She approaches each project with a fresh mindset, knowing that clients have unique opportunities and challenges. “Sometimes you have to be willing to take a step back and adjust before you can move forward,” she says. Kristen judges the success of every project by the same metric: impact. “My favorite projects,” she says, “are those where you can look back after a period of time and realize that our client—both the company as a whole and the individuals—are in a better place than when we started.” Kristen earned her MBA from University of Texas at Austin, PhD in Chemistry from Rice University in Houston, TX and her BS from Texas Lutheran University. Ensuring peak operational reliability and performance will maximize output to ever more critical grids. A digital twin is a virtual model of a real-world process or asset that can be used for simulation, testing and performance optimization. The blending of the virtual and physical worlds allows data analysis and system monitoring to identify problems early, prevent downtime, and investigate the impacts of potential hardware or software changes by simulations. Digital twin technology enables operators and engineers to monitor and analyze the real-time data and performance of a gas turbine, and then use this information to simulate and predict its future performance. The technology can help improve the efficiency, reliability, and safety of gas turbines, and can reduce maintenance costs and downtime by identifying potential issues before they occur. Leveraging EPRI’s digital twin technologies, Vistra enhanced their real-time gas turbine performance and health monitoring. The combination of EPRI’s physics based Gas Turbine models incorporated into Vistra’s existing Monitoring and Diagnostics suite of tools proved to be a valuable combination. This effort helped in identifying post‐outage performance losses and compressor fouling events within our fleet of gas turbines.

Close

IIRO OLAVI ESKO Siemens

IIRO OLAVI ESKO

Title: Chemical Industry Manager
Company: Siemens

Iiro is a chemical engineer with 15+ years of experience in process industries working with digitalization and the application of digital twins across chemical industry value chains. During the last years many obstacles and objections have been overcome, such as: -Putting in more sensors can be a showstopper. -Plenty of asset health and AI/ML software demand vibration sensor data. -Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications can give insights to their users even without vibration data. -Investment justification is possible when a logical argument can be made around the right data being available to reach an investment decision based on ROI. This abstract covers angles regarding process industries asset health analytics and AI applications with minimal vibration data availability. It is backed by multiple installations in US facilities across different industries and focuses on the bottom-line impact of early detection of anomalies of large fleets of assets through application of priority attention index to bring items to the attention of front-line maintenance workers. By joining this session, you will learn about trends in different industries, enabling returns from AI predictive maintenance systems, deployment across a wide range of assets and asset types, as well as easy utilization by employees of your organization. Example architecture of an AI system for predictive maintenance is evaluated from data sources to a core platform, to operational contextualization, to anomaly detection, and finally to prioritized notifications for maintenance-responsible colleagues. Most maintenance practices are based on service-interval schedules, preventative and reactive approaches that doesn’t take actual machine or equipment usage and health into account, and which is a questionable method when it comes to substantially reducing unplanned downtime and to improving maintenance effectiveness. Predictive maintenance (PdM), on the other hand, is a proactive approach, enabling machine and equipment failures to be dealt with before they stop production. PdM is achieved by analyzing huge volumes of machine and maintenance data to decode the health of machines and equipment and enable maintenance staff to optimize their activities. By predicting break downs, companies can therefore eliminate sudden failures, reduce unplanned downtime, increase machine life, optimize scheduled maintenance, and reduce the routine replacement of parts that may, in fact, be perfectly healthy.

Close

Bharat Marwaha Covestro

Bharat Marwaha

Title: Process Data Analytics and Condition Monitoring
Company: Covestro

PhD Chemical Engg [Reaction Engg and Catalysis]

Update Asset Monitoring Digital Twin Platform

Close

10:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Break in Digital Arena

10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Decoding the Tech Maze: Selecting the Right AI and Machine Learning Technology Offerings for Your Success

Join us for an insightful session that navigates the diverse landscape of AI and Machine Learning technologies.
