The source where heat is generated, the absence of cooling media, self-quenching property, less distortion nature due to localized heat input, environmental friendly behavior and less time to finish the operation are among the main benefits to adopt this technology. This day, a variety of injection machines are used in plastic, textile, electrical and mechanical industries. Due to the fast growing of composite technology, fiber reinforced polymer matrix becoming optional solution to use in these industries. Due, to the abrasion nature of fiber reinforced polymer matrix composite on the injection components, many parts are outdated before the design period. Niko, a company specialized in injection molded products, suffers from the short lifetime of the injection nozzles of the molds, due to the use of fiber reinforced and, therefore, more abrasive polymer matrix. To prolong the lifetime of these molds, hardening the susceptible component like the injecting nozzles was a must. In this paper, the laser hardening process is investigated on Unimax, a type of stainless steel. The investigation to get optimal results for the nozzle-case was performed in three steps. First, the optimal parameters for maximum possible hardenability for the investigated nozzle material is investigated on a flat sample, using experimental testing as well as thermal simulation. Next, the effect of an inclination on the maximum temperature is analyzed both by experimental testing and validation through simulation. Finally, the data combined and applied for the nozzle. This paper describes possible strategies and methods for laser hardening of the nozzle to reach hardness of at least 720 HV for the material investigated. It has been proven, that the nozzle can be laser hardened to over 900 HV with the option of even higher results when more precise positioning of the laser can be assured. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=absorptivity" title="absorptivity">absorptivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fiber%20reinforced%20matrix" title=" fiber reinforced matrix"> fiber reinforced matrix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20hardening" title=" laser hardening"> laser hardening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nd%3AYAG%20laser" title=" Nd:YAG laser"> Nd:YAG laser</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96315/minimization-of-the-abrasion-effect-of-fiber-reinforced-polymer-matrix-on-stainless-steel-injection-nozzle-through-the-application-of-laser-hardening-technique" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96315.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">156</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8432</span> Comparison of Safety and Efficacy between Thulium Fibre Laser and Holmium YAG Laser for Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sujeet%20Poudyal">Sujeet Poudyal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: After Holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Ho: YAG) laser has revolutionized the management of urolithiasis, the introduction of Thulium fibre laser (TFL) has already challenged Ho:YAG laser due to its multiple commendable properties. Nevertheless, there are only few studies comparing TFL and holmium laser in Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery(RIRS). Therefore, this study was carried out to compare the efficacy and safety of thulium fiber laser (TFL) and holmium laser in RIRS. Methods: This prospective comparative study, which included all patients undergoing laser lithotripsy (RIRS) for proximal ureteric calculus and nephrolithiasis from March 2022 to March 2023, consisted of 63 patients in Ho:YAG laser group and 65 patients in TFL group. Stone free rate, operative time, laser utilization time, energy used, and complications were analysed between the two groups. Results: Mean stone size was comparable in TFL (14.23±4.1 mm) and Ho:YAG (13.88±3.28 mm) group, p-0.48. Similarly, mean stone density in TFL (1269±262 HU) was comparable to Ho:YAG (1189±212 HU), p-0.48. There was significant difference in lasing time between TFL (12.69±7.41 mins) and Ho:YAG (20.44±14 mins), p-0.012). TFL group had operative time of 43.47± 16.8 mins which was shorter than Ho:YAG group (58±26.3 mins),p-0.005. Both TFL and Ho:YAG groups had comparable total energy used(11.4±6.2 vs 12±8 respectively, p-0.758). Stone free rate was 87%for TFL, whereas it was 79.5% for Ho:YAG, p-0.25). Two cases of sepsis and one ureteric stricture were encountered in TFL, whereas three cases suffered from sepsis apart from one ureteric stricture in Ho:YAG group, p-0.62). Conclusion: Thulium Fibre Laser has similar efficacy as Holmium: YAG Laser in terms of safety and stone free rate. However, due to better stone ablation rate in TFL, it can become the game changer in management of urolithiasis in the coming days. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=retrograde%20intrarenal%20surgery" title="retrograde intrarenal surgery">retrograde intrarenal surgery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thulium%20fibre%20laser" title=" thulium fibre laser"> thulium fibre laser</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=holmium%3Ayttrium-aluminum-garnet%20%28ho%3Ayag%29%20laser" title=" holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (ho:yag) laser"> holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (ho:yag) laser</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nephrolithiasis" title=" nephrolithiasis"> nephrolithiasis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168964/comparison-of-safety-and-efficacy-between-thulium-fibre-laser-and-holmium-yag-laser-for-retrograde-intrarenal-surgery" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168964.