Jetzt meldet das Unternehmen Insolvenz an, wie u.a. die <strong>„Leipziger Volkszeitung“ </strong>meldet. „Die anhaltende wirtschaftliche Krise und die damit einhergehende Krise im deutschsprachigen Buchhandel“ habe dazu geführt, dass der Verlag kaum noch eine Chance sehe, im Buchhandel sichtbar zu werden und so Käufer zu erreichen. </p><p>Verschiedene Konsolidierungs-Versuche seit 2022 hätten keinen nachhaltigen  Erfolg gehabt, so habe man beim Amtsgericht Antrag auf Insolvenz anmelden müssen. Autoren des Verlags seien zuvor informiert worden, heißt es. </p><p>Der Verlag, von <strong>Elmar</strong> und <strong>Michael Faber</strong> in der Nachwendezeit 1990 in Leipzig gegründet, bestand bis 2014. Elmar Faber kam mit der Vorgeschichte als <strong>Aufbau</strong>-Verleger, er starb 2017. </p><p>Sohn Michael Faber (von 2009 bis 2016 Kulturbürgermeister der Stadt Leipzig) nahm dann 2019 einen neuen Anlauf und wollte an die Gründungsidee, Literatur und bildende Kunst zu verknüpfen, anschließen. Die 2019 nicht voraussehbare Corona-Pandemie mit den bekannten Folgen (Lockdowns) hat dem ambitionierten Neustart des Unternehmens sehr geschadet. Das aber ist nur die halbe Wahrheit. Überteuerte Produktion durch den externen Herstellungs- und Produktionsdienstleister, im Dutzend verschobene Erscheinungstermine auch über Autorenjubiläen hinweg (Fontane, Roth, Münchhausen u.a.), eine gewisse „Beratungsresistenz“ des Verlegers bezgl. Programm, Terminen, Covern gegenüber AD, Kunden und Vertrieb und Qualitätsmängel haben zu der Schieflage erheblich beigetragen und zu Abbestellungen auf bestehende Vormerker und damit zu Umsatzeinbußen geführt.
