. Professor Zhong's major research interest includes molecular biochemical engineering, advanced fermentation technology, and synthetic biology, covering the application areas of biopharmaceuticals, biorefinery and bioenergy, agriculture, environmental protection and bioremediation, food and fermentation industries.Professor Zhong has published 245 papers in peer-reviewed international journals (cited by Science Citation Index) and 7 international books (by Springer), with Google Scholar citation of 10500 and h-index of 54. He was an invited and plenary lecturer in >70 international conferences. He holds 20 patents. Leblanc received his B. S. in chemistry in 1964 from UniversitÃ© Laval, Canada, and Ph. D. in physical chemistry in1968 from the same university. From 1968 to 1970, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Prof. George Porter, FRS, in Davy Faraday Research Lab, the Royal Institution of Great Britain. He was a professor from 1970 to 1993 at Department of Chemistry and Biology in UniversitÃ© du QuÃ©bec Ã Trois RiviÃ¨res, Canada. During this period, he was Chair from 1971 to 1975 at the same department and Director from 1981 to 1991 at Photobiophysics Research Center. In 1994, he moved to the University of Miami, where he has been a professor at the Department of Chemistry since then. At the University of Miami, he was Chair of the Department of Chemistry from 1994 to 2002, and he is reappointed as Chair from 2013 to present. He is also Professor (Second Appointment) of the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami (Miami, Florida, USA), and Department of Physics, University of Miami (Coral Gables, Florida, USA). In addition, he is a Senior Fellow of the University of Miami Center on Aging (COA) (Coral Gables, Florida, USA). Dr. Leblanc has very rich experiences in materials chemistry, especially in the area of preparation of new materials and their bio-applications development. He also has a strong background in physical chemistry, with sound expertise in key research areas for this application, in particular in surface chemistry, microscopy (Brewster Angle microscopy, epi-fluorescence imaging, atomic force microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy) and spectroscopy (UV/vis, fluorescence, and infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy). Dr. Leblancâ€™s contributions to materials chemistry and surface chemistry have earned him domestic and international recognitions: In 1987, he received the University Merit Medal for excellent academic activities from University of QuÃ©bec, Trois-RiviÃ¨res, Qubec, Canada; In 1992, he won the John-Labatt Limited Award of the Canadian Society for Chemistry for outstanding achievement in chemical research with particular emphasis on biological systems; In the same year, he was appointed as the Honorary Professor of Jilin University, Jilin, Changchun, China; In 1993, he obtained the Governor General Medal in recognition of significant contribution to compatriots, community and to Canada and there was a scholarship established in his name (for graduate students in Biophysics, University of QuÃ©bec) in recognition of exceptional contribution for development of graduate studies; In 1997, he received a plaque in recognition and appreciation for contributions to the Chemistry Department as Chairman from University of Miami; In 1999, he was presented with an award for exemplary scientific advancements and department leadership by College of Arts and Sciences and Department of Chemistry at University of Miami; In 2002, he won the Provostâ€™s Award for scholarly activity and was invited to become the honorary member of the Societe Royale des Sciences de Liege, Belgium, and the Society of Physical Chemists of Serbia for his contribution to the development of Physical Chemistry; In 2006, he got the 2006 Florida Award, American Chemical Society in recognition of the significant and meritorious achievements of prominent Florida Scientists in 2006; In 2011, Dr. Leblanc obtained Cooper Fellowship in recognition of the excellence in contributing to the core missions of scholarship, teaching and service at the College of Arts & Sciences (University of Miami); in 2014, he won the â€œFaculty Mentor of the Yearâ€ Award (University of Miami); in 2019, he received the â€œJournal of Oleo Science Impact Awardâ€ in recognition of the manuscript published in the Journal of Oleo Science most cited as a reference in other journals during the year. The innovative work of Dr. Leblancâ€™s multidisciplinary team has long focused on the development of novel nanomaterials such as carbon dots. After synthesis, purification, and characterization by various spectroscopies and microscopies, we are especially interested in the application of carbon dots in drug delivery to treat Alzheimerâ€™s disease, bone mineralization process, and many types of cancer. Except for drug delivery, our research group is also investigating the application of 2D or 3D printing, biosensing, photocatalysis, and cosmetics using carbon dots. Another focus of our research group is the study of surface chemistry of organic and biological supramolecular complexes using the Langmuir monolayer technique. Dr. Leblanc has published 534 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and he has given more than 430 presentations at medical and scientific conferences around the world. He is a guest editor of Molecules. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of several professional journals including Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, Journal of Parkinsonâ€™s Disease and Alzheimer's Disease, Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, The Open Inorganic Chemistry Journal and Recent Patents on Material Science. He is also the past editor (or guest editor) of the Canadian Journal of Botany, Colloids, and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, Polymers, and Journal of Biological Systems. Dr. Leblanc was a member of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) for the 15th Surfactants in Solution (SIS) Symposium (Fortaleza, Brazil, June 6-11, 2004) and Scientific and Technical Program Committee for the 13th International Symposium on Surfactants in Solution (SIS-2000) (Gainesville, FL, University of Florida, June 11-16, 2000). And he was an organizer of the Symposium on Self-Assembly and Langmuir-Blodgett Film Technology for Chemi- and Biosensors during the Southeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (SERMACS - 99) (Hyatt Regency Hotel, Knoxville, TN, October 17-20, 1999). He is working towards deciphering the synthesis of wood cell walls. His research has many direct applications in the areas of forest productivity, bioenergy production, and tree improvements. Dr. Joshi is a Professor of plant molecular genetics and Chair of the biological sciences department at Michigan Technological