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">76</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8431</span> Laser Additive Manufacturing: A Literature Review</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pranav%20Mohan%20Parki">Pranav Mohan Parki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20Mallika%20Parveen"> C. AM comprises of techniques such as ‘Selective Laser Sintering’ and ‘Selective Laser Melting’ etc. along with other equipment and materials has been developed way back in 1980s, although major use of these methods has risen during the last decade. AM seems to be the most efficient way when compared to the traditional machining procedures. Still many problems continue to hinder its progress to becoming the most widely used of all. The ability to process local, heavily diffused regions in a self-aligned manner can greatly simplify processing sequences for the fabrication of selective emitter. The choice of laser parameters for a laser doping process with 532nm is investigated. Solid state lasers with different power and speed were used for laser doping. In this work, the aim is the formation of selective emitter solar cells with a reduced number of technological steps. In order to have a highly doped localized emitter region, we used a 532 nm laser doping. Note that this region will receive the metallization of the Ag grid by screen printing. For this, we use SOLIDWORKS software to design a single type of pattern for square silicon cells. Sheet resistances, phosphorus doping concentration and silicon bulk lifetimes of irradiated samples are presented. Additionally, secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) profiles of the laser processed samples were acquired. Scanning electron microscope and optical microscope images of laser processed surfaces at different parameters are shown and compared. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20doping" title="laser doping">laser doping</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=selective%20emitter" title=" selective emitter"> selective emitter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silicon" title=" silicon"> silicon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solar%20cells" title=" solar cells"> solar cells</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165841/optimization-of-laser-doping-selective-emitter-for-silicon-solar-cells" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165841.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">102</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8429</span> Numerical Simulation and Optimal Control in Gas Dynamic Laser GDLs</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laggoun%20Chouki">Laggoun Chouki</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper we present the design and mechanisms of the physics process and discuss the performances of continuous gas laser dynamics, based on molecules N2(v=1)→C02(001)(v=3). MCU2 decodes the laser code and locks the system at the specific code. The codes EW selected based on the two selector switches. The system is implemented and tested in Proteus ISIS software. The implementation of the full position determination circuit with the detector is produced. General system for the spot position determination was performed with the laser PRF for incident radiation and the mechanical system for adjusting system at different angles. The system test results show that the system can detect the laser code with only three received pulses based on the narrow gate signal, and good agreement between simulation and measured system performance is obtained. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=four%20quadrant%20detector" title="four quadrant detector">four quadrant detector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pulse%20code%20detection" title=" pulse code detection"> pulse code detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20guided%20weapons" title=" laser guided weapons"> laser guided weapons</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pulse%20repetition%20frequency%20%28PRF%29" title=" pulse repetition frequency (PRF)"> pulse repetition frequency (PRF)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Atmega%2032%20microcontrollers" title=" Atmega 32 microcontrollers"> Atmega 32 microcontrollers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66984/developing-laser-spot-position-determination-and-prf-code-detection-with-quadrant-detector" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66984.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">389</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8427</span> Synchronization of Semiconductor Laser Networks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20M.%20L%C3%B3pez-Guti%C3%A9rrez">R. The fabrication of NPs in liquids based on laser ablation has grown up rapidly in the last decades compared to other techniques. Nowadays, laser ablation has been improved to prepare different types of NPs with special morphologies, microstructures, phases, and sizes, which can be applied in various fields. The paper reviews and highlights the different sizes, shapes and application field of nanoparticles that are produced by laser ablation under different liquids and materials. Also, the paper provides a case study for producing a titanium NPs produced by laser ablation submerged in distilled water. The size of NPs is an important parameter, especially for their usage and applications. The size and shape have been analyzed by SEM, (EDAX) was applied to evaluate the oxidation and elements of titanium NPs and the XRD was used to evaluate the phase composition and the peaks of both titanium and some element. SEM technique showed that the synthesized NPs size ranges were between 15-35 nm which can be applied in various field such as annihilator for cancerous cell etc. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoparticles" title="nanoparticles">nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20ablation" title=" laser ablation"> laser ablation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=titanium%20NPs" title=" titanium NPs"> titanium NPs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=applications" title=" applications"> applications</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105599/applications-of-nanoparticles-via-laser-ablation-in-liquids-a-review" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105599.