The LORD<MH3068> is our God<MH430>, the LORD<MH3068> is one<MH259>! <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And you shall love<MH157> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> with all<MH3605> your heart<MH3824> and with all<MH3605> your soul<MH5315> and with all<MH3605> your strength<MH3966>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>These<MH428> words<MH1697>, which<MH834> I am commanding<MH6680> you today<MH3117>, shall be on your heart<MH3824>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And you shall repeat<MH8150b> them diligently<MH8150b> to your sons<MH1121> and speak<MH1696> of them when you sit<MH3427> in your house<MH1004>, when you walk<MH1980> on the road<MH1870>, when you lie<MH7901> down<MH7901>, and when you get<MH6965> up<MH6965>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>You shall also tie<MH7194> them as a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>sign<MH226> to your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>hand<MH3027>, and they shall be as <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>frontlets<MH2903> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>on your forehead<MH996, 5869>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>You shall also write<MH3789> them on the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>doorposts<MH4201> of your house<MH1004> and on your gates<MH8179>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>“Then it shall come<MH1961> about<MH1961> when<MH3588> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> brings<MH935> you into the land<MH776> that<MH834> He swore<MH7650> to your fathers<MH1>, to Abraham<MH85>, Isaac<MH3327>, and Jacob<MH3290>, to give<MH5414> you, great<MH1419> and splendid<MH2896a> cities<MH5892b> which<MH834> you did not build<MH1129>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>and houses<MH1004> full<MH4392> of all<MH3605> good<MH2898> things<MH2898> which<MH834> you did not fill<MH4390>, and carved<MH2672> cisterns<MH953a> which<MH834> you did not carve<MH2672> out<MH2672>, vineyards<MH3754> and olive<MH2132> trees<MH2132> which<MH834> you did not plant<MH5193>, and you eat<MH398> and are<MH7646> satisfied<MH7646>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>be<MH8104> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>careful<MH8104> that you do not forget<MH7911> the LORD<MH3068> who<MH834> brought<MH3318> you out<MH3318> of the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>, out<MH3318> of the house<MH1004> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>slavery<MH5650>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>You shall <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>fear<MH3372a> <i>only</i> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>; and you shall <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>worship<MH5647> Him and swear<MH7650> by His name<MH8034>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>You shall not follow<MH1980, 310> other<MH312> gods<MH430>, any<MH312> of the gods<MH430> of the peoples<MH5971a> who<MH834> surround<MH5439> you, <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>for the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> <i>who is</i> in the midst<MH7130> of you is a jealous<MH7067> God<MH410>; <i>so follow Him,</i> or<MH6435> else<MH6435> the anger<MH639> of the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> will be kindled<MH2734> against you, and He will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>wipe<MH8045> you off<MH4480, 5921> the face<MH6440> of the earth<MH127>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>“You shall not put<MH5254> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> to<MH5254> the<MH5254> test<MH5254>, as you tested<MH5254> <i>Him</i> at Massah<MH4532>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>You shall diligently<MH8104> keep<MH8104> the commandments<MH4687> of the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>, and His provisions<MH5713b> and His statutes<MH2706> which<MH834> He has commanded<MH6680> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>You shall do<MH6213a> what is right<MH3477> and good<MH2896a> in the sight<MH5869> of the LORD<MH3068>, so<MH4616> that<MH4616> it may go<MH3190> well<MH3190> for you and that you may go<MH935> in<MH935> and take<MH3423> possession<MH3423> of the good<MH2896a> land<MH776> which<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> swore<MH7650> to <i>give</i> your fathers<MH1>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>by driving<MH1920> out<MH1920> all<MH3605> your enemies<MH340> from you, as the LORD<MH3068> has spoken<MH1696>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>“When<MH3588> your son<MH1121> asks<MH7592> you in time<MH4279> to come<MH4279>, saying<MH559>, ‘What<MH4100> <i>do</i> the provisions<MH5713b> and the statutes<MH2706> and the judgments<MH4941> <i>mean</i> which<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> our God<MH430> commanded<MH6680> you?’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>then you shall say<MH559> to your son<MH1121>, ‘We were slaves<MH5650> to Pharaoh<MH6547> in Egypt<MH4714>, and the LORD<MH3068> brought<MH3318> us out<MH3318> of Egypt<MH4714> with a mighty<MH2389> hand<MH3027>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/6-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Moreover, the LORD<MH3068> provided<MH5414> great<MH1419> and terrible<MH7451a> signs<MH226> and wonders<MH4159> before our eyes<MH5869> against Egypt<MH4714>, Pharaoh<MH6547>, and all<MH3605> his household<MH1004>;