University. He served recently in the World Class University program at Chonnam National University in South Korea as a distinguished visiting Professor. His current research focuses on wood cell wall development in trees, with particular emphasis on cellulose and lignin synthesis in poplars for improved bioenergy production. He has extensive experience in molecular genetics of tree growth and wood development, RNAi gene silencing technology, Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of trees, and characterization of transgenic trees. Dr. Joshi has also served as a Director of the Biotechnology Research Center at Michigan Tech and also as a Director of graduate programs at SFRES for five years. He is involved as the principal or co-principle investigator on over $9.4 million extramural research supported by DOE, USDA-NRI, CPBR, MLSC, and NSF. He has co-authored over 100 presentations, published over 65 papers in peer-reviewed journals/books, and served on over 60 graduate student committees at Michigan Tech. His students are well placed at Nations premier Institutions like DOEâ€™s Oakridge National Lab and National Energy Research Lab, various universities, and private industries. Dr. Joshi teaches courses in Genomics, Molecular Genetics, Bioinformatics, and Grantsmanship. He is also a recipient of NSFâ€™s CAREER award, Michigan Techâ€™s Research Award, and inductee of Academic of Teaching Excellence at Michigan Tech. He has served on five NSF, USDA, and DOE review panels, has reviewed papers for over 25 international journals, and evaluated over 100 grant proposals during the last five years. Prof. Peter JaffÃ© is currently appointed as Associated Faculty at High Meadows Environmental Institute, Associated Faculty at Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment (ACEE) and Associated Faculty at Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM). Prof. JaffÃ©â€™s research interests relate to the physical, chemical, and biological processes that govern the transport and transformation of pollutants in the environment and their application toward the remediation of contaminated systems. He was the Head of Iraq Headquarter of Copernicus Scientists International Panel (2006-October, 2020). He was the founding editor of the first Iraqi international peer-reviewed medical journal â€œThe New Iraqi Journal of Medicine (2005-2013)â€ which was the first Iraqi medical to be included in Scopus. He is member of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the Eastern Mediterranean association of Medical editors (EMMAME) since 2004. He is also member of the advisory council the International Association of Medical Colleges (IAMC), since 2008. He served as a reviewer for many international peer-reviewed medical journals including The BMJ, Acta pediatrica Nephrology, Medical Science Monitor , Therapy (Clinical practice), The Lancet, Journal of pediatric neurology, Southern medical journal, Clinical Anatomy, International Brazilian Journal of Urology, International Journal of Dermatology, Fundamental & Clinical Pharmacology, International Journal of Infections in the Developing World, Journal of Renal Nutrition. During the time at Oregon State University Dave worked on a cross flow counter current scrubber for coal fired power plants. Additionally took masters level classes on statistics. Then he moved to Hillsboro with his wife and worked in Semiconductors. In 2007 Dave along with Dr. Tom Wallow produced a paper on ARF double patterning for semiconductors. This multi-pattering scheme is widely used in todayâ€™s semiconductor manufacturing plants. In 2011 Dave started a consulting business for Semiconductors. In 2017 Dave Started Climate Change Truth Research Inc. Dave is seeking the truth about climate change. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computational Biology at Ajou University in 2011 under the guidance of Prof. Sangdun Choi. Thereafter he joined Prof. Jooyoung Leeâ€™s group as a research fellow at the School of Computational Sciences, Korea Institute for Advanced Study, Republic of Korea. Here he expanded his research into core methodology / algorithm development, where he developed machine learning (ML)-based protein quality assessment methods. Having gained experience in ML, he returned to Ajou University and worked as a research professor from Jan 2018 to Feb 2022. Then, he joined Sungkyunkwan University as a faculty member, where he is currently working as a full-time assistant professor. His main research areas include bioinformatics, digital health, heterogeneous data modeling, machine learning, and data analytics in the areas of peptide and protein therapeutics, infection and immunity, and cancer biology/pathology. He has developed several bioinformatics toolkits/webservers to serve a wider research community. Many of these developed methods are highlighted as useful bioinformatic tools and have been used widely by the international research community which could be related to the number of citations. He was director of the Department of Molecular Chemistry (2012-2020) at the Grenoble Alpes University (France). He received his doctoral degree in Chemistry from the Toulouse university (1982) and was an Alexander von Humbold postdoctoral fellow at the university of Munich, Germany. He is member of the Council of the Bioelectrochemical Society (2016-2023) and serves as editor of Bioelectrochemistry journal and specialty chief editor of Frontiers in Analytical Chemistry. He is or has been also associate editors or member of the editorial board of several journals. Dr Cosnierâ€™s activity is focused on the molecular electrochemistry and bioelectrochemistry with the development of electrode materials whose applications include analytical chemistry with biological sensors (enzyme electrodes, immunosensors, aptasensors and DNA sensors), electrocatalysis, electrochemical biomimetic systems and energy conversion (biofuel cells and abiotic fuel cells). He has developed innovative conceptual advances in the field of electrogenerated organic polymers, inorganic nanostructured materials and 3D nanostructured electrode materials based on carbon nanotubes Dr Cosnier has authored over 391 peer reviewed publications (h-index 70), 3 books and 20 book chapters, and holds 20 patents. In 2009, he received the Katsumi Niki Prize of the International Society of Electrochemistry and was appointed as Fellow of this Society in 2010. In 2013, Dr Cosnier became a member of the Academia Europaea and was nominated as a Finalist for the European Inventor Award 2014 by the European Patent Office. In 2015, he was awarded Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Cluj-Napoca (Romania), received the Grand Prix Joseph-Achille Le Bel: Prize awarded by the Chemical Society of France and was nominated Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honor (France).