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8425</span> A Tunable Long-Cavity Passive Mode-Locked Fiber Laser Based on Nonlinear Amplifier Loop Mirror</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pinghe%20Wang">Pinghe Wang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we demonstrate a tunable long-cavity passive mode-locked fiber laser. The mode locker is a nonlinear amplifying loop mirror (NALM). The cavity frequency of the laser is 465 kHz because that 404m SMF is inserted in the cavity. A tunable bandpass filter with ~1nm 3dB bandwidth is inserted into the cavity to realize tunable mode locking. The passive mode-locked laser at a fixed wavelength is investigated in detail. The experimental results indicate that the laser operates in dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) region. When the pump power is 400mW, the laser generates the rectangular pulses with 10.58 ns pulse duration, 70.28nJ single-pulse energy. When the pump power is 400mW, the laser keeps stable mode locking status in the range from 1523.4nm to 1575nm. During the whole tuning range, the SNR, the pulse duration, the output power and single pulse energy have a little fluctuation because that the gain of the EDF changes with the wavelength. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fiber%20laser" title="fiber laser">fiber laser</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dissipative%20soliton%20resonance" title=" dissipative soliton resonance"> dissipative soliton resonance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mode%20locking" title=" mode locking"> mode locking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tunable" title=" tunable"> tunable</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78191/a-tunable-long-cavity-passive-mode-locked-fiber-laser-based-on-nonlinear-amplifier-loop-mirror" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78191.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">237</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8424</span> Theoretical Analysis and Numerical Evaluation of the Flow inside the Supersonic Nozzle for Chemical Lasers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammedi%20Ferhate">Mohammedi Ferhate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hakim%20Chadli"> Hakim Chadli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laggoun%20Chaouki"> Laggoun Chaouki</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main objectives of work in this area are, first, obtaining the high laser energies in short time durations needed for the feasibility studies of laser induced thermodynamically exothermic chemical reactions , second, investigating the physical principles that can be used to make laser sources capable of delivering high average powers. We note that, in order to reach both objectives, one has to convert electrical or chemical energy into laser energy, using dense gaseous media.. We present results from the early development of an F atom source appropriate for HF and DF chemical laser research. We next explain the very important difficulties encountered in working with dense gases for that purpose, and we shall describe how, especially at Evaluation of downstream-mixing scheme –levels transitions (001) → (100) and (001) → (020) gas dynamic laser The physical phenomena that control the operation of presently existing laser devices are now sufficiently well understood, so that it is possible to predict that new generations of lasers could be designed in the future. The experimental results were demonstrated and then the output power of laser diode module operating at 808nm was clearly changed by the thermal temperature and injected current. The output power increases by the increasing the injected current and temperature. We also showed that the increasing of the injected current results rising in heat, which also, results into decreasing of the laser diode output power during the highest temperature as well. A QD LD was irradiated for 24 hours and 48 hours. The laser underwent IV characterization experiments before and after the first and second irradiations. A computer simulation using GAMOS helped in analyzing the given results from IV curves. The results showed an improvement in the QD LD series resistance, current density, and overall ideality factor at all measured temperatures. This is explained by the activation of the QD LD Indium composition to Strontium, ionization of the compound QD LD materials, and the energy deposited to the QD LD. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20dot%20laser%20diode%20irradiation" title="quantum dot laser diode irradiation">quantum dot laser diode irradiation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=effect%20of%20radiation%20on%20QD%20LD" title=" effect of radiation on QD LD"> effect of radiation on QD LD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Am-Be%20irradiation%20effect%20on%20SC%20QD%20LD" title=" Am-Be irradiation effect on SC QD LD"> Am-Be irradiation effect on SC QD LD</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178642/characterization-of-inp-semiconductor-quantum-dot-laser-diode-after-am-be-neutron-irradiation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178642.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">62</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8421</span> Laser-Hole Boring into Overdense Targets: A Detailed Study on Laser and Target Properties</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Florian%20Wagner">Florian Wagner</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Christoph%20Schmidt"> Christoph Schmidt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vincent%20Bagnoud"> Vincent Bagnoud</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Understanding the interaction of ultra-intense laser pulses with overcritical targets is of major interest for many applications such as laser-driven ion acceleration, fast ignition in the frame of inertial confinement fusion or high harmonic generation and the creation of attosecond pulses. One particular aspect of this interaction is the shift of the critical surface, where the laser pulse is stopped and the absorption is at maximum, due to the radiation pressure induced by the laser pulse, also referred to as laser hole boring. We investigate laser-hole boring experimentally by measuring the backscattered spectrum which is doppler-broadened because of the movement of the reflecting surface. Using the high-power, high-energy laser system PHELIX in Darmstadt, we gathered an extensive set of data for different laser intensities ranging from 10^18 W/cm2 to 10^21 W/cm2, two different levels of the nanosecond temporal contrast (10^6 vs. 10^11), elliptical and linear polarization and varying target configurations. In this contribution we discuss how the maximum velocity of the critical surface depends on these parameters. In particular we show that by increasing the temporal contrast the maximum hole boring velocity is decreased by more than a factor of three. Our experimental findings are backed by a basic analytical model based on momentum and mass conservation as well as particle in cell simulations. These results are of particular importance for fast ignition since they contribute to a better understanding of the transport of the ignitor pulse into the overdense region. