Just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> I have been<MH1961> with Moses<MH4872>, I will be with you; I will not desert<MH7503> you nor abandon<MH5800a> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Be strong<MH2388> and courageous<MH553>, for you shall give<MH5157> this<MH2088> people<MH5971a> possession<MH5157> of the land<MH776> which<MH834> I swore<MH7650> to their fathers<MH1> to give<MH5414> them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Only<MH7534b> be strong<MH2388> and very<MH3966> courageous<MH553>; <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>be<MH8104> careful<MH8104> to do<MH6213a> according to all<MH3605> the Law<MH8451> which<MH834> Moses<MH4872> My servant<MH5650> commanded<MH6680> you; do not turn<MH5493> from it to the right<MH3225> or to the left<MH8040>, so<MH4616> that<MH4616> you may <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>achieve<MH7919a> success<MH7919a> wherever<MH3605, 834> you go<MH1980>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>This<MH2088> Book<MH5612> of the Law<MH8451> shall not depart<MH4185> from your mouth<MH6310>, but you shall meditate<MH1897> on it day<MH3119> and night<MH3915>, so<MH4616> that<MH4616> you may <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>be<MH8104> careful<MH8104> to do<MH6213a> according to all<MH3605> that is written<MH3789> in it; for then<MH227> you will make<MH6743b> your way<MH1870> prosperous<MH6743b>, and then<MH227> you will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>achieve<MH7919a> success<MH7919a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Have I not commanded<MH6680> you? Be strong<MH2388> and courageous<MH553>! Do not be terrified<MH6206> nor dismayed<MH2865>, for the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> is with you wherever<MH3605, 834> you go<MH1980>.” <p class="hdg">Joshua Assumes Command</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Then Joshua<MH3091> commanded<MH6680> the officers<MH7860> of the people<MH5971a>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>“Pass<MH5674a> through the midst<MH7130> of the camp<MH4264> and command<MH6680> the people<MH5971a>, saying<MH559>, ‘Prepare<MH3559> provisions<MH6720> for yourselves, for within<MH5750> three<MH7969> days<MH3117> you are going to cross<MH5674a> this<MH2088> Jordan<MH3383>, to go<MH935> in<MH935> to take<MH3423> possession<MH3423> of the land<MH776> which<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> is giving<MH5414> you, to possess<MH3423> it.’” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>But to the Reubenites<MH7206>, to the Gadites<MH1425>, and to the half-tribe<MH2677, 7626> of Manasseh<MH4519>, Joshua<MH3091> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>said<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>“Remember<MH2142> the word<MH1697> which<MH834> Moses<MH4872> the servant<MH5650> of the LORD<MH3068> commanded<MH6680> you, saying<MH559>, ‘The LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> is giving<MH5117> you rest<MH5117>, and will give<MH5414> you this<MH2088> land<MH776>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Your wives<MH802>, your little<MH2945> ones<MH2945>, and your livestock<MH4735> shall remain<MH3427> in the land<MH776> which<MH834> Moses<MH4872> gave<MH5414> you beyond<MH5676> the Jordan<MH3383>, but you shall cross<MH5674a> ahead<MH6440> of your brothers<MH251> in battle<MH2571> formation<MH2571>, all<MH3605> your valiant<MH2428> warriors<MH1368>, and shall help<MH5826> them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/1-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>until<MH5704> the LORD<MH3068> gives<MH5117> your brothers<MH251> rest<MH5117>, as <i>He is giving</i> you, and they also<MH1571> possess<MH3423> the land<MH776> which<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> is giving<MH5414> them.
