First take the beam of wood out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the splinter out of your brother’s eye. <span epub:type="z3998:verse" id="start-Matthew.7.6" /> <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/7-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Don’t give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs,<a epub:type="noteref" href="#xrf.Matthew.7.6.1"><span class="xrfAlphabet">a</span></a> or they will trample them under their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces.</span></p><h3 class="head1">Ask, Search, Knock</h3><p class="noind"><span class="redletter"><span epub:type="z3998:verse" id="start-Matthew.7.7" /> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/7-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>“Ask,<a epub:type="noteref" href="#xrf.Matthew.7.7.1"><span class="xrfAlphabet">a</span></a> and it will be given to you.<a epub:type="noteref" href="#xrf.Matthew.7.7.2"><span class="xrfAlphabet">b</span></a> Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door<a epub:type="noteref" href="#fn.Matthew.7.7.1"><span class="fnAlphabet">A</span></a> will be opened to you. <span epub:type="z3998:verse" id="start-Matthew.7.8" /> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/7-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds,<a epub:type="noteref" href="#xrf.Matthew.7.8.1"><span class="xrfAlphabet">a</span></a> and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. <span epub:type="z3998:verse" id="start-Matthew.7.9" /> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/7-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Who among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