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser-hole%20boring" title="laser-hole boring">laser-hole boring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interaction%20of%20ultra-intense%20lasers%20with%20overcritical%20targets" title=" interaction of ultra-intense lasers with overcritical targets"> interaction of ultra-intense lasers with overcritical targets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fast%20ignition" title=" fast ignition"> fast ignition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relativistic%20laser%20motter%20interaction" title=" relativistic laser motter interaction"> relativistic laser motter interaction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45345/laser-hole-boring-into-overdense-targets-a-detailed-study-on-laser-and-target-properties" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45345.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">405</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8420</span> A Rare Case of Prolonged Pressure Rise Following Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aneesha%20Fonseca">Aneesha Fonseca</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arij%20Daas"> Arij Daas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammed%20Abdulkader"> Muhammed Abdulkader</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Transient intraocular pressure (IOP) rise is a common occurrence after glaucoma laser procedures. The carried out experiment included the machining of Inconel 718 in the conventional turning conditions, as well as during the continuous laser assisted machining and sequential laser assistance. The surface integrity was evaluated by the measurements of machined surface topographies, microstructures and the microhardness. The mechanism responsible for the self-focusing of a laser beam in plasma is considered to be the relativistic mass variation of plasma electrons under the effect of a highly intense laser beam. Using the moment theory approach and considering the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin approximation for the non-linear Schrodinger wave equation, the differential equation is derived, which governs the spot size of the higher-order Gaussian laser beam in plasma. The nonlinearity induced by the laser beam creates the density gradient in the background plasma electrons, which is responsible for the excitation of the electron plasma wave. The large amplitude electron plasma wave interacts with the fundamental beam, which further produces the coherent radiations with double the frequency of the incident beam. The analysis shows the important role of the different modes of higher-order Gaussian laser beam and density ramp on the efficiency of generated harmonics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=density%20rippled%20plasma" title="density rippled plasma">density rippled plasma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=higher%20order%20Gaussian%20laser%20beam" title=" higher order Gaussian laser beam"> higher order Gaussian laser beam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moment%20theory%20approach" title=" moment theory approach"> moment theory approach</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=second%20harmonic%20generation." title=" second harmonic generation. The influence of the laser surface treatment on the bonding strength between the titanium and poly-ether-ketone-ketone (PEKK) surfaces was also evaluated and compared to those offered by titanium foils without surface treatment to optimize the laser parameters. Material characterization using an optical microscope was carried out to study the microstructure and to measure the mean roughness value of the titanium surface. The results showed that the surface roughness shows a significant dependency on the laser power parameters in which surface roughness increases with the laser power increment. Moreover, the results of the tensile tests have shown that there is no significant dropping in tensile strength for the treated samples comparing to the virgin ones. In order to optimize the laser parameter as well as the corresponding surface roughness, single-lap shear tests were conducted on pairs of the laser treated titanium stripes. The results showed that the bonding shear strength between titanium alloy and PEKK film increased with the surface roughness increment to a specific limit. After this point, it is interesting to note that there was no significant effect for the laser parameter on the bonding strength. This evidence suggests that it is not necessary to use very high power of laser to treat titanium surface to achieve a good bonding strength between titanium alloy and the PEKK film. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bonding%20strength" title="bonding strength">bonding strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20surface%20treatment" title=" laser surface treatment"> laser surface treatment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PEKK" title=" PEKK"> PEKK</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=poly-ether-ketone-ketone" title="poly-ether-ketone-ketone">poly-ether-ketone-ketone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=titanium%20alloy" title=" titanium alloy"> titanium alloy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92507/surface-modification-of-titanium-alloy-with-laser-treatment" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92507.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">338</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8416</span> 3D Point Cloud Model Color Adjustment by Combining Terrestrial Laser Scanner and Close Range Photogrammetry Datasets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Pepe">M. In order to produce high quality models representing archaeological evidences and anthropological artifacts, the appearance of the model (i.e. color) beyond the geometric accuracy, is not a negligible aspect. The integration of the close-range photogrammetry survey techniques with the laser scanner is still a topic of study and research. By combining point cloud data sets of the same object generated with both technologies, or with the same technology but registered in different moment and/or natural light condition, could construct a final point cloud with accentuated color dissimilarities. Due to non ionizing nature and the ability to penetrate several millimeters, THz radiation is suitable for diagnosis of cancerous cells. Traditional THz emitters like optically active crystals when irradiated with high power laser radiation, are subject to material breakdown and hence low conversion efficiencies. This problem is not encountered in laser - plasma based THz radiation sources. The present paper is devoted to the simulation study of the enhanced THz radiation generation by propagation of two-color, linearly polarized laser pulses through magnetized plasma. The two laser pulses orthogonally polarized are co-propagating along the same direction. The direction of the external magnetic field is such that one of the two laser pulses propagates in the ordinary mode, while the other pulse propagates in the extraordinary mode through homogeneous plasma. A transverse electromagnetic wave with frequency in the THz range is generated due to the presence of the static magnetic field. It is observed that larger amplitude terahertz can be generated by mixing of ordinary and extraordinary modes of two-color laser pulses as compared with a single laser pulse propagating in the extraordinary mode. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-color%20laser%20pulses" title="two-color laser pulses">two-color laser pulses</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=terahertz%20radiation" title=" terahertz radiation"> terahertz radiation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetized%20plasma" title=" magnetized plasma"> magnetized plasma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ordinary%20and%20extraordinary%20mode" title=" ordinary and extraordinary mode"> ordinary and extraordinary mode</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53261/simulation-study-of-enhanced-terahertz-radiation-generation-by-two-color-laser-plasma-interaction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53261.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">301</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8413</span> Effects of Two Cross Focused Intense Laser Beams On THz Generation in Rippled Plasma</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sandeep%20Kumar">Sandeep Kumar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Naveen%20Gupta"> Naveen Gupta</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Terahertz (THz) generation has been investigated by beating two cosh-Gaussian laser beams of the same amplitude but different wavenumbers and frequencies through rippled collisionless plasma. The ponderomotive force is operative which is induced due to the intensity gradient of the laser beam over the cross-section area of the wavefront. The electrons evacuate towards a low-intensity regime, which modifies the dielectric function of the medium and results in cross focusing of cosh-Gaussian laser beams. The evolution of spot size of laser beams has been studied by solving nonlinear Schrodinger wave equation (NLSE) with variational technique. The laser beams impart oscillations to electrons which are enhanced with ripple density. The nonlinear oscillatory motion of electrons gives rise to a nonlinear current density driving THz radiation. It has been observed that the periodicity of the ripple density helps to enhance the THz radiation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rippled%20collisionless%20plasma" title="rippled collisionless plasma">rippled collisionless plasma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cosh-gaussian%20laser%20beam" title=" cosh-gaussian laser beam"> cosh-gaussian laser beam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ponderomotive%20force" title=" ponderomotive force"> ponderomotive force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=variational%20technique" title=" variational technique"> variational technique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20current%20density" title=" nonlinear current density"> nonlinear current density</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/139951/effects-of-two-cross-focused-intense-laser-beams-on-thz-generation-in-rippled-plasma" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/139951.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">201</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8412</span> Comparison of Tribological and Mechanical Properties of White Metal Produced by Laser Cladding and Conventional Methods</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae-Il%20Jeong">Jae-Il Jeong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hoon-Jae%20Park"> Hoon-Jae Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jung-Woo%20Cho"> Jung-Woo Cho</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yang-Gon%20Kim"> Yang-Gon Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jin-Young%20Park"> Jin-Young Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joo-Young%20Oh"> Joo-Young Oh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Si-Geun%20Choi"> Si-Geun Choi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seock-Sam%20Kim"> Seock-Sam Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young%20Tae%20Cho"> Young Tae Cho</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chan%20Gyu%20Kim"> Chan Gyu Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Hyoung%20Kim"> Jong-Hyoung Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Bearing component has strongly required to decrease vibration and wear to achieve high durability and life time. In the industry field, bearing durability is improved by surface treatment on the bearing surface by centrifugal casting or gravity casting production method. However, this manufacturing method has caused problems such as long processing time, defect rate, and health harmful effect. To solve this problem, there is a laser cladding deposition treatment, which provides fast processing and food adhesion. Therefore, optimum conditions of white metal laser deposition should be studied to minimize bearing contact axis wear using laser cladding techniques. In this study, we deposit a soft white metal layer on SCM440, which is mainly used for shaft and bolt. On laser deposition process, the laser power and powder feed rate and laser head speed factors are controlled to find out the optimal conditions. We also measure hardness using micro Vickers, analyze FE-SEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) and EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) to study the mechanical properties and surface characteristics with various parameters change. Furthermore, the tilting bearing has many advantages such as high stability at high-speed performance, long life, high damping, high impact resistance and low noise. Therefore, it mostly used in mid to large size turbomachines, despite the high price disadvantage. Recently, manufacture and process employing laser techniques advancing at a fast-growing rate in mechanical industry, the dissimilar metal weld process employing laser techniques is actively studied. Laser cutting machines require a specified cutting parameter set for each different material in different thickneses, this parameters are a combination of laser power, gas type, cutting speed, gas pressure and focus point, The another purpose of this study is examine the potential affect of different cutting parameters for the same material in same thickness on carbon footprint. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=life%20cycle%20assessment" title="life cycle assessment">life cycle assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20emission" title=" carbon emission"> carbon emission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20cutting%20machine" title=" laser cutting machine"> laser cutting machine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cutting%20parameters" title=" cutting parameters"> cutting parameters</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165120/calculating-the-carbon-footprint-of-laser-cutting-machines-from-cradle-to-grave-and-examination-the-effect-of-the-use-of-the-machine-on-the-carbon-footprint" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165120.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">99</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8408</span> Performance Analysis of Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser and Distributed Feedback Laser for Community Access Television</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ashima%20Rai">Ashima Rai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> CATV transmission systems have altered from old cable based one-way analog video transmission to two ways hybrid fiber transmission. The use of optical fiber reduces the RF amplifiers in the transmission, high transmission power or lower fiber transmission losses are required to increase system capability. This paper evaluates and compares Distributed Feedback (DFB) laser and Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) for CATV transmission. The simulation results exhibit the better performer among both lasers taking into consideration the parameters chosen for evaluation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Distributed%20Feedback%20%28DFB%29" title="Distributed Feedback (DFB)">Distributed Feedback (DFB)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vertical%20Cavity%20Surface%20Emitting%20Laser%20%28VCSEL%29" title=" Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL)"> Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Community%20Access%20Television%20%28CATV%29" title=" Community Access Television (CATV)"> Community Access Television (CATV)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Composite%20Second%20Order%20%28CSO%29" title=" Composite Second Order (CSO)"> Composite Second Order (CSO)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Composite%20Triple%20Beat%20%28CTB%29" title=" Composite Triple Beat (CTB)"> Composite Triple Beat (CTB)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RF" title=" RF"> RF</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70954/performance-analysis-of-vertical-cavity-surface-emitting-laser-and-distributed-feedback-laser-for-community-access-television" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70954.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">358</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8407</span> Spectroscopic Characterization of Indium-Tin Laser Ablated Plasma</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Hanif">Muhammad Hanif</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Salik"> Muhammad Salik</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the present research work we present the optical emission studies of the Indium (In)-Tin (Sn) plasma produced by the first (1064 nm) harmonic of an Nd: YAG nanosecond pulsed laser. The experimentally observed line profiles of neutral Indium (InI) and Tin (SnI) are used to extract the electron temperature (Te) using the Boltzmann plot method. Whereas, the electron number density (Ne) has been determined from the Stark broadening line profile method. The Te is calculated by varying the distance from the target surface along the line of propagation of plasma plume and also by varying the laser irradiance. Beside we have studied the variation of Ne as a function of laser irradiance as well as its variation with distance from the target surface. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